Hyperuricaemia and other cardiometabolic risks among type 2 diabetes patients
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of further morbidity and mortality in type 2 diabetes patients. This study aimed to find the serum lipid profile, serum uric acid levels, other CVD risk factors, and how these factors are affected by diabetes duration in adults with type 2 diabetes. The cross-sectional study, involving 100 subjects, was carried out at the Diabetes Centre, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi, Ghana. Adult type 2 diabetes patients, 20 years or older, were recruited for the study. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Adult Panel III and American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidelines were used to find the metabolic status of the patients. Of the 100 patients, 74% and 62% had high systolic blood pressure and abdominal obesity, respectively. Also, high LDL-cholesterol and hypercholesterolaemia were found in 47% and 46% of the patients, respectively. Forty-six percent (46%) of the patients were hyperuricaemic. Cardiovascular disease risk increased with age from 20 to 79 years. The female diabetics had more adverse CVD risk profile than the male diabetics (high LDL, 55% vs. 23.1%; high total cholesterol, 54.1% vs. 23.1%; high triglycerides, 32.4% vs. 30.8%; low HDL, 25.7% vs. 3.8%). Fifty percent (50%) of females compared to 34.6% of males were hyperuricaemic. However, hypertension was more prevalent among males (systolic blood pressure, 76.9%; diastolic blood pressure, 38.5%) than among females (systolic blood pressure, 73%; diastolic blood pressure, 37.8%). In conclusion, the prevalence of hyperuricaemia and other cardiometabolic risks was high among type 2 diabetes patients

Study of the Role of Personality Factors in Organizational Citizenship Behaviors
Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) as a non-mandatory cooperation with others significantly influences an organization’s performance and social capital. In this paper it has been attempted to study the role of personality traits based on the Big Five model namely, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience and neuroticism in the performing of organizational citizenship behavior, while Altruism, civic virtue, organizational conscientiousness, courtesy and sportsmanship were regarded as the main OCB dimensions. Correlation analysis on data from 56 employees of “Bank Mellat” of Tehran, revealed that there was a significant relationship between personality characteristics and OCB. The present study suggests that conscientiousness, agreeableness and emotional stability positively affect OCB. Also according to the regression model conscientiousness is the best factor to predict OCB. The current research demonstrates that neuroticism is negatively related to OCB, since it diminishes a person's ability to avoid complaining while facing organizational problems
Computational Reaction Mechanism Study of the Elimination of 2-pentanone
Theoretical studies for reaction mechanism of the gas phase elimination of 2-petnanone were carried out at B3LYP/6-31+g(d) level of theory. The mechanism for elemination is Norrish type II. The elimination reaction proceeds via a six-membered cyclic transition state with the formation of ethelene and propen-2-ol (acetone enol), which rearranges to the ketone. The calculated kinetic and thermodynamic parameters are in reasonable agreement with the reported experimental values. Analysis of the progress along the reaction coordinate, in terms of geometrical parameters suggest these reactions are dominated by the abstraction of a hydrogen atom from the ? -carbon by the carbonyl oxygen to give the diradical, and together with an important cleavage of C?-C? bond in the transition state through concerted reaction mechanism
Multiplicative Functions of Numbers Set and Logarithmic Identities. Shannon and factorial logarithmic Identities, Entropy and Coentrop
The multiplicative functions characterizing the finite set of positive numbers are introduced in the work.With their help we find the logarithmic identities which connect logarithm of sum of the set numbers and logarithmsof numbers themselves. One of them (contained in the work of Shannon) interconnects three information functions:information Hartley, entropy and coentropy. Shannon's identity allows better to understand the meaning andrelationship of these collective characteristics of information (as the characteristics of finite sets and as probabilisticcharacteristics). The factorial multiplicative function and the logarithmic factorial identity are formed also frominitial set numbers. That identity connects logarithms of factorials of integer numbers and logarithm of factorial oftheir sum
Morphological Image Processing GUI using MATLAB
In this paper, we present an overview of Morphological Image Processing and edge detection using gradient based on different operators in MATLAB and developed its GUI (Graphical User Interface). This paper describes the basic technological aspects of Digital Image Processing with reference to Morphological techniques used in image processing. The word morphology commonly denotes a branch of biology that deals with the form and structure of animals and plants. Morphological processing refers to certain operations where an object is hit with a structuring element and thereby reduced to a more revealing shape [2]. Morphology is related to the shapes and digital morphology is a way to describe and analyze the shape of a digital object in image processing. Morphological image processing GUI deals with the detection of X-Ray images and its edge detection process. The complete image processing is done using MATLAB Graphical User Interface Development Environment (GUIDE)
An Architecture of Web-based Application for Thyroid Disease Identifying
To identify the problems with thyroid gland, an algorithm based on blood test results is developed. Thisalgorithm is implemented in a web based application with client-server architecture. Three-tier architecture is used torealize the user interface, business logic and computer data storage and data access. Using the document objectmodel of the HTML and JavaScript make it is possible to create user interaction with the application. Interactionbetween JavaScript, HTML and CSS allows loading pages faster. The described web application to identify thethyroid disease has been tested in different browsers and on different operating systems and showed no errors in itswork. The developed web application can be used as a standalone application or be incorporated into otherspecialized Internet resources in the subject area
Irrigation Water Productivity of Rice under Various Irrigation Schedules and Tillage Practices in Northern Guinea Savanna Region of Nigeria
The effect irrigation method and tillage on yield and irrigation water productivity of rice was conducted in split plot experiment with three replications during the dry seasons 2012 and 2013 in field conditions at the Lake Geriyo Irrigation scheme farms in Yola, Nigeria. 3 irrigation management: 3, 6 and 9 day interval with 3 tillage practices: zero, shallow and deep soil tillage were studied. Results showed that there were significant differences in paddy yield, harvest index and irrigation water productivity. 6 days interval irrigation management was placed to one group with 3 days irrigation interval on paddy yield and harvest index; higher water productivity of 3.58 and 3.51 kg ha-1 mm-1were recorded with 6 days irrigation interval in both seasons respectively. Therefore it can be recommended that 6 day interval irrigation which had better irrigation water productivity and saved up 29% irrigation water be adopted for rice cultivation under clay loam soils of guinea savanna zone of Nigeria
Non-EU students’ potential challenges in Poland: the case of the City of Poznan
Although, internationalization of Polish higher education is a new phenomenon, Poland is gradually becoming a popular study destination among international students. However, the country still lacks extensive research works on their circumstances. This paper aims to present non-EU students’ major ongoing challenges in the City of Poznan. The findings are taken from author’s own experience and others’ research findings at Migrant Info Point – a Poznan based immigrant advisory center. It is found that non-EU students often face difficulties while legalizing their stay and looking for accommodation. Beside these, their employment prospectus is also challenged because of linguistic barriers. Furthermore, immigration rules do not favor the graduates. To some extent, European students also face many of these challenges. Respective authorities need to acknowledge and resolve these obstacles immediately in order to retain and gain popularity
