    This study explores how Javanese domestic workers interact with Chinese-Indonesian employers in Semarang after 1980, amid ongoing social tensions and ethnic differences in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis from several Chinese-Indonesian households employing Javanese domestic workers. The findings reveal that, despite the presence of inequality in the employment relationship, daily interactions often reflect forms of social harmony. This harmony emerges through mutual understanding, cultural tolerance, and various negotiation strategies employed by both parties. Harmony, in this context, does not imply the absence of conflict but rather the ability to manage differences in order to maintain a stable working relationship. This research offers new insights into the intersection of ethnic and class relations in everyday life and contributes to a deeper understanding of interethnic relations and social dynamics in Indonesia

    This study examines the translation strategies applied to informal English expressions, slang, abbreviations, and memes found on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), focusing on how these context-dependent expressions are translated into Indonesian. The rise of informal language on digital platforms presents challenges for translators due to its dynamic, highly creative, and non-standardized nature. This study aims to identify and categorize the types of informal English expressions and analyze the translation strategies used using Peter Newmark’s frameworks while preserving the meanings and relevances. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the data consists of 21 posts from 3 accounts on X, selected purposively to represent various informal expressions. Each post was translated using DeepL and retranslated manually by the researcher, then analyzed to determine the dominant translation method and translation procedures applied. The findings show that Idiomatic Translation was the most dominant method, while the most frequently used procedures were Modulation, Descriptive Equivalent, and Transference. This study proposes new insights into translating informal digital discourse, especially for slang, abbreviations, and memes on social media, emphasizing that context-sensitive and real-time evolving language used in everyday online interaction is essential for professional translation practice

    The tuberculosis control program at Beringin Sakti Health Center represents a national public health strategy aimed at reducing the incidence and impact of one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases. However, the effectiveness of this program is significantly hindered by deep-rooted cultural beliefs in communities such as Nagari Taratak Tinggi, West Sumatra. This qualitative descriptive study explores how cultural values, traditional healing practices, and local authority figures affect the implementation of the program. Using in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving 12 informants—including health workers, TB patients, traditional healers, and community leaders—the study finds that tuberculosis is often perceived as a mystical illness caused by supernatural forces, leading people to seek help from shamans rather than medical professionals.The study employs Grindle’s implementation model to analyze the mismatch between policy content and local context. Top-down approaches, lack of cultural sensitivity, and exclusion of local leaders from the planning process contribute to low public engagement and trust. The findings suggest that TB programs must adopt a participatory, culture-based approach by involving traditional and religious figures, using locally meaningful narratives, and promoting respectful, persuasive health communication to bridge the gap between biomedical interventions and local belief systems

    This study analyzes the leadership of Regent Mawardi Yahya in the infrastructure development of Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, from 2005 to 2015. Ogan Ilir Regency, a division of Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in 2004, underwent significant transformation under the leadership of Mawardi Yahya, who was also a central figure in the division and held a strategic position within the Golkar Party. The research method used was historical, with heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography to produce an accurate reconstruction of events. The results show that in the 2005–2010 period, the leadership focused on building the foundations of government through the establishment of bureaucratic structures, the issuance of regional regulations, and the strengthening of institutional and fiscal systems. In the 2011–2015 period, the focus shifted to physical development, including the Tanjung Senai Regional General Hospital, the Tanjung Senai Integrated Office Complex, the An-Nur Grand Mosque, the Sungai Rambutan Independent Integrated City, and the inter-regional road and bridge network. This development improves mobility, access to publicservices, regional connectivity, and economic growth, demonstrating Mawardi Yahya's visionary andeffective leadership, earning him the nickname "Father of Development" of Ogan Ilir Regency

    This study explores the perceptions and practices of personal testimony among adolescents and young adults in GMIM Getsemani Perum Risky with regard to their congregational life practices. Using a qualitative participatory ethnographic design, data were gathered from 20 members through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of congregational documents. The evidence indicates that personal testimony is an essential, not marginal, practice since whoever is to express, interpret, and communicate faith. Testimonies come mostly from a feeling of gratitude at how God has helped them and an inner sense of calling and encouragement from leaders and peers, but they are also accompanied by anxiety, feelings of unworthiness, and fear of being judged. As a matter of fact, empirically, testimony is a kind of lived narrative theology: through telling detailed accounts of the struggle, divine assistance and change, participants re-read their histories of life through the lens of the gospel and combine the teaching of theology with the experience. The act of testifying brings about emotional and spiritual change, while listening to the testimonies of others brings about mutual edification, consolation, and hope. The study further shows that the practice of testifying in this congregation is influenced by the dialogue between GMIM's Reformed heritage and Minahasan cultural values such as mapalus, honesty, and solidarity, which together foster authenticity, openness, and communal responsibility

    Developing pragmatic competence is essential for EFL learners, especially in contexts where real communication opportunities are limited. This study investigates how Project-Based Learning (PBL) supports the development of pragmatic competence among Indonesian EFL students during real-life speaking interactions with foreign tourists at Double Six Beach, Bali. The project activity focused on the theme “Getting to Know Each Other.” Using a qualitative descriptive design, the study analyzed speech acts produced by two learner groups: kids (9–12 years old) and teenagers (14–16 years old). Data were collected from video recordings of student–tourist interactions and examined using Searle’s (1976) speech act taxonomy and Hymes’ (1972) notion of pragmatic competence. Findings show that both groups were able to perform a range of speech acts, including greetings, asking for information, sharing personal details, expressing gratitude, and managing conversational turns. Overall, the study shows that Project-Based Learning provides a useful way to develop pragmatic competence by involving students in meaningful and authentic communication outside the classroom

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa proses kerja melalui prinsip lean manufaktur untuk menanggulangi cycletime pada proses pemasangan pantograph dan mengembalikan waktu pemasangan pantograph ke standar pabrik yaitu 8 detik. Problem ini menimbulkan potensi masalah produktivitas kerja dimana rata-rata operator melakukan pemasangan pantograph lebih dari waktu yang ditentukan yaitu 9-13 detik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode kuantitatif yaitu investigasi sistematis dan mendapatkan informasi yang tepat dan nyata melalui cara observasi, interview, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari metode ini adalah sebuah model yang terinspirasi dari mesin gerinda tangan sebagai bentuk perubahan arah gerak input ke output (vertikal ke horizontal) yang terbukti sesuai dalam masalah pemasangan pantograph saat ini. Dari hasil penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah alat support tools yang terbukti mampu menurunkan dan menghilangkan masalah utama dari pekerjaan pantograph yaitu pengurangan waktu pemasanagan yang sebelumnya 13 detik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan Support Tools efektif mengurangi waktu pemasangan dan menghilangkan risiko keselamatan pada pekerja

    Sistem pendidikan di Indonesia tidak lepas dari pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani dan olahraga. Selain itu, sebagai suatu integral yang mencakup aspek kognitif, psikomotorik, serta afektif dalam pendidikan secara keseluruhan. Hal tersebut, digunakan untuk membentuk karakter yang tangguh, profesional, terlatih serta meningkatkan kemampuan intelektual dan pembentuk moral guna menghadapi perkembangan zaman yang semakin maju. Dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani dan olahraga terdapat suatu kecenderungan yaitu durasi waktu belajar dalam satu kegiatan belajar mengajar atau disebut waktu belajar pendidikan jasmani. Maka daripada itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan mengkaji waktu belajar pendidikan jasmani kelas VIII SMP Negeri di Kota Malang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen pengamatan waktu mengajar dan juga data kualitatif wawancara sebagai data pendukung. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik lebih aktif dalam waktu belajar dengan materi permaian yakni sebesar 75,06% dibandingkan dengan materi non permainan sebesar 63,79%. Sedangkan rata-rata keaktifan peserta didik pada pembelajaran PJOK materi permaian sebesar 62,52% dan rata-rata keaktifan peserta didik dengan materi non permainan sebesar 53,51%. Dari hasil yang didapatkan akan diolah untuk mengetahui durasi waktu yang digunakan serta lebih jauh lagi akan dikembalikan kepada guru yang bersangkutan untuk menjadi bahan evaluasi mandiri dalam kegiatan belajar mengajarnya

    Tujuan dari senam kreasi ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kebugaran fisik siswa. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara, dan dokumen tertulis, sehingga menghasilkan pemahaman yang komprehensif tentang dampak senam kreasi terhadap kebugaran fisik siswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa senam kreasi secara signifikan meningkatkan kesejahteraan fisik siswa di SD Inpres Tobu. Hal ini terbukti dari meningkatnya antusiasme dan gairah siswa. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk menerapkan langkah-langkah tindak lanjut untuk membiasakan kegiatan rekreasi kreatif ini, yang memengaruhi kebugaran fisik siswa di SD Inpres Tobu

    Hubungan Antara Kecemasan dan Core Stability terhadap Keterampilan Sikap Lilin

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kecemasan dan core stabilityi terhadap keterampilan sikap lilin pada siswa SMP. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional dan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner kecemasan, tes core stability menggunakan sensor inclinometer, dan penilaian praktik sikap lilin. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa model memiliki nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 95,4 persen, dengan kecemasan berpengaruh signifikan (β = -0,127; p < 0,001) dan Plank-X juga signifikan (β = -6,502; p = 0,048), sedangkan Plank-Y dan jenis kelamin tidak signifikan (p > 0,05). Jalur mediasi memperlihatkan bahwa kecemasan menjadi mediator kuat antara Plank-X dan sikap lilin dengan estimasi efek tidak langsung sebesar -13,596. Sementara itu, BMI tidak berperan sebagai mediator signifikan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kestabilan inti mendukung keterampilan sikap lilin baik secara langsung maupun melalui penurunan tingkat kecemasan. Dengan demikian, penguatan otot inti sebaiknya diiringi dengan strategi pengelolaan kecemasan agar proses pembelajaran senam lantai lebih optimal. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi guru Pendidikan Jasmani dalam merancang metode latihan yang terpadu, mencakup penguatan fisik dan kesiapan mental siswa
