    Get PDF
Indonesia, as the world's largest producer of palm oil, generates a large amount of liquid waste that has the potential to be a renewable energy source. The main problem of liquid waste originated from palm oil industry, apart from its nature, is its potential long-term usability, especially when improvements in biogas-based power generating technologies are put into consideration. Based on these problems, the main purpose of this research is to compare the economical, technical, and environmental scalability between palm oil mill effluent (POME)-based biogas power generation and older, existing diesel-based power generation and analyzing their scalability potential in long term, in aim to increase the utilization of renewable energy portion in Indonesia. This research is conducted by observing an actual palm oil mill facility and its power generation system. Data are analyzed by qualitative and quantitative method by means of computer simulation before being compared with diesel-based power generation system. Based on simulations and comparative analysis, POME-based biogas can be utilized as a fuel source for power generation using gas-fired power generating technology, due to its methane content. With these characteristics, it is possible to analyze the scalability potential of POME-based biogas power plants in the diversification of new and renewable energy sources. Studies on potential development show that biogas power plants are more efficient and have a linear correlation with the volume of liquid waste, and can be adapted in lieu of power generating-related technology advancements. As a result, energy derived from POME can support energy independence and contribute to the growth of clean energy

    Get PDF
Automatic classification of tomato ripeness plays a crucial role in ensuring post-harvest quality and efficiency in the horticultural industry. This study proposes a combined strategy of Knowledge Distillation (KD) and hyperparameter optimization using Optuna to improve the accuracy of the ResNet50 student model by leveraging the performance of a MobileNetV2 teacher model. We used a publicly available Kaggle dataset containing 8,540 images, categorized into four ripeness levels (green, red, ripe, and rotten), comprising 7,157 training images and 1,383 validation images. Each image was resized to 224×224 pixels; light augmentation techniques (random rotation, brightness–contrast adjustment, flipping, and Gaussian blur) were applied only to the training set to prevent overfitting while maintaining consistency during evaluation. The MobileNetV2 teacher model was initially fine-tuned on the last 20 layers using manual hyperparameters (freeze_until = 20, dropout = 0.6), achieving an accuracy of 85.8%.Subsequent tuning via Optuna identified the optimal configuration (freeze_until = 91, dropout_rate = 0.5055), which improved the teacher’s performance to 89.6%.The resulting teacher model was then used to distill knowledge into the ResNet50 student: under manual settings, the student’s accuracy improved from 55.24% to 73.25%; when the student model was also optimized using Optuna, its accuracy surged to 85.54% nearly matching the teacher.Further evaluation using a confusion matrix and ROC curves revealed an increase in per-class AUC to the range of 0.91–0.99 in the KD + Optuna student model, confirming that this method effectively closes the performance gap between student and teacher. These findings demonstrate that combining KD with Optuna-based hyperparameter optimization is an effective approach for producing a lightweight, fast, and highly accurate tomato ripeness classification model ready for deployment in field applications to support post-harvest decision-making

Underprivileged women in Indonesia face various challenges in developing their businesses, including limited access to education, technology, markets, and financial services. The mentoring program initiated by Bank Syariah seeks to address these challenges by positioning facilitators as strategic partners. In this context, the primary subjects of empowerment are underprivileged women striving to enhance their entrepreneurial capacity, while facilitators act as agents of change who provide guidance, motivation, and serve as bridges to knowledge and technology. The community service method employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR), with activities conducted in Boyolali Regency, Central Java. This method emphasizes the active involvement of participants from the stages of problem identification, planning, and implementation to evaluation. Mentoring activities were carried out through interviews, participatory observation, entrepreneurship workshops, hands-on practice, and joint reflection sessions. This participatory approach ensures that the real needs of underprivileged women form the foundation for designing materials, methods, and empowerment strategies. The results of the program indicate that the mentoring successfully improved participants’ entrepreneurial skills, particularly in financial management, digital promotion, and business identity development. Indicators of success were also reflected in changes in participants’ attitudes and motivation to manage their businesses independently, increased confidence in marketing products, and greater business visibility through social media. The role of facilitators, who not only delivered materials but also served as motivators, companions, and social change agents, proved to accelerate this transformation. Thus, effective mentoring requires facilitators to master public communication skills, time management, and digital technology to ensure the sustainability of underprivileged women’s business independence

Education on Normal and Caesarean Delivery Based on Leaflets and Animated Videos

    Get PDF
The cesarean section (CS) rate in Mataram City has reached 67.2%, far above the national average. This increase raises medical, social, and economic concerns, especially since many procedures are performed without clear medical indications. A key contributing factor is low health literacy among women of reproductive age, including limited understanding of childbirth options, fear of pain, misconceptions about safety, and lack of family support. This community service activity applied a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach in four stages: (1) problem identification with health centers, cadres, and women of reproductive age; (2) development of educational media in the form of leaflets and animated videos; (3) implementation through interactive lectures and discussions with 30 participants at Yarsi Mataram; and (4) participatory reflection and evaluation using pre–post tests. the findings showed an increase in average knowledge scores from 72.33 to 91.33. Beyond knowledge, participants also reported reduced fear of normal delivery, greater confidence in making childbirth decisions, and stronger commitment to seek support from health workers and families. This activity demonstrates that targeted health education can effectively improve both knowledge and attitudes toward childbirth. Replication is recommended in other areas with high CS rates, with cadres and community leaders trained as facilitators to ensure sustainability and wider impact

Digitalization of Local Enterprises: Empowering Sewing Groups through a Modern Management System

    Get PDF
This community engagement program was initiated to address the managerial limitations, low competitiveness, and dependence on conventional practices experienced by the Izzalia sewing group in Maibit Village, Tuban. The group was selected as the object of service because it represents one of the largest local sewing businesses with high potential but was hindered by limited knowledge in marketing, financial management, and supply chain organization. These conditions created an urgent need for systematic interventions to enhance their sustainability and competitiveness. The program introduced a technology-based business management system to facilitate concrete transitions: from manual bookkeeping to digital accounting applications, and from offline promotion to online marketing platforms. The main objective was to strengthen the group’s capacity and economic independence through structured training and mentoring in modern marketing, financial management, and supply chain operations.Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the program was implemented through stages of assessment, program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Evaluation with the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product) demonstrated effectiveness in the first three aspects, while refinement is still required in the product dimension, particularly the development of a raw material database. Overall, the training not only increased participants’ knowledge but also accelerated their adoption of digital accounting systems and e-commerce platforms. This transition significantly improved efficiency, expanded market reach, and reflected the group’s readiness to sustain technology-based practices

Pengaruh Leisure Satisfaction terhadap Caregiver Burden di Panti Perlindungan dan Rehabilitasi Sosial Lanjut Usia Budi Sejahtera Kalimantan Selatan

    Get PDF
Caregiver burden refers to the psychosocial strain experienced by caregivers as a result of their involvement in providing long-term care for older adults, both from a subjective and objective perspective. One factor assumed to influence the level of caregiver burden is leisure satisfaction, which reflects the positive perceptions that arise from engaging in leisure activities. The present study aims to examine whether leisure satisfaction has an effect on caregiver burden at PPRSLU Budi Sejahtera. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 40 respondents were recruited using a total sampling technique. The instruments applied were the Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS) and the Zarit Burden Interview. Simple linear regression analysis was conducted to assess the influence of leisure satisfaction (independent variable) on caregiver burden (dependent variable). The linearity test yielded a significance value of p = 0.771 (p > 0.05), indicating that leisure satisfaction did not have a significant effect on caregiver burden. Therefore, the proposed hypothesis was not supported. In conclusion, leisure satisfaction does not significantly affect caregiver burden. This study contributes to the literature on caregiver burden by demonstrating that leisure satisfaction alone does not explain the strain experienced by caregivers, suggesting that other factors need to be considered in understanding caregiver burden among those caring for older adult

    Get PDF
This study examines the complexity of implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in public primary schools in Igembe Central Sub-district, Kenya, a crucial education reform aimed at shaping 21st-century skills. Although CBC implementation efforts have been made, challenges such as inadequate syllabus coverage, ineffective teaching methods, and suboptimal learner learning outcomes remain a serious concern. This study aims to investigate the influence of teacher training on the implementation of CBC in these schools. Adopting a mixed methods approach with a concurrent triangulation research design, the study collected data from 394 participants through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (SPSS Version 25), while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The study's results revealed that the implementation of CBC remains a primary concern in the Igembe Central Sub-district public elementary school. A significant proportion of teachers do not complete the syllabus, resulting in substandard student learning outcomes in critical areas. This is mainly due to the lack of adequate teacher training related to curriculum-based assessments. The findings of this study imply the importance for the Ministry of Education (MoE) to sustainably pursue teacher training and retraining programs to address identified competency gaps, in order to enhance the effectiveness of CBC implementation

From Uswah to Habitus: Transformation of Religious Character Through Example in Madrasah

    Get PDF
This study aims to examine the role of teacher role models as an effective strategy in shaping the religious character of students. Departing from the phenomenon of moral degradation among adolescents, character education based on religious values is seen as an urgent need, especially in the madrasah environment. This study employs a descriptive, qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's models. The results of the study show that the example of teachers in daily worship activities, commemoration of Islamic holidays, habituation of good character, and social interaction have a tangible impact on the formation of students' religious character. Teachers who consistently exhibit religious behaviors, such as congregational prayers, reciting the Qur'an, offering greetings, and being fair and empathetic, are able to instill Islamic values through a natural internalization process. The implications of this study suggest that Islamic educational institutions should prioritize exemplary behavior as the primary strategy in designing character-building programs and integrate them into the overall school culture to create a consistent and sustainable religious environment
