    An approach to determine pathological breast tissue samples with free-space measurement method at 24 GHz

    Pathology is an important branch of science in the diagnosis and treatment of several diseases. In cancer diseases, serious investigations have been made about the course of the diseases. A report that is essential for both the patient and the doctor is prepared by the pathologists as a result of a detailed cellular examination. These reports contain information about the disease. Access duration to these reports, which affects the form and duration of the treatment, is extremely important today. It is possible to shorten this period with systems using antenna technologies. The pathological breast tissue samples have been examined by using horn antenna structures with high gain in this study. Dual identical horn antennas have been placed opposite each other as receivers and transmitters in the measurement setup at 24 GHz. Measurements of normal and cancerous breast tissues have been made, and the normalization process has been applied to the measured scattering parameters. The different values between normal and cancerous breast tissues have been shown with this process. The normalized values are compared with other analyzed values.     İnsiziv foramenin yaş, cinsiyet ve dişsizlik durumuna göre morfolojik değerlendirilmesi

    Objective: Evaluation of the change in incisive foramen (IF) diameter and localization according to age, gender, edentulous status and other anatomical landmarks by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Method: 162 patients (81 females, 81 males, mean age 41.1+_15.2) were included in the study. IF diameter, distance between IF and the greater palatine foramen (GPF) and distance between IF and the most posterior of the median palatine bone (PNS: posterior nasal spine) were measured. The measurement values of the patients were compared with the Independent t-test according to gender and dental status. The relationship between age and measurements was examined with the Pearson correlation test. Results: The mean IF diameter of the patients was 3.78±0.95 mm. The mean IF diameter (P<.001), the distance between the right GPF and the IF (P=.023) and the distance between the IF and the PNS (P=.039) of the dentate patients were found to be significantly lower than the edentulous patients. Conclusion: The IF diameter and the IF-GPF distance were found to be lower in dentulous patients than in edentulous patients.     Stratejik Bir Tedarik Zinciri Fonksiyonu Olan Dağıtım Kanalının Seçimine Etki Eden Faktörlerin Nicel Analizi

    In today's competitive landscape, logistics capabilities are considered the most critical factor determining the market performance and competitive abilities of supply chains when competition occurs among supply chains. In this context, the sustainability of distribution channels within supply chains emerges as a strategic element. Therefore, decision-makers need to be extremely cautious in establishing distribution channels and strive to minimize errors. Considering these factors, evaluating the factors influencing the distribution channel and highlighting the features that appear more efficient and important in the selection of distribution channels will support businesses in making the right strategic decisions for distribution channel selection and play a decisive role in their competitive positions in the industry. In this study, with this aim in mind, factors affecting distribution channel choices were determined using data obtained from the literature, and these factors were evaluated by the decision-makers of businesses. The data obtained were analyzed using the DEMATEL method, a multi-criteria decision-making approach. According to the analysis, customer satisfaction was found to be the most critical factor in distribution channel selection. Additionally, value-added factors such as after-sales services, distribution speed, and resource adequacy were prioritized in distribution channel selection, and it was concluded that these features had an impact on customer satisfaction and costs.Rekabetin günümüzde tedarik zincirleri arasında gerçekleştiği düşünüldüğünde tedarik zincirlerinin pazar performanslarını ve rekabet yeteneklerini belirleyen en önemli unsur sahip oldukları lojistik kabiliyetler olmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda tedarik zincirleri içerisinde dağıtım kanallarının sürdürülebilir bir yapıya sahip olması da stratejik bir unsur olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu sebeple karar vericilerin dağıtım kanalının oluşturulmasında çok dikkatli davranmaları ve hatayı en aza indirmeye çalışmaları gerekmektedir. Bu hususlar göz önüne alındığında dağıtım kanalına etki eden faktörlerin değerlendirilerek dağıtım kanalı seçiminde diğerlerinden daha etken ve önemli görünen özelliklerin ortaya konması işletmelerin dağıtım kanalı seçimlerinde doğru strateji belirlemelerine destek olacak ve sektördeki rekabet konumlarında belirleyici olacaktır. Çalışmada bu amaçla, literatürden elde edilen veriler ile dağıtım kanalı seçimlerine etki eden unsurlar belirlenmiş ve bu faktörler işletmelerin karar vericileri tarafından değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden DEMATEL yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Analize göre, müşteri memnuniyeti faktörü dağıtım kanalı seçiminde en yüksek öneme sahip faktör olmuştur. Bununla birlikte satış sonrası hizmetler, dağıtım hızı, kaynak yeterliliği gibi katma değer sağlayan faktörlerin dağıtım kanalı seçiminde önceliklendiği ve bu özelliklerin müşteri memnuniyeti ile maliyetler üzerinde etkili olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır

    A comparison of extraction methods for preparation of glucosinolate-containing extracts from brassica juncea antagonistic toward ditylenchus dipsaci

    The stem and bulb nematode, a globally distributed pest, primarily affects onions and garlic, causing significant yield losses. Chemical treatments are a practical and effective method for controlling plant-parasitic nematodes to protect high-value crops. However, to minimise environmental damage, chemicals of natural origin need to be investigated. Brown mustard (Brassica juncea) plant is an annual plant in the Brassicaceae family, which is rich in bioactive compounds called glucosinolates. These bioactive compounds play a major role in the defence of Brassica plants against biotic stress factors in nature. Based on this point, efforts to develop plant protection products from the brown mustard plant are ongoing. In this study, the most suitable pre-extraction and extraction conditions were determined to ensure the maximum preservation of glucosinolate content and biological activity, to process brown mustard on an industrial scale. For this purpose, steam treatment was applied before extraction at 3 bar (=3 × 105 Pa) pressure for 1 and 3 min. Four different temperatures (room temperature, 40, 55 and 70°C) and two different methanol concentrations (70% and 80%) were tested to optimise glucosinolates extraction from brown mustard. It was found that sinigrin was the most abundant glucosinolate, with extraction yields 1184.4 ± 14.4 mg kg-1 at 55°C for 3 min, and 2624.2 ± 98.5 mg kg-1 at 70°C/70% MeOH for 1 min. However, nematode immobility was higher at 55°C/70% MeOH for 3 min. It was determined that the application of hot steam for 3 min at 3 bar pressure as a pre-extraction process provided optimal conditions for methanolic extraction. The results may contribute significantly to the development of potential plant protection products with further studies. © MEHMET A.     A physical classification of killing magnetic fields in thurston geometries

    In recent years, numerous studies have appeared that considered Killing vectors of three-dimensional Riemannian manifolds as magnetic fields, since these vector fields are divergenceless by definition. The existence of adivergenceless vector field modeled as a magnetic field does not imply that it is physically realizable.     Search for dark QCD with emerging jets in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

    A search for “emerging jets” produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is performed using data collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb?1. This search examines a hypothetical dark quantum chromodynamics (QCD) sector that couples to the standard model (SM) through a scalar mediator. The scalar mediator decays into an SM quark and a dark sector quark. As the dark sector quark showers and hadronizes, it produces long-lived dark mesons that subsequently decay into SM particles, resulting in a jet, known as an emerging jet, with multiple displaced vertices. This search looks for pair production of the scalar mediator at the LHC, which yields events with two SM jets and two emerging jets at leading order. The results are interpreted using two dark sector models with different flavor structures, and exclude mediator masses up to 1950 (1950) GeV for an unflavored (flavor-aligned) dark QCD model.     Tez No: 874428Bu araştırmanın amacı Kahramanmaraş ilinde kamu personellerin tükenmişlik seviyesi ve iş doyumu düzeylerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın yürütülebilmesi için etik kurul onayı ve Kahramanmaraş ilinde kamu kurumlarında resmi araştırma izin belgesi alınmıştır. Çalışma kapsamı Kahramanmaraş ilinde kamu kurumlarında çalışan toplam 406 katılımcıdan oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak 6 sorudan oluşan kişisel bilgi formu, 22 sorudan oluşan Maslach Tükenmişlik Envanteri ve 20 sorudan oluşan Minnesota İş Doyumu Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler online ortamda hazırlanan anketler uygulanarak elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada veri analizi yapılırken SPSS (27) programı kullanılmıştır. Dağılımın normalliğine karar vermek için Kolmogorov-Smirnov testi ile çarpıklık ve basıklık değerlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen değerlerin anlamlı olup olmadığının yorumlanmasında 0.05 anlamlılık düzeyi ölçüt olarak kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda; Kahramanmaraş ilinde kamu kurumlarında çalışan personellerin; medeni durum, cinsiyet ve hizmet süresinin "Minnesota İş Doyumu Ölçeği" ve "Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeğinin alt boyutlarıyla anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmemiştir. Bununla beraber Kahramanmaraş ilinde kamu kurumlarında çalışan personellerin; yaş, eğitim, cinsiyet, medeni durum, çalışma süresi ve hizmet içi eğitim alma durumu değişkenlerine göre "Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği'' ve "Minnesota İş Doyumu Ölçeği" alt boyutlarıyla anlamlılık tespit edilmiştir.The purpose of this research is to examine the burnout and job satisfaction levels of personnel working in Public Institutions in Kahramanmaraş Province. The relational screening model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. In order to conduct the research, ethics committee approval and official research permission certificate were obtained from Public Institutions in Kahramanmaraş Province. The population of the study consists of a total of 406 participants working in Public Institutions in Kahramanmaraş Province. A personal information form consisting of 6 questions, Maslach Burnout Inventory consisting of 22 questions and Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale consisting of 20 questions were used as data collection tools in the study. The data was obtained by applying surveys prepared online. SPSS (27) program was used in data analysis in the study. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and kurtosis and skewness values were used to decide the normality of the distribution. A significance level of 0.05 was used as a criterion in interpreting whether the obtained values were significant or not. As a result of our study; Personnel working in public institutions in Kahramanmaraş Province; No significant differences were detected with the sub-dimensions of the "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale" and "Maslach Burnout Scale" regarding gender, marital status and length of service. However, personnel working in Kahramanmaraş Public institutions; Significance was determined with the sub-dimensions of the "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale" and the "Maslach Burnout Scale" according to the variables of age, education, gender, marital status, working time and in-service training

    Effects of dietary supplement use during COVID-19 treatment on post-COVID academic motivation: a sample of college students

    Introduction: Although few studies have emphasized the preventive and therapeutic efficacy of dietary supplements in COVID-19, their efficacy in the postinfection period has not been focused. The aim of the current study was to examine the effects of therapeutic use of dietary supplements during COVID-19 treatment on post-COVID academic motivation in college students Methodology: The study was conducted with 1584 college students studying at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University. Three-day food consumption was recorded and anthropometric measurements (height and body weight) were taken to assess nutritional status. The Academic Motivation Scale (AMS), a 28-item 7-point Likert scale consisting of three subdimensions (amotivation, intrinsic motivation, and extrinsic motivation), was used to assess the motivational status of participants. Results: The rate of participants who survived COVID-19 was 35.9% (n = 568). There was no significant difference in AMS subscores between participants who routinely used dietary supplements and those who did not. Participants who used dietary supplements preventively had higher intrinsic motivation scores than those who did not. Lastly, all AMS subscores of COVID-19 survivors who used dietary supplements therapeutically during treatment were found to be more favorable than those who did not. However, there was no significant difference in AMS subscores between the types of dietary supplements most frequently used therapeutically. Conclusions: The finding of higher post-COVID academic motivation in COVID-19 survivors who used dietary supplements as an adjunct to treatment will make an important contribution to the literature. However, longitudinal intervention studies examining the effectiveness of specific dietary supplements in COVID-19 will undoubtedly provide more valuable results. Copyright © 2024 Adıgüzel

    A marine-derived antioxidant astaxanthin as a potential neuroprotective and neurotherapeutic agent: A review of its efficacy on neurodegenerative conditions

    Astaxanthin is a potent lipid -soluble carotenoid produced by several different freshwater and marine microorganisms, including microalgae, bacteria, fungi, and yeast. The proven therapeutic effects of astaxanthin against different diseases have made this carotenoid popular in the nutraceutical market and among consumers. Recently, astaxanthin is also receiving attention for its effects in the co -adjuvant treatment or prevention of neurological pathologies. In this systematic review, studies evaluating the efficacy of astaxanthin against different neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer 's disease, Parkinson 's disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular diseases, and spinal cord injury are analyzed. Based on the current literature, astaxanthin shows potential biological activity in both in vitro and in vivo models. In addition, its preventive and therapeutic activities against the above -mentioned diseases have been emphasized in studies with different experimental designs. In contrast, none of the 59 studies reviewed reported any safety concerns or adverse health effects as a result of astaxanthin supplementation. The preventive or therapeutic role of astaxanthin may vary depending on the dosage and route of administration. Although there is a consensus in the literature regarding its effectiveness against the specified diseases, it is important to determine the safe intake levels of synthetic and natural forms and to determine the most effective forms for oral intake
