Observations critiques sur le manuscrit français 1116 de la Bibliothèque nationale de France
Le manuscrit BnF fr. 1116 (sigle "F"), écrit en franco-italien, commet de nombreuses erreurs lin - guistiques. Plusieurs savants comme Paulin Paris et Giulio Bertoni ont signalé ces vilaines confusions. D’autres, comme C. Th. Gossen, M.-Gr. Capusso, G. Ineichen, A. Barbieri et A. Andreose ont étudié le langage mêlé du texte. En examinant spécialement le Prologue, Ph. Ménard présente ses propres observations. A ses yeux ce manuscrit n’est pas seulement une rédaction hybride, un mélange d’italien et de français. Il révèle une connaissance très imparfaite du français. Il résulte de cette situation une foule de maladresses qui concernent l’emploi du masculin et du féminin, du singulier et du pluriel, les désinences verbales souvent estropiées, les temps confondus, par exemple le présent utilisé à la place du passé ou l’inverse, les verbes coordonnés à tort, alors qu’ils se trouvent à des temps différents. Seule une profonde ignorance du français explique ces emplois aberrants. Si l’on publie le manuscrit tel quel sans corrections, on imprime un texte empli de graves erreurs linguistiques. Si l’on corrige toutes les imperfections, on fait disparaître divers traits franco-italiens. Ph. Ménard propose une nouvelle méthode, à savoir une édition synoptique : d’une part une transcription du manuscrit sans la moindre correction, d’autre part, côte à côte le texte complètement corrigé. Ainsi la lecture du manuscrit ne se trouverait plus gravement perturbée par le désordre du langage.The manuscript BnF fr. 1116 ("F"), written in franco-italian, is marked by numerous linguistic errors. Several scholars like Paulin Paris and Giulio Bertoni highlighted its ugly linguistic peculiarities. Others, as C. Th. Gossen, M.-Gr. Capusso, G. Ineichen, A. Barbieri and A. Andreose, studied its mixed language. Examining especially the Prologue, Ph. Menard presents his own observations. For him the manuscript is not just a hybrid version, a mixture of French and Italian. It reveals a very imperfect knowledge of French. The result of this situation is a host of deformations, which concerns the masculine and the feminine, the singular and the plural, often deformed verbal endings, confused tenses, for example the present used instead of the past, or the opposite, verbs coordinated by mistake when they are at different tenses. Only deep ignorance of French explains theses aberrant uses. If you publish the manuscript without corrections, you publish a text full of linguistic errors. If you corrected all the mistakes, you make the FrancoItalian aspect disappear. Ph. Ménard suggests a new method, a two-part synoptic edition: on the one hand the transcription of the manuscript as it is, without corrections, on the other hand a side by side the completely corrected text. Thus the reading of the manuscript would no longer be seriously disturbed by the disorder of the language
"Guerrin Meschino". La circolazione di un romanzo cavalleresco in area veneta
Il "Guerrin Meschino" di Andrea da Barberino conobbe in area veneta uno straordinario successo. Scopo dell’articolo è ricostruirne la circolazione e le trasformazioni a cui la struttura retorica e narrativa della vulgata fiorentina fu sottoposta nel processo di adattamento a un nuovo pubblico e a un nuovo spazio geografico. La redazione veneta, accolta negli incunaboli e nelle stampe, risulta inoltre centrale per la trasmissione dell’opera oltre i confini italici. Nella prima sezione ci occuperemo della tradizione testuale, quindi dei rapporti tra i testimoni veneti, nella seconda ci soffermeremo sui mutamenti narratologici e retorico-comunicativi. L’ultimo paragrafo è consacrato alle traduzioni spagnola e francese dipendenti dalle stampe venete.Andrea da Barberino’s "Guerrin Meschino" met with extraordinary success in the Veneto area. The purpose of the article is to reconstruct its circulation and the transformations to which the rhetorical and narrative structure of the Florentine vulgate was subjected in the process of adaptation to a new audience and a new geographical space. The Venetian redaction received in incunabula and prints also turns out to be central to the transmission of the work beyond the Italic borders. In the first section we will deal with the textual tradition of the Veneto witnesses, in the second we will focus on narratological and rhetorical-communicative changes. The last paragraph is devoted to the Spanish and French translations dependent on Venetian prints
Gli italianismi nella tradizione del "Devisement dou monde" (sull’interazione fra ecdotica e analisi traduttologica)
Il saggio propone alcune riflessioni sulla pratica medievale della traduzione nel contesto di una tradizione complessa, quella del "Devisement dou monde", analizzando attraverso casi scelti una sua particolare varietà lessicale – gli “italianismi” – nella sua variazione provocata dai processi di trasmissione testuale suggeriti dalla "recensio" della tradizione.The paper proposes some reflections on the medieval practice of translation in the context of a complex textual tradition, that of the "Devisement dou monde", analysing through selected cases one particular lexical variety – the “Italianisms” – in its variation caused by the processes of textual transmission suggested by the tradition’s "recensio"
"Moamin" et "Ghatrif": prolégomènes à une nouvelle édition
This contribution aims to present the preliminary studies for a new edition of the treatises on falconry and cinegetics commonly known as Moamin and Ghatrif. New material discoveries and theoretical acquisitions now make it necessary to critically update the edition. The contribution will focus in particular on the figure of the author of the two treatises, Daniel of Cremona (or Deloc) and on the philological relationship between the two manuscripts bearing the text. The collatio of variants allows us to verify the common descent of codices a and k and, at the same time, the differences that exclude one from being a copy of the other. The last section is devoted to the description of the language of the two witnesses, since the study of a is dated 1945 whilst that of k is practically absent
Cherubini in oltremare: a margine del Salterio tradotto da Pierre de Paris (ms. BnF, Fr. 1761)
Ms. Paris BnF Fr. 1761 contains the translation of the Psalter by Pierre de Paris followed by an anonymous and anepigraphic treatise. This last work appears to be a French translation of the Latin pamphlet De sex alis cherubim (12th c.). The essay shows how the translation of the De sex alis does not constitute a separate section with respect to the Psalter, but how its presence is fully justifiable within the ms. Fr. 1761, as part of a coherent editorial project
La tenzone in sonetti trilingui tra Gidino da Sommacampagna e Francesco di Vannozzo
This study offers an edition with some textual improvements of the trilingual tenson between Gidino da Sommacampagna and Francesco di Vannozzo, within the characteristic vein of the fourteenth-century literature of northern Italy (and Veneto in particular); the same one to which the first known text that uses the French-Latin-Italian trilingualism, the song Aï faus ris attributed to Dante, is probably also connected
La première traduction française des traités d’Albertano de Brescia et le "RIALFrI"
The article explores the different possible components of the lexicon of the first French translation of Albertano da Brescia’s moral treatises, contained in ms. BnF Paris fr. 1142, and highlights the links with other French texts written in Italy and documented in the RIALFrI. Several attestations would allow the backdating of those enregistered by the French and Italian lexicographies
Per la storia del ms. Oxford, Bodleian Library, Canon. Misc. 450
This contribution intends to study the historical background of ms. Oxford Bodleian Library Canon. Misc. 450, starting by a codicological point of view. With regard to micellaneous texts present into the manuscript, attention focuses on the geographical references to Verona, trying to discovering the importance of historical characters active in that area during the fourteen century. Finally, I propose a reconstruction of history of Canonici manuscript, that represent a very important witness for franco-italian roman d’antiquité in Medieval Veneto
Structure and Symbolism in the "Estoire d’Atile en prose"
This essay discusses and analyzes the narrative structure of the Estoire d’Atile en prose and its possible meanings and symbolisms, expanding on the Introduction to the edition of the text. I suggest that the text connects the origin of Venice to the biblical story: as Abraham’s wife, Sarah, fulfilled God’s promise and gave birth to Israel, both as the Promised Land and the Chosen People, Queen Sarah of Padua is the mother of the city of Venice and, metaphorically, of the Venetians, projecting the origin of the city to a higher and allegorical level

This work offers a report on the design experience of a lemmatization interface within the PRODIGI project, whose aim is the complete lexical annotation of Prose 2 text as transmitted by the ms. Grenoble BM 861. The creation of the tool was an opportunity to reflect on the main criticalities and ambiguities of the language, that need to be taken into account when its complexity is sifted through the filter of digital formalism
