¿Sueña Google con ovejas conectadas? Las voces de las miríadas silenciosas en Quédate este día y esta noche conmigo (2017) de Belén Gopegui
Full text linkThe aim of this article is to show, using Belén Gopegui’s novel Quédate este día y esta noche conmigo (2017), some links between literature and socio-political engagement in our hypertechnological environment, since in it the author focuses her attention on Google as the epitome of contemporary society. In order to highlight her criticisms and proposals, the text will be brought into dialogue with different essays on the above-mentioned enterprise. In this way, it will become clear which are the most prominent aspects considered by Gopegui, in narrating the experiences of a university student and an ill sexagenarian, to realize her claim and to provide alternatives. Indeed, if on the one hand she reveals the connections between Google and capitalism and the consequences that this entails for ordinary citizens, on the other she suggests some strategies that can be used against a “common sense” that nowadays is increasingly determined by algorithms.El objetivo del presente artículo es mostrar a través de la novela Quédate este día y esta noche conmigo (2017), de Belén Gopegui, algunas imbricaciones entre literatura y compromiso políticosocial en el contexto hipertecnológico contemporáneo, ya que en ella la autora centra su atención en Google como epítome de nuestra sociedad. Para resaltar sus críticas y propuestas, se hará dialogar el texto con diferentes ensayos elaborados en el ámbito de los estudios culturales sobre dicha empresa. Se pondrán así de manifiesto cuáles son los aspectos en que Gopegui, aprovechando las vivencias de un joven universitario y de una sexagenaria enferma, insiste para realizar su denuncia y brindar alternativas disidentes. En efecto, si por un lado desvela las conexiones con el capital de Google y sus consecuencias en los ciudadanos de a pie, por el otro, sugiere formas de resistencia contra un «sentido común» cada vez más determinado por los algoritmos
Mariana de Carvajal (y Piédrola): luces y sombras de una indagación biográfica
Full text linkIn the early twentieth century, Manuel Serrano y Sanz identified Mariana de Carvajal y Saavedra, author of Navidades de Madrid y noches entretenidas (1663), of whom there is not historical record, with Mariana de Carvajal y Piédrola, and he provided valuable data about her. The article completes her biographic trajectory from other documents not handled till now. However, the authorship is not clarified in them. In addition to varied family documentation, we can find among them her baptismal items and that of her children, her marriage file, her will, her death certificate and subsequent inventory of goods for auction.A inicios del siglo XX, Manuel Serrano y Sanz identificó a Mariana de Carvajal y Saavedra, autora de Navidades de Madrid y noches entretenidas (1663), de quien no se tiene constancia histórica, con Mariana de Carvajal y Piédrola, sobre la que aportó valiosos datos. El artículo completa su trayectoria biográfica a partir de otros documentos no manejados hasta ahora que, no obstante, siguen dejando en penumbra la cuestión de la autoría. Aparte de variada documentación familiar, se hallan entre estos partidas bautismales de ella y de sus hijos, su expediente matrimonial, su testamento y acta de defunción y el posterior inventario de bienes para almoneda
«De la espagírica el voraz descaro»: claves poéticas en la polémica novatora (1694-1700)
Full text linkThe controversy between Novatores and Galenist physicians in Spain at the end of the seventeenth century was particularly relevant in the city of Seville, with the University of Medicine and the Veneranda Tertulia Hispalense as main strongholds for both factions. Even though the thesis and the medical practices confronted have been analyzed by the critics from different perspectives (History of Medicine, History of Ideas, Sociology, etc.), they have always disregarded the preliminary poems included in the treatises that articulated the dispute. In this short paper, I will tackle those poems, published in diverse Andalusian cities between 1694 and 1700, and I will try to give account of the main rhetorical strategies used to transfer the historical quarrel into the fiction of the verse.La polémica entre médicos novatores y galenistas en la España de finales del siglo XVII tuvo especial relevancia en Sevilla, con la Universidad de Medicina y la recién inaugurada Veneranda Tertulia Hispalense como principales bastiones de ambos bandos. Aunque las tesis y las prácticas medicinales traídas al centro del debate han sido analizadas por la crítica desde diferentes perspectivas (Historia de la Medicina, Historia de las Ideas, Sociología, etc.), siempre se han pasado por alto los poemas preliminares incluidos en los tratados que articularon la contienda. En estas breve páginas, abordaremos, pues, esos poemas publicados en diferentes ciudades andaluzas entre 1694 y 1700, e intentaremos dar cuenta de cuáles fueron las principales estrategias retóricas mediante las cuales los autores transfirieron la confrontación histórica al plano ficcional del verso

Full text linkThis paper sets out to examine Ramón Gómez de la Serna’s journalistic work through a corpus of unpublished letters. We will document the inner mechanisms by which Ramón’s work for El Sol y La Voz was governed, from the chrematistic aspects, to the negotiations of his collaborations. In this article, we will also emphasize the importance of the author’s connection to the intellectual circles of such newspapers, not only regarding his career, but also in respect to the course of his personal life. To sum up, we will present the keys of the professionalisation of the writer’s figure during the interwar period in relation to the media.Este trabajo explora la faceta periodística de Ramón Gómez de la Serna a través de un corpus epistolar inédito. Documentaremos los mecanismos internos que rigieron el trabajo de Ramón para El Sol y La Voz, desde los aspectos crematísticos hasta la negociación de sus colaboraciones. En este artículo, subrayaremos, además, la importancia que tuvo el engarce del autor en el círculo intelectual de tales periódicos, no solo para su carrera, sino también para su trayectoria vital. Con todo, aportaremos claves sobre la profesionalización de la figura del escritor en el periodo de entreguerras, en relación con los medios de comunicación
La ficcionalidad como retórica: estudio de Lecciones del camino de Arantxa Urretabizkaia
Full text linkThe article analyses the work Lecciones del camino by Arantxa Urretabizkaia from the perspective of the rtheoric of fictionality. It is a book that has generated a debate on his fictionality because it’s fictional status it is not clear. Firstly, the article explains the debate on fictionality and the different perspective in it, framed in two fundamental trends: the syntactic-semantic perspective and the pragmatic perspective, that is included the rhetoric of fictionality. Then, the article studies the different aspects that must be taken into account in order to stablish Lecciones del camino’s fictionality, divided in transtextual (paratext and metatext) elements and intratextual ones (mind representation, metalepsis and narrators multiplicity). It concludes that, although the text has been catalogued mainly as non-fictional, Lecciones del camino is highly fictional.El presente artículo analiza la obra Lecciones del camino de Arantxa Urretabizkaia desde la teoría retórica de la ficcionalidad. Se trata de una obra que ha suscitado debate en torno a su carácter (o no) ficcional, y que, por tanto, su status de ficcionalidad no es claro. Así, primeramente, el artículo plantea el debate sobre la ficcionalidad y sus diferentes enfoques, englobándolos en las dos corrientes mayoritarias, la sintáctico-semántica y la pragmática, situando a la teoría retórica en esta última. A continuación, el artículo estudia los diferentes aspectos a tener en cuenta para el establecimiento de la ficcionalidad de Lecciones del camino, divididos entre elementos transtextuales (paratexto y metatexto) e intratextuales (representación de mentes, metalepsis y multiplicidad de narradores). Después del análisis, concluye que, pese a que ha sido catalogada mayoritariamente como no-ficción, Lecciones del camino tiene un alto grado de ficcionalidad

Full text linkDisplacement and foreign lands are coordinates from which much of the best poetry of recent centuries has been written, poetry that questions its identity when establishing itself in territories where astonishment and strangeness germinate from a perturbing distinctiveness (Hölderlin, Rimbaud, Pessoa, Celan, Valente, etc.). In this way, poetry puts the seemingly unalterable status of any identity at risk, the indivisibility or coherence of the stroke of a line that refuses to bend and persists in moving forward. The problem then comes from the consistency and firmness of the shield that the line encounters when exploring the limits of a space that will need to be crossed to find, as Roberto Juarroz asked for, the other side of things.El desplazamiento y la extranjería son coordenadas desde las que se ha escrito buena parte de la mejor poesía de estos últimos siglos, una poesía que cuestiona su mismidad al emplazarse en territorios donde germinan el asombro y el extrañamiento de una otredad inquietante (Hölderlin, Rimbaud, Pessoa, Celan, Valente, etc.). De ese modo, la poesía pone en riesgo el estatuto aparentemente inalterable de cualquier identidad, la indivisibilidad o la coherencia del trazo de una línea que se resiste a doblarse y se obstina en seguir avanzando. El problema entonces viene dado por la consistencia y la firmeza del escudo con las que se enfrenta esa línea al explorar los límites de un espacio que necesariamente habrá que traspasar para dar, como pedía Roberto Juarroz, con el revés de las cosas
Unamuno y la experiencia del mar. Un recorrido poético
Full text linkMiguel de Unamuno had for many years a vision of the landscape impregnated with historical and literary mediations. This can be seen in his theoretical writings on this subject and also in his first books of poetry. This view took a turn during his exile in Fuerteventura, where he had a profound experience of the sea, metaphysical in scope, which led him to change not only his view of nature, but also of religion, writing and history. Following this process there is also an evolution in his poetic style, which is opened more and more to rhythm and rhyme, culminating in the verses of Cancionero, to which he dedicated the last years of his life.Miguel de Unamuno tuvo durante muchos años una visión del paisaje impregnada de mediaciones históricas y literarias. Así puede verse en sus escritos teóricos sobre el tema y también en sus primeros libros de poesía. Esta mirada dio un giro durante su destierro en Fuerteventura, donde tuvo una experiencia profunda del mar, de alcance metafísico, que le llevó a cambiar no solo su mirada sobre la naturaleza, sino también sobre la religión, la escritura y la historia. Siguiendo este proceso se produce también una evolución en su estilo poético, que va abriéndose cada vez más al ritmo y a la rima hasta culminar en los versos de Cancionero, a los que dedica los últimos años de su vida

Full text linkWe analyze in this work the concomitances and parallels mantained by Campo de amapolas blancas by Gonzalo Hidalgo Bayal with Cortázar’s work through the detailed study of the writing process, the role of the narrator and the narrative structural elements, intertextual footprints (literary, cinematographic, philosophical, pictorial, musical), symbolic spaces and motifs and rhetorical components, among others. All these components shape the poetics of evocation and the rhetoric of dissatisfaction through which both writers show their conception of literary work.Analizamos en este trabajo las concomitancias y paralelismos que mantiene Campo de amapolas blancas de Gonzalo Hidalgo Bayal con la obra de Cortázar a través del estudio pormenorizado del proceso de escritura, del papel del narrador y los elementos estructurales narrativos, de las huellas intertextuales (literarias, cinematográficas, filosóficas, pictóricas, musicales), de los espacios y motivos simbólicos y de los componentes retóricos, entre otros. Todos estos componentes configuran la poética de la evocación y la retórica de la insatisfacción mediante la cual ambos escritores muestran su concepción de la obra literaria

Full text linkAlthough brief, Guillermo de Torre and Vicente Aleixandre maintained an epistolary dialogue between 1948 and 1966 that revolves around literary and editorial matters. Aleixandre was concerned that his work would spread throughout Latin America and also made representations to Losada on behalf of his friend Miguel Hernández. On the other hand, the letters reveal the common liberal background of both correspondents and the attempt to build a bridge of dialogue between the less sectarian members of the internal and external exile. Although in an elliptical manner, Aleixandre shows his satisfaction with the fall of the Peronist regime and his desire for something similar to happen in Spain.Aunque breve, Guillermo de Torre y Vicente Aleixandre mantuvieron entre sí un diálogo epistolar entre 1948 y 1966 que gira en torno a asuntos literarios y editoriales. Aleixandre se preocupó porque su obra se difundiera por Hispanoamérica y también realizó gestiones ante Losada en favor de su amigo Miguel Hernández. Por otra parte, las cartas revelan el común fondo liberal de ambos corresponsales y el intento de edificar un puente de diálogo entre los miembros menos sectarios del exilio interior y exterior. Aunque de forma elíptica, Aleixandre muestra su satisfacción por la caída del régimen peronista y su deseo de que algo similar ocurriera en España
Notas sobre la novela gráfica de viaje: un arte icónico verbal
Full text linkThrough the analysis of a specific sample of travel graphic novels published in the Spanish publishing scene in recent years, I intend to reinforce the theoretical position that defines the graphic novel as an independent artistic manifestation, and not as a subgenre within the narrative. The graphic novel is an artistic form capable of representing the journey, through a double verbal and iconic code. The frequent autofictional voice, the significant autonomy of the graphic element, as well as the sequential succession of the vignettes, which gives temporality to the different journeys, make the illustrated travel narrative a modality within the graphic novel as iconic verbal art. To support this theory, I review recently published significant travel samples that show that, although with undoubted connections to the literary travel story, the travel graphic novel stands as a subgenre within this independent art, with peculiar conditions of composition. , editorial and receptive, whose definition must take into account the semiological process that involves the use of language and illustration.A través del análisis de una muestra concreta de novelas gráficas de viaje publicadas en el panorama editorial español de los últimos años, pretendo reforzar la posición teórica que define la novela gráfica como una manifestación artística independiente, y no como un subgénero dentro de la narrativa. La novela gráfica es una forma artística capaz de representar el viaje, mediante un doble código verbal e icónico. La frecuente voz autoficcional, la autonomía significativa del elemento gráfico, así como la sucesión secuencial de las viñetas, que dota de temporalidad a los distintos desplazamientos, hacen de la narrativa de viajes ilustrada una modalidad dentro de la novela gráfica como arte icónico verbal. Para avalar esta teoría, hago un repaso a muestras significativas de viaje publicadas recientemente que demuestran que, aunque con indudables conexiones con el relato de viajes literario, la novela gráfica de viajes se alza como subgénero dentro de este arte independiente, con peculiares condiciones de composición, editoriales y receptivas, en cuya definición se debe tener en cuenta el proceso semiológico que comporta el uso del lenguaje y la ilustración
