STRATEGY TO IMPROVE INCOME OF FISHERMEN IN SULAMU VILLAGE, KUPANG REGENCY, NUSA TENGGARA TIMUR PROVINCE
Sulamu Village is one of the villages in Kupang Regency that makes fishing activities the main livelihood of the community. Fishing efforts by the community do not have a significant impact on history, which is reflected in income. The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of business, profitability and strategies to increase the income of capture fishermen. The data analysis method, namely business feasibility analysis using Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C) and Payback period (PP) analysis, business profitability analysis and SWOT analysis. The results of the analysis are that the fishing business of fishermen in Sulamu Village is profitable and feasible. This can be seen from the R/C value of each fishing gear used, which is all >1, while the payback period (PP) is >3 while the ROI is obtained with a value >1. The analysis of IFAS and EFAS is a grand strategy located in the position of growth-oriented strategy, which is a strategy that supports aggressive growth policies. The strategy implemented is to empower fishermen to actively care for the sea and SDI in the Sawu Sea, facilitate the reach of fishermen's access to capital, and fulfil infrastructure to support fishermen's activities
Lama Waktu Tingkat Kematangan Gonad Udang Vanamei melalui Ablasi dan Non-Ablasi
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat perbedaan lama waktu pematangan gonad dari udang vaname yang di ablasi dan tidak di ablasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di instalasi Pembenihan Udang di Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau (BPBAP) Situbondo, Jawa Timur. Karakteristik induk udang yang baik adalah udang jantan dan betina memiliki karakteristik reproduksi yang sangat bagus. Spermatofora jantan berkembang baik dan berwarna putih mutiara dan udang betina matang secara seksual dan menunjukkan perkembangan ovarium yang alami. Induk berasal hasil pemuliaan Multipication Broodstock Center (MBC) dengan bobot tubuh sebesar 30-35 g (jantan) dan 40-45 g (betina). Induk diberikan kombinasi tiga jenis pakan selama masa pemeliharaan dengan frekuensi pemberian 4 kali sehari sebesar 40% dari biomassa yakni pukul 07.00, 11.00, 15.00 dan 19.00. Proses ablasi dilakukan pada pagi hari. Proses ablasi yang dilakukan adalah dengan cara memegang induk betina secara perlahan-lahan dan hati-hati sehingga udang tidak merontaronta dengan cara melipat ekor udang ke arah dalam secara perlahan. Lalu setelah itu dilakukan pemotongan tangkai mata menggunakan gunting arteri yang telah dipanaskan. Pemotongan tangkai mata dapat dilakukan pada bagian kanan ataupun kiri sesuai kondisi mata induk. Setelah di ablasi, induk udang diamati tingkat kematian untuk meyakinkan ketersediaan induk yang akan digunakan untuk pengamatan tingkat kematangan gonad. Tingkat kematangan gonad udang vaname menunjukkan ada perbedaan pada lama hari inkubasi untuk perlakuan ablasi dan non-ablasi. Periode waktu untuk perkembangan TKG udang yang di ablasi antara 0-12 hari sedangkan 0-22 hari untuk yang tidak di ablasi.This study was conducted to see the time difference in the gonad maturation time period of ablated and non-ablated Vaname shrimp. This study was conducted at the Shrimp Hatchery Instalansi at the Brackish Water Aquaculture Center (BPBAP) Situbondo, East Java. The broodstock originated from the Multipication Broodstock Center (MBC), where they were bred for body weights of 30-35 g for males and 40-45 g for females. During the rearing period, the broodstock received a combination of three types of feed four times a day at 40% of biomass, at 07:00, 11:00, 15:00, and 19:00. We carried out the ablation process in the morning. We perform the ablation process by gently folding the shrimp's tail inward and holding the female parent slowly and carefully to prevent it from struggling. Next, use heated artery scissors to cut the eye stalk. Depending on the condition of the parent's eye, you can cut the eye stalk on either the right or left side. We observed the mortality of shrimp broodstock after ablation to ensure its availability for gonadal maturity observations. The difference in the number of days needed for ablation and non-ablation treatments was seen in the vanamei shrimp's gonadal maturity level. The time period for the development of TKG in ablated shrimp is between 0 and 12 days, while 0 and 22 days for non-ablated shrimp
KEBERADAAN Vibrio spp. PADA IKAN KERAPU CANTANG Epinephelus sp. DI KJA PERAIRAN KEPULAUAN SERIBU
Analisis keberadaan Vibrio spp. pada lingkungan budidaya sangat penting diketahui. Hal tersebut berkaitan dengan prinsip-prinsip biosecurity yang ketat untuk memastikan kesehatan ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bakteri Vibrio spp. ikan kerapu cantang di Keramba Jaring Apung (KJA) perairan Pulau Kelapa Dua. Jumlah ikan sampel sebanyak 10 ekor terdiri dari 5 ekor ikan kerapu cantang dan 5 ekor ikan liar. Media agar Sea Water complete (SWC) digunakan sebagai media pengamatan total bacteria count, sedangkan media agar Tiosulfat Citrate Bile-Salt Sucrose (TCBS) digunakan sebagai media pengamatan parameter total Vibrio count, sampel organ hati dan ginjal diinkubasi pada suhu 28ºC selama 24 jam. Identifikasi jenis Vibrio spp. dengan uji biokimia dan uji KIT API 20 NE secara deskriptif. Jenis-jenis bakteri Vibrio spp. yang ditemukan terdeteksi tiga jenis bakteri, yaitu Vibrio vulnificus, V. alginolyticus dan V. parahaemolyticus. Histopatologi organ hati mengalami perubahan pada sel necrosis dan vacuolasi sedangkan ginjal mengalami kongesti pada leukocyte infiltration; necrosis; tubular cells. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah keberadaan bakteri Vibrio spp. terdapat pada ikan liar dan kerapu cantang yang mengindikasikan terjadinya transmisi patogen dari ikan liar ke ikan budidaya atau sebaliknya, sedangkan histologi pada organ hati terjadi perubahan pada sel necrosis dan vacuolasi sedangkan ginjal mengalami kongesti pada leukocyte infiltration; necrosis; tubular cells.Analysis of the presence of Vibrio spp. in the cultivation environment is very important to know. This is related to strict biosecurity principles to ensure fish health. This study aims to identify Vibrio spp.—bacteria in hybrid groups in KJA in the waters of Kelapa Dua Island. The number of sample fish was 10, consisting of 5 hybrid groupers and 5 wild fish. Sea Water Complete (SWC) agar media was used as a medium for observing total bacteria count, while Thiosulfate Citrate Bile-Salt Sucrose (TCBS) agar media was used as a medium for observing total Vibrio count parameters. Liver and kidney organ samples were incubated at 28 C for 24 hours. Identification of Vibrio spp. types with biochemical tests and KIT API 20 NE tests descriptively. Vibrio spp. bacteria were detected as three types of bacteria, namely Vibrio vulnificus, V. alginolyticus, and V. parahaemolyticus. Histopathology of the liver organ experienced changes in necrosis and vacuolation cells while the kidneys experienced congestion in leukocyte infiltration, necrosis, and tubular cells. The conclusion of this study is the presence of Vibrio spp. bacteria in wild fish and hybrid grouper, which indicates the transmission of pathogens from wild fish to farmed fish or vice versa, while histology of the liver organ experienced changes in necrosis and vacuolation cells, while the kidneys experienced congestion in leukocyte infiltration, necrosis, and tubular cells
Review of A Conceptual Framework for Designing and Building Fisheries Co-management
There has been growing consensus in fisheries management literature that fisheries can only be managed successfully with the power-sharing and partnership of fishers. The objective of this review is to focus on examining the current global literature on fisheries co-management. The review findings lead to the conclusion that various forms of fisheries co-management exist in many countries and have different organizational forms in different fishery settings. The review has identified six principles that should be applied in designing proper fisheries co-management: subsidiarity, conflict and power, property rights, representation and knowledge, community institution building and management functions.
SUPLEMENTASI L-KARNITIN DAN KAYU MANIS PADA PAKAN TERHADAP PENURUNAN LEMAK DAN TEKSTUR FILET IKAN PATIN Pangasianodon hypophthalmus PADA FASE PEMBESARAN
upaya untuk mengurangi kadar lemak tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi suplementasi L-karnitin dan tepung kayu manis terhadap kadar lemak dan tekstur daging ikan patin pada fase pembesaran. Ikan patin berukuran 125,4 ± 7,85 g dan panjang 24,71±0,68 cm dipelihara selama 60 hari dalam wadah hapa berukuran 2 x 1 x 1 m3. Ikan diberi pakan tiga kali sehari ad satiation dengan perlakuan, sebagai berikut: kontrol (K), penambahan L-karnitin 1 g kg-1 (LK 1), L-karnitin 2 g kg-1 (LK 2), kayu manis 5 g kg-1 (KM 5), dan kayu manis 10 g kg-1 (KM 10). Sampel diambil pada awal, pertengahan, dan akhir pemeliharaan untuk pengukuran kadar lemak daging. Parameter yang diamati yaitu lemak daging dan tekstur daging. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberian KM 10 menghasilkan kadar lemak yang lebih rendah dari perlakuan lainnya setelah 30 hari dan penurunan yang lebih besar yaitu berkisar 51,06% dan 42,55% pada perlakuan LK 2 dan KM 10 pada hari ke-60. Nilai indeks hepatosomatik juga menurun yang diikuti oleh penurunan kadar lemak hati. Nilai kekerasan daging menunjukkan peningkatan kualitas yang terlihat dari nilai yang semakin rendah. Pemberian tepung kayu manis 10 g kg-1 pada fase pembesaran menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada pemberian selama 60 hari dalam menurunkan lemak daging ikan patin hingga memenuhi standar filet, karena adanya proses lipolisis serta pemanfaatan lemak menjadi energi. Kayu manis ini menjadi sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan sebagai feed additive dalam upaya memperbaiki kualitas daging ikan patin fase pembesaran.Striped catfish meat has a high-fat content which is undesirable to markets and customers alike and needs to be reduced. This study aims to evaluate the effect of dietary L-carnitine and cinnamon powder on reducing the fat content of striped catfish meat in the grow-out stage. Striped catfish measuring 125.4 ± 7.85 g and 24.71 ± 0.68 cm body length were kept for 60 days in a hapa with size 2 x 1 x 1 m3. Thefish were fed three times a day at satiation with the following treatments: control (K), the addition of L-carnitine 1 g kg-1 (LK 1), L-carnitine 2 g kg-1 (LK 2), cinnamon 5 g kg-1 (KM 5) and cinnamon 10 g kg-1 (KM 10). Sampling was conducted on the initial, middle and final day for meat fat content analysis. The parameters observed were meat fat and meat texture. The results showed that dietary KM 10 significantly reduced meat fat content compared to controls on the 30th and it showed a more significant reduction, namely 51.06% and 42.55%, in the treatment LK 2 and KM 10 after 60 days treatment. The hepatosomatic index value also decreased, followed by decreased liver fat levels. The lower values of meat hardness imply an increase in meat quality. It can be concluded that the application of dietary cinnamon powder at 10 g kg-1 (KM 10) is the best level to reduce the fat content of striped catfish meat in meeting the fillet standards. This cinnamon has excellent potential to be developed as a feed additive to improve the quality of striped catfish meat in the rearing phase
Penggunaan Metode Kontingen Valuasi dan Metode Biaya Pengganti untuk Valuasi Limbah Loin Tuna ( Thunnus.sp.)
Bentuk loin merupakan merupakan potongan daging utuh dari sebuah ikan dengan kualitas daging terbaik. Potensi ekonomi dari limbah loin berupa tetelan menunjukkan sebuah urgensi valuasi ekonomi limbah melalui nilai kesediaan membayar sehingga penting untuk memahami potensi optimalisasi penggunaan limbah tersebut melalui diversifikasi produk guna memaksimalkan nilai ekonomi dari limbah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghitung valuasi ekonomi limbah loin ikan tuna (Thunnus sp.) dan menjelaskan diversifikasi produk dari limbah loin serta menganalisis faktor faktor yang memengaruhi kesediaan membayar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei Willingness to pay konsumen yang merupakan bagian dari teknik Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) dan Replacement Cost Method (RCM). Responden penelitian berjumlah 27 orang konsumen tetelan merah tuna dan 1 orang informan terkait nilai jasa buang limbah. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa nilai manfaat langsung limbah produksi loin tuna sebesar Rp31.259,00 per kilogram melalui metode kontingen valuasi, sementara nilai manfaat tidak langsungnya adalah sekitar Rp320,00 per kilogram melalui metode biaya pengganti, Nilai ekonomi total untuk limbah loin tuna sebesar Rp31.569,00/kg. Analisis kesediaan membayar mencakup variabel independen, seperti usia, pendidikan, pekerjaan, jenis kelamin, dan pendapatan, sementara variabel dependen adalah nilai kesediaan membayar dengan menggunakan regresi logistik menunjukkan bahwa sekitar 56,7 persen dari nilai kesediaan membayar dipengaruhi oleh variabel independen. Pemanfaatan limbah loin tuna dapat dijadikan berbagai produk olahan yang dapat diproduksi oleh rumah tangga sehingga menjadi nilai tambah lebih dari sebuah limbah.Title: Use of the Contingent Valuation Method and Replacement Cost Method for Valuing Tuna Loin Waste ( Thunnus.sp.)Loin is a whole piece of meat from a fish with the best meat quality.. Understanding the potential for optimizing the use of this waste through product diversification is crucial to maximize its economic value. This research aims to calculate the economic valuation of tuna fish loin waste ( Thunnus sp.) and explain product diversification from loin waste and analyze the factors that influence willingness to pay. The method used in this research is the consumer Willingness to pay survey method which is part of the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) and Replacement Cost Method (RCM) techniques. The research respondents were 27 tuna loin consumers and 1 informant regarding the value of waste disposal services. The research results revealed that the direct benefit value of tuna loin production waste was IDR31,259.00 per kilogram through the contingent valuation method, while the indirect benefit value is around IDR320.00 per kilogram via replacement cost method, so the total economic value for tuna loin waste is IDR31,569.00/kg. Analysis of willingness to pay includes independent variables such as age, education, occupation, gender, and income, while the dependent variable is the value of willingness to pay. Using logistic regression shows that around 56.7 percent of the value of willingness to pay is influenced by the independent variable Utilizing tuna loin waste can be used to make various processed products that can be produced by households so that it adds more value than waste
COMPARISON OF GROWTH OF MANGROVE TYPES OF RHIZOPHORA SPP USING POLYBAG AND HYDROPONIC MEDIA IN KARIMUNJAWA NATIONAL PARK, CENTRAL JAVA
Mangroves are one of the ecosystems that grow in places that are influenced by the around the coast and river mouths. The technique of planting and maintaining mangrove seedlings varies from place to place depending on the media and conditions in the field. The purpose of this study was to compare the growth of mangrove species Rhizophora spp on two different nursery media, namely polybag and hydroponic media. This research was conducted in Karimunjawa National Park, Central Java, with an experimental research method. The results showed the growth rate of mangrove seedlings using polybag media was an average of 0.64cm per fortnight, while with hydroponic media it was 0.44cm per fortnight. The first leaf growth with polybag media occurred in the fifth week after planting while for hydroponic media the leaves grew in the sixth week. The survival rate on polybag media is 92.31%, while in hydroponic media it is 84.61
