English Medium Instruction in Secondary Education: Insights from a Private Bilingual School in Pontianak
The adoption of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) is a growing trend in Indonesian education. This study investigates the implementation of EMI and students' perceptions at a private bilingual junior high school in Pontianak. A descriptive survey design was employed, with data collected through a questionnaire from 44 ninth-grade students. The findings reveal a significant discrepancy: students hold overwhelmingly positive perceptions of EMI's value for their future and their English skill development. However, data indicates a clear inconsistency in implementation. Teachers of non-language subjects (Biology, Mathematics, Physics) frequently use Bahasa Indonesia in the classroom, while the English teacher consistently uses English. The study concludes that while students are positively disposed towards and feel capable of learning via EMI, the teachers of content subjects are not fully implementing it. This suggests a gap between policy and practice, highlighting a need for targeted teacher support and training to ensure the effective execution of the school's bilingual program
How to Create Value Added and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for Sustainability of Coffee Entrepreneurs in Kerinci Regency, Indonesia: Perspective of Technology Adoption, Innovation and Capital Structure
Utilizing a quantitative method via structural equation modeling, this study explores the complex interrelationships between technology adoption, creativity, capital structure, value-added development, and the sustainability of coffee businesses in Kerinci. The results, based on a sample of 155 coffee entrepreneurs, show strong positive correlations between capital structure, the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and value-added development as well as their combined effects. By highlighting the interconnectedness of these elements and offering strategic insights for coffee businesses in Kerinci to improve their competitiveness and long-term sustainability, the study contributes to both theoretical understanding and practical consequences
Problematika Guru PAI Dalam Mengembangkan Materi Ajar Untuk Sekolah Tingkat Dasar
Materi ajar merupakan sesuatu yang bakal di ajarkan kepada para siswa, yang mana hal itu akan disesuaikan berdasarkan tingkatan kelasnya, namun dalam pengembanganya terdapat hambatan guru, baik yang bersumber dari luar maupun dari dalam. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui Kondisi Materi Pembelajaran PAI Di SDN 07 Batang Barus dan problematika guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam mengembangkan materi serta solusinya. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan (field research). Sedangkan metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, display data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa materi ajar PAI di SDN 07 Batang Barus sudah sesuai dengan Kurikulum Mardeka dan guru bertanggung jawab dalam menyusun modul ajar serta mengembangkan materi ajar. Problematika yang dihadapi guru yaitu penentuan materi ajar pai yang tidak sesuai dengan tingkat kemampuang siswa, kurangnya sarana prasarana, guru yang kurang menguasai teknologi dan kurangnya alokasi waktu pembelajaran. Solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk meminimalisir problem tersebut yaitu dengan cara melakukan monitoring oleh kepala sekolah, melengkapi sarana dan prasarana, dan melakukan pelatihan-pelatihan mengenai peningkatan kompetensi guru
Dinamika Kehidupan Sosial Masyarakat Pedesaan: Analisis dari Perspektif Sosiologi
This study examines the dynamics of rural social life from a sociological perspective using structural-functional, conflict, and symbolic interactionist theories. The findings reveal that rural communities are characterized by mutual cooperation, dependence on the agrarian sector, and strong social solidarity. However, modernization brings challenges, such as shifts in traditional values and intergenerational conflicts. Structural-functional theory illustrates social stability through mechanisms like mutual cooperation, while conflict theory highlights social change driven by group tensions. The symbolic interactionist perspective explains how individuals create and modify values through daily interactions. This study provides an in-depth understanding of rural social dynamics and serves as a guide for inclusive sustainable development policies in rural communities
Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament (TGT) Berbantuan Media Smart Kuartet terhadap Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep Siswa
The study addresses the issue of students' low conceptual understanding. It aims to examine the influence of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model supported by Smart Quartet media on enhancing students' conceptual comprehension. This quantitative research employs a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants, comprising grade 4 students from SDN Gondoriyo 02 and SDN Gondoriyo 03. Data collection techniques included both tests (pretest and posttest) and non-tests (observations, questionnaires, unstructured interviews, and documentation). The data analysis involved normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and simple regression tests. The findings revealed two key results: (1) A significant difference was observed in students' conceptual understanding when the TGT model with Smart Quartet media was applied. This was supported by an independent sample t-test significance value of 0.030 < 0.05. (2) The TGT model with Smart Quartet media positively influenced students' conceptual understanding, as indicated by a linear regression test significance value of 0.027 < 0.05. In conclusion, the Teams Games Tournament model assisted by Smart Quartet media significantly enhances the conceptual understanding of grade 4 students, highlighting its effectiveness in improving educational outcomes
Pengaruh Berkumur dengan Air Kelapa Muda (Coconut Water) terhadap Perubahan Ph Saliva pada Siswa Kelas IV & V Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Khairat Sospol Manado
In the mouth, saliva is a very important element to protect teeth against external influences, as well as from within the oral cavity itself, elementary school children are very vulnerable to dental and oral health. A decrease in salivary pH can cause rapid demineralization of tooth elements, while an increase in pH can lead to bacterial colonization which leads to increased calculus formation. Coconut water contains calcium ions, phosphorus and proteoin, which are the same substances in saliva to help the remineralization process. This study aims to determine the effect of gargling young coconut water on changes in saliva pH in students of class IV & V at Madrasah Ibtidayah Al-Khairat Sospol Manado. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a one group pre test post test design, which was carried out on 47 samples using the total sampling method. Data collection was obtained from the results of measuring saliva pH using universal pH test paper with criteria 0-14, saliva pH assessment format before and after gargling 30ml of young coconut water (Coconut Water). Data analysis used non-parametric statistical tests with the Wilcoxon test method. Based on analysis using the Wilcoxon test, it shows that there is a significant effect seen from the p value = 0.000 (0.000 < 0.05). This means that there is an effect of gargling young coconut water (Coconut Water) on the pH of saliva
Hubungan Minat Belajar dengan Hasil Belajar Penataan Rambut pada Siswa SMP 138 Terbuka Cakung 3 Jakarta
The research made with purpose to get the data of interest in learning and get the data about the result study hair styling also to know there or not the positive relation Between interest in learning and hair styling learning outcomes among students at SMP 138 Open Cakung 3 Jakarta. This research use approach correlasional. The population of this study were all life skills students at SMP 138 Open Cakung 3 Jakarta. Taking sample method in this research is purposive sampling. The sample criteria in this study were students who were taking life skills hair styling lessons at SMP 138 Open Cakung 3 Jakarta. So, the sample in this study was 32 class VIII students who took life skill. The data analysis technique used is associative quantitative techniques, analysis requirements tests, data normality tests, linearity tests. The result of this research swown that there are positive relation and significant between interest in learning and hair styling learning outcomes for students at SMP 138 Open Cakung 3 Jakarta. The majority of learning outcomes for students are in the medium category, namely 65.6%. And according to the research results, it shows that the majority of students' interest in learning is in the medium category at 78.1%. There fore, the higher the interest in learning, the higher the hair styling learning outcomes achieved by students
Penerapan Model PBL Berbasis Literasi Berbantuan Media Flinola (Flipbook Inovatif Pancasila) Upaya Peningkatan Pemahaman Nilai-Nilai Pancasila Kelas 2 Sekolah Dasar
Literacy skills significantly influence the learning process and outcomes, making it imperative for teachers to cultivate literacy habits among students. A solid grasp of literacy, coupled with the selection of appropriate learning models and media, is essential for fostering an understanding of Pancasila values. This research aimed to describe the implementation steps of a literacy-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using Flinola (an innovative Pancasila flipbook) and to assess its effectiveness in enhancing second-grade students' comprehension of Pancasila values at SDN Wates 01. A mixed-methods research design was employed. The implementation of the literacy-based PBL model using Flinola was achieved through pre-learning literacy activities and the five phases of PBL. The analysis results indicated that this learning approach was effective in improving students' understanding of Pancasila values, as evidenced by a significant increase in the average score from 56 to 85.2, and a substantial increase in the mastery rate from 16% to 92%. Furthermore, the n-gain analysis revealed a moderate increase in understanding with a value of 0.6953
Peran Guru dalam Menstimulasi Kemampuan Membaca, Menulis dan Berhitung (Calistung) pada Anak di RA Mawaddah Palangka Raya
This research discusses the role of teachers in stimulating reading, writing and counting (calistung) skills in early childhood at RA Mawaddah Palangka Raya. Calistung skills are an important basis in children's education, which supports their readiness for the next level of education. This study uses a qualitative approach with observation and interview methods to analyze the role of teachers as mentors, facilitators, and classroom managers. The results showed that teachers at RA Mawaddah were able to create fun learning through a play while learning approach. Learning media such as pictures, letter blocks, and guidebooks are used to help children recognize letter sounds, write, draw, and count simply. Teachers also provide attention and emotional support so that children feel comfortable and motivated. The effective role of teachers not only helps children master calistung, but also encourages the development of their confidence and interest in learning. This research confirms the importance of teacher innovation and creativity in the calistung learning process to support optimal early childhood development
Validitas Buku Ensiklopedia Ordo Anura di Hutan Pantai Tabanio dalam Melatih Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis
21st century education emphasizes the development of essential skills to face the challenges and dynamics of the modern world. One of the most important frameworks in education this century is 4C concept, which includes Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication. One way to train critical thinking skills is by using teaching materials such as encyclopedia books. This research aims to describe the types of Anura in the Tabanio Coastal Forest Area, the content validity, practicality (content, expectations and actual) and effectiveness (expectation and actual) of the Anura order encyclopedia. Research on encyclopedia development uses the Educational Design Research (EDR) research method with a Tessmer formative evaluation design. The research object is an encyclopedia book. The research subjects were 3 experts as validators, 3 students in individual tests, 4 students in small group tests, and 10 students in field tests. There are 8 species found in the Anura order from 4 families. The validity test results of the encyclopedia book have a valid category based on the assessments of the three validators with an average score of 3.58. It can be said that the Anura order encyclopedia book is suitable as an alternative learning resource for training students' critical thinking skills.
Pendidikan abad-21 menekankan pengembangan keterampilan yang esensial untuk menghadapi tantangan dan dinamika dunia modern. Salah satu kerangka kerja yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan abad ini adalah konsep 4C, yang mencakup Critical Thinking (Berpikir Kritis), Creativity (Kreativitas), Collaboration (Kolaborasi), dan Communication (Komunikasi). Melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis dapat dilakukan salah satunya menggunakan bahan ajar seperti buku ensiklopedia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis Anura di Kawasan Hutan Pantai Tabanio, validitas isi, kepraktisan (isi, harapan dan aktual) dan keefektifan (harapan dan aktual) ensiklopedia ordo Anura. Penelitian pengembangan ensiklopedia menggunakan metode penelitian Educational Design Research (EDR) dengan desain evaluasi formatif Tessmer. Objek penelitian adalah buku ensiklopedia. Subjek penelitian yakni 3 orang ahli sebagai validator, 3 orang mahasiswa pada uji perorangan, 4 orang mahasiswa pada uji kelompok kecil, dan 10 mahasiswa pada uji lapangan. Ordo Anura yang ditemukan sebanyak 8 spesies dari 4 famili. Hasil uji validitas buku ensiklopedia memiliki kategori valid berdasarkan penilaian dari ketiga validator dengan skor rata-rata 3,58. Hal ini dapat dikatakan bahwa buku ensiklopedia ordo Anura layak sebagai salah satu alternatif sumber belajar untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir krtitis mahasiswa
