CAPABILITY OF SEA CUCUMBER Holothuria scabra TO REMOVE NITROGEN AND PHOSPHOR WASTE FROM SHRIMP PONDS CULTURE
Solid organic waste (PSW) in shrimp ponds contains relatively high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus and can endanger the ecological balance of the waters. This study evaluates the ability of sea cucumber Holothuria scabra to remove nitrogen and phosphorus loads from shrimp pond sediment waste in water and sediment. Sea cucumbers were reared for 40 days with a density of 20 individuals/m2 (average body weight 2.65±0.09 g) and a double-bottom recirculation system. Five levels of PSW accumulation were inserted into the aquarium substrate and were the sole source of nutrition for sea cucumbers without additional feeding: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% (with three replications). The results showed that increasing the PSW content in the aquarium research substrate significantly increased the substrate's TOC, TN, and TP content and increased the concentrations of TOM, DOC, NH3, NO2, and PO4 in the water column. The activity of sea cucumbers in utilizing PSW nutrients in all treatments up to a PSW level of 50% significantly reduced TOC, TN, and TP in sediments. This activity also substantially removes the concentration of TOM, DOC, NH3, NO2, and PO4 in the water. It is estimated that every kilogram of H. scabra can remove up to 12.65-12.73 g of nitrogen/day and 2.57-2.60 g of phosphorus/day contained in the solid organic waste of shrimp ponds. Therefore, this study concluded that H. scabra has great potential to be used as integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) species, especially to remove nitrogen and phosphorus loads from shrimp pond sediment waste in waters
SIMULTANEOUS PATHOGEN DETECTION OF SHRIMP VIRUSES ON CULTURED TIGER SHRIMPS (Penaeus monodon) IN INDONESIA
The multiple-pathogen infection causes severe economic impact to shrimp industry in Indonesia and worldwide due to mass mortality and multiple abnormalities of the survived infected shrimps. However, multiple-pathogen detection tools in shrimp diseases have not yet widely used. The purpose in this study was to develop and applied simultaneous detection system using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay from natural infections caused by white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), infectious hypodermal and haematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) and monodon baculovirus (MBV) in Black tiger shrimp culture. To analyze multiple-pathogen infections in the shrimp, the study designed and used three pairs of specific primers targeting DNA virus from the shrimp diseases. All amplifications used a specific master mix for multiplex PCR assay and standardized extracted nucleic acid from the samples. This mPCR assay successfully amplified the DNA of three viruses in a single tube-run by multiplex PCR for each virus. Based on the results, the study confirms that multiple-pathogen infection contributes the highest mass mortality rather than from single infection by either WSSV, IHHNV or MBV. This study also confirms that the mPCR assay is a faster, cheaper, and efficient method to detect and subsequently prevent the spreading of multi-pathogen shrimp diseases
Analisis Keberhasilan Pengelolaan Hutan Mangrove: Kasus Rehabilitasi dan Konservasi oleh Komunitas Peduli Pesisir
Kelompok peduli pesisir memiliki peranan penting dalam rehabilitasi dan perlindungan hutan mangrove, khususnya berkaitan dengan upaya menumbuhkan aspek kelembagaannya. Studi ini bertujuan menganalisis kinerja kelembagaan, peran stakeholders, dan hak pemilikan hutan yang mungkin diwujudkan setelah rehabilitasi mangrove dianggap berhasil, serta untuk mendeskripsikan beberapa dimensi pentingnya sebagai model pengelolaan hutan mangrove. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan September 2021 hingga Agustus 2022 di Kelurahan Setapuk Besar- Kota Singkawang, Kalimantan Barat, melalui suatu metode campuran: kuantitatif-kualitatif. Data kuantitatif dikumpulkan dari 78 responden warga komunitas pesisir dengan cara wawancara terstruktur, sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap informan kunci. Analisis data kuantitatif mengenai kinerja kelembagaan diukur dari proporsi warga yang mengetahui terhadap aturan utama perlindungan hutan mangrove, sedangkan secara kualitatif dilihat dari partisipasi anggota kelompok dalam rutinitas kegiatan rehabilitasi dan konservasinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem kelembagaan telah berfungsi dengan baik, buktinya sekitar 90 persen warga pesisir mengetahui aturan perlindungan hutan mangrove di komunitasnya. Selain itu partisipasi anggota kelompok dalam aksi rehabilitasi atau konservasi melalui inisiatif kelompok merupakan faktor kunci keberhasilan. Dimensi penting dalam menjaga keberlanjutan konservasi mangrove di sekitar kota pesisir adalah melalui pemeliharaan kelembagaan lokal dan penumbuhan ekowisata. Tittle: Analysis of the Success of Mangrove Forest Management: A Case Study on Rehabilitation and Conservation by the Coastal Care CommunityCoastal care groups have an essential role in rehabilitating and protecting mangrove forests, particularly concerning efforts to grow their institutional aspects. This study aims to analyse the institutional performance, stakeholder roles, and forest property rights that may be realized after the success of mangrove rehabilitations, and to describe some of its essential dimensions as a model for mangrove forest management. This study was conducted in September 2021 until August 2022 in Setapuk Besar-Singkawang city, West Kalimantan, through a mixed methods: quantitative-qualitative. Quantitative data were collected from 78 respondents of the coastal communities using structured interviews, while qualitative data was gotten through in-depth interviews with the key informants. Quantitative data analysis, concerning the institutional performance is measured by the proportion of residents who know the main rules for protecting mangrove forests, while qualitatively it is seen from the participation of group members’ in their routine rehabilitation and conservation activities. The results showed that the institutional system has functioned well, as evidenced is around 90 percent of the coasta residents knowing precisely the rules for protecting the mangrove forest in their community. Besides, the group members’ participation in rehabilitation or conservation actions through group initiatives is the key to success. An important dimension in maintaining the sustainability of mangrove conservation around coastal cities is through the maintenance of local institutions and the growth of ecotourism
Occupational Health and Safety Risks in the Shipbuilding Industry, Case Study at PT Blambangan Bahari Shipyard
The shipbuilding industry is a useful place for producing or even repairing ships. PT Blambangan Bahari Shipyard in this study is one of the shipbuilding industries which is a shipbuilding company and shipping consultant. Occupational safety in every workplace, including in the ship production sector, needs to be considered to reduce the risk of work accidents as low as possible. This research aims to identify the types of hazards or analyze risks in shipbuilding activities with case studies at PT. Blambangan Bahari Shipyard. This study uses a quantitative approach with a criterion scale to analyze data from interviews and risk observations at each stage of shipbuilding. Then the data were analyzed using the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method. The results of the risk analysis of the shipbuilding process show that the stages of mold making, mold coating, gel coat and lamination have a high-risk level. This is because, at this stage, many workers use tools that are quite dangerous for them. In addition, the risk analysis results show that the shipbuilding process has a high level of risk in terms of work safety. The high risks experienced by workers are exposure to electric drills, electric shock, eye pain, skin irritation, respiratory problems, and bronchitis
UTILIZATION OF MACKAREL TUNA IN LIQUID ORGANIC FERTILIZER AGAINST PHOSPHORUS AND CALCIUM CONTENT
Mackarel tuna is one of the fish that is quite abundant in Banyuwangi, its existence in the Java and Bali seas is found throughout the month, therefore the use of mackerel tuna fish into processed food products is often made by the community. In addition to being a valuable product, mackerel tuna fish bones can be processed into other products that are useful in agriculture, namely organic liquid fertilizer. This study was conducted on a laboratory scale with four different treatments (length of fermentation time) including 5, 10, 15, and 20 days, where each treatment was repeated 4 times. The purpose of the study was to find out the best phosphorus and calcium content from four different treatments. The results of the study found that the best fermentation period of liquid organic fertilizer was on the 20th day of fermentation with a value of phosphorus (P) content of 0.091%, calcium (Ca) of 0.377%
IDENTIFIKASI MANAJEMEN USAHA BUDIDAYA PEMBESARAN IKAN LELE SANGKURIANG (Clarias gariepinus) DI DESA MEKARGALIH KECAMATAN CIRANJANG KABUPATEN CIANJUR, PROVINSI JAWA BARAT
Unit usaha pembesaran ikan lele sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus) milik Bapak Budi berlokasi di Desa Mekargalih Kecamatan Ciranjang Kabupaten Cianjur Provinsi Jawa Barat. Usaha tersebut berdiri pada Desember 2020 dengan luas lahan 2.100 . Keberlangsungan usaha budidaya pembesaran ikan dapat diukur dengan manajemen usaha. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis manajemen usaha, teknik pembesaran ikan lele sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus) dan analisa usahanya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah analisis deskriptif, dengan perhitungan analisa usaha menggunakan biaya produksi, penerimaan, keuntungan, Break Event Point (BEP), Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C ratio), Payback Period (PP), dan Return on Investment (ROI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan usaha budidaya pembesaran ikan lele sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus) dilakukan secara semi intensif dengan menerapkan sistem budidaya yang terkontrol. Pembesaran ikan lele sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus) layak untuk dijalankan, dengan nilai R/C ratio 1,71. Titik impas dari penjualan ikan lele sangkuriang memiliki BEP(Rp) Rp 7.501.098,- dan BEP(unit) sebanyak 906 kg. Biaya produksi sebanyak Rp 46.756.944,- dengan jumlah pendapatan sebanyak Rp 80.325.000,- sehingga mendapatkan keuntungan per siklus Rp 33.568.056,-Budi's sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) rearing business unit is located in Mekargalih Village, Ciranjang District, Cianjur Regency, West Java Province. The business was established in December 2020 with a land area of 2,100 m^2. The sustainability of fish farming business can be measured by business management. The research aims to analyze business management, production processes and business analysis. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis, with business analysis calculations using production costs, revenues, profits, Break Event Point (BEP), Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C ratio), Payback Period (PP), and Return on Investment (ROI). ). The results showed that the growing cultivation of sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) was carried out in a semi-intensive manner by applying a controlled cultivation system. Enlargement of sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is feasible, with an R/C ratio of 1.71. The breakeven point from the sale of sangkuriang catfish has a BEP(Rp) of IDR 7,501,098 and a BEP(unit) of 906 kg. INCREASING CONSUMER LOYALTY THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF RELATIONSHIP MARKETING AND PERCEIVED QUALITY
The aim of this research is to conduct an analysis of the influence of relationship marketing and perceived quality on increasing consumer loyalty at one of the frozen shrimp processing companies located in East Java. Based on the results of data analysis that has been carried out on the first hypothesis (H1) which states that relationship marketing has a positive and significant effect on increasing consumer loyalty, the calculated t value is 17,163, which is greater than the t table value, which is 1,661, the results of the calculation analysis of the second hypothesis (H2) which states that perceived quality has a positive and significant effect on increasing customer loyalty, obtained a calculated t value of 6,597 which is greater than the t table value of 1,661, which means that relationship marketing and perceived quality have a positive and significant effect on increasing customer loyalty, while the R-square value obtained was 0.809, which stated that the relationship marketing and perceived quality variables had an effect on increasing customer loyalty by 80.90% and the remaining 19.10% was influenced by other variables
Logistics Cost Analysis of Catfish in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia: Internal and External of Logistics Component Costing Systems
Catfish are the most popular cultivated fish in special region of yogyakarta in special region of yogyakarta especially Sleman, Kulon Progo, and Bantul District. These products are categorized as high perishable product so need a special handling to keep the quality from fish farmers to the customers. The aims of this study are to identify and calculate the logistics cost component that needed to keep the quality along the supply chain of catfish. There are three types of data collection methods used, namely observation, in- depth interview, and literature review. The analysis includes descriptive analysis, logistics cost components using ABC, and cost charging systems. Furthermore, it can be known the proportion of each logistics cost component of catfish. This study shows that there are six component of catfish logistics cost, i.e. procurement, material handling, transportation, maintenance, inventory, and customer communication. It also shows that the highest logistics cost component averaged proportion is, 76.421%, material handling
