    Get PDF
The usage of geosynthetics to improve the bearing capacity on granular material of embankment construction is worldwide familiar applied. The paper elaborates the lateral displacement of embankment inserted geosynthetics resulted vertical load on the top of embankment. This type of construction is applied like Mechanically Stabilized Earth- Retaining Wall (MSE-RW). Varied distances of inserted geosynthetics with low tensile strength on granular material of embankment for 20, 30, 40, 60 respectively cm installed on totally 140 cm-high of embankment. Each of layer is installed with varied distances with 120 cm -wide must be wrapped in order to avoid loses grains of granular material of embankment. The varied vertical surcharge at the above of embankment started with 19, 34, 49 kg respectively. The result of research indicates that number layer with inserted geosynthetics on granular material of embankment influences the lateral deflections which much more layers of geosynthetics or smaller vertical distance of geosynthetics provides smaller lateral deflection.  Beside that increased vertical load implies the lateral deflection is increased

    Get PDF
Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) is a mixed material between bleaching earth and organic compounds derived from bleached crude oil. In addition, spent bleaching earth still contains a component of phosphoric acid. This phosphoric acid comes from the degumming process which is brought to the bleaching process by oil. According to Government Regulation Number 22/21 concerning Implementation of Environmental Management and Protection, this spent bleaching earth is classified as non-B3 waste depth. Chemical stabilization is by mixing chemicals into the soil material which causes a chemical reaction to occur between the mixing material and the soil which will produce new materials that have better quality. From the results of the physical properties experiment, it was found that the mixture with the optimum value for soil-lime stabilization was 10% SBE

    Get PDF
Free Nutritious Meal Program (FNMP) in Indonesia, introduced as a national initiative to combat malnutrition and improve student health outcomes, reflects a significant policy intervention within the country\u27s broader education and health agendas. This study applies a PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) analysis to critically evaluate the policy’s macro-environmental context, aiming to identify enabling and constraining factors that influence its implementation and sustainability. The primary objective is to investigate how external forces impact the effectiveness and scalability of the FNMP, particularly in diverse socio-economic and geographic regions of Indonesia. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study synthesizes policy documents, governmental reports, media sources, and relevant academic literature published between 2025. Data were coded thematically based on the six PESTLE dimensions to capture complex interdependencies affecting the policy’s rollout. The findings reveal that strong Political will and presidential backing significantly propel the program’s legitimacy and funding, while Economic challenges, such as inflation and budget reallocation, pose sustainability risks. Social, the program is well-received, especially in underprivileged areas, though disparities in community engagement remain. Technological limitations in food distribution logistics and monitoring systems are key operational barriers. Legal, the lack of binding regulatory frameworks weakens enforcement, and Environmentally, issues related to food waste and sustainable sourcing are under-addressed. In conclusion, while the FNMP holds considerable potential for improving child nutrition and educational outcomes, its long-term success depends on multi-sectoral collaboration, robust policy enforcement, and adaptive strategies

Enhancing Maritime Security: Challenges and Strategies in Indonesia\u27s Natuna Sea

    Get PDF
The Natuna Sea, a strategic region within Indonesia\u27s exclusive economic zone, faces multifaceted maritime security challenges that threaten national sovereignty, economic interests, and regional stability. This abstract explores the key issues and strategic responses to enhance maritime security in this vital area. Indonesia\u27s maritime security challenges in the Natuna Sea are driven by illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, territorial disputes, and transnational crimes such as smuggling and human trafficking. The encroachment of foreign fishing vessels, particularly from neighboring countries, exacerbates the IUU fishing problem, undermining local economies and depleting fish stocks. Additionally, overlapping territorial claims, particularly with China, complicate Indonesia\u27s efforts to assert its sovereignty and maintain peace in the region. To address these challenges, Indonesia has developed a comprehensive maritime security strategy that includes diplomatic, legal, and operational measures. Diplomatic efforts focus on strengthening regional cooperation through ASEAN and other multilateral forums to foster dialogue and build consensus on maritime security issues. Legal measures involve the enforcement of national and international laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), to uphold Indonesia\u27s territorial rights and combat IUU fishing. Operationally, Indonesia has enhanced its maritime patrols, surveillance capabilities, and naval presence in the Natuna Sea. The establishment of the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) and the deployment of advanced technology, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and satellite monitoring, have improved the detection and interdiction of illegal activities. Despite these efforts, challenges persist due to resource constraints, coordination issues among agencies, and the complex geopolitical landscape. This abstract underscores the importance of a holistic and adaptive approach to maritime security, integrating diplomatic, legal, and operational strategies

Science learning cannot be separated from the environmental context, including local wisdom. One of the treatments known among the people of Padang City is Paureh. Paureh is a concoction consisting of pieces of leaves of medicinal plants which function for the treatment of fever, measles, regurgitation, new homes and so on. The purpose of this research is to analyze and reconstruct the community\u27s knowledge (indigenous science) about Paureh into scientific knowledge in order to find out the types of diseases, traditional medicinal methods and medicinal plants used and it is hoped that it can also contribute information to ethnobotany enthusiasts in developing technology for the utilization of medicinal plants used by various ethnic groups in Indonesia. This study uses an ethnoscience-based qualitative approach with interview and observation methods. Data analysis uses the Miles-Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. Based on the results of the study, it showed that the Paureh material had ethnomedicin value that could be used by the community. Reconstruction from community knowledge to scientific knowledge gives scientific meaning to the rules or beliefs that belong to the local community. So that scientific knowledge can be used as a source of learning, especially in science learning
