(Re-)Produktion von Bildungsungleichheit im Übergang von Vorbereitungs- in Regelklassen
No full textDie Beschulung neu migrierter Schüler:innen mit keinen oder geringen Deutschkenntnissen erfolgt in der Regel zunächst in Vorbereitungsklassen, in denen die Kinder und Jugendlichen überwiegend oder ausschließlich Deutsch lernen, um sie für eine anschließende oder parallel stattfindende Beschulung in einer bereits bestehenden Regelklasse vorzubereiten. Dieser Übergang ist bildungsbiografisch bedeutend, aber bildungspolitisch wenig geregelt. Mithilfe einer Sekundäranalyse dreier qualitativer Forschungsprojekte wird dieser Übergang vor dem Hintergrund bildungsungleichheitsrelevanter Überlegungen betrachtet.
(Re-)Production of Educational Inequality in the Transition from Preparatory to Mainstream Classrooms
In Germany, newly arrived students with little or no knowledge of German are initially enrolled in so-called introductory classes. In order to prepare the children and adolescents for the full transition to the mainstream classrooms, they are taught predominantly, sometimes even exclusively, the German language. The transition is significant for the educational trajectory of the newcomers. However, there are only few legal regulations for the transition phase. Using a secondary analysis of three qualitative research projects, this transition is analyzed in relation to theories of educational inequalities.

No full textIm Rahmen des Moduls Technik und Produktion wagte Lucia Schwalenberg einen spannenden Blick in die Vergangenheit: Die Studierenden erforschten die magazinierte historische Handwebstuhlsammlung des Tuchmacher Museums Bramsche. Mit dem Ziel, rund zwei Dutzend dieser historischen Geräte zu erforschen und aufzubereiten, entsteht so die Grundlage für zukünftige Ausstellungen und museumsdidaktische Angebote. Diese Arbeit vor Ort ist ein wertvoller und praxisnaher Beitrag zur Ausbildung unserer Studierenden – ein authentisches Eintauchen in die Geschichte des Handwerks

Home Economics Schools for Women: Privileged Access to Vocational Education in Estonia (1918‒1940)
Get PDFIn Estonia, the early 20th century witnessed profound societal transformations that also shaped women’s education. Prior to this period, Estonian women primarily involved in household labor, with limited access to formal education. However, beginning in the 1920s, home economics emerged as a recognized academic discipline, leading to the establishment of several specialized schools throughout the country. This article focuses on the period from 1918 to 1940, a pivotal era for the development of home economics in Estonia. It explores the factors that contributed to its growth, the educational content it encompassed, and its impact on the social status of women. On one hand, the institutionalization of home economics elevated domestic tasks into a formal area of study and professional practice, aligning with broader state development and bringing private life into the public domain. On the other hand, it reinforced traditional gender roles, limiting women’s influence in the public sphere and maintaining their connection to domestic responsibilities
Transformation in Postmigrant Societies: Contextualizing Jochen Oltmer’s Concept of Negotiation
No full textDrawing on diverse theoretical and perspectival approaches, such as »superdiversity«, »transnationality«, and »autonomy of migration«, this article situates Oltmer’s concept of »negotiation« in current debates in migration research and examines how it can be linked to the perspective of the »postmigrant«. While the latter assumes that the distinction between migrants and non-migrants is becoming increasingly irrelevant for a productive analysis of social contexts, this remains valid for the present time with regard to negotiations. Simultaneously, the focus on negotiations enables analytical clarity and historical depth, which contribute to an understanding of the change in the social concepts of belonging.
Transformation in postmigrantischen Gesellschaften: Zur Einordnung von Jochen Oltmers Konzept der Aushandlung
Ausgehend von einer Vielzahl theoretischer und perspektivischer Zugänge der Migrationsforschung wie »Superdiversität«, »Transnationalität« oder »Autonomie der Migration« verortet der Beitrag Oltmers Konzept der »Aushandlung« in aktuellen Debatten der Migrationsforschung und fragt, inwiefern er mit der Perspektive des »Postmigrantischen« in Verbindung zu bringen ist. Während Letztere davon ausgeht, dass die Unterscheidung von Migrant:innen und Nicht-Migrant:innen für eine produktive Analyse sozialer Zusammenhänge zunehmend bedeutungslos wird, bleibt die Zuschreibung im Blick auf Aushandlungen zunächst bestehen. Zugleich ermöglicht der Fokus auf die Aushandlungen analytische Klarheit und historische Tiefe, die zum Verständnis des Wandels gesellschaftlicher Vorstellungen von Zugehörigkeit beitragen
Same same but different? Warum an Klimamigration vieles nicht neu ist und manches doch anders als bisher
Get PDFDer Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit klimawandelbedingter Migration und geht dabei zunächst der Frage nach, was Klimamigration ausmacht und inwiefern der Klimawandel sich von anderen Migrationsursachen abgrenzen lässt bzw. wie verschiedene Faktoren bei der Migrationsentscheidung zusammenwirken. Es werden drei Besonderheiten klimawandelbedingter Migration hervorgehoben: Sie ist vergleichsweise gut prognostizierbar; sie wirft auch das Thema freiwilliger Immobilität auf und tangiert damit das Recht zu bleiben; und schließlich stellt sie besonders virulent Fragen von Ungleichheit und Gerechtigkeit. Aus diesen Besonderheiten ergibt sich neuer Diskussions- und Forschungsbedarf für die Migrationsforschung, der auch eine stärkere interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit erfordert. Klimamigration wird aber zunehmend auch zum Gegenstand neuer politischer und gesellschaftlicher Debatten, in die die Migrationsforschung sich einbringen kann und sollte.
Same same but different? Why much about climate migration is not new and yet some things are different
The article deals with climate change-induced migration and starts by adressing the question of what constitutes climate migration. It then examines to what extent climate change can be distinguished from other causes of migration and how different factors interact in the decision to migrate. Three characteristics of climate change-induced migration are emphasised: It is comparatively easy to predict; it brings up the issues of voluntary immobility and the right to stay; and finally, it raises particularly virulent questions of inequality and justice. These features generate a new need for research and discussion in the field of migration research, which also requires stronger interdisciplinary cooperation. At the same time, climate migration is increasingly becoming the subject of new political and social debates in which migration research can and should become involved
