New Construction of an Ideal Educational System in Japan : Considering the American Educational System with a Focus on English Speech
Full text link本論文は，筆者が過去にサバティカル休暇を利用して留学した際に，主としてアメリカ合衆国(一部イギリス）で見た教育制度に照らして，日本における教育の理想像，特に英語音声教育のあるべき姿を明らかにするために，実践的，具体的，かつ批判的なアプローチで論述したものである。既に，過去の論文にも，留学体験の一部を紹介してきたが，本稿では，それ以上に詳しく述べたいと思う。主としてアメリカ留学での経験を基にして論述することとする。留学当時，筆者はアメリカの教育システムで，特徴的かつ重要なものの幾つかが，近いうち，日本の教育システムにも導入されるものと思っていたが，一部表層的な要素は導入されても，最も本質的な要素は全く導入されてこなかった様に思われる。特に英語音声教育の面で，真の意味で「日本における理想的な教育システム」が実現されるために，本稿がその一助となれば幸いである。This study takes a practical, concrete, and critical approach to discussing the Japanese educational system to clarify the ideal image of the educational system in Japan, especially English speech education. This was done considering the educational system prevalent in the United States (and partly in the United Kingdom) during my sabbatical. Although I have mentioned some of my experiences during this time in previous papers, I would like to explore that further in this study. The discussion will be based primarily on my experience as a foreign student in the United States. I thought that some of the main characteristics and important elements of the American educational system would soon be introduced into the Japanese educational system. However, while some superficial elements have been introduced, the most essential elements have not been introduced at all. I hope that this study will help realize an “ideal educational system in Japan” in the truest sense, especially in the area of English speech education.departmental bulletin pape
