PEMANFAATAN MINYAK CENGKEH SEBAGAI BAHAN ANESTESI UNTUK TRANSPORTASI IKAN TAMBAKAN (Helostoma temminckii)

    Get PDF
Clove oil has been widely used by farmers as an anesthetic agent in fish transportation. However, its use on several fish with different densities indicates the need for different doses. The aim of this study was to determine the dose of clove oil as an anesthetic agent for kissing gourami (Helostoma temminckii) and to determine the effect of administering clove oil on the transportation of kissing gourami. This study compared transportation conditions using clove oil and without clove oil (control) with different densities. The densities used were 10, 12, and 14 L-1. The kissing gourami used measured 15 ± 0.5 cm. This study was divided into two stages consisting of determining the effective concentration-100 10 minutes (EC100 10 min) and the effect of clove oil on density during 12 hours of transportation. The results showed that EC100 10 min value was 0.026 mL L-1. Immediately after transportation, survival rates and oxygen consumption levels were not significantly different between treatments and control at different densities. However, blood glucose levels of 10 fish L-1 and 12 fish L-1 were lower than the control. Fish health status monitoring after 7 days post-transportation showed that there was no significant difference between control and treatment in terms of survival rate or blood glucose levels. Therefore, the use of clove oil at a dose of 0.026 mL L-1 for the transportation of kissing gourami can be applied at a density of 14 fish L-1 for 12 hours. Further studies are required to determine the effects of clove oil as an anesthetic agent applied at denser stocking densities and longer transportation period of kissing gourami seeds

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
Surimi is Japanese, meaning crushed meat. To encourage fish consumption, products made from processed surimi are made more varied and interesting, such as fish dumplings. This research aimed to determine the differences in the sensory characteristics of surimi from different raw materials (swangi fish, kurisi fish, and kuniran fish). Apart from that, we also want to know the organoleptic and hedonic test results of fish dumplings made from different surimi raw materials. The surimi testing method includes an appearance test, folding test, and bite test on three different types of surimi (SU1 = kurisi fish, SU2 = swangi fish, SU3 = kuniran fish). Organoleptic and hedonic test methods for fish dumplings include appearance, smell, taste, and texture. The research results showed that there was a significant difference in the physical test of surimi (fold and bite test), while in the appearance test, there was no real difference. The surimi organoleptic test showed that there was no difference in smell and taste, while there were different results in appearance and texture parameters. The results of the hedonic test showed that panelists preferred sample SU1 on appearance and smell parameters, SU2 was preferred on taste parameters, and SU3 was superior on texture parameters

FACTORS AFFECTING THE INCOME OF FISHERMEN OF SERAYA ISLAND BATAM CITY IN THE SPAWNING SEASON OF DINGKIS (Siganus sp.)

    Get PDF
One of the fish commodities that has great potential to be utilized by the fishermen of Seraya Island is Dingkis (Siganus sp.). During the spawning season, Dingkis experience a high price increase of 5 times the price during the non-spawning season, namely IDR 30,000-60,000/kg. Therefore, Seraya Island fishermen take advantage of this opportunity because Dingkis fish only spawn during a certain season, namely January-February, which coincides with Chinese New Year (Imlek). The aim of the research is to determine the income of Seraya Island fishermen during the Dingkis spawning season and the influence of the price of Dingkis, the number of Dingkis fish caught, and the number of other fish catches on the income of Seraya Island fishermen. The research was conducted on Seraya Island, Batu Legong Village, Bulang District, Batam City in February 2023. Data analysis was used to answer the first objective, namely by calculating income, the second objective was to test the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable using SPSS type 26 software. The research results show that the average income of Seraya Island fishermen during the Dingkis spawning season is IDR 9,001,143/month. Partial test results on the number of catches of Dingkis fish have an effect on the income of Seraya Island fishermen. The price of Dingkis fish and the number of other fish caught have no influence on the income of Seraya Island fishermen

    Get PDF
The presence of plankton is very important for aquatic ecosystems. Kalianda Coastal Beach has direct access to the open sea. Its water condition can experience changes including physical, chemical, and biological conditions. Moreover, the beaches in the Kalianda coastal area are widely used for vannamei shrimp breeding, ferry port, fishery and trade port. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the structure of the plankton community, including abundance and species composition, diversity index, uniformity, and dominance. This study used data from water sources in three vannamei shrimp nurseries located in Kalianda Coastal Beach, South Lampung. Water parameters observed in Kalianda Coastal were plankton, salinity, pH, nitrate, ammonia, dissolved solids (TSS), and phosphate. The results showed that the plankton found in Kalianda coastal area consisted of four classes, phytoplankton namely Bacillariophyceae (78.75%) and Dynophyceae (9.85%), zooplankton Ciliata (7.79%) and Crustacea (3.61%). The range of phytoplankton abundance is 2392-3029 cells/l, while the abundance of zooplankton is 279-414 ind/l. Plankton diversity and uniformity indices are high meaning that the plankton community in Kalianda Coast is very diverse and stable, low dominance means that there are plankton that dominate, namely from the Bacillariophyceae class. The structure of the plankton community in Kalianda Coastal Beach shows a stable condition at the time of the research. To know the plankton community structure more thoroughly, it is necessary to take plankton samples every season with more station points

Temporal Dynamics of Phytoplankton in Retention Pond as a Water Source for Striped Catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) Farming

    Get PDF
This comprehensive study investigates the temporal dynamics and ecological aspects of phytoplankton communities in water reservoirs utilized for Pangasius cultivation. Over a six-week observation period, 25 phytoplankton species, including Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, and Cryptophyceae, were identified. Chlorophyceae displayed the highest species richness, emphasizing the dominance of this group, particularly Chlorella, which remained stable throughout weekly observations. Other taxa, such as Euglenophyceae, exhibited delayed increases in density. The study revealed two crucial groups in the water reservoir: the first, composed of Actinastrum sp., Closterium sp., Staurastrum sp. (Chlorophyceae), Navicula sp., Pleurosigma sp., Schroedaria sp., Surirella sp. (Bacillariophyceae), and the second, more diverse group consisting of Nitzschia sp. (Bacillariophyceae), Cryptomonas sp. (Cryptophyceae), Trachelomonas sp. (Euglenophyceae), Anabaena sp., Merismopedia sp., Phormidium sp. (Cyanophyceae), Ankistrodesmus sp., Chlorella sp., and Crucigenia sp. (Chlorophyceae). Chlorella was consistently present which was observed to interact with various species, fostering a balanced environment for growth and reproduction within its family and across others based on network analysis. Contradictory dynamics emerge in the initial weeks, where the highest species richness (N = 19 species) coincides with a high dominance index (1/D = 0.54). Conversely, the peak diversity index (H’ = 2.04) occurs during the second observation, aligning with a comparable evenness index (J = 0.89). The saprobic index indicates a shift in pollution levels from β-mesosaprobic to α/β-mesosaprobic between the initial and final weeks of observation. Simultaneously, trophic-saprobic index alterations signify an environmental quality transition from polysaprobic to oligosaprobic. This presents contradictory trends, where, based on species richness, the environment is ecologically classified as polluted. However, considering the contribution of non-indicator groups in the formula, the pond conditions shift towards nutrient impoverishment, suggesting potential suitability for aquaculture practices
