FROM PESANTREN TO ONLINE NEWSPAPER: CONSERVATIVE AND PROGRESSIVE EXEGESIS IN KH. MUSTA’IN SYAFI’I’S TAFSIR AL-QUR’AN AKTUAL
Indonesian Qur’anic exegesis has undergone significant transformation alongside shifts in media, socio-political contexts, and interpretive orientations. While classical tafsir traditions were largely produced within pesantren and transmitted through printed texts, contemporary interpretations increasingly emerge in digital and mass-media spaces. This article examines Tafsir Al-Qur’an Aktual by KH. Musta’in Syafi’i, a Qur’anic commentary published in the online newspaper Harian Bangsa, focusing on how conservative and progressive exegetical tendencies are negotiated within this medium. The study aims to analyze the ideological orientations embedded in Musta’in Syafi’i’s interpretations and to explore how digital media reshapes pesantren-based Qur’anic discourse in contemporary Indonesia. Employing qualitative library research combined with Critical Discourse Analysis, the study analyzes selected tafsir texts addressing leadership, gender, public ethics, and religious authority. The findings demonstrate that Musta’in Syafi’i articulates a hybrid exegetical model that integrates classical pesantren epistemology with contextual and ethical engagement in modern socio-political debates. His tafsir exhibits progressive interpretations in areas such as social ethics, anti-corruption discourse, and gender participation in worship, while simultaneously maintaining conservative positions on religious authority, political identity, and ritual norms. This coexistence reflects the influence of the author’s ideological, educational, and socio-political pre-understandings. The study concludes that Tafsir Al-Qur’an Aktual represents a distinctive form of Indonesian Qur’anic interpretation that bridges traditional authority and contemporary public discourse, highlighting how digital media functions as a transformative space for negotiating continuity and change in Qur’anic exegesis
Healing Through Words and Learning: Communication and Education Strategies in Drug Rehabilitation
This study aims to analyze the role of therapeutic communication and health education in enhancing the effectiveness of drug rehabilitation programs at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Tojo Una-Una Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving ten informants—seven rehabilitation clients and three officers. Data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s Interactive Model with the support of Nvivo 12 Plus software. The findings reveal that therapeutic communication, encompassing openness, empathy, supportive behavior, positive attitude, and similarity, fosters warm and trusting interpersonal relationships between officers and clients. Empathy-based and family-oriented communication motivates clients to recover from addiction. Furthermore, health education guided by the Health Belief Model (HBM) improves clients’ risk awareness, self-efficacy, and understanding of the benefits of behavioral change toward a healthy lifestyle. Continuous and contextual education helps clients build resilience and reduce relapse risk. These findings emphasize that the success of rehabilitation at BNN Tojo Una-Una is not solely determined by medical interventions but strongly relies on the quality of interpersonal communication and sustainable health education as empowerment strategies for clients’ holistic recovery

This research aims to understand the role of Aceh Pungo in maintaining the cultural identity of the Acehnese people in the midst of globalization and modernization. The term "Aceh Pungo" which is often misinterpreted as "Aceh Gila" actually reflects the character of the Acehnese people who are critical, courageous, and humorous in responding to various social, political, and religious problems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation of the Acehnese people involved in the Aceh Pungo tradition. The results of the study show that Aceh Pungo plays an important role in preserving the language, social values, and cultural expression of Aceh through art, humor, and social criticism. Strong Islamic values are also the foundation in every form of cultural expression. Traditions such as kenduri, peusijuek, and saman dance became a medium to strengthen the identity and social solidarity of the community. Although the younger generation faces challenges due to modernization, the Aceh Pungo community has managed to integrate local culture with digital media as a new form of adaptation in the preservation of cultural heritage. This study confirms that Aceh Pungo is not a symbol of madness, but a representation of cultural intelligence and the determination of the Acehnese people in defending their identity
INTEGRATION OF LEADERSHIP MANAGEMENT, EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, AND THE EMOTIONAL INQUIRY LEARNING MODEL IN COMPETENCY-BASED TRAINING
This article discusses the conceptual link between leadership management, emotional intelligence, and the Emotional Inquiry learning model in the context of competency-based training. This study aims to examine how emotional intelligence is a crucial component in the effectiveness of leadership management, and how competency-based training that applies a reflective learning model can support leadership competency certification. The writing method uses a literature-based study approach by reviewing classical and contemporary scientific literature in the fields of leadership, emotional intelligence, and competency-based learning design. The results of the study indicate that effective leadership management requires not only intellectual intelligence and technical skills, but also high emotional intelligence to manage interpersonal relationships and strategic decision-making. Furthermore, competency-based training that adopts the Emotional Inquiry model can strengthen the reflective and affective dimensions of participants, so that the competency certification process more holistically reflects leadership capabilities. The implications of this study point to the need for integration between cognitive, affective, and socio-emotional aspects in the design of competency-based leadership training programs in Indonesia
ISLAMIC EDUCATION MODEL BASED ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping perfect human beings and as a driving force for just social change. The dynamics of contemporary society demand an Islamic education model that emphasizes not only the transfer of religious knowledge but also focuses on community empowerment. This study aims to examine and formulate a conceptual model for Community-Based Islamic Education (PIBPM) through a library research approach. Data sources include primary and secondary literature such as scientific journals, books, and educational policy documents. The results indicate that PIBPM must be based on the values of the caliphate, amar ma'ruf nahi munkar, and social justice. Implementation of this model requires the integration of a community-based curriculum that is contextualized to local needs and wisdom, active community participation as educational subjects, and strategic collaboration among stakeholders. Islamic educational institutions need to transform into centers of social, economic, and spiritual empowerment. Thus, PIBPM not only strengthens the relevance of Islamic education to social development but also affirms its role as an agent of transformation towards an empowered and civilized society

OBJECT OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION THEORY BASED ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
This study aims to examine the object of Islamic educational theory based on a community approach by tracing the historical and conceptual roots of critical education, as well as its relevance in contemporary social, political, and cultural contexts. Islamic education from a critical perspective is understood not only as a process of knowledge transfer, but also as a means of liberation and human empowerment from various forms of structural, ideological, and cultural oppression. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method, which examines relevant national journals indexed by Sinta 2 and international articles (2020–2025). The analysis was carried out using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that critical education in Islam has a strong theological basis, rooted in the values of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar and the principle of tahrīr al-insān (human liberation). Islamic education is understood as a process of spiritual and social emancipation that fosters reflective awareness, builds moderation, and strengthens the cultural identity of the community. Furthermore, Islamic education serves as a political product, a means of cultural resistance, and a preserver of just and civilized local values. Thus, the theory of community-based Islamic education integrates spirituality, rationality, and social awareness to shape individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and civilized
HUMAN EMOTIONAL LEVELS: HAWKINS SCALE THEORY AND ITS CORRELATION WITH THE CONCEPT OF NAFS IN THE QUR'AN
This study aims to analyze the relationship between David R. Hawkins emotional consciousness level theory and the concept of nafs in the Quran. In transpersonal psychology, Hawkins maps human consciousness through the map of consciousness, placing emotions along an energy spectrum from the lowest (shame, guilt, fear) to the highest (love, peace, enlightment). Meanwhile, the Quran discusses human spiritual dynamics through the concept of nafs, which comprises levels such as nafs al-ammarah, nafs al-lawwamah, and nafs al-muthmainnah. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, employing comparative-conceptual analysis and tematic (maudhu’i) exegesis of Quranic verses related to nafs. The result reveal a progressive correpondence between Hawkins levels of consciousness theory and the Quranic concept of nafs, especially regarding human spiritual evolution from egoistic impulses toward divine awareness. The integration of these two perspectives offers an important contribution to developing an Islamic-based spiritualpsychology paradigm that is both scientific and transdental
