SCHOOL CULTURE AND THE NORMALIZATION OF TOXIC PRODUCTIVITY: A REVIEW OF THE SOCIOLOGICAL LITERATURE ON PERFORMANCE PRESSURE AMONG STUDENTS: BUDAYA SEKOLAH DAN NORMALISASI TOXIC PRODUCTIVITY: KAJIAN LITERATUR SOSIOLOGIS ATAS TEKANAN KINERJA DI KALANGAN PELAJAR

    No full text
The phenomenon of increasing academic pressure in schools has normalized toxic productivity as the ideal identity of students. A culture of meritocracy and excessive competition forces students to constantly pursue productivity without considering mental well-being. This study aims to analyze sociologically how school culture shapes and legitimizes performative pressures that negatively impact students' emotional health. The method used is a systematic literature review with a qualitative approach based on the perspective of educational sociology and critical sociology. Data sources were obtained from relevant journal articles, academic books, research reports, and conference proceedings, especially publications of th years, through searches on Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, and DOAJ. The analysis process is carried out thematically and narratively to identify conceptual patterns, using the theoretical framework of Pierre Bourdieu and Michel Foucault. The results show that the ranking system, high expectations, and emphasis on academic achievement create a competitive atmosphere that triggers chronic stress, anxiety, and identity crises among students. The role of teachers and schools as agents of normalization reinforces this cycle, often unconsciously. In conclusion, a more balanced transformation of the educational paradigm is needed by emphasizing mindful learning, psychosocial support, and policies that prioritize students' mental health holistically. e last te

SENEMBAH IN THE VORTEX OF HISTORY: CONTINUITY AND CHANGES IN LOCAL POWER IN EAST SUMATRA (1862-1946)

    No full text
This study explores the historical dynamics of Kejeruan Senembah as a local power entity in East Sumatra during the period 1862–1946. The main focus is to trace the continuity and transformation of political authority in the context of colonial governance and social change in the region. Kejeruan Senembah originated as a traditional institution established with the endorsement of the Aceh Sultanate and later evolved into a crucial component within the political structure of the Deli Sultanate. This research employs the historical method, encompassing four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The primary sources include colonial archives, local literature, interviews with key informants, and visual documents such as maps and photographs from KITLV and Delpher collections. The findings reveal that Kejeruan Senembah played a strategic role in maintaining local stability through a customary Karo-based social structure and served as an intermediary between colonial authorities, the sultanate, and indigenous communities. However, Dutch intervention and the shifting political landscape leading up to and following Indonesian independence triggered changes in the power structure, culminating in territorial fragmentation and the transformation of political legitimacy after 1946. This study concludes that the case of Kejeruan Senembah is vital in reconstructing regional historical narratives that have often been marginalized in national historiography

LANGUAGE, IDENTITY, AND SOCIAL FRAGMENTATION IN THE POST-TRUTH ERA: A LITERATURE REVIEW OF DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION: BAHASA, IDENTITAS, DAN FRAGMENTASI SOSIAL DI ERA POST-TRUTH: KAJIAN LITERATUR TERHADAP PENDIDIKAN KEWARGANEGARAAN DIGITAL

    No full text
This research departs from the post-truth phenomenon which is characterized by the dominance of subjective opinions and emotions in shaping public perception, which has a serious impact on social cohesion in the digital space. Language plays an important role in this process, not only as a means of communication, but also as a discourse that reproduces power and social identity. This research aims to analyze how digital language shapes and fragments social identities, as well as to evaluate the role of digital citizenship education in facing the challenges of disinformation and social polarization. The approach of this research is qualitative with a systematic literature review method based on a critical sociological perspective. Data is obtained from journal articles, academic books, educational policies, and other literature sources collected through a targeted search in scientific databases. The analysis is carried out thematically and interpretively with an emphasis on concepts from Foucault, Hall, Bauman, Giroux, and Habermas. The results of the study show that the digital space creates a new form of social fragmentation, but also opens up opportunities for intervention through critical education. Therefore, digital citizenship education needs to be systematically integrated to form inclusive, critical, and ethical citizens in communicating in the digital era

    No full text
This article aims to analyze the relevance and potential application of Hilda Taba's curriculum development model in the reform of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in madrasas, particularly through an integrated curriculum approach that emphasizes the linkage between Islamic values and 21st century learning needs. This research uses a qualitative method based on library research, by examining Hilda Taba's main works, national curriculum policy documents, and relevant academic literature in the field of Islamic education and curriculum development theory. The main focus of the study lies in a systematic examination of the core ideas of Taba, including the stages of need diagnosis, goal formulation, selection and organization of content, learning experience, and evaluation, and how these principles can be adapted in the context of madrasas. The results of the analysis show that the Taba model offers a participatory, reflective, and student-based curriculum approach. This approach is very suitable for the context of Islamic education in madrassas which have tended to follow a standard curriculum without adequate innovation space. By utilizing the Taba model, the PAI curriculum can be developed in a more contextual, integrative, and transformative manner that combines Islamic values with an active, collaborative, and character-oriented learning approach. In addition, this article also emphasizes the importance of the role of teachers as the main actors in curriculum development, as well as the need to change the evaluation paradigm in religious education from just cognitive measurement to assessment that includes affection and morality. These findings make a theoretical and practical contribution to the development of a responsive, relevant, and progressive Islamic curriculum, while strengthening the position of madrasas as educational institutions that are adaptive to changing times

    No full text
Social movements in Watesjaya Village, Cigombong District, Bogor Regency, emerged in response to the massive land acquisition by PT MNC Land for the development of the Lido Special Economic Zone (KEK Lido). This practice encourages massive land conversion that has a direct impact on the survival of local communities, especially forest and non-forest area farmers who have worked on the land for generations. This research uses a qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews with key actors, direct observation in the field, and archival searches. The two main actors, forest area and non-forest area farmers, showed different resistance movements. Farmers in forest areas use an adaptive approach through forest utilization and ecotourism management under the Social Forestry scheme with a Conservation Partnership Agreement (PKK), while the resistance movement of non-forest area farmers uses protests, demonstrations, and rejection of unfair compensation. These different approaches reflect variations in resource mobilization, local knowledge, and level of organization with impacts varying from delaying eviction to creating alternative livelihoods

This article examines the process of the entry of Islam into Mahala Village, Tina District, Pakpak Bharat Regency, an area where the majority of the population still adheres to the school of faith and is located in the interior of North Sumatra. This historical search was carried out to fill the void of local historical literature regarding the spread of Islam in the Pakpak area which has received less attention in academic studies. The main focus of this research is to identify the path of entry of Islam, what are the evidence of Islamic historical heritage and analyze the influence of Islam on the people of Mahala village, especially in social and cultural aspects. This research uses a qualitative method with a historical approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with community leaders, religious leaders, as well as direct observation of historical sites such as old tombs in Lae Meang Hamlet. In addition, secondary sources of documentation are used in the form of articles, archives, and oral historical records. The results of the study show that Islam began to be known in Mahala Village around the 1920s, as evidenced by the existence of the tombs of Islamic propagators with the year of death written between 1923-1927. The process of spreading Islam took place peacefully through trade routes and social interactions, especially by immigrants from Aceh and Barus. Important figures in this process include Teuku Panjang Rambut and Abdurrahim Berutu. Although the Muslim community in Mahala remains a minority, their existence is harmoniously accepted by the local community. The conclusion of this article shows that the process of Islamization in Mahala Village took place culturally and peacefully, not through confrontation. This shows the importance of a social and locality approach in understanding the dynamics of the spread of religion in multicultural areas such as Pakpak Bharat
