On the Derivation and Analysis of a Highly Eccient Method for the Approximation of Quadratic Riccati Equations

    Get PDF
A highly e¢cient method is derived and analyzed in this paper for the approximation of Quadratic Riccati Equations (QREs) using interpolation and collocation procedure. The derivation is carried out within a two-step integration interval. We are motivated to derive a method that approximates QREs (which are nonlinear differential equations that have a great deal of applications in science and engineering). Furthermore, the basic properties of the newly derived method, which include the order of accuracy, convergence, zero-stability, consistence and region of absolute stability were analyzed. The method derived was also applied to solve some QREs and from the results generated, it was clear that the new method performed better than the ones with which we juxtaposed our results with

Application of Navier-Stokes Equation in the Determination of the Velocity Profile of Constitutive Carrier Wave in a Visco-Elastic Blood Circulating System of HIV/AIDS Infected Person

The general understanding of the literature of clinical diseases is that the HIV attacks and feeds on the active cells that make up the human immune system. However, this process is associated with the gradual depletion and weakening of the active cells thereby resulting in a breakdown in the biological performance of the human system. This is a very correct statement but not a unique understanding. There is also a cause (vibration) that gives the HIV its own intrinsic characteristics, activity and existence. It is not the Human system that gives the HIV its life and existence, since the HIV itself is an active living organism and with its own peculiar wave characteristics even before it enters the system of Man. It is the vibration of an unknown force that causes life and existence. Therefore, for any active matter to exist it must possess vibration and vibration produces wave. The human heart stands as a transducer of this vibration. Fortunately, the blood stands as a means of conveying this vibration to all units of the human system. In this work, therefore, we primarily seek to determine the vibratory wave characteristics that are peculiar to both Man and the HIV. The spectrum of the velocity profile conveyed by the constituted carrier wave is characterised by the predominance of the radial velocity and with minimal contribution from the angular velocity. The characteristic spectrum of the velocities shows that within 21 hours after infection with HIV, the biological system of Man must imaginarily recognize and react to the interference of a strange velocity-like body whose influence may be destructive or constructive as the case may be. However, the recuperative inbuilt factor in the human system initially tends to annul this effect and renormalizes the frequency of vibration until it finally goes to zero after a specified time. It is also shown in this work that the radial and the angular velocity are oppositely related

Monte Carlo Based Dose Assessment for 90Y Radioembolization, A Comparison between 99mtc-MAA SPECT/CT and 90Y-Microspheres PET

The aim of this research was to assess the agreement between the distribution of technetium-99m macroaggregated albumin (MAA) and yttrium-90 microspheres in radioembolization of the liver, as well as the correspondence between the desired radiation dose and the true radiation dose in the target area

Modified Natural Polymer Materials for Paper Protection

    Get PDF
Natural polymer materials, such as cellulose, chitosan, starch, are compatible with paper fiber , which can be used for paper reinforcement. However, due to the poor performance of aging, flexibility, adhesion, it needs to be modified. The progress of the modification of some natural materials in paper artifacts protection is introduced.Research and application of some natural materials in paper artifacts protection is summarized. And the development prospects of paper artifacts protection are also discussed

Differentiation Between Natural and Commercial Bee Venoms Using Fluorescence Spectroscopy

    Get PDF
Honey bee venom (HBV, A. m. scutellata) contains polypeptides [melittin, mast cell degranulating peptide (MCD), adolapin and apamin] and enzymes. The aim of the present study was to differentiate between commercial and natural bee venoms using aqueous olive leaf extract (AOLE) employing fluorescence techniques. Tryptophan mainly responsible for the fluorescence and hence widely used as a tool to monitor conformational changes in proteins. Changes in the fluorescence intensities with blue shifts were obtained with bee venoms. Binding of AOLE constituents near the active site of the enzyme could be evidenced and possible modes of interaction are discussed. The fluorescence method used was rapid and sensitive and was able to differentiate between commercial and natural bee venoms utilizing AOLE

Study on properties of epoxy resin and polyurethane modified with organic silicon

    Get PDF
In order to solve the problem of poor compatibility of traditional resins, improve its adhesion, toughness, corrosion, heat resistance, salt spray, and other properties of the coating, the epoxy resin and polyurethane was modified with organic silicon. Some modified methods were introduced and summarized, the prospects for the research development in the future were look forward

Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Antimicrobial Properties of 1-Diphenylmethylpiperazine-1,4-Diium Tetrachloridocuprate

    Get PDF
New organic/inorganic hybrid (C17H22N2)[CuCl4] was elaborated and studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pbca space group. The isolated [CuCl4]2- tetrahedra are slightly distorted building a 0-D anionic framework. The double protonation of the organic cation establish N—H···Cl interactions between organic and inorganic moieties leading to self-organized structure. Infrared, UV-Visible and photoluminescence studies were carried out. The in-vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity of the title salt against several microorganisms were studied. The purity of the material was controlled by Rietveld analysis based on structural investigations and X-ray powder diffraction

Ownership Structure and Organizational Performance: An Investigation of Food and Beverage Companies in Nigeria

    Get PDF
This study examines the influence of ownership structure dimensions on organizational performance with specific reference to Nigerian Food and Beverage Companies. Ex-post facto research design was adopted for this study because Ex-post facto is a methodological verifiable investigation which cannot be manipulated. The population of this study consist of all the companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). The companies listed are classified into twelve industrial sectors, and each sector comprises of homogenous companies.  The sample size of the study was selected based on Nigerian Stock Exchange classification of the listed companies into industrial stratum of homogeneous companies of same or similar characteristics, which the food and beverage industry forms a strata. Purposive sampling technique was used to select sixteen (16) listed food and beverage companies. The data collected for this study were extracted from the audited annual financial reports and accounts of the listed food and beverages companies in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) from 2012-2016. Both Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient and Linear Regression techniques were employed to analyse the data. Result reveals that managerial ownership, institutional ownership, government ownership and family ownership have no significant influence on organizational performance. Result also indicates that foreign ownership has significant influence on organizational performance. Study concluded that foreign ownership structure is strong predictor of organizational performance, while, managerial ownership structure; government ownership structure and family ownership structure are weak predictors of organizational performance. Subsequently, study recommends that the policy that will encourage foreign direct investment in Nigeria should be aggressively pursued by government

Initial Value Problems Between Taylor and Volterra Integral Equations

    Get PDF
In this work, we solve initial value problem for a second order numerically using Euler and Taylor series. On the other hand, we show that after the transformation of the (IVP) into Volterra integral equation of the second kind, its numerical solution using trapezoidal method and modified Simpson method are better than the two first ones Euler and Tayor methods
