Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the food commodities that has an important role in Indonesia after rice and has considerable market opportunities. This study aimed to determine the control of leaf blight in corn plants in Suka Menang village, Gelumbang sub-district, Muara Enim district, South Sumatra. Data collected included the type of disease that attacked and its intensity. The results of the research obtained from 5 farmers' fields in Suka Menang village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency, namely the highest level of disease, were found on Mrs. Watini's land (58.00%), Mr. Manijo's land (37.50%), and Mr. Supriyadi's land (15.50%). In plant maintenance on five corn fields, there are farmers who carry out plant maintenance, such as weeding, and some do not. Farmers who do weed have different frequencies. The control carried out by farmers in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency combines technical culture control with intercropping, variety selection, and chemical control with pesticides. Results of this study indicate that corn farmers in Suka Menang Village, Gelumbang District, and Muara Enim Regency have mostly controlled leaf blight on corn plants. Maize farmers in Suka Menang village have used vegetable pesticides but the effects are long-lasting so according to farmers, it is not effective enough to fulfill such consumer demands. Therefore, farmers inevitably still use chemical pesticides even though they have to pay additional costs. In addition, the reason chemical pesticides are still used is because of the pressure from consumers who want good and smooth corn yields and a lot of demand. So, the conclusion of this study is that indirectly the behavior of farmers in cultivation has carried out the components of integrated disease control on the five corn fields including crop rotation, land sanitation, variety selection, balanced fertilization, technical culture and others

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The survival of stingless bee populations is threatened, partly due to loss of natural habitat due to land use change and deforestation. This study aimed to determine how to cultivate stingless bees in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. The method used is survey or direct observation in the field to observe tools and materials for making nest boxes, multiplying colonies, harvesting honey, packaging honey, marketing and conducting interviews with stingless bee farmers. This study interviewed one stingless bee farmer. Tools and materials used in making nests include trees, boards, nails, hammers, zinc, plastic, bricks, saws. The development and number of colonies depends on the forage plants around the hive. Honey harvesting tools and materials include a honey suction machine, sticks/toothpicks and honey storage. Honey packaging uses labeled syrup bottles. The resulting stingless bee honey products are sold in the Prabumulih traditional market, Palembang, social media and come directly to the stingless bee cultivation garden. The results showed that stingless bee cultivation is carried out by starting with land preparation, then finding colonies, moving colonies, maintaining colonies and harvesting honey. Stingless bee cultivation methods should be socialized to the community so that they can practice stingless bee cultivation which is beneficial for agricultural ecosystems, human health and also as a source of livelihood

The aimed of this research is to analyse the legal problems of developing smart silvofishery ponds in mangrove rehabilitation and formulate legal strategies to overcome them. The method is a socio-legal research method with a qualitative approach used. The research results show that legal problems in the development of smart silvofishery ponds occur as a result of the absence of specific regulations governing this matter. Government and the community feel that they have no obligation to develop smart silvofishery ponds which will affect mangrove rehabilitation efforts. Besides that, fish farming operators do not understand the concept and urgency of smart silvofishery. Facing these problems, legal strategies are important to implement. Referring to the theory of legal formation, the law aims to integrate and coordinate various interests in society because in a traffic of interests, protection of certain interests can only be done by limiting various interests on the other side. The legal strategy is developed by establishing regulations at the central, regional and local levels regarding legal protection, both preventive and repressive. Preventive legal protection includes provisions that are preventative (prohabited) and repressive legal protection that is punitive (sanction). Multi-stakeholder roles and meaningful community participation are also needed

Productivity of orange plants is still relatively low because of the many disturbances encountered. The main disturbance in orange plants today is a disruption in their cultivation practices. Pests of citrus plants can cause farmers difficulties in getting maximum results. Investigating the species of pest attacking orange plants is important to determine what steps to take. The aimed of the research was identified insect pests and attack symptoms in the orange plant C. sinensis at the Sriwijaya University Agrotech Training Center (ATC), Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. Research is carried out by survey methods. Catching and observing insect pests was done once a week for ± 2 months. The results of the research state that pest insects obtained in the orange plant C. sinensis are Blattella vaga, Bothrogonia addita, Cletus punctiger, Diaphorina citri, Hypomeces squamosus, Leptoglossus gonagra, Nezara viridula, Planococcus citri, Rhynchocoris longirostris, and Toxoptera aurantii. The species that dominates pests in the orange plant C. sinensis is the Rhynchocoris longirostris. It can be concluded that the insect that is known to damage orange plants C. sinensis L. is the order of the hemiptera and the spiny green ladybug species R. longirostris. This ladybug saves the eggs in leaves with an amount of 9 to 14 eggs. Ladybug eggs will hatch for ± 5-8 days after being placed. The spent cycle consists of eggs, five instars, nymphs and adults.

(pp. 252-261).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Ceratocystis is a serious threat to industrial forest plants, especially Eucalyptus. The purpose of this research is to identify the attack of Ceratocystis sp. on eucalyptus plants in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The method was carried out by taking samples of sick and healthy plants using a purposive sampling method. Samples were taken of 30 samples of diseased plants, then cut to 5x5 mm size and planted in MEA media. The results obtained, the severity of the Ceratocystis disease attack which was directly identified with an average score of 4 was indicated by the yellowing of the entire eucalyptus leaves and the plant died with a presentation of 71% -100%. Ceratocystis disease attack on eucalyptus shows characteristic symptoms in the form of light brown sunken spots around the surface, then these spots will expand and blacken and cause plant stems to become dry rot and the plants die. Ceratocystis disease is transmitted through root contact between healthy and diseased trees, stem or root wounds due to pruning of the trunk. So, the incidence rate of Ceratocystis sp. and the highest attack intensity was 7,208 in the EP77 clone and there were no disease attacks in the other clones. From this research, it is hoped that further research will be carried out regarding the identification of Ceratocystis sp. molecularly to obtain accurate data about this disease

(pp. 428-438).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Cultivating rice on suboptimal land tends to require the readiness of production inputs, including seeds that are able to adapt to anomalous land conditions. In the midst of the widespread use of superior seed varieties, it turns out that there are still groups of farmers who still persist in using local varieties on sub-optimal land, as is done by rice farmers in Palembang City. This research aimed to compare how production inputs are actually used, along with the production produced and the income obtained by farmers who use the two different types of seeds. In carrying out this research, it used survey method, with a sample of 30 people from each level of farmers who used local and superior varieties. The primary data obtained is tabulated, processed and tested with relevant statistical tests. The research results show that there is no significant difference in the use of production inputs except for the type of seed, which causes differences in planting time and harvest time, where land using local varieties requires a longer planting period with a difference of 2 months. Comparative testing of production and income shows that the production and income of rice farmers who use local varieties is greater than the income of rice farmers who use superior varieties in Palembang City. The conclusion that can be formulated is that the difference between rice cultivation using local seeds and superior seeds in lebak land lies in the planting age, production and production costs incurred, and income obtained

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).South Sumatra has 83.87% of the population whose livelihood is in the agricultural sector. The correlation of farmer scores with the average intensity of pests and diseases shows a minus value the smaller the farmer’s score, the greater the intensity of pest attacks in the field. The value of the correlation analysis of farmer scores with the intensity of pest attacks and diseases shows 0.60%. This study aimed to analyse pests and diseases found in the Air Kumbang District. The method used in this research is a direct survey in the field with systematic sampling or interval sampling. The results showed a correlation of farmers' scores with the number of pest types 0.28% and disease types 0.16%. The main diseases of long bean plants include the mosaic virus some cases show an attack of up to 42.85%, while the yellow virus can cause a 32.70% attack. The higher the attack percentage, the more it will inhibit plant photosynthesis, while the lowest pest-affected chilli plants have the highest average yields of 52.33 g and 57.2 g respectively. This study concludes that the negative correlation value shows that if the insight into the behaviour of farmers using pesticides is small, it tends to contradict and increase the intensity of pests and diseases. Research on pests and diseases should be well understood in order to facilitate researchers in the research process. Knowledge in research on pests and diseases should be understood more deeply in order to facilitate researchers in the research process

The inability of a country to meet its food needs will directly impact the country's dependence on imports from other countries. This will be a serious problem if the spike in food prices occurs again with a higher intensity and longer period. The efforts to increase food production today, especially in the future, will be increasingly difficult. The main challenge to increase food production is that the availability of agricultural land tends to decline due to conversion for the benefit of various other economic sectors. Indeed, the current technology is ready to produce food without using land, but the production costs are still too expensive compared to conventional crop cultivation which relies on land availability. The next challenge in efforts to increase food production is the necessity to ensure that the cultivation process does not reduce the quality of ecological functions, let alone damage the environment, so that food production can be sustainable. Currently, in addition to economic and ecological considerations, the food production process is also expected to be inclusive, i.e., providing opportunities for the majority of smallholder farmers and rural communities to participate. The social dimension in food production should not be ignored. The problem of increasing food production will become more complex. The dominant technical-agronomic solutions carried out today have proven ineffective and sometimes generate new problems. As a wiser but challenging alternative is to employ the principle of sustainable intensification in food production. So far, the tropical wetlands have not been intensively utilized in Indonesia. It is time for the wetlands to be managed intensively, ecologically, and inclusively

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Corn and soybeans are one of the crops that are in great demand in the community, because the results are easy to manage both for food and as livestock needs. In the intercropping pattern of corn and soybeans, it is necessary to pay attention to the limited living space. Planting distances that are too narrow will cause competition for water, nutrients, and absorption of sunlight. The aimed of the research was to study the competition in various intercropping patterns of maize and various soybean lines. The research was carried out in the experimental field of Agro Techno Park (ATP) Universitas Brawijaya which is located in Jatikerto village, Kromengan, Reg. Malang, East Java. Planting materials used include soybean varieties UB1, UB2, UB3, UB4 and corn varieties R007. The results of this study indicate that the use of an intercropping pattern between soybean and corn using a one-row and two-row system gives decent results with LER and R/C ratio >1. In the two-row cropping pattern, maize is superior based on the competition ratio analysis but is more submissive in the aggressiveness analysis. From the overall treatment, the highest score was obtained in the intercropping treatment between two rows of UB4 and corn plants

Mangrove forest in Lubuk Kertang Village, Brandan Barat, Langkat, Indonesia has been converted about 20 ha annually from 1996-2016 into non-forest land use. Rehabilitation can be a solution to restore the condition of the ecosystem in order to carry out its ecological and economic functions. This paper discusses the evaluation of rehabilitation carried out with different planting materials, with the planting of 6000 Rhizophora apiculata propagules in December 2015 and 5000 R. apiculata seedlings in May 2016 on abandoned ponds in Lubuk Kertang village. Monitoring performed every 6 months from 2016 to 2022. For 48 months, monitoring was done by sampling and starting in 2019, census monitoring was carried out when seedlings grewto sapling and tree level in December 2019 to May 2022. Measurements in 2021 were not carried out due to the Covid-19 pandemic 19 was at its peak. The results of the study showed that during the rehabilitation activities, the forest became heterogeneous from one species increased to 6 species with propagule material and 8 species with seedling planting material. Rehabilitation activities in Lubuk Kertang Village is a clear example of the success of species diversity, number of individual plants, and carbon stocks
