    Biopolymer supported silicon carbide for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction

    In photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reactions, SiC catalyst was templated with biopolymers (cellulose, chitin, chitosan, sodium alginate) in a reaction medium containing eosin Y dye and triethanolamine. Biopolymers act as biotemplate and mediator, provide easy dispersion, hydrophilicity, morphological transformation and adhesion to semiconductor with the help of functional groups. The photo-deposition of MoSx and Pt in aqueous solution is performed on biopolymer-SiC nanocomposite to obtain biopolymer-SiC/MoSx and biopolymer-SiC/Pt by reducing (NH4)2MoS4 and H2PtCl6·6H2O, respectively. Sodium alginate-SiC/MoSx showed highest photocatalytic activity which is approximately 158-, 34- and 13 times higher than bare SiC, bare sodium alginate and sodium alginate-SiC catalyst, respectively. Moreover, the solar-to-hydrogen efficiencies are achieved about 19.83% under solar light irradiation for the sodium alginate-SiC/MoSx catalyst. In addition, photo-deposited MoSx and Pt on biopolymer-SiC nanocomposite resulted in enhanced photocatalytic activity and stability because of increased active sites and enhanced electron transfer ability due to the co-catalyst effect

    Tez No: 869433Çalışma Kardeş Bağlanma Envanteri'nin Türkçe versiyonunun kültürlerarası uyarlamasını yapmak, geçerliğini ve güvenirliğini incelemek amacıyla yapıldı. Kardeş Bağlanma Envanteri uyarlama çalışması, 14-18 yaş arasında liselerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerle metodolojik tipte gerçekleştirildi. Çalışma için, 6 farklı okulda olmak üzere 589 öğrenciden veri toplandı. Verilerin toplanmasında Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Kardeş Bağlanma Envanteri, Ebeveyn ve Arkadaşlara Bağlanma Envanteri Gözden Geçirilmiş Formu (EABE-G) kullanıldı. Öğrencilerin %31,1'inin erkek, yaş ortalamasının 15,77±0,98 ve %34,3'ünün 9. sınıfta öğrenim gördüğü saptandı. Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin %82,9'unun ailesiyle birlikte yaşadığı, %97,5'inin anne-babasının hayatta olduğu, %73,7'sinin annesinin herhangi bir işte çalışmadığı, %92,7'sinin babasının çalıştığı görüldü. Öğrencilerin % 64'ünün en az 2 ve daha fazla kardeşinin olduğu, %4,6'sının kardeşinde engel veya kronik hastalığın olduğu bulundu. Kardeş Bağlanma Envanteri'nin kapsam geçerliği 0,91 olarak saptandı. Açımlayıcı faktör analizi ile 3 faktörlü yapı bulundu ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi ile yapı doğrulandı. Güvenirliğe yönelik olarak Cronbach alfa katsayısı 0,93 bulundu. Test tekrar test sonuçlarında Kardeş Bağlanma Envanteri sınıf için uyumunun %91,6 olduğu saptandı. Kardeş Bağlanma Envanteri Türkçe versiyonunun ülkemizde kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğu görüldü.The study was conducted to make an intercultural adaptation of the Turkish version of the Sibling Attachment Inventory and to examine its validity and reliability. The sibling Attachment Inventory adaptation study was carried out as a methodological type with students studying in high schools between the ages of 14-18. Data was collected from 589 students in 6 different schools for the study. Introductory Information Form, Sibling Attachment Inventory, and Parent and Friends Attachment Inventory Revised Form (EABE-G) were used to collect the data. It was determined that 31.1% of the students were male, the average age was 15.77±0.98, and 34.3% were studying in the 9th grade. It was seen that 82.9% of the students participating in the study lived with their families, 97.5% had parents alive, 73.7% had mothers who did not work in any job, and 92.7% had fathers. It was found that 64% of the students had at least 2 or more siblings, and 4.6% of their siblings had a disability or chronic disease. The content validity of the Sibling Attachment Inventory was found to be 0.91. A 3-factor structure was found with exploratory factor analysis and the structure was confirmed with confirmatory factor analysis. Regarding reliability, the Cronbach alpha coefficient was found to be 0.93. Test-retest results revealed that the Sibling Attachment Inventory had a 91.6% fit for the class. The Turkish version of the Sibling Attachment Inventory was a valid and reliable tool that can be used in our country

    Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the sleep condition indicator: a clinical screening instrument based on the dsm-5 criteria for insomnia

    Purpose: We aimed to adapt the Turkish Sleep Condition Indicator (SCI) version and examine its psychometric properties among the general population. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. The item-total correlation, standard error of measurement, Cronbach’s α, and McDonald’s ω were used for internal consistency. We ran confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and network analysis to confirm the factor structure. Multigroup CFA was run to assess the measurement invariance across gender, whether clinical insomnia or not, and poor sleep quality. We correlated SCI scores with Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores to evaluate construct validity. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted to calculate the cut-off score of the SCI. The temporal stability was examined with the intraclass correlation coefficient. Results: Eight hundred thirty-four participants attended. Over half of the participants were women (63.2% n = 527); the mean age was 36.15 ± 9.64. Confirmatory factor and network analysis results show that the two-factor correlated model had a good model fit for the SCI. The SCI had scalar level invariance across gender, having clinical insomnia and poor sleep quality in the Multigroup CFA. ROC curve analysis shows that the SCI has good sensitivity (90.3%) and specificity (91.8%) for cut-off ≤ 15. The intraclass correlation coefficient computed between the first and second SCI total scores was significant (r=0.80 with a 95% confidence interval from 0.78 to 0.87; p < 0.001). Conclusion: The Turkish SCI is a practical self-reported insomnia scale with good psychometric properties that can be used to screen for insomnia disorder

    The effects of dry needling and face yoga on pain, depression, function, and sleep quality in patients with temporomandibular dysfunction

    Context: Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) poses significant challenges due to its diverse symptoms and impact on patients' daily lives. Objective: This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of two innovative interventions, dry needling and face yoga, in managing TMD-related issues such as pain, depression, and sleep quality. Design and study participants: Ninety patients with TMD symptoms were enrolled in a prospective randomized controlled trial. The patients were divided into three groups: dry needling, face yoga, and a control group. Various assessments, including Visual Analog Scale for pain, Beck Depression Inventory for depression, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index for sleep quality, were conducted before and 6 weeks after the interventions. Results: A decrease in pain levels and a statistically significant increase in jaw joint movements (mouth opening, protrusive movement, lateral movements) were observed in the dry needling and face yoga groups after treatment (p <0.05). Additionally, improvements in sleep quality were observed (p <0.05). Conclusion: Dry needling and face yoga interventions demonstrated efficacy in managing TMD symptoms, including pain relief and improved jaw movement. The findings suggest that these interventions can be valuable additions to the treatment regimen for patients suffering from TMD-related issues. However, further research is warranted to explore the long-term effects and mechanisms underlying these interventions in TMD management

    PubMed ID: 38436644Epileptic seizures are seen as a result of changing excitability balance depending on the deterioration in synaptic plasticity in the brain. Neuroplastin, and its related molecules which are known to play a role in synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter activities that provide balance of excitability and, different neurological diseases, have not been studied before in epilepsy. In this study, a total of 34 Sprague–Dawley male and female rats, 2 months old, weighing 250–300 g were used. The epilepsy model in rats was made via pentylenetetrazole (PTZ). After the completion of the experimental procedure, the brain tissue of the rats were taken and the histopathological changes in the hippocampus and cortex parts and the brain stem were investigated, as well as the immunoreactivity of the proteins related to the immunohistochemical methods. As a result of the histopathological evaluation, it was determined that neuron degeneration and the number of dilated blood vessels in the hippocampus, frontal cortex, and brain stem were higher in the PTZ status epilepticus (SE) groups than in the control groups. It was observed that neuroplastin and related proteins TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6), Gamma amino butyric acid type A receptors [(GABA(A)], and plasma membrane Ca2+ ATPase (PMCA) protein immunoreactivity levels increased especially in the male hippocampus, and only AMPA receptor subunit type 1 (GluA1) immunoreactivity decreased, unlike other proteins. We believe this may be caused by a problem in the mechanisms regulating the interaction of neuroplastin and GluA1 and may cause problems in synaptic plasticity in the experimental epilepsy model. It may be useful to elucidate this mechanism and target GluA1 when determining treatment strategies

    Nonstationary energy of perfect fluid sources in general relativity

    The Arnowitt-Deser-Misner (ADM) energy for asymptotically flat spacetimes or its generalizations to asymptotically nonflat spacetimes measure the energy content of a stationary spacetime, such as a single black hole. Such a stationary energy is given as a geometric invariant of the spatial hypersurface of the spacetime and is expressed as an integral on the boundary of the hypersurface. For nonstationary spacetimes, there is a refinement of the ADM energy, the so-called Dain's invariant that measures the nonstationary part, the gravitational radiation component, of the total energy. Dain's invariant uses the metric and the extrinsic curvature of the spatial hypersurface together with the so-called approximate Killing initial data and vanishes for stationary spacetimes. In our earlier work [E. Altas and B. Tekin, Nonstationary energy in general relativity, Phys. Rev. D 101, 024035 (2020)PRVDAQ2470-001010.1103/PhysRevD.101.024035], we gave a reformulation of the nonstationary energy for vacuum spacetimes in the Hamiltonian form of general relativity written succinctly in the Fischer-Marsden form. That formulation is relevant for merging black holes or other compact sources. Here we extend this formulation to nonvacuum spacetimes with a perfect fluid source. This is expected to be relevant for spacetimes that have a compact star, say a neutron star colliding with a black hole or another nonvacuum object

    In this work, the excitation functions of 10B(d,n)11C, 11B(d,n)12C, 11B(d,2n)11C, 11B(d,p)12B, 12C(d,n)13N, 12C(d,t)11C and 12C(d, (Formula presented.))10B reactions were considered by theoretical models available in EMPIRE 3.2.3, TALYS 1.95 and ALICE/ASH codes from threshold up to 30 MeV energy. Nuclear model calculations were performed using different input parameters for the equilibrium and pre-equilibrium reaction processes. Various nuclear models were used to analyze the contribution of the PCROSS mean free path value, initial exciton number and level density models on excitation functions. The present data were compared with the available literature experimental data to examine the validity of the nuclear models

    Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the 20-item jaw functional limitation scale

    WOS:001185235600001 PubMed ID:38482884Purpose: This study aimed to translate the 20-item Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS-20) into Turkish (JFLS-20-TR) and investigate the psychometric properties of the JFLS-20-TR. Methods: This study included 232 patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and 130 individuals without TMD. Structural (with confirmatory factor analysis [CFA]), convergent (with pain intensity, Fonseca Anamnestic Index [FAI], and Oral Health Impact Profile [OHIP-14]), discriminant (with maximum mouth opening [MMO]) and known-group validity were investigated to assess the construct validity. Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC2,1) for test-retest reliability were calculated. Additionally, content and face validity, smallest detectable change (SDC95), and floor/ceiling effects were evaluated. Results: According to CFA, the model fit indices were acceptable for JFLS-20-TR, confirming structural validity. Strong correlations were found between the global and subdomain scores of the JFLS-20-TR and pain intensity (r >= 0.80), FAI (r >= 0.83), OHIP-14 (r >= 0.76), and MMO (r >= -0.79) scores, confirmed the convergent and discriminant validity of the JFLS-20-TR. In addition, JFLS-20-TR differentiated between patients with TMD and individuals without TMD (p < .05). Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha values: 0.91-0.93) was excellent, and test-retest reliability (ICC2,1 values: 0.91-0.95) was high. Content and face validity were satisfactory. The SDC95 values ranged from 0.79 to 1.43. No floor or ceiling effects were observed. Conclusion: The JFLS-20-TR is a valid, reliable, and useful tool for assessing jaw functional limitations in Turkish-speaking patients with TMD

    Mathematical modeling of the Southeastern Turkey earthquake (Pazarcık, Mw 7.8) using TEC data

    WOS:001136967600001Southeastern Turkey perished by the Mw 7.8, Kahramanmaras earthquake on February 6, 2023, at 01:17 UT (04:17 LT). The Kahramanmaras-centered event, hit by the break of the East Anatolian Fault Line, is felt in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, and Cyprus on the border of Turkey. Together with Syria, it causes loss of lives and severe damage in 10 cities. This work is dedicated to the people of the region. The study discusses the causality of anomalies by conducting ionospheric anomaly research via the interpolated TEC map obtained from the CODE according to the coordinates of the epicenter of the earthquake (latitude, longitude). The TEC amplitudes are observed by evolving the time-domain TEC map into the frequency-domain with the Fourier transform. The peaks of the amplitudes allow preliminary information for the anomaly days. For the anomaly, the TEC (TECU) boundaries are drawn by the statistical specification. The TEC map outside these boundaries is marked as an anomaly. The causality of abnormalities is tried to be read through the triad of the geomagnetic storm(s), solar activity, and the earthquake effect. One can find seven anomaly days in the paper. January 30, February 2, 3, 11, 15, 16, and 21 are the anomaly days. The essay probably detects the anomaly before 3 days related to the Southeastern earthquake

    Qualitative analysis of school re-entry experiences of turkish survivors of childhood and adolescent cancer: Parental perspective

    PubMed ID: 38413308Objective: This study aimed to explore the school re-entry experiences of Turkish survivors of childhood and adolescent cancer. Data Sources: In this qualitative study, semistructured in-depth interviews were undertaken with parents of childhood cancer survivors who had completed treatment for at least 2 years (n = 20). Interviews were conducted via telephone or video conferencing. The study was conducted and reported according to the COREQ (Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research) guidelines. The components of qualitative rigor were considered to ensure confidence in the methods and data. Conclusions: The average age of parents was 43.20 ± 4.66 years (range 37-55) (n = 20). The mean age of survivors was 8.45 ± 2.03 years at diagnosis and 15.05 ± 2.08 years during the study. The diagnosis of most of the survivors was lymphoma (35%). Four main themes were developed: worry; challenging situations; negative effects of the disease process; and facilitating situations. Parents stated that both children and parents need support during the school re-entry process. Implication for Nursing Practice: This study revealed that survivors may experience problems that make school re-entry difficult. With cooperation between the health team and the school, arrangements should be made to ensure survivors have a positive experience on school re-entry. Pediatric oncology nurses should know survivors' requirements and take action to deliver school re-entry adjustment programs
