    Get PDF
Ideally, as Muslims, Generation Z should be able to control their consumptive behavior in purchasing virtual game items through an understanding of religious values and Islamic financial literacy. However, in reality, impulsive behavior in game microtransactions is still prevalent among them. This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and Islamic financial literacy on impulsive buying among Muslim Generation Z in Surabaya. This article is categorized as field research with a quantitative approach. The methodology used is an associative quantitative method, which seeks to analyze the relationship between variables. The results of the study conclude that religiosity has a negative effect on impulsive buying, whereas Islamic financial literacy has a positive effect. This indicates that despite having a high understanding of Islamic financial principles, the weak application in daily life leads to continued consumptive behavior

The Ngembakh Tradition of the Alas Tribe in Kute Mejile Village: An Islamic Criminal Law Perspective

    Get PDF
Ideally, the Ngembakh tradition among the Alas ethnic community in Kute Mejile Village serves as a noble social institution intended to bring together young men and women in a controlled environment to foster social bonds and facilitate the search for life partners, thereby preserving the continuity of lineage. However, the reality on the ground reveals a shift in values and a relaxation of oversight, leading to deviations such as khalwat (seclusion between unmarried couples), unsupervised interactions, and even the potential for immoral acts that contradict the principles of Islamic criminal law. This study aims to analyze the Ngembakh tradition from the perspective of Islamic criminal law and examine how it is practiced within the Alas community. The research employs a juridical-sociological method with a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that when left uncontrolled, the implementation of Ngembakh may lead to violations of sharia, particularly acts that fall under the category of ta'zir punishments in Islamic criminal law. Therefore, it is necessary to revitalize Islamic values in the implementation of this tradition through strict supervision and continuous guidance to ensure that the tradition can be preserved without compromising religious norms

This research explores the understanding of the concept of Dewata Séuwa’e in Tafsir al-Munir, which is one of the important aspects of Bugis religious belief. Using the approach of tafsir studies and cultural context, this research aims to explain the meaning and significance of the term, as well as identify how the understanding of the term Dewata Séuwa’e is reflected in Daud Ismail's interpretation of his tafsir. This research uses the theory of vernacularization popularized by Anthony H. Johns by understanding the linguistic elements and cultural praxis contained in Tafsir al-Munir, especially the verses that contain the term Dewata Séuwa’e,as well as a contextual approach to understand how the concept relates to the cultural context of Bugis society. Through an in-depth analysis of Daud Ismail's interpretation, this study seeks to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the term Dewata Séuwa’e is interpreted in Tafsir al-Munir and the religious context of Bugis society before and after the advent of Islam. The results of this study are expected to contribute to further understanding of Bugis religious heritage, especially in the scientific field of Qu r'anic interpretation

    No full text
This study examines the relationship between writing tools and ethical values as articulated in the Qur'an, emphasizing the underlying spiritual and moral dimensions. Writing tools are not merely physical instruments for recording ideas but hold symbolic significance tied to human moral and spiritual responsibility. This research employs a Sufi approach and the theory of mun?sabah (thematic coherence of verses) as interpreted by Fakhruddin Ar-Razi and Quraish Shihab to explore how the Qur'an perceives the act of writing. The findings reveal that the Qur'an elevates the significance of writing tools as symbols of trust, honesty, and piety, playing a crucial role in shaping individual and societal ethics. This study offers new insights into integrating spiritual values into literacy practices, transforming writing into not only an intellectual activity but also a means of ethical reflection and character development

NICOLAI SINAI’S HISTORICAL-CRITICAL APPROACH TO THE QUR’AN: A CRITICAL STUDY OF LITERARY COHERENCE, CHRONOLOGY, AND INTERTEXTUALITY

    Get PDF
This article examines the historical-critical approach developed by Nicolai Sinai in Quranic studies. The main focus includes three methodological dimensions: literary coherence and secondary revision, inner-Qur’anic chronology, and intertextuality. Through a qualitative library research method, this study explores how Sinai's approach offers an empirical and systematic alternative to traditional and earlier Western historical-critical methods that are often accused of undermining Islamic orthodoxy. Sinai’s contribution fills a significant gap in contemporary Qur’anic hermeneutics by bridging classical Islamic interpretive traditions and modern critical methodologies. His framework offers a more nuanced and respectful engagement with the Qur’anic text, avoiding reductionist tendencies while encouraging deeper philological and literary analysis. The study reveals how Sinai’s moderate historical-critical model, grounded in textual data, can enrich both Western and Islamic scholarship in understanding the historical development, structure, and intertextual dialogue of the Qur’an

REVISITING TATHAYYUR: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN TRADITION AND CONTEXT IN TAFSIR AL-MISHBAH THROUGH GADAMER’S HERMENEUTICS

    No full text
This study aims to explore the conceptualization of tathayyur in Muhammad Quraish Shihab's Tafsir Al-Mishbah through Gadamer's hermeneutical approach. Tathayyur refers to the belief in bad omens associated with natural phenomena or bird behavior, a tradition rooted in pre-Islamic Arab society and persisting in various forms in contemporary contexts. Employing Gadamer’s fusion of horizons theory, this research analyzes how Tafsir Al-Mishbah bridges the historical meanings of Quranic verses with modern life contexts. The findings reveal that tathayyur is identified as a minor form of polytheism, contradicting the principles of tawhid. Moreover, Tafsir Al-Mishbah encourages readers to reflect on tawhidi values in daily life as a means to overcome superstitious tendencies that disrupt social and spiritual harmony. This study highlights the relevance of Gadamer's hermeneutical approach in Qur’anic studies by emphasizing the dialogue between text, reader, and context to achieve a more comprehensive and meaningful understanding of traditional beliefs

Marriage Annulment Petitions by KUA Officials: An Analysis from Islamic and Positive Law Perspectives

    Get PDF
The practice of marriage annulment petitions filed by KUA (Religious Affairs Office) officials, who were previously responsible for issuing the marriage certificate, raises complex legal and ethical issues. These include questions regarding administrative validity and the professional accountability of the marriage registrar (PPN). This study analyzes the submission of marriage annulment petitions by KUA officials from the perspectives of Islamic law and positive law in Indonesia, concerning Law Number 1 of 1974 on Marriage and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). Employing a qualitative normative approach, data were collected through a literature review of statutory regulations, classical and contemporary fiqh sources, court decisions, and expert opinions. The findings reveal discrepancies between administrative practices at KUA and the legal standards, particularly in the verification of documents and the legal status of prospective spouses. Common causes of annulments include identity fraud, unlawful polygamy, and administrative errors. From the standpoint of maqashid shari'ah, such annulment actions may be justified to uphold the rights of spouses and their offspring, and to prevent harm resulting from invalid marriages. This research proposes an integrative approach combining Islamic legal principles and national law, and emphasizes the need to strengthen institutional procedures and legal literacy within KUA to ensure the integrity of the marriage system in Indonesia

Responsibilities and Authorities of External Directors in Family-Owned Companies: A Legal and Islamic Perspective

    Get PDF
Family businesses account for 72% of enterprises in Indonesia, many of which operate as Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) to gain legal and financial flexibility. However, a significant governance problem arises when appointing external (non-family) directors; the boundaries of their authority and fiduciary responsibilities are often unclear. This ambiguity leads to legal disputes and diminished strategic roles, especially under the dominance of controlling family members. This study examines the boundaries of external directors' responsibilities in family-owned LLCs through the lens of Islamic law and normative jurisprudence. This qualitative research employs normative legal analysis and Islamic law, using academic literature, legal documents, and classical Islamic texts to explore authority within Limited Liability Companies and analyze using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings indicate that although Law No. 40 of 2007 regulates fiduciary duties and the ultra vires principle, external directors remain vulnerable to the dominance of family owners. From an Islamic perspective, external directors are regarded as trustees who must uphold honesty (ṣidq), trustworthiness (amanah), and justice (‘adl). The study proposes four key solutions: clear articles of association, protective contracts, independent supervisory boards, and Sharia Advisory Boards. These offer a governance model rooted in legal certainty and Islamic ethics, contributing practical insights for regulators, business owners, and directors in Muslim family enterprises

The Authority of Adat Institutions in Resolving Marital Disputes in Aceh: A Legal Review

    Get PDF
Aceh’s legal framework is distinctive due to the coexistence of state law, Islamic law, and adat (customary) law, particularly in handling marital disputes. Adat institutions hold a significant role within local communities, as they provide culturally grounded mechanisms for resolving conflicts, often emphasizing restorative justice and social harmony. However, the precise legal authority of these institutions remains complex, especially when their jurisdiction overlaps or conflicts with formal judicial bodies such as the Mahkamah Syar’iyah. This study aims to critically review the legal basis and scope of authority of adat institutions in resolving marital disputes in Aceh within the context of Indonesian law. Utilizing a normative legal research method combined with conceptual and statutory analyses, this research examines relevant legislation, including Law No. 11 of 2006 on the Governance of Aceh and Law No. 23 of 2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence. Additionally, it draws on doctrinal sources and practical adat dispute resolution cases in Aceh. The findings demonstrate that adat institutions remain trusted mediators that prioritize reconciliation and community consensus in marital conflicts. Nonetheless, their authority is not absolute and is limited by national legal frameworks, especially concerning divorce proceedings, child custody, and cases of domestic violence, which fall under the jurisdiction of Islamic courts. This overlapping jurisdiction can lead to legal ambiguities and inconsistent outcomes. The study contributes valuable insights for policymakers and legal practitioners seeking to enhance coordination and integration between adat dispute resolution mechanisms and formal legal systems. Strengthening regulatory clarity and fostering collaboration can support more effective dispute resolution that respects Acehnese cultural traditions while aligning with national legal standards
