DUCK MEAT OFF-ODOR AS AFFECTED BY DIFFERENT STRAINS AND DIETARY LIPIDS: BAU DAGING ITIK YANG DIPENGARUHI OLEH PERBEDAAN GALUR TERNAK DAN JENIS PAKAN
Penelitian ini bertujuan menilai pengaruh perbedaan jenis galur ternak dan lemak pakan terhadap bau off-odor (menyimpang) pada daging ternak itik. Percobaan dilakukan dengan menggunakan rancangan dua faktor pada rancangan acak lengkap. Sebagi faktor pertama adalah jenis galur ternak, yakni galur alabio dan cihateup; sedangkan faktor kedua adalah jenis sumber lemak pakan, yakni lemak sapi, minyak kedelei dan minyak kelapa. Analisis sensori yang dilakukan melibatkan 10-14 orang panelis terlatih untuk menilai kualitas sensori daging dengan menggunakan metode uji ranking, skala dan uji deskriptif. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa perbedaan galur ternak dan jenis lemak berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap komposisi asam-asam lemak dan intensitas bau off-odor pada daging itik. Itik cihateup memiliki intensitas bau off-odor yang lebih tinggi daripada itik alabio. Analisis deskriptif memperlihatkan bahwa jenis bau off-odor pada daging itik adalah bau tengik, amis, bau lemak, bau jamur, langu, dan bau tanah
EFEKTIVITAS BERBAGAI WAKTU INJEKSI PGF2α SEBELUM PENAMPUNGAN SPERMA DOMBA LOKAL TERHADAP KUALITAS SPERMA DALAM PENGENCER TRIS YANG DISIMPAN PADA SUHU 5°C: EFFECTIVITY OF VARIOUS TIME INJECTION OF PGF2α BEFORE COLLECTED SPERM OF LOCAL SHEEPS ON SPERM QUALITY USING TRIS DILUTION SAVED IN TEMPERATURE OF 5°C
This experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of PGF2α and time of injection on the quality and viability of Local ram sperm in Tris dilution at 50C storage temperature. The sperm was collected from four Local rams with artificial vagina, once a week for one month. At the first week, sperm were collected without PGF2α injection; 10 minute after PGF2α injection in second week; 20 minute after PGF2α injection in third week; and 30 minute after PGF2α injection in fourth week. PGF2α with dose of 1,0 ml/head (7,5 mg Luprostiol/ml) were given by intramuscular injection in thigh area. The data were analyzed by Completed Randomized Design. When there were significant differences continued with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. The result showed that PGF2α injection significantly (p<0.05) increased the motility sperm and life sperm percentage especially on collected sperm 10 minute after PGF2α injection. Ejaculate volume, pH, sperm concentration, abnormal sperm percentation and sperm viability, showed no significant difference (p>0.05). Based on the result of this study, it was concluded that PGF2α injection 10 minute before sperm collection could improve sperm quantity and quality specifically sperm motility and sperm life percentation
KERAGAMAN BOTANIS DAN KAPASlTAS TAMPUNG PADANG PENGGEMBALAAN ALAMI KABUPATEN YAPEN: BOTANICAL VARIERTY AND CARRYING CAPACITY OF NATURAL PASTURE AT YAPEN REGENCY
This study was conducted in several natural pasturing at Yapen regency during approximately 1 month. This study to aim detects botanic variety and carrying capacity of natural pasturing Yapen regency, Papua. Survey used in this study. This study is done to identifies and weight plant found at natural pasturing. At natural pasturing founds 22 species that consist of 7 palatable species (grass = Axonophus compressus, Cyperus kylingia (Kylingia monochepala), Andropogon sp, Eleusine indica, Digitaria pruriens, Cyperus rotundus and legume = Drymaria cordata) and 15 non palatable species (Cycloporus aridus, Menchrocephala bicolor, Psidium guajava, Mimosa pudica, Solanum verbascifolium, Commelinna memfusa, Eupatorium odoratum, Borreria laevis, Hyptis rhomboidea, Achyranthes aspera, Sida rhombifolia, Mengodia sarmentosa, Ageratum conyzoides, Murdania nudiflora, Biden pilosa) . Dominant species based on fresh weight are: non palatable species = 53,666 percent and palatable species = 46,333 percent. Palatable species consist of 43,757 percent grass and 2,575 percent legume. Carrying capacity of natural pasturing only 0,56 animal units a hectare or equal with 0,84 head Bali cattle (body weight about 300 kg) a hectare. 
EFEK PEMUASAAN PADA MASA DARA TERHADAP POLA PRODUKSI TELUR DAN DISTRIBUSI WAKTU OVIPOSISI PADA BURUNG PUYUH: THE EFFECT OF FASTING AT GROWER PERIOD ON PATTERN OF EGG PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF OVIPOSITION TIME IN JAPANESE QUAIL
The research is aimed to investigate the effect of fasting at grower period (3 to 6 week of age) on pattern of egg production and distribution of oviposition time in Japanese quail. Three hundreds and forty female of Japanese quails at 3 week of age were used in this research. The treatments were (1) without fasting or control, (2) skip-a-day fasting, (3) nighttime fasting: 18.00 p.m to 06.00 a.m.; and (4) daytime fasting: 06.00 a.m to 18.00 p.m. Data collected were age of the onset of laying (sexual maturity) until 12 weeks of age. The results showed that (1) the peak of egg production of control group was faster (10 weeks of age) and higher (89,3%) than the quails of groups fasting at grower period, but the peak of egg production was maintained longger than control group; (2) there was a fact that the egg production compensation was happened in fasting groups at grower period; (2) in quails group of daytime fasting at was grower period the distribution of oviposition time was relative smoother between periode observed: 12.00 – 18.00 p.m., 18.00 – 24.00 p.m. and 00.00 – 06.00 a.m., than other treatments
PUBERTY IN BEEF HEIFERS: A REVIEW: PUBERTAS PADA SAPI POTONG DARA:SUATU REVIEW
Performans reproduksi optimum dari ternak betina adalah faktor yang sangat penting dalam suatu usaha peternakan sapi potong, sebab sebuah perusahaan peternakan sapi potong hanya dapat berlangsung dengan baik jika ada cukup pedet yang dilahirkan, bertumbuh dengan baik sampai dipasarkan. Pubertas adalah salah satu kriteria reproduksi yang harus dipenuhi oleh ternak sebelum ternak itu dapat bereproduksi. Berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan dan telah diketahui bahwa umur dan bobot saat pubertas pada sapi betina sangat ditentukan oleh bangsa sapi, bobot badan, nutrisi dan musim. Oleh sebab itu, faktor-faktor tersebut perlu diketahui dan dipahami sehingga ternak sapi yang dipelihara dapat diatur untuk bereproduksi seperti yang diharapkan oleh peternak
PENAMPILAN PERTUMBUHAN AYAM PERSILANGAN KAMPUNG DAN BANGKOK: GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF KAMPUNG AND BANGKOK FOWL CROSSING
This study was carried out for four months by using 48 chicks which consist of the progeny of interse Bangkok Chicken, interse Kampung Chicken, Crossing of Bangkok-Kampung and Crossing of Kampung Bangkok. Variables of the study were average body weight, feed Consumption and feed Efisiency. A Complete randomized design was used in this study. The result showed the highest average body weight and feed consumption in progeny interse Bangkok Chicken, however the best feed efisiency found in crossing of Kampung-Bangkok
PENGARUH PEMBERIAN WAFER RUMPUT GAJAH DENGAN PEREKAT FERMENTED MOTER LIQUOR (FML) DAN TETES (MOLASSES) TERHADAP KONSUMSI PAKAN, KECERNAAN ZAT-ZAT MAKANAN DAN KENAIKKAN BERAT BADAN SAPI BALI JANTAN: EFFECTS OF ADDITION OF FERMENTED MOTHER LIQUOR (FML) AND MOLLASES BINDERSIN ELEPHANT GRASS WAFER TOWA RDS FEED CON. UMPTION, NUTRIENT DIGESTIBILITY AND AVERAGE DAILY GAIN IN BULL
The study conducted aimed to deeply know the effect of addition fermented mother liquor (FML) and mollases binder on elephant grass wafer towards feed consumption, nutrient digestibility and average daily gain (ADG) applied to the bull performances. Completed randomized design was experimentally applied as body weight was the covariance. Data analysis using Ancova was done to parameterise feed consumption, nutrient digestibility and average daily gain. The results shown that feed consumption and feed digestibility (DM, OM, BETN and CP) had shown strong significant declining effect (P<0.01) and feed digestibility had significantly increase (P<0.05) particularly in the components of CP and fat on voluntary feed intake (VFI) periods, and to increase the feed consumption dan feed digestibility had shown high significant (P<0.01) on feeding trials periods. There had no significant effect (P>0.05) on average daily gain and feed consumption as a result of treatments. In general, addition of FML and mollases ruled as solid (binder materials) in elephant grass-feeding based as wafer had shown no negative effect on feed consumption, nutrient digestibility and average daily gain. Wafer with mollases solid (binder) was better than other treatment
VIABILITAS RUMPUT SORGHUM (Sorghum sp.) PADA MEDIA PERSEMAIAN YANG BERBEDA: VIABILITY OF Sorghum sp. IN THREE DIFFERENT MEDIA OF GERMINATION
Viability test are using to find out quality of seed. Viability of Sorghum sp. was tested by using three different media of germination through experimental field. Three different media of germination are sand (100%), composite of sand and soil 50%:50% and 75%:25%. Research variables of this study were germination percentage, daily rate of germination, average daily germination, culmination of germination and germination value. The results showed that there was no significant different between three different media of germination on germination percentage, daily rate germination, average daily germination and germination value. The significant different between three media of germination was only found on culmination germination. Moreover, composite sand and soil (50%:50%) media revealed good performance for Soghum sp germination. It mean this media suitable for germination
Beef Cattle Pregnancy Rate In Manokwari: Husbandry System Effect: TINGKAT KEBUNTINGAN SAPI POTONG DI MANOKWARI : PENGARUH SISTEM PEMELIHARAAN
Tingkat kebuntingan ternak sapi potong di suatu wilayah adalah indikator penting bagi pengelolaan ternak tersebut secara berkelanjutan. Ternak sapi dengan tingkat kebuntingan yang tinggi akan memberikan jaminan bagi tingkat kelahiran yang juga baik, jika ditunjang dengan sistem pemeliharaan yang memadai. Dengan demikian dapat dipastikan bahwa populasi ternak tersevut juga akan terjaga dengan baik. Informasi mengenai tingkat reproduksi ternak sapi potong di Kabupaten Manokwari belum cukup tersedia dan jika sudah adapun masih merupakan penggalan data yang belum terhimpun sebagai data lengkap kabupaten. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyajikan informasi mengenai tingkat reproduksi ternak sapi potong secara khusus tingkat kebuntingan pada empat distrik dengan manajemen pemberian pakan yang berbeda sebagai baseline data dalam pengelolaan pembibitan ternak sapi di Kabupaten Manokwari. Enam ratus dua ekor sapi betina dari empat distrik (Prafi, Oransbari, Ransiki dan Manokwari) di Kabupaten Manokwari dijadikan contoh dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat kebuntingan pada ternak sapi pada sistem pemeliharaan yang berbeda. Sapi betina yang dipelihara dengan sistem dilepas pada suatu areal terbatas (ranch/pastura) dan sistem digembalakan dengan menggunakan tali leher memiliki tingkat kebuntingan yang lebih baik (rata-rata 58%) dibanding ternak sapi yang dipelihara dengan sistem diikat dan diberi hijauan potongan (rata-rata 31%). Kctersediaan pejantan, rasio jantan betina, kesehatan ternak, ketersediaan pakan, pengelolaan padang rumput dan ternak adalah faktor utama yang mempengaruhi tingkat kebuntingan ternak sapi di Kabupaten Manokwari
PRODUKSI RUMPUT SUDAN DAN PERHITUNGAN EKONOMI PENGGUNAAN PUPUK NITROGEN, FOSFOR, DAN KALIUM: SUDAN GRASS PRODUCTION AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF NITROGEN, PHOSPHOR. POTASIUM FERTILIZERS UTILIZATION
The aim of this study were to obtain the optimum level of NPK fertilizers of sudan grass and economic of NPK fertilizers utilization. The randomized completely block design (RCBD) were used to evaluate, namely 4 levels of fertilizer doses NPK and 4 blocks for determine the grass production. The treatments for randomly N application, namely: No (PO); N150 (P1); N300 (P2); and N450(P3). Phosphorus and K fertilizer were given at the same rate, that were 300 kg P2O5 and 150 kg K2O ha-1. The results of study showed that DM production for PO (3.19 tonha-1) differed significantly with P1, P2 and P3; but between P2 and P3 did not differ significantly. There were increased DM production due to increasing of fertilizers applied. The values of DM production increasing percentage for P1, P2, and P3 compared with PO, for DM were 69.44%, 80.45% and 85.28%, respectively. The increased percentages of DM production of P3 tended to decrease. Therefore, it can be summarized that P2 (300 kg N, 300 kg P and 150 kg K ha-1) was optimum level for DM production. Based on partial budget analysis, indicated that cultivation of sudan grass with NPK fertilizer treatments yielded profit positively. The profit value for P1, P2, and treatment of P3 were Rp 581.500,-; Rp 2.009.500,-; and Rp 2.997.500,-per hectare, respectively
