    On the genus and crosscap of the extended sum annihilating-ideal graph of commutative rings

    In the context of a commutative ring with unity, denoted as S, and its associated set of annihilating ideals A(S), there exists a graph known as the extended sum annihilating-ideal graph, denoted as AGΩ(S). This graph has its vertex set derived from the set A(S)*, and it exhibits a specific pattern of connections between its vertices. More precisely, two distinct vertices, referred to as ℑ1 and ℑ2, are linked by an edge if and only if one of the following conditions holds: either ℑ1ℑ2=0 or ℑ1 +ℑ2 ∈ A(S). In the following research paper, we delve into the classification of Artinian commutative rings, denoted as S, with a particular focus on those where the extended sum annihilating-ideal graph takes on one of three distinct forms: a double toroidal graph, a projective plane, or a Klein bottle. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025

    Digital public administration and digital cities

    Technological development, which has reached a dizzying pace in our age, brings many changes. The most important of these changes is the increase and differentiation of citizens' demands from public administration in parallel with the development of information and communication technologies. To respond to these demands, public administrations have entered into a digital transformation process, although at varying levels. While public administrations are digitalized, cities, which are where increasing and differentiating demands are concentrated, have their share in this process. As a matter of fact, the areas where public services are demanded intensively are mostly urban areas. For this reason, parallel to the digitalization of public administration, cities have also started to digitalize and become smart. In this context, cities are trying to adapt to this digitalization trend with the concepts of a digital city, an intelligent city, and a smart city. This study first explains the concepts of digital city, intelligent city, and smart city, which correspond to similar but different phenomena and are often wrongly used interchangeably. In addition, it reveals the reasons why there are no examples of smart cities designed from a holistic perspective, except for a few singular examples in the world, and how the smart city vision can be achieved. © 2025 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.     Evaluation of the accuracy of cameriere, modified cameriere and willems and blenkin-evans methods for turkish children

    Objective: Age determination aims to determine an individual's physiological age without information about the individual's chronological age (CA) or in forensic situations in a way that does not cause loss of legal rights. The study aimed to evaluate the suitability of Cameriere (CM), Modified Cameriere (MCM) for Turkish children, Willems (WM), and Blenkin-Evans methods (BEM) for Turkish children. Design: A total of 616 Panoramic images of 321 female and 295 male healthy children from the Central Anatolia region aged between 6 and 14.99 years were used for the study. Individuals were grouped according to their age and gender (18 groups). Kruskal-Wallis test was used to evaluate the appropriateness of the methods, and intra- and interobserver agreement was statistically evaluated using the Intra-Interclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) (p < .05). Results: The CA- estimated age (EA) difference was underestimated by 0.49, 0.45, and 0.20 years with MCM, WM, and BEM, respectively, and overestimated by 0.22 years with CM for girls; underestimated by 0.52, 0.43, and 0.12 years with MCM, WM, and BEM, respectively, and overestimated by 0.17 years with CM for boys (p < .005). Conclusion: If groups are evaluated separately, the closest results to CA for both sexes were obtained with CM. However, when the mean age difference for all age groups is evaluated by gender, the closest results to all individuals' CA were obtained using the BEM. Accordingly, if it is desired to modify a valid age determination method for a population, children from different provinces should be included in the sample group, especially in countries like Turkiye, where many different ethnic origins live together. © 2024 The Author

    Robust pixel-level image encryption algorithm using 3D infinite collapse coupling map

    Chaotic map, due to its excellent unpredictability and complexity, is widely used in various fields, such as information security, information communication, and system control, etc., thus research work is being intensified to improve its chaotic characteristics. In this work, based on the published literatures, we proposed a noble 3D-ICCM (3D Infinite Collapse Coupling Map) by combining three 1D infinite collapse maps, so as to improve its chaotic performance and evaluated its chaotic characteristics. As can be seen from the bifurcation characteristic diagram from experiments, the distribution is very uniform and Lyapunov exponent has an average value of 2.5 over the whole chaotic characteristic range, and the information entropy also has a value of over 7.99. In addition, it has a value of over 0.1 for all 15 test parameters of NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) statistical tests. This demonstrates that the proposed 3D-ICCM is completely random, and has better chaotic properties than the previous 3D maps, especially the 3D-ICM (3D Infinite Collapse Map). In addition, in order to validate applicability of the proposed 3D-ICCM to image encryption, simple-structured pixel-level image encryption algorithm with our 3D-ICCM is designed and its robustness is verified through experiments. The experimental results convinced that the proposed image encryption algorithm has a sufficient key sensitivity and super ability to resist differential, Chosen-plaintext, cropping and noise attacks.     Im/mobility in a disruptive time: the impact of Covid-19 on the size and directional flow of international student mobility

    The share of internationally mobile students has risen exponentially for the last two decades until the disruptive COVID-19 period, leading to a more diverse and multipolar network structure. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused restrictions across the globe. This systematic review aims to explore how COVID-19 has affected the magnitude, flows, and direction of internationally mobile students. A total of 57 studies, retrieved from several databases after extensive search, were analyzed regarding the dimensions of size, flow, direction, and pattern in international student mobility during the pandemic. The review suggests that following the pandemic, international student mobility was still dominated by the top-tier countries due to their swift actions and incremental policies, while some other countries gained visibility for international students and attracted more international students owing to students' safety concerns and revised international student policies of the countries. Further, students' study abroad decisions from source countries seemed to be shaped by the policies and regulations implemented during the pandemic, the political environment of the destination country, and personal concerns about safety and getting the most out of the study abroad experience. These factors reshaped the directional flow of international student mobility and study modality, particularly concerning regionalization and digital transformation for higher education institutions

    Physical, nutritional, and bioactive components, in vitro starch digestibility, and textural and organoleptic properties of Beyşehir tarhana with various oleaster parts

    Background and ObjectiveThis study has three main objectives: (1) to analyze the physical and nutritional properties, bioactive component concentrations, and in vitro digestibility of Bey & scedil;ehir tarhana containing different parts of oleaster; (2) to investigate the effect of incorporating oleaster on textural properties; and (3) to evaluate the influence of the different parts of oleaster on the organoleptic characteristics of Bey & scedil;ehir tarhana. FindingsThe control tarhana showed higher L* and b* values, while tarhana samples with various oleaster parts exhibited the highest a* value (p < .05). Incorporating oleaster components led to significant alterations in protein, ash, fat, dietary fiber, in vitro starch digestibility, total phenolic substance, antioxidant capacity, and the texture and organoleptic properties of Bey & scedil;ehir tarhana compared to the control (p < .05). ConclusionsThe production of Bey & scedil;ehir tarhana containing different parts of oleaster components led to highly encouraging outcomes, presenting an exciting opportunity for its future production. Significance and NoveltyBey & scedil;ehir tarhana differs from traditional tarhana as it undergoes a less extensive fermentation process. It can be consumed as is, or after frying or baking.     Search for a standard model-like Higgs boson in the mass range between 70 and 110 GeV in the diphoton final state in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

    The results of a search for a standard model-like Higgs boson decaying into two photons in the mass range between 70 and 110 GeV are presented. The analysis uses the data set collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV corresponding to integrated luminosities of 36.3 fb(-1), 41.5 fb(-1) and 54.4 fb(-1) during the 2016, 2017, and 2018 LHC running periods, respectively. No significant excess over the background expectation is observed and 95% cofidence level upper limits are set on the product of the cross section and branching fraction for decays of an additional Higgs boson into two photons. The maximum deviation with respect to the background is seen for a mass hypothesis of 95.4 GeV with a local (global) significance of 2.9 (1.3) standard deviations.
