EXPLORING COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLES IN PLASTIC SURGERY PODCAST CONVERSATIONS

    No full text
This study investigates how Grice’s Cooperative Principle and Leech’s Politeness Principle function in unscripted podcast dialogues on the topic of plastic surgery. While these pragmatic frameworks have been widely applied in analyzing spoken interaction, their application in informal digital contexts such as podcasts remains underexplored. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research analyzes transcripts from two YouTube podcast episodes: Megan Fox: My Plastic Surgery Story by Call Her Daddy and Why We Became Plastic Surgeons by Dr. CalvertTV. The findings reveal that speakers generally adhere to the maxims of quality, quantity, relation, and manner, while also applying politeness strategies including tact, modesty, and agreement. However, instances of flouting were also observed, often serving rhetorical purposes such as humor, emphasis, or the negotiation of sensitive topics. The study concludes that both Gricean and Leechian principles remain relevant in analyzing digital communication. Podcast discourse provides valuable insight into how meaning, relational alignment, and conversational coherence are co-constructed in real-time, shaped by both linguistic choices and social context

Quizlet is one of the online-based language learning media in form of flashcards equipped with various features such as audio, pictures, words, quiz, and test. Research aimed to investigate whether there is any effect of Quizlet on students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher found a problem with low English vocabulary mastery of students in class eight D, which has 18 students as respondents in this research. This research is an experimental research on vocabulary mastery of students in eighth grade students of SMPU Al-Anwari Kertosari Banyuwangi in the Academic Year 2023/2024. This research used the method of one-group pre-test post-test design. The instrument used for data collection in this research is multiple-choice test with total of 30 questions consisting of nouns and verbs. For the data analysis is used t-test formula. The researcher found there is increased post-test scores. The pre-test mean score was 69.778 and the post-test mean score was 85,555. In addition, in the T-test results, the t-test value is higher than t table. The t-test value was 3,086 and the t-table was 2.110 (3.086>2.110). The result of this research is that there is a significant effect of Quizlet on vocabulary mastery of students’ of SMPU Al-Anwari Banyuwangi

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying the Make a Match learning model with and without puzzles on critical thinking skills by reviewing self-efficacy. All students of SMP Negeri 4 Karanganyar 2023/2024 class VIII became the research population, and students in class VIIIA, B, and F were selected using a cluster random sampling technique as samples. Learning models, puzzle media, and self-efficacy are determined as independent variables, while thinking skills are determined as dependent variables. Data was collected using documentation, tests, and questionnaire techniques. The hypothesis was tested by two-way ANOVA on different cells. This research can show that the application of the Make a Match learning model with and without puzzles has a positive effect on critical thinking skills in the Pythagorean theorem material with an increase in average scores of 90.078 and 87.344. The level of self-efficacy has a positive effect on critical thinking skills with an increase in the average score of 87.765 for high self-efficacy students. Apart from that it can also be seen that the effect of providing a learning model on critical thinking skills does not depend on self-efficacy, and vice versa. The Make a Match learning model can be applied to other material with modifications according to student needs, or carried out using technology to improve critical thinking skills

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mathematics learning using the PBL model with a deep learning approach based on Grebeg Syawal local wisdom on students’ mathematical creativity. The study was conducted in a quasi-experimental framework with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 36 students of class VIII-E of SMPN 3 Waru Sidoarjo. The instrument used was a test covering four indicators of creativity: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The deep learning approach was implemented through three aspects: meaningful learning, mindful learning, and joyful learning. Data analysis was performed using a paired t-test, with data normality tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The results showed a significant effect of the Grebeg Syawal local wisdom-based deep learning approach on improving students' mathematical creativity. To increase data validity and obtain a more comprehensive picture of the influence of the Grebeg Syawal local wisdom-based deep learning approach, future research could use an experimental design involving a balanced control and experimental group, or on a broader scale

Identifikasi Kematangan Cabai Rawit Menggunakan Metode Momen Warna Dan SVM

    No full text
This study focuses on the identification of the ripeness of bird's eye chili (Capsicum annuum L.) using the color moment method and Support vector machine (SVM). Bird's eye chili holds significant economic value in the agricultural industry, but the rapid and accurate identification of ripeness remains a challenge. The color moment method is employed to extract features from images of bird's eye chili, while SVM is used for classification based on the extracted features. This research expands the use of data and optimizes SVM parameters to enhance the accuracy of identification. The results indicate that the classification model using the SVM method successfully classifies the ripeness levels of chili with an accuracy of 82%, categorized as good. Specifically, it achieved a precision of 66.67%, recall of 83.33%, and F-measure of 74.07% for the "ripe" category. The "unripe" category achieved perfect precision and recall, both at 100%, with an F-measure of 100%. Meanwhile, the "half-ripe" category achieved a precision of 80.00%, recall of 77.42%, and F-measure of 78.73%. However, some misclassifications were attributed to color dominance issues in certain images. Therefore, this study contributes to the development of more accurate and efficient techniques for chili ripeness identification. Recommendations for future research involve further evaluation with a broader test dataset, improvements in classification methods, and the consideration of additional features to enhance classification accuracy. This research offers both scientific and practical benefits in image processing, machine learning, and the agricultural industr
