Peningkatan Ketahanan Pangan Rumah Tangga Perikanan Berbasis Pangan Lokal “Remis” (Corbicula Sp): Studi Kasus Kota Palembang
Tittle: Improving Household Food Security Based on Local Food “Clams” (Corbicula Sp): A Case Study in Palembang CityPopulations residing along the Musi River in Palembang City rely on fisheries as their primary source of income, but still face relatively high rates of poverty and stunting prevalence, reaching 10.48% (BPS, 2023) and 14.3% (SSGI, 2023), respectively. An effort to reduce the prevalence of stunting is possibly accomplished through increasing the consumption of protein-rich diets. To surmount this difficulty, food sustainability can be improved by increasing the consumption of shellfish as a source of protein. The study employs three methods: literature reviews, surveys, and in-depth interviews. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with 15 people from Kampung Remis, Kelurahan 5 Ulu, Palembang City, South Sumatra, in December 2022. The informants consisted of fishermen, vendors, and members of the community who were purposefully sampled based on age, gender, primary occupation, and level of education; the data was then qualitatively analysed and presented descriptively. Remis as a source of protein for household fishing has several advantages, including simple availability, commercially viable and environmentally friendly cultivation development potential, and high adaptability. Some social, economic, and policy challenges are knowledge and public awareness, price and accessibility, regulations and policies monitoring quality, and food security. Overcoming these challenges will require collaboration between governments, the public, the private sector, and related stakeholders
CHARACTERIZATION OF SPORE-FORMING BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM TILAPIA (OREOCHROMIS NILOTICUS) AND THEIR POTENTIAL FOR A PROBIOTIC CANDIDATE
Gram-positive spore bacteria are widely used as probiotics in general sectors. However, there are still limited bacterial isolates as probiotic candidates available from indigenous isolates, especially in aquaculture. This study aimed to obtain potential spore-forming isolates as probiotic candidate for tilapia. Tilapia fish samples were collected from Sukabumi, Ciamis, Serang, and Papua. Bacterial isolates were isolated from the digestive tract of tilapia. Bacteria were identified based on their morphological, molecular characteristics, complete genome composition, and cell surface identification based on hydrophobic properties. In this study, six bacteria were isolated and identified by molecular characteristics using 16S rRNA sequences. Based on the phylogenetic analysis, the 9 PP isolate was Priestia megaterium basonym: Bacillus megaterium, CMS 16N isolate was Brevibacillus halotolerans, PPN 10 isolate was Bacillus sp., 3.1 SKBM isolate was Bacillus mycoides, CMS 22 N and SRG32 isolate were Bacillus subtilis. Six bacteria had different phenotypicals, ATGC sequence compositions, and a higher proportion of total G~C sequence composition above 50%. The coherent cell surface hydrophobicity test was positive on the SAT, SA, AA, and compact growth patterns in soft-agar media for 9 PP, CMS 22 N, and SRG32 isolates. From our study, the indigenous spore-forming bacteria isolated from tilapia stomachs are enzymatic bacteria, which have a strong attachment to host tissue and high potential as a probiotic candidate for fish. Various hydrophobicity test results from each isolate indicate that the protein composition in the cell surface is different

Data kerapatan mangrove didapat berdasarkan banyaknya individu setiap meter perseginya.
IMPROVING PROFITABILITY OF INTEGRATED RICE-SHRIMP FARMING IN BRACKISH AREA: A CASE STUDY OF MEKONG DELTA, VIETNAM
Rotation between rice and shrimp farming by way of filter ponds and diversification of farm activities was studied with the aims of testing the efficiency of filter ponds and evaluating the combination of incorporating the growing of upland-crops on dikes of rice fields. Three groups of farmers participated in study trials which were the pilot group used a filter pond and applied new methods, the control group had a filter pond and applied the recommended new methods, and the normal practice (control) group not having a filter pond. Results showed that the rice-shrimp farming system using a filter pond improved water quality (pH, alkalinity and salinity) and reduced input costs. Growing upland crops on the dikes had a high financial return; though for both vegetables and the grass for the dairy cows will strongly depend on the market. On one hectare of land, farmers using a filter pond for rice-shrimp farming combined with upland-crops had a higher economic return than the traditional rice-shrimp farming system (2,812 compared with 854 USD/ha/year). However, implementing this model requires farmers to build filter ponds to aid freshwater storage, proper management skills and family labour resources. Diversification of farm activities such as integrated rice-shrimp culture may be a strategy for farmers for adapting to the impacts of climate change such as extreme weather events, less rain and saltwater intrusion
Title: The Potential Apllication of Blue Economy in Supporting Sustainable Tourism in The Coastal Areas of Yogyakarta ProvinceThe condition of coastal areas that are rich in potential is not directly proportional to the level of welfare of the people in coastal areas, and this also happens in the Yogyakarta Province (DIY). Tourism activities are one of the solutions to improve people’s welfare. However, on the other hand, developing marine tourism activities in the DIY coastal area still faces various environmental problems. One concept that can be applied to address problems in coastal areas is the blue economy or Blue Economy (BE), namely the sustainable use of marine resources to improve people’s welfare by optimizing sustainable tourism. This study analyzed the potential for applying BE and strategies for developing sustainable tourism in the DIY coastal area. This research was carried out over five months, from January to May 2023. Data collection used literature reviews and interviews with the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Bappeda and the DIY Tourism Office. The data is then analyzed using BE implementation indicators. The development strategy is analyzed using the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) matrix. The analysis results show that the potential for implementing the blue economy in supporting sustainable tourism in DIY is excellent, but several development strategies are still needed
Prototype Testing of Automatic Vessel Tracking System using Web-Based Visualization
Automatic Tracking System is an example in the development of navigation technology that is needed in every means of transportation by land, water, or air. An example of its application in the field of fisheries management is the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS). The purpose of this study was to develop a telemetry technique particularly automatic vessel tracking system. In this study is expected to produce a prototype which can provide information about the movement of traditional fishing boats, especially in coastal areas. Prototype testing in this study was limited to the performance of a prototype based on the capability of the electronics and the resulting output data. Output data obtained by two methods: (1) the trial was stationary, and (2) mobile test. This study also examined the comparison between tracker prototype with GPS handheld. Mobile tracker marks the position automatically whenever the tool is turned on. The increasing distance between the transmitter unit to the receiver unit, the deviation would be even greater. This tool was sensitive in responding and quickly perform the recording every movement. When compared to handheld GPS, this tool has good accuracy and precision indicated by a 95% confidence interval
