The use of artificial feed (pellets) is the highest-cost component in barramundi farming. Providing fresh, cheap feed can significantly reduce feed costs. The study aimed to evaluate the growth performance of barramundi fed with different feeding ratios of fresh sardine. The experiment was conducted from June to July 2022 in floating net cages located in Teluk Air Village, Bulang District, Batam. The experimental units were arranged in a completely randomized design consisting of four treatments and three replications. The feeding treatments were using pelleted artificial feed at 5% (treatment A, control), and fresh sardine at 5% (treatment B), 10% (treatment C), and 15% (treatment D) of the total cultured fish biomass. Growth performance data were analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with the Duncan’s test. The experimental results showed that treatment B had resulted in significant differences in the absolute weight growth, daily growth rate, feed efficiency, and feed conversion (p<0.05) compared to other treatments. The values of final weight gain (56.97 g), daily growth (0.95 g day-1), and survival rate (93.33%) were higher compared to the control, while feed conversion (2.58) was lower than those of C and D treatments. This research concludes that feeding fresh sardine at 5% feeding ratio yields the best growth performance and feed conversion ratio of cultured barramundi
USED OF FISHING TOOLS AND FISHING AID IN KENDARI OCEAN FISHERY PORT
Fishing Gear is equipment used by fishermen to catch fish and other marine animals. The operation of the fishing gear itself is not always alone, some fishermen use fishing aids to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of fishing activities. Some types of Fishing aids commonly used by fishermen are lamps and fish aggregating devices (FADs) used to collect fish and power blocks/axles, or line haulers used by fishermen to facilitate the operation of the fishing gear. This study aims to find out what fishing gear and fishing aids are in Kendari and analyze their compliance with existing regulations. The research activities were carried out for 2 months, namely from November to December 2023 at the Kendari Fisheries Port. The type of data collected is qualitative data including construction data from each API in Kendari through direct observation. The data collected is then analyzed descriptively. Based on the data obtained, the types of Fishing Gear used by vessels based at the Kendari PPS are 5 (five) fishing gears, consisting of Tuna Hand Line, Huhate, Purse Seine, Hand Line, Squid Fishing. This fishing gear is an active fishing gear. Fishing aids used by fishermen at PPS Kendari include LED lights, Pakurung and fish aggregating devices. DISTRIBUTION OF MOLUSC TYPES (Gastropoda and Bivalves) IN SEAMUS IN THE WATERS OF TANJUNG SALEH VILLAGE, MOROTAI ISLAND DISTRICT
The vast seagrass field allows the number of biota that live associated with seagrass. One of the wealth of marine resources that is often found is mollusks such as snails, shellfish, octopus, cuttlefish and squid. Mollusks are found in coastal areas with seagrass beds as their habitat. One of the most commonly found mollusk groups in Bere Bere village waters is gastropod and bivalvia. Research Objectives To determine the distribution of mollusks in the waters of Bere-Bere Village. This study was conducted in October 2021 to January 2022 located in the waters of Bere-Bere Village, North Morotai District, Morotai Island Regency. Data collection uses the quadratic transect method to identify mollusks (gastropods and bivalvia) that are found in each square. The transect rope is pulled perpendicular to the sea along 50 m during the receding sea water starting from the zero point (0), to the point of 50 m, the square distance is 10 m while the transect distance is 25 m, while the distance between the station is 50 m, then the square is placed on Every distance of 10 m along the transect that can represent the locations that have gastropod and bivalvia samples. Organism found along the transect, in the squares observed and then identified using an identification book. Field work practices were found 11 types of gastropods (Conus Gladiator, Conus Littyus, Trochidae sp, Cerithiidae sp, Canarium sp, Muricodrupa fenestrata, Vexillum sp, Strombus Campbelli, Strombus Campbell , Conus Episcopatus, Conus Sulcatus, Conus Pennaceus) and 3 types of Bivalvia (Lambis Lambis, Pinna Muricata, Diloma Radula) which are spread on three stations in the waters of Bere-Bere Village
THE DETERMINATION OF THE DEPTH OF TPI PALANG’S HARBOUR BASIN TUBAN THROUGH CALCULATION OF TIDE COMPONENT
Determination of the datum chart using the tide component can be used to determine the depth of the harbour basin. TPI Palang's harbour basin is often used as a place for mooring fishing boats, but it often happens that the ships get stuck before entering the haarbour basin. The type of fishing ship at the TPI Palang harbour basin is a payang boat with a draft depth of 2 m. The depth of the harbour basin measurement results in July 2017 was 8 m, while based on the bathymetric map is 12 m. Palang waters, in Tuban Regency is located in the North Sea of East Java, which is open water type, therefore the determination of the depth of the harbour basin is based on the state of the water, is 1.2 x ship draft, which is 2.4 m. The least square and the admiralty method were used to compare the best method in calculating the tidal component. Researchers used tidal data for August 2016- July 2017 obtained from BIG. The tidal type of the Palang waters is diurnal, with an F value for admiralty treatment of 5,160 with least square processing of 5,167. The correlation coefficient of the tidal component with admiralty processing occurs in K1-MS4 of 0.792, while the least square occurs in K1-M4 of 1.6. The result of the calculation of the tidal component of the least square is used to determine the value of the datum chart. The IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) datum chart is used as a basic reference for calculating the depth of the TPI Palang harbour basin. The results show that the required depth of Palang waters in the existing condition (8 m) still requires dredging between 0.033 - 1.071 m. However, to meet the standard of the harbour basin, the required depth is 13,071 m (from LWS) to 13,557 m (from LLWS) which means that the dredging of the harbour basin is about ± 4 m
PENINGKATAN PERTUMBUHAN MIKROALGA Chaetoceros ceratosporum DAN Nannochloropsis oculata MENGGUNAKAN STRAIN BAKTERI TERSELEKSI PADA KULTUR SKALA TERKONTROL
The intensification of fish and shrimp seed production is necessitated to support the ever growing global aquaculture production. One of the problems faced by most hatcheries is the unavailability of high quality and stable supply of live feed (microalgae) required during larval rearing. Efforts to increase microalgae production through a coexistence relationship approach and promoting growth by utilizing the role of beneficial bacteria need to be carried out. The aims of this study were to obtain and determine the effectiveness of selected bacterial strains that have the ability to stimulate microalgae growth in controlled culture environments. In this study, the microalgae Chaetoceros ceratosporum and Nannochloropsis oculata were used. Bacteria associated in the culture were isolated, screened, tested for enzymatic synthesis activity, characterization, identification, culture, and re-inoculation on microalgal cultures. The results obtained were seven bacterial isolates from C. ceratosporum and eight isolates from N. oculata. The results of the enzymatic synthesis activity test showed that there was only one strain (code CC-22) in C. ceratosporum and two strains in N. oculata (codes NN-5 and NN-6) which potentially showed a role in stimulating microalgae growth. With a molecular characterization approach using 16SrRNA, Marinobacter vinifirmus CC22, Alteromonas sp. NN-5, and Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclastic NN-6. From the three isolated bacterial strains, it appeared that only Marinobacter vinifirmus CC22 and Alteromonas sp. NN-5 had the property of being able to stimulate the growth of C. ceratosporum by 1.76 times (176%) and N. oculata by 1.56 times (156%) compared to the control. These two bacterial strains showed the potential to increase the quantity and quality of microalgae and had the opportunity to act as probiotic agents to stimulate the growth of C. ceratosporum and N. oculata
