    Enhancing Student Learning Outcomes Using Game-Based Learning

    The study investigated the impact of game-based learning using Wordwall media in enhancing learning outcomes and student engagement among eighth-grade students in an English grammar lesson. This research was initiated to address low grammar mastery and engagement at the research location, where preliminary data showed an average pretest score of 67.4 with most students failing to meet the minimum passing criteria. This study used a quantitative pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest one-group design, involving 20 students. Data were collected through pretest-posttest assessments and observations measuring behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. Paired t-test results showed significant improvement in learning outcomes, with a mean score increase of 14.20 (SD = 5.58). The calculated t-value was 11.384, exceeding the critical t-table value of 2.093 at df = 19, and the two-sided significance value was 0.000, confirming statistical significance. Observations revealed increased engagement across all three dimensions. These findings demonstrate the efficacy of game-based learning in enhancing academic performance and student engagement, offering an effective solution to the learning challenges identified. Further research is recommended to explore long-term effects and applicability across different subjects and age groups

    Studi Kinerja Transmisi Data Menggunakan ESP32 dan Raspberry Pi Pico Berbasis Simulasi Wokwi

    The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has increased rapidly, and microcontrollers play a central role in the control and data communication in the IoT ecosystem. This research compares the data transmission performance between two popular microcontrollers, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi Pico, using the Wokwi simulation platform. The ESP32 is known for its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, while the Raspberry Pi Pico with its RP2040 processor offers solid performance at an affordable price. In this context, MQTT is used as the communication protocol for data delivery with low latency and minimal bandwidth. This research includes three stages: system design, schematic design, and system testing. The scheme used includes DHT22 and LDR sensors, and the process of monitoring data to the Thingspeak server. The simulation results show that both microcontrollers can manage the data transmission well, but the Raspberry Pi Pico shows a faster transmission delay time than the ESP32. The average delay time for light intensity, temperature, and humidity parameters on the Raspberry Pi Pico was 2 minutes 36 seconds, 3 minutes 7 seconds, and 3 minutes 49 seconds, respectively, while the ESP32 had a longer delay time. This study provides insight into the performance of both microcontrollers in the context of the IoT and can help developers choose a suitable microcontroller for their application

    Diagnosa Kesehatan Motor Induksi menggunakan CNNs 1D pada Sinyal Multimodal

    Penelitian ini mengambangkan model Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) 1D untuk mendiagnosa kondisi Kesehatan motor induksi menggunakan data multimodal dari sensor akselerometer, mikrofon dan temperature. Model ini dirancang untuk mempelajari pola kompleks dalam data domain waktu dan mengklasifikasikan kondisi motor induksi ke dalam 2 kategori : “Sehat” atau “Rusak”. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan menvariasikan kondisi data (Unloaded dan Loaded), rasio pembagian data training dan testing (50:50, 70:30, 80:20, 90:10), serta jumlah parameter epoch (50,100, 500, 1000). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa model mencapai akurasi yang bervariasi tergantung pada kondisi parameter tersebut. Pada kondisi Unloaded, akurasi tertinggi 89.10% dicapai pada rasio data 90:10 dan 50 epoch, sedangkan pada kondisi Loaded, akurasi tertinggi 87.20% dicapai pada rasio 50:50 dan 100 epoch. Secara umum, akurasi lebih tinggi pada kondisi Unloaded, yang mengindikasikan perbedaan karakteristik data. Penelitian ini menunjukkan potensi CNNs 1D dalam diagnosis motor induksi. Namun penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kinerja dan generalisasi model

    Abstrak Fertilitas merupakan hal yang sangat penting pada wanita untuk menghasilkan keturunan. Salah satu dari banyaknya faktor kesuburan wanita adalah nutrisi yang dikonsumsinya. Buah tomat (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) mengandung senyawa likopen yang memiliki banyak manfaat diantaranya sebagai zat antioksidan, menjaga kestabilan sel serta menurunkan resiko infertilitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) terhadap fertilitas mencit betina (Mus musculus L.). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari tiga perlakuan dengan lima ulangan. Perlakuan kontrol (P0) yang tidak diberi esktrak tomat, perlakuan 1 (P1) dan perlakuan 2 (P2) dengan dosis ekstrak tomat 0,4 ml/hari dan 0,8 ml/hari. Pemberian ekstrak tomat, dilakukan setiap hari selama 15 hari secara oral menggunakan spuid modifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) pada fertilitas mencit betina. Pada pemberian dosis 0,4 ml/hari menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan kesuburan mencit pada fase estrus dibandingkan dengan kelompok perlakuan lainnya.     This research aims to prove the ability of phenotypic plasticity of Neritidae members in Lampon Banyuwangi, which is thought to be able to be used to determine the effects of mercury pollution that has been going on for more than a decade. The research method is descriptive quantitative with measurements of shell and operculum morphometry as phenotypic plasticity characters. Phenotypic plasticity analysis used non-Metric Multidimensional Scaling (nMDS) with Past 4.03 software. Based on the results of shell and operculum morphometry and nMDS similarity analysis, there were differences in the shell morphometry of Nerita argus and Nerita costata specimens from the Lampon estuary compared to specimens from the control location, namely Grajagan Beach.  Nerita argus specimens from the rocky coast of Lampon had a range of morphometric ratios that were not much different from control specimens. Based on the results of these morphometric measurements, it show that the effects of mercury pollution have a greater influence on the phenotype of the Nerita argus and Nerita costata specimens located in the Lampon estuary compared to the rocky Lampon Beach specimens. The phenotypic plasticity of Nerita argus in the Lampon estuary can be a record of the behavior of mercury affecting marine biota, because the shell and operculum of this Gastropod member are influenced by environmental factors including pollutants, especially during the process of shell formation during its life

    Resistensi obat dalam pengobatan penyakit infeksi seperti demam tifoid menjadi salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi pada saat ini. Keterediaan bahan alam yang melimpah yang diketahui berpotensi sebagai antibakteri serta perkembangan teknologi berperan penting dalam penemuan berbagai jenis alternatif antibiotik yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi penanganan penyakit. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui kemampuan ekstrak biji mangga untuk menghambat pertumbuhan Salmonella typhi. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu true experiment dengan rancangan posttest only control group design. Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium STIKES Guna Bangsa Yogyakarta pada Juli-Oktober 2023. Metode difusi digunakan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri berbagai konsentrasi ekstral biji mangga (20%,40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100%). Kloramfenikol digunakan sebagai kontrol positif terhadap zona hambat Salmonella typhi. Zona hambat pertumbuhan Salmonella typhi pada media Muller Hinton pada konsentrasi 40% (6 mm), 60% (6 mm), 80% (7 mm), dan 100% (8 mm) dengan kekuatan daya hambat pada kategori sedang. Pengujian kontrol positif menggunakan klorampenikol 30 μg menunjukkan adanya zona hambat sebesar 14 mm dengan kekuatan daya hambat pada kategori kuat, sedangkan kontrol negatif menggunakan akuades tidak terdapat adanya zona hambat pertumbuhan bakteri

    DETERMINATION OF BORAX CONTENT IN VARIOUS FOOD MATERIALS CIRCULATING IN AMBON CITY

    Food safety is a critical issue for public health, especially in developing countries like Indonesia, where the use of unauthorized food additives still occurs frequently. This study aims to analyze the presence of borax, or sodium tetraborate, in food circulating in Ambon City. The methods employed include qualitative analysis using turmeric paper and quantitative analysis through UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Out of 10 samples tested, 4 samples (40%) were positively detected to contain borax in the qualitative test. Quantitative analysis revealed borax concentrations ranging from 2.461 to 3.051 ppm, with the following details: Wayame Market Noodles (2.858 ppm), OM Supermarket Noodles (2.641 ppm), OM Supermarket Meatballs (2.935 ppm), and Mardika Market Meatballs (3.051 ppm). These findings indicate a serious health risk due to the consumption of borax-containing foods, which can lead to various health issues in both the short and long term

    One solution to overcome the problem of household organic waste is to use technology to process it into liquid organic fertilizer (POC). POC is a solution that contains one or more essential nutrients that are easily absorbed by plants. The main ingredient for making quality POC comes from organic waste, especially wet organic material with high water content, such as fruit and vegetable waste. Several types of waste, such as onion peels, orange peels and pineapple peels, can be processed into POC by adding EM4 as an activator. This research aims to process fruit and vegetable waste into POC, improve skills in making it, and compare the effectiveness of POC with NPK fertilizer on the growth of chili plants. The process of making POC is carried out by mixing onion peel, orange peel and pineapple peel waste with water, rice washing water and brown sugar solution, then adding EM4. This mixture is fermented for seven days with daily stirring and ventilation. The research results show that the POC produced has good nutritional content and can be used as organic fertilizer

    STEPPING COLORATION OF Co(OH)2/Ni(OH)2 ELECTROCHROMIC FILM PREPARED BY A SIMPLE CHEMICAL BATH DEPOSITION METHOD

    Electrochromic smart windows enable dynamic regulation of solar irradiation, thereby contributing to improved energy efficiency in building environments. In this work, Co(OH)₂/Ni(OH)₂ composite films were successfully deposited onto ITO-coated glass substrates via a facile chemical bath deposition method. Two configurations were explored: a homogeneously mixed composite and a double-layer architecture. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV–Vis spectroscopy. Both film types exhibited voltage-dependent, stepwise color modulation under applied potentials, confirming their electrochromic behavior. Notably, the mixed Co(OH)2/Ni(OH)2 film demonstrated enhanced optical modulation, with a transmittance change (ΔT) of 11.10% and an optical density change (ΔOD) of 0.09 at 0.15 V, increasing to 50.14% and 0.91 at 0.75 V. In contrast, the bilayer configuration showed significantly lower ΔT and ΔOD values of 1.36% and 0.13 at 0.15 V, and 9.64% and 0.31 at 0.75 V. These results highlight the synergistic role of Co(OH)2 in tuning the optical response of Ni(OH)₂-based electrochromic films and suggest that compositional mixing is more effective than stratified layering for optimizing optical contrast in electrochromic devices

    Senyawa reaktif yang memiliki elektron tidak berpasangan dikenal sebagai radikal bebas. Stres oksidatif, yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan sel dan dianggap sebagai faktor penyebab sejumlah penyakit degeneratif, termasuk diabetes melitus, kanker, gangguan kardiovaskular, dan kondisi neurodegeneratif, dapat disebabkan oleh ketidakseimbangan antioksidan selama proses metabolisme. Zat bioaktif dengan efek farmakologis, termasuk aktivitas antioksidan alami, telah ditemukan dalam ekstrak daun insulin ( Costus Igneus ), kunyit ( Curcuma longa L. ) dan biji pala ( Myristica fragrans Houtt ). Untuk menilai kemampuan antioksidan dari ekstrak individu dan campuran yang dibuat menggunakan formula A dan B, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghitung nilai IC 50. Untuk mengukur aktivitas antioksidan, digunakan teknik 2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH). Daun insulin, kunyit, dan biji pala menghasilkan ekstrak etanol dengan rendemen masing-masing 25,2%, 29,6%, dan 29,2%. Semua ekstrak mengandung senyawa fenolik, flavonoid, dan alkaloid, berdasarkan skrining fitokimia. Formula A dan formula B menunjukkan nilai IC50 masing -masing 113,98 µg/mL dan 108,74 µg/mL, sedangkan nilai IC50 untuk daun insulin, kunyit, dan biji pala masing-masing adalah 106,96 µg/mL, 117,90 µg/mL, dan 108,14 µg/mL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat variasi yang signifikan antara nilai IC50 masing- masing ekstrak dan campurannya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian tambahan harus dilakukan untuk memeriksa potensi efek sinergis terkait dengan regenerasi antioksidan, mekanisme pembersihan ekstrak radikal radikal, dan stabilitas serta ketersediaan bahan aktif hayati. &nbsp
