The Role of Subdistrict Election Committees in Increasing Electoral Participation Among Generation Zillennials
The Zillennial generation faces multifaceted challenges in electoral participation, including political apathy, skepticism toward governance systems, and misinformation spread via social media. This study examines the role of the Subdistrict Election Committee (PPK) in Lakbok Subdistrict, Ciamis Regency, Indonesia, in addressing these barriers and enhancing voter engagement among Zillennials during the 2024 General Election. Employing a quantitative-descriptive approach, the research conducted interviews with 27 purposively sampled informants, including election officials, academics, party volunteers, and generational representatives. Data were analyzed using categorical identification based on ideal average value (Mi) and ideal standard deviation (SDi) to evaluate the effectiveness of PPK strategies. Findings reveal four critical roles of the PPK: (1) conducting technical guidance sessions from the General Election Commission (KPU) to district-level committees, emphasizing voter education and digital communication strategies; (2) improving accessibility and transparency through open data dissemination and inclusive outreach programs; (3) leveraging social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to deliver engaging, visual electoral content tailored to Zillennial preferences; and (4) organizing offline voter education initiatives, such as workshops and community dialogues, to foster direct engagement. The study highlights that these roles significantly boosted Zillennial participation by addressing their unique needs for tech-savvy, transparent, and interactive communication. Notably, technical guidance sessions for PPK members (e.g., 25 sessions on voter education) correlated with increased youth turnout, while social media campaigns achieved high engagement rates through infographics and short videos. Recommendations include top-down optimization of PPK programs, structural integration of digital tools, and collaborative efforts with Zillennial communities to sustain democratic participation. This research contributes to electoral studies by demonstrating the importance of localized, adaptive strategies in bridging generational gaps in political engagement, particularly in Indonesia’s evolving democratic landscape

The Dilemmatic Relationship Between Indonesia’s Government and Individuals in the Case of Runaway First or #KaburAjaDulu
This research analyzes the dilemmatic relationship of Indonesia’s runaway first or #KaburAjaDulu. In this phenomenon, individuals used social media Twitter to make a protest toward Indonesia’s government about runaway first, which they did not want to return to Indonesia after finishing their education in abroad. It has attracted public attention both domestic and international because it has raised a public concern about situation and condition in Indonesia. While several articles explained the causes of this phenomenon, the comprehensive understanding of the cause of it is yet nonexistent in literature. Therefore, this research aims to make clear of relational cause of this phenomenon. By using qualitative method and stag hunt game theory, this research collects data from book, journal, online news, publication and other data, organize and analyze them, and then result findings. As a result, this research finds that the dilemmatic relationship between government and individuals or scholars is caused by the mutual distrust and uncommitted actions from both of government and individuals. One the one hand, the government result in distrust in creating proper working environment for scholars. On the other hand, several scholars refused to accept status quo of the working environment in Indonesia due to more promising opportunities abroad
From Global Norms to Local Practices: the Internalization of Children\u27s Rights in Makassar through UNICEF Assistance
Abstract: This study aims to understand how UNICEF, as a foreign aid actor, plays a role in internalizing children\u27s rights norms into local policies and practices in Makassar City. The issue examined stems from the gap between global commitments through the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the reality of child protection at the local level. A qualitative approach with a case study strategy was used, as it is appropriate for exploring complex experiences, perspectives, and social processes. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with members of the Makassar Children\u27s Forum (FAM) and officials from the Makassar City Women\u27s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A); supplemented by participatory observation and analysis of official documents such as mayoral regulations, UNICEF reports, and training modules. The thematic analysis results show that the internalization of children\u27s rights norms occurs through three main channels: technical assistance, policy advocacy, and community capacity building. This process follows the Norm Life Cycle pattern while undergoing adaptation through norm localization mechanisms. FAM acts as a norm translator that connects global values with local culture, such as siri and gotong royong. This study contributes theoretically by expanding the discourse on foreign aid as an instrument for norm diffusion, and practically by emphasizing the importance of local ownership in the sustainability of child protection. The findings suggest the need for stronger cultural translation strategies in child protection policies and programs at the regional level.

Coral Reef Bleaching Crisis: Impacts on Indonesia\u27s Marine Ecosystems and Coastal Economy
Indonesia, as the world’s largest archipelagic state, is home to vast marine biodiversity, particularly coral reefs that support more than 25% of marine species despite covering less than 1% of the ocean floor. However, these vital ecosystems are increasingly threatened by climate-induced stressors such as rising sea surface temperatures and anthropogenic pressures including pollution, destructive fishing practices, and coastal development. The most visible manifestation of this crisis is coral bleaching, which compromises reef health and biodiversity. This study aims to explore the ecological and economic impacts of coral reef bleaching in Indonesia and propose strategic responses for sustainable marine governance. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research draws upon peer-reviewed literature, government reports, and international assessments to analyze the drivers, consequences, and policy implications of coral bleaching. Findings reveal that elevated sea temperatures caused by global warming and phenomena like El Niño have led to mass coral bleaching events, reducing coral cover, disrupting marine food chains, and impairing ecosystem services. Socio-economically, the bleaching crisis has diminished fisheries productivity, reduced marine tourism revenue, and heightened economic vulnerability in coastal communities. Coral reef degradation also weakens natural coastal defenses, increasing exposure to storm damage. The study concludes that integrated policy interventions centered on conservation, community-based management, and climate adaptation are critical for reversing coral decline. Strengthening marine spatial planning, enforcing sustainable fishing regulations, and promoting blue economy principles can help safeguard coral reefs and enhance the resilience of Indonesia’s coastal economy
