    The perceptions and knowledge levels of bank employees on bank accounting: A field study

    Banka muhasebesi, hem bankalar tarafından kullanılan hesap ve defter sistemlerine hem bunların incelenmesine odaklanan ayrı bir muhasebe alanıdır. Banka muhasebesi, banka işlemlerinin para ve sermaye hareketlerini temsil eden değerleri içermesi ve bunların şekil değiştirmeden sadece para hareketleri ve belirli rakamlarla gösterilmesi nedeniyle diğer işletme muhasebelerine göre daha açık ve anlaşılması daha kolaydır. Banka muhasebesiyle işletme muhasebesini birbirinden ayıran en temel özellik bankaların çok sayıda şubeleriyle bir bütün hâlinde çalışmaları ve aynı zamanda işletmelerden farklı bir varlık-kaynak yapısına sahip olmalarıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bankacılık sektöründe çalışan personelin banka muhasebesi bilgi ve algı düzeyini ölçmektir. Araştırmayla hedeflenen bankacılık sektöründe çalışan kişilerin faaliyetlerini yürüttükleri iş kolunda banka muhasebesi konusunda ne kadar bilgi sahibi oldukları, banka muhasebesi işleyişiyle ne ölçüde karşılaştıkları, aldıkları eğitimin uygulanması konusunda yeterlilik düzeylerinin nasıl olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma evrenini Karaman ilinde bulunan banka çalışanları oluşturmaktadır. Anket Google Formlar uygulamasıyla çevrim içi olarak hazırlanıp, aynı zamanda yüz yüze katılımcılara ulaştırılmıştır. Katılımcıların banka muhasebesi bilgi düzeyleri, banka muhasebesi eğitimiyle ilgili düşünceleri ve banka muhasebesi algılarına yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenen demografik değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğinin tespit edilmesi için SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) programından yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, banka muhasebesinin sektör çalışanları tarafından gerekli eğitimler alınarak kullanılması gereken bir alan olduğunu göstermektedir. Yapılan işlemlerin arka planında çalışan muhasebe hesapları temel olarak çalışanlar tarafından çok fazla bilinmemekte ve alınan eğitimlerin de bu bağlamda yetersiz kaldığı görülmektedir. Üniversitelerin ilgili bölümlerinde banka muhasebesinin teorik olarak eğitiminin verilmesi sektörde çalışan personelin kalitesini bilgi, algı ve farkındalık açısından artırarak daha iyi hizmet verilmesini sağlayacağı görüşüne varılmaktadır.Bank accounting is a specialised form of accounting examining the account and ledger systems of banks and their application method. Bank accounting is clearer and easier to understand than other business accounting because bank transactions include values representing money and capital movements and these are shown only by money movements and certain figures without changing their form. The primary distinction between bank accounting and business accounting is the banks' operational structures, which involve a multitude of branches and a distinct asset-resource composition. This study investigates the level of bank accounting knowledge and perception among banking sector personnel, examining their familiarity with operational aspects and competence in applying their training. The research was conducted among employees in Karaman province using an online questionnaire created with Google Forms and distributed in person. Data analysis was performed using SPSS to determine whether participants' knowledge, training opinions, and perceptions of bank accounting varied by demographic factors. The findings of the research indicate that bank accounting is an area that should be utilized by sector employees who have received the necessary training. It is evident that the accounts in accounting, which operate in the background of transactions, are not fully understood by employees, and that the training of bank accounting they receive is inadequate in this regard. It concludes that theoretical training in university banking departments can enhance employees' knowledge, perception, and awareness. This improvement is expected to elevate the quality of personnel in the sector and lead to better service delivery

    A qualitative study about Hatay culinary culture and some dishes selected from traditional Hatay cuisine

    Tez No: 866437Hatay, dünyadaki en zengin mutfaklar arasında olup 2017 yılında UNESCO tarafından ''Gastronomi Kenti'' seçilmesi ile yıldızı daha çok parlayan iller arasında yerini almıştır. İnsanlığın kültürel bir mirası olarak düşünülen, yüzyıllardan bu yana gelen yemek kültürü, yalnızca karın doyurmak amacıyla değil, aynı zamanda cenazelerde, düğünlerde, organizasyonlarda ve dini merasimlerde toplumların vazgeçilmez bir parçası olmuştur. Türk mutfak kültürü dünyanın en zengin üç mutfağından biri olmakla beraber besleyici bir mutfaktır. Türk mutfak kültürü ülkemizin coğrafi bölgelerine ayırıp incelendiğinde çeşitliliği ve zenginliğinin değeri daha çok ortaya çıkmaktadır. Hatay mutfağında 460 kadar yemek çeşidi olup kendine has 200 çeşit yemeğe sahiptir. Hatay mutfak kültürünün oluşumunda Orta Doğu mutfağının etkisi olmakla birlikte Batı mutfak kültürünün etkisi de bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Hatay ilinde kuşaktan kuşağa aktarılmış, yıllardır yapılan yemek çeşitlerinin hazırlık aşamasından yapımına kadar geçirdiği süreçlerin tespiti amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, çorbalar, meze ve salatalar, sebze yemekleri, kebaplar ve etli yemekler ve bulgurlu yemeklerden örnekler olup 5 ana başlıkta toplam 25 çeşit yemek araştırılmıştır. Yapılan çalışma, nitel bir araştırma olup görüşme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Görüşme soruları daha önceden yapılmış benzer bir çalışmadan (Badem, 2021) alınmıştır. Çalışmada araştırılan yiyecekler, Hatay yemekleri içerisinde ilk akla gelen, genel kabul görmüş ve yaygın tüketilenlerden seçilmiş, ön araştırma sonrası karar verilerek çalışma bunlar üzerinde yapılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, çorbalardan tuzlu yoğurt, mahluta, şişberek, ekşi aşı ve aya köfte çorbaları; meze ve salatalardan cevizli biber, zeytin salatası, zahter salatası, çökelek salatası, abaganuş ve humus mezesi; sebze yemeklerinden kabak borani, şıhıl mahşi, öcce, ıspanak borani ve şeyh mualla; kebap ve etli yemeklerden tepsi kebabı, kağıt kebabı, Arap kebabı, belen tava; bulgurlu yemeklerden firik aşı, mercimekli aş, oruk, sarma içi ve patatesli köfte değerlendirilmiş, kültürün yerel temsilcileri sayılabilecek kişilerin görüşleri alınmıştır. Yapılan çalışmada, Hatay mutfağında yapılan yiyeceklerin çok eski tarihlere dayanmakla birlikte tam olarak net bir bilgi verilemediği tespit edilmiştir. Hatay ilinin çok zengin ve köklü bir mutfağa sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Jeopolitik konumu itibarı ile Orta Doğu mutfağının etkisi altında kaldığı görülmüştür. Bunun yanı sıra, çağın modern mutfağı ile geleneksel mutfağı birleştirip kendine has bir tarzı ortaya koyduğu teyit edilmiştir. Araştırmaya konu olan yemeklerin çok eskiye dayandığı tespit edilmiştir. Hatay mutfağının civar illerin mutfağı ile benzer yanlarının olduğu kanısına varılmıştır. Çalışmada Hatay mutfağında zengin baharat kullanımı da ortaya çıkmıştır. Yaygın kullanılan baharat çeşitleri; zahter (kekik), şumra (rezene), küncü (susam), joziltip (muskat), habak (reyhan), küzbara (kişniş) olarak sıralanabilir. Hatay mutfağı, kendine has bir mutfak oluşu tekrar teyit edilmiştir. Zengin mutfak kültürüne sahip olan Hatay açısından daha detaylı bir araştırma yapılması gerekmektedir.Hatay is among the richest cuisines in the world and has taken its place among the shining provinces by being selected as the "City of Gastronomy" by UNESCO in 2017. Food culture, which has been around for centuries and is considered a cultural heritage of humanity, has been an indispensable part of societies not only for filling the stomach, but also for funerals, weddings, organizations and religious ceremonies. Turkish culinary culture is one of the three richest cuisines in the world and is a nutritious cuisine. When Turkish culinary culture is divided into the geographical regions of our country and examined, the value of its diversity and richness becomes more apparent. Hatay cuisine has approximately 460 types of dishes and 200 unique dishes. Although Middle Eastern cuisine has an influence on the formation of Hatay culinary culture, there is also an influence of Western culinary culture. In this study, it was aimed to determine the processes from preparation to production of the food varieties that have been made for years and have been passed down from generation to generation in Hatay province. In the study, a total of 25 types of dishes were investigated under 5 main headings, including soups, appetizers and salads, vegetable dishes, kebabs, meat dishes and bulgur dishes. The study was a qualitative research and the interview method was used. Interview questions were taken from a similar previously conducted study (Badem, 2021). The foods investigated in the study were selected from the ones that come to mind first among Hatay dishes, are generally accepted and widely consumed, and the study was carried out on these after the preliminary research was decided. In this regard, salty yoghurt, mahluta, şişberek, sour meal-ekşi aşı and aya meatball soups are among the soups, pepper with walnuts, olive salad, zahter salad, çökelek cheese salad, abaganuş and hummus appetizer are among the appetizers and salads, and pumpkin borani, şıhıl mahşi, öcce, spinach borani and sheikh-şeyh mualla are among the vegetable dishes. and, kebab and meat dishes such as tray-tepsi kebab, paper-kağıt kebab, Arap kebab, belen pan-tava, bulgur dishes such as firik aş, lentil aş, oruk, stuffed stuffing-sarma içi and potato meatballs were evaluated and the opinions of people who can be considered as local representatives of the culture were taken. In the study, it was determined that although the foods made in Hatay cuisine date back to very old times, no clear information was given. It has been determined that Hatay province has a very rich and deep-rooted cuisine. It has been observed that it is under the influence of Middle Eastern cuisine due to its geopolitical location. In addition, it has been confirmed that it combines modern cuisine with traditional cuisine and creates a unique style. It has been determined that the dishes subject to the research date back to very old times. It has been concluded that Hatay cuisine has similarities with the cuisine of surrounding provinces. The study also revealed the rich use of spices in Hatay cuisine. Commonly used spice types listed as zahter (thyme), şumra (fennel), küncü (sesame), joziltip (nutmeg), habak (basil), küzbara (coriander). It has been reaffirmed that Hatay cuisine is a unique cuisine. More detailed research is needed for Hatay, which has a rich culinary culture

    Retrospective Evaluation of Survival and Prognostic Factors in Immune Thrombocytopenia: A Single-Center and Cross-Sectional Study

    Background and Objectives: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disease characterized by the autoantibody-mediated destruction of platelets. The treatment of ITP aims to maintain a sufficient platelet count to prevent bleeding. First-line treatment options include corticosteroids and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg), while second-line treatments include splenectomy, rituximab and other immunosuppressive agents, and thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists. This study aims to discuss the treatment methods and results from 100 patients with ITP at the Muğla Training and Research Hospital through a pharmacological approach. Materials and Methods: Demographic characteristics, clinical findings, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy results, and treatments and treatment responses at the time of diagnosis of the 100 patients with ITP who were treated and followed up in the period 2015–2023 were evaluated retrospectively. Results: In the third month after treatment, the overall response percentage was 100% in patients who received steroids only and 88% in patients who received IVIg treatment alone or in combination with steroids (p > 0.05). The most preferred second-line treatments were splenectomy (41%), eltrombopag (26%), and rituximab (10%). Bone marrow biopsy was performed in 54% of patients, where 35.1% showed increased megakaryocytes, 44.4% adequate megakaryocytes, and 14.8% decreased megakaryocytes. It is noted that eltrombopag and rituximab, in particular, yield higher complete remission rates than immunosuppressive drugs. Conclusions: Considering the side effects of immunosuppressive medications, IVIg, splenectomy, and steroid therapy, the use of new agents such as eltrombopag, which are easily tolerated and have a lower risk of side effects, is expected to increase. © 2024 by the authors

    The Effect of Brand Heritage on Intention to Donate in Non-Profit Organizations: An Evaluation within the Context of Temporal Focus and Brand Trust

    This study investigates intention to donate to nonprofit organizations with the perspective of brand heritage, brand trust, and the temporal focus of donors. The study is conducted on the long-established Turkish nonprofit organization Kızılay. Data is gathered via an online survey (n = 473) with judgmental sampling. The findings indicate that the brand heritage of a nonprofit organization affects brand trust and intention to donate. Likewise, trust in a nonprofit organization positively influences donation intention. Brand trust partially mediates the relationship between brand heritage and intention to donate. While individuals’ temporal focuses on the past and future moderate the relationship between brand heritage and brand trust, as expected, the present focus does not. The findings are expected to contribute to the branding processes and donation encouraging activities of nonprofit organizations. © 2024 Taylor & Francis

    Investigation relationship between TEC anomalies and space weather conditions: Morocco earthquake example

    The relationship between the ionosphere and earthquakes using total electron content (TEC) values has become a topic of interest, particularly since the 2000s. The idea behind this relationship is to investigate anomalies in TEC values occurring before or after earthquakes, if at all. Identifying precursors to earthquakes and aftershocks could minimize potential losses. This study examines the possible effect of the MW: 6.8 earthquake that occurred near Al Haouz, Morocco (31.058 degrees N - 8.385 degrees W) on the ionosphere. The TEC changes detected by the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE) are analyzed in conjunction with space weather conditions (solar activity index, Geomagnetic Storm and Geomagnetic Activity indices, magnetic field variation indices and Proton Density). Anomalies caused by TEC changes are analyzed using different statistical methods (1.34 sigma and Interquartile Range (IQR)). The aim of this study is to highlight differences in analyzing TEC anomalies caused by earthquakes with space weather conditions and to demonstrate that using the IQR statistical method can provide more accurate results for earthquakes with outlier TEC changes.     İnsanoğlu geçmişte beslenme ihtiyacını karşılamak için çeşitli besinler tüketmiştir. Bu besinler içerisinde et ve et ürünleri önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Et ve et ürünleri protein kaynağı olması sebebiyle günümüzde de vazgeçilmez bir gastronomik ürün olarak tercih edilmektedir. Bu bakımdan yürütülen bu araştırmanın temel amacı, et ve et ürünlerinin tarihi süreçleri hakkında bilgi edinmektir. Amaç doğrultusunda çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemleri içerisinde yer alan doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Ulusal ve uluslararası çalışmalar taranarak et ve et ürünleri tarihi hakkında detaylı bilgiye ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda ilk olarak tarih boyunca tüketilen etler hakkında genel bir bilgi verilmiştir. Daha sonra et ve et ürünleri kategorize edilerek literatür desteklenmiştir. Kategorisi yapılmış et ve et ürünleri, kasap hayvanları eti, kümes hayvanları eti, deniz ürünleri, av hayvanları eti ve diğer etler ve işlenmiş et ürünleri olarak isimlendirilmiştir. Bu başlıklar altında hangi hayvanların yer aldığı, bu hayvanların evcilleştirilmeye başlandığı yerler, nasıl yayıldığı, hangi toplumda nasıl yer tuttuklarına dair bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Araştırma sonucuna göre; kanatlı hayvanlardan ilk evcilleştirilen türün kaz, küçükbaş hayvanlardan ilk evcilleştirilen türün keçi, büyükbaş hayvanlardan ilk evcilleştirilen türün deve ve tarihsel süreçte ilk tüketilen et ürünleri arasında sakatatın yer aldığı saptanmıştır

    An Appraisal And Comparative Analysis Of Superb Microvascular İmaging With Conventional Ultrasound And MRI For Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome Management

    Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) is a common cause of hip pain and is often associated with chronic lower back pain and lower extremity osteoarthritis. Its diagnosis is clinical; however, imaging has been shown to aid in the differential diagnosis of challenging cases. Superb microvascular imaging (SMI) is a new technique that may be more effective than power Doppler ultrasonography (PDUS) in the detection of inflammation-related vascularity in patients. In this study, we aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracies of SMI and PDUS in patients with GTPS and evaluate the usefulness of these techniques in clinical practice. We recruited 37 GTPS patients and 15 healthy volunteers for participation in this study. PDUS and SMI examinations were performed and we retrospectively reviewed the magnetic resonance imaging scans for tendinosis, tears, and edema. The PDUS and SMI were positive in 19 and 31 hips, respectively. Both techniques had low sensitivity but high specificity and positive predictive values, with SMI being slightly better. PDUS and SMI had accuracies of 75% and 82.7%, respectively, with a grade 1 vascularization threshold. Moreover, magnetic resonance imaging detected peritendinous edema with an accuracy of 60.5%, including tendinosis and partial tears but not complete tendon tears. Our study showed that PDUS is an underutilized modality in the diagnosis of GTPS and that SMI may further improve diagnostic accuracy. However, the low sensitivity of both techniques suggests that a clinical diagnosis remains essential

    Dimensions and outcomes of experiential quality in the fitness industry: the case of Turkey

    Purpose: The user experience during the use of activities and services is a fundamental aspect for sports managers and can provide a competitive advantage. The purpose of this study was to identify the dimensions of experiential quality and the relationship of this construct with customer trust and customer satisfaction in achieving behavioral intention. Design/methodology/approach: Using a convenience sampling technique, a total of 322 gym users in Turkey participated. A two-step approach was used to test both the model and the research hypotheses [confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM)]. Findings: The interaction quality, physical environmental quality, outcome quality and enjoyment quality were positively related to experiential quality. Similarly, the experimental quality was positively related to customer satisfaction and customer trust. Finally, customer satisfaction was related to behavioral intentions. Originality/value: This study provides empirical evidence about the importance of experiential quality to gain a competitive advantage in the context of fitness centers. © 2024, Ali Sevilmiş, Mehmet Doğan, Pablo Gálvez-Ruiz and Jerónimo García-Fernández

    Business analytics in customer lifetime value: An overview analysis

    In customer-oriented systems, customer lifetime value (CLV) has been of significant importance for academia and marketing practitioners, especially within the scope of analytical modeling. CLV is a critical approach to managing and organizing a company's profitability. With the vast availability of consumer data, business analytics (BA) tools and approaches, alongside CLV models, have been applied to gain deeper insights into customer behaviors and decision-making processes. Despite the recognized importance of CLV, there is a noticeable gap in comprehensive analyses and reviews of BA techniques applied to CLV. This study aims to fill this gap by conducting a thorough survey of the state-of-the-art investigations on CLV models integrated with BA approaches, thereby contributing to a research agenda in this field. The review methodology consists of three main steps: identification of relevant studies, creating a coding plan, and ensuring coding reliability. First, relevant studies were identified using predefined keywords. Next, a coding plan-one of the study's significant contributions-was developed to evaluate these studies comprehensively. Finally, the coding plan's reliability was tested by three experts before being applied to the selected studies. Additionally, specific evaluation criteria in the coding plan were implemented to introduce new insights.     Search for a third-generation leptoquark coupled to a ? lepton and a b quark through single, pair, and nonresonant production in proton-proton collisions at ?s=13 TeV

    A search is presented for a third-generation leptoquark (LQ) coupled exclusively to a tau lepton and a b quark. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1). Events with tau leptons and a varying number of jets originating from b quarks are considered, targeting the single and pair production of LQs, as well as nonresonant t-channel LQ exchange. An excess is observed in the data with respect to the background expectation in the combined analysis of all search regions. For a benchmark LQ mass of 2 TeV and an LQ-b-tau coupling strength of 2.5, the excess reaches a local significance of up to 2.8 standard deviations. Upper limits at the 95% confidence level are placed on the LQ production cross section in the LQ mass range 0.5-2.3 TeV, and up to 3 TeV for t-channel LQ exchange. Leptoquarks are excluded below masses of 1.22-1.88 TeV for different LQ models and varying coupling strengths up to 2.5. The study of nonresonant tau tau production through t-channel LQ exchange allows lower limits on the LQ mass of up to 2.3 TeV to be obtained.BMBWFWe congratulate our colleagues in the CERN accelerator departments for the excellent performance of the LHC and thank the technical and administrative staffs at CERN and at other CMS institutes for their contributions to the success of the CMS effort.
