Penurunan Kadar Oksalat Pati Talas Beneng (Xanthosoma undipes K. Koch) pada Berbagai Konsentrasi NaCl dan Lama Perendaman

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Starch is a group of polysaccharides composed of amylose and amylopectin. Taro beneng (Xanthosoma undipes K. Koch) is one of local commodity tubers that has the potential to be used as starch. The problem with taro beneng is content of oxalate which is in water soluble (oxalic acid) and insoluble (calcium oxalate) forms. This study aimed to determine the effect of NaCl concentrations and soaking time on reducing oxalate levels and oxalate reduction values of taro beneng starch. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two treatment factors, namely NaCl concentrations (5%; 7.5% and 10%) and soaking time (30 minutes; 60 minutes and 90 minutes). The results showed that the difference in NaCl concentrations and soaking time had significant effect on the decrease in oxalate levels and the increase in oxalate reduction values of taro beneng starch. Taro beneng starch soaked for 90 minutes in 10% NaCl solution was the best treatment, because it had the lowest oxalate level (2700 ppm) and the highest reduction value (93.18%)

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The aimed of the study was to compare the levels of soil organic matter in cultivated paddy fields with rice-paddy and rice-palawija cropping patterns in Pagar Alam Selatan District, Pagar Alam City. This research was conducted in Pagar Alam Selatan District, Pagar Alam City and soil analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Sampling was carried out using a grid survey method with a detailed survey level to compare between treatments using the T test. The parameter measured was C-organic analyzed by the Walkey and Black method. The results showed that the levels of organic matter in the two paddy fields in Pagar Alam Selatan District, Pagar Alam City were very high with the average soil organic matter content in paddy fields with a rice-paddy cropping pattern of 11.96% and an average organic matter content of 11.96%. soil in paddy fields with rice-crop crops pattern is 9.96%. The organic matter content of paddy fields with rice-paddy cropping patterns was significantly different from that of paddy-palawija cropping patterns

Palembang: Penerbit dan Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The purposes of this study were to identify and study animal feed management in the Experimental Cage, Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Universitas Sriwijaya. The method used is a survey method consisting of primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained directly in the field through direct interviews with respondents in this case are the head of the cage and the staff of the cage, while secondary data were obtained from related institutions, namely the Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Universitas Sriwijaya and livestock environmental conditions. The data obtained are then processed and presented in the form of descriptions and pictures. This observations be discovered that the beef cattle rearing system using a semi-intensive maintenance system and the management of feeding beef cattle in experimental cages is quite good but for the provision of concentrate feed it is still less visible than the percentage of body weight of cattle which is on average less than 2% while for feeding forage only relies on forage around the experimental enclosure

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).This study aimed to determine the effect of natural anaerobic robusta coffee formulation, raw extract of catechin gambier and young areca nut on the characteristics of functional coffee. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), namely the formulation of natural anaerobic robusta coffee, gambier catechin crude extract and young areca nut powder. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Each treatment was as follows: 100% natural anaerobic robusta coffee: 0% crude catechin gambier extract: 0% young betel nut powder; 89% natural anaerobic robusta coffee: 7% crude extract of gambier catechins: 4% young areca nut powder; 86% natural anaerobic robusta coffee: 7% crude extract of gambier catechins: 7% young areca nut powder; 83% natural anaerobic robusta coffee: 7% raw extract of gambier catechins: 10% young areca nut powder; 80% natural anaerobic robusta coffee: 7% crude extract of gambier catechins: 13% powdered areca nut. The parameters observed in this study were chemical characteristics (pH, total phenol, antioxidant activity, water content and ash content), physical characteristics (colour) and sensory tests (color, taste and aroma). The results showed that the addition of gambier catechin extract and powdered areca nut significantly affected the color (lightness (L*), redness (a*), yellowness (b*)), total phenol and antioxidant activity. The best treatment was a combination of natural anaerobic robusta coffee 80%: 7% gambier catechin crude extract: young areca nut 13% based on antioxidant activity and total phenol with characteristic pH 5.21, total phenol 171.07 mgGAE/g, antioxidant activity 23.28 ppm, 7.17% water content and 5.98% ash content

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The productivity of food crops and horticulture in human needs is threatened due to attacks by pests and pathogens with a total global loss around 50 up to 80%. Continuous application of pesticides in control negatively affects pest resistance, pollutes soil, water, biota, also on farmers and consumers health. This review aimed to summarize the potential of endophytic fungi that are useful as biocontrol agents and growth promoters of food and horticulture crops in suboptimal land. It is suspected that endophytic fungi in horticultural crops are the most widely reported as biocontrol agents and plant growth promoters. The scope of this paper is limited to review scientific articles based on data exploration of endophytic fungi (biology, isolation, and identification of endophytic fungi), their biological activities, and growth promoters in increasing crop productivity. Endophytic fungi are important components of plant micro-ecosystems that are widely found in healthy plant tissues such as the genera acremonium, cladosporium, beauveria, metarhizium, muscodor, periconia, ampelomyces, chaetomium, cryptosporiopsis, nodulisporium, penicillium, phomopsis, and others. Endophytic fungi produce excellent metabolites as biocontrol and growth promoting agents such as antibiotics, antivirals, antiprotozoal, antiparasitic, antioxidant, and immunosuppressant compounds that can be utilized for agricultural and food industries. More than 100 species of endophytic fungi have been reported worldwide as biocontrol and plant growth promoters. Based on the literature review, it can be concluded that endophytic fungi have great potential as biocontrol agents and growth promoters of food crops and horticulture in suboptimal land farming in a sustainable manner

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Rice (Oryza sativa) is one of the plants that is an important commodity in Indonesia, various efforts have been made to increase rice production, but often encounter obstacles, one of which is the presence of organismal pests, especially insects. Therefore, it’s necessary to have the role of natural enemies in the form of predatory insects in controlling rice pests. This study aimed to determine the number and types of predatory insects found in rice plants in three villages, namely Muara Penimbung Village, Tanjung Sejaro Village, Sakatiga Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. This research method was carried out by observing and using yellow traps installed in the rice fields to catch predatory insects. From the research results in the three villages, there are predatory insects with four different orders, namely the order Odonata, order Coleoptera, order Hemiptera, and order Diptera. The order Odonata (dragonfly) consists of 4 species: Pantala flavescents, Orthetrum sabina, Agriocnemis minima, Orthetrum Chrysis. Then the order Coleoptera (beetle) found consisted of 4 species: Epilachna admirabilis, Paederus fuscipes, Micraspis discolor, Diekeana admirabilis. order Hemiptera found 1 species, namely: Andrallus spinidens. One species of the order Diptera, namely: Asilidae sp. So, it can be concluded that predatory insects on rice plants are very diverse and consist of various orders that can be used as natural enemies to control insect pests or plant pests. Further education is needed about the important role of predatory insects as natural enemies of plant pest control.

Koi fish are one of the ornamental fish that have cultivation prospects that are in great demand. One of the factors that influences koi fish cultivation is stocking density, high stocking density can have an impact on the growth rate and survival of koi fish. Fish density influences cultivation which can cause competition for food and space for fish to move which can affect fish growth. The aimed of this experiment is to determine the optimal stocking density for the growth and survival of koi fish seeds. This experiment used 2 treatments, namely P1 (stocking density of 200 individuals m2) and P2 (stocking density of 150 individuals m2). The results obtained in treatment (P1) with a stocking density of 200 individuals m2 were growth in length and absolute weight of 1.32 cm and 3.08 g and survival was 100%. The temperature during the maintenance period ranged from 27-28oC and the pH during the maintenance period was found to be around 6.5-7.9. It can be concluded that (P1) with a stocking density of 200 m2 is the best treatment for growth in absolute length and weight, survival and water quality during maintenance at a stocking density of koi fish

The majority of the population in district Banyuasin regency are self-funding farmers of oil palm. The problems faced by oil palm self-funding farmers are the lack of transportation facilities, inadequate road access, oil palm productivity and lack of information about prices, causing self-funding smallholders to only be the recipients of prices. The objectives of this study were to (1) Describe the marketing channels for fresh fruit bunches of oil palm self-funding farmer (2) Calculate the marketing margin and the percentage share of the price received by self-funding oil palm farmer (3) Calculating the level of marketing efficiency of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) carried out by self-funding oil palm farmer. This research was conducted in District Banyuasin Regency from February to March 2022. The research method used was a survey method. The sampling method used to take samples of oil palm self-funding farmer is a simple random method with a total of 35 farmers as respondents. sampling method used to determine the sample of traders collecting snowball sampling method. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The results of this study found that there was only one marketing channel pattern for oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) self-funding smallholders in Sub District Air Kumbang District Banyuasin Regency which included: Self-funding farmer – Collectors – Palm oil mills. The value of the marketing margin is Rp.260.00/Kg, the value of farmer's share is 93.69% and the marketing efficiency of self-funding smallholder oil palm fresh fruit bunches is stated to be efficient with a marketing efficiency value of 5,54%

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Providing organic fertilizer is important for shallot plants (Allium ascalonicum L.) because organic fertilizer has advantages compared to inorganic fertilizer, namely that it is more environmentally friendly and safe when applied to soil media. One type of organic fertilizer that is often used by farmers is chicken manure. Chicken manure contains quite high levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium nutrients which are useful for shallot plants. This research aimed to determine the best dose of chicken manure for the growth and yield of shallot plants (Allium ascolanicum L.) of the bauji variety. The research was carried out at the Sriwijaya University Campus Experimental Garden, South Sumatra at the coordinates 3 13'29.74”S 104 38'54.13”E which was carried out in June-August 2023. The design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 replications. The dose of chicken manure used is 10 tons/ha (40 g/polybag); 20 tons/ha (80 g/polybag); 30 tons/ha (120 g/polybag) and without chicken manure as a control. Parameters observed included leaf length, number of leaves, number of tillers, leaf greenness level, total chlorophyll content, leaf area, root length, number of tubers, tuber diameter, tuber length, tuber volume, fresh weight of tubers, dry weight of tubers, fresh weight, bushmeat and dry weight of bushmeat per plant. The results of the study showed that the application of chicken manure had a significant effect on the growth and yield of shallot plants. Giving chicken manure at a dose of 120 g/polybag resulted in better number of leaves, leaf greenness, leaf area, number of tubers and tuber production compared to giving other doses of chicken manure

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Water sources that are close to landfills have the potential to be polluted by leachate from landfills and if it enters rice field irrigation channels, it will pollute agricultural products. This study aimed to determine the potential of acid-activated corn cob adsorbent in absorbing Fe metal in rice field irrigation water sources around Pakusari Jember landfill, as well as the effect of acid addition and activation time on adsorbent absorption. The research was conducted using nitric acid activator with variation of activation time ranging from 1 - 4 hours. The effect of acid activation time on mass gain and Fe content of adsorbent was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of this study indicate that acid-activated corn cob biosorbent causes the number of active sides on the adsorbent to become more so that after activation it is able to absorb metals. Activation time for 2 hours is the most optimal variation because it absorbs Fe metal with the highest level of 2.14%. At 3 - 4 hours of activation, the desorption process occurs so that Fe levels are lower. All four samples have Fe levels that exceed the Ministry of Health's recommendation so it is recommended to do water treatment first before being used for irrigating rice fields
