OPTIMIZING THE SUBSTITUTION LEVEL OF Lemna perpusilla IN COMMERCIAL FEED TO ENHANCE GROWTH AND FEED EFFICIENCY OF COMMON CARP (Cyprinus carpio) FINGERLINGS
Feed production costs constitute the largest expense incurred by fish farmers. Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is highly favored by consumers due to its delicious taste and affordable price. Rearing common carp fingerlings requires high costs, particularly for feed provision. Feed supplements are needed to enhance feed quality, digestibility, and growth efficiency to reduce feed expenses. One potential feed ingredient derived from aquatic plants that can be used as a supplementary feed is Lemna perpusilla, which has high protein content and effectively improves feed quality for several freshwater fish species. This study used common carp fingerlings measuring 3–5 cm and was conducted from June to July 2023 at UPR Amphibi Batang Toru. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied with five treatments and three replications, using Lemna perpusilla supplementation at 0% (control), 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The final results concluded that the most optimal and efficient Lemna perpusilla supplementation in feed was 40%, which significantly influenced the growth of common carp
SUBSTITUTION OF FLOUR SEA GRAPES Caulerpa racemosa FERMENTED ON TILAPIA (Oreochromis niloticus) FEED
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of substitution of C. racemosa fermented sea grape flour in the feed formulation on tilapia. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Fish Production and Reproduction, University of Mataram for 50 days from March-May 2022. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments tested were control (P1), 4% fermented sea grape flour (P2), 8% fermented sea grape flour (P3), and 12% fermented sea grape flour (P4). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5% level with 95% confidence interval and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that the average absolute weight of fish for 50 days of rearing mass with artificial feeding and at various concentrations of fermented C. racemosa sea grape flour ranged from 9.43-11.58 g, absolute length ranged from 2.24-2 .90 cm, and the specific growth rate ranged from 2.36 to 2.64%/day. Then for the efficiency of feed utilization (EPP ranges from 76.8-95.8%, feed conversion ratio (FCR) ranges from 1.05-1.31 and survival (SR) ranges from 90-97%. Conclusions from this study that the addition of the concentration of fermented C. racemosa sea grape flour can affect the absolute weight of tilapia, but does not affect the absolute length, specific growth rate, FCR value, feed efficiency, and survival rate. 4% (P2) gave the best result because it could increase the absolute weight of tilapia by 11.58
Analisis Kelayakan Usaha Pembuatan Umpan Buatan Menggunakan Durable Artificial Bait (DAB) Di Kota Dumai
Umpan tiruan merupakan salah satu hasil perikanan tangkap yang diperdagangkan. Faktanya, 75% masyarakat Indonesia mempunyai hobi memancing dan membutuhkan umpan untuk memancing. Pemancing di Dumai biasanya membuat sendiri umpan buatan dan membutuhkan waktu dalam pembuatannya. Ketersediaan umpan buatan di Dumai belum efektif di perjualbelikan. Jadi, peluang usaha pembuatan umpan buatan sangat besar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kelayakan umpan buatan menggunakan teknologi Durable Artificial Bait (DAB). Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara kepada pelaku usaha dan survei pasar di Dumai selama 4 bulan. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah keuntungan produksi, R/C Ratio dan BEP. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa usaha pembuatan umpan ikan dengan DAB dinilai layak. Hasil analisis total biaya sebesar Rp. 456.722,-. Pendapatan tahunan adalah Rp. 13.440.000.- dan keuntungan yang diperoleh sebesar Rp. 7.959.333. Nilai R/C Ratio yang diperoleh sebesar 2,45 sehingga layak untuk dilakukan dan dikembangkan. Nilai BEP harga produk ini adalah Rp. 14.273/kemasan. Kesimpulannya, bisnis umpan buatan dengan penambahan teknologi terbarukan yaitu Teknologi Bau Tahan Lama (DAB) dinyatakan layak secara finansial dan dapat membangun startup di bidang perikanan tangkap.Artificial bait is one of the commercial products derived from capture fisheries. In fact, 75% of the Indonesian population enjoys fishing as a hobby and requires bait for this activity. Anglers in Dumai usually make their own artificial bait and it takes time to make it. The availability of artificial bait in Dumai is not yet effective in trading. Therefore, the business opportunity for manufacturing artificial bait is highly promising. The objective of this study is to analyze the feasibility of artificial bait production utilizing Durable Artificial Bait (DAB) technology. The data collection methods used were interviews with business practitioners and market surveys conducted in Dumai over a period of four months. The data analysis included production profit, R/C Ratio, and Break-Even Point (BEP). The results indicate that the artificial bait manufacturing business incorporating Durable Odor Technology (DAB) is feasible. The total production cost was recorded at IDR 456,722. The annual revenue reached IDR 13,440,000, with a net profit of IDR 7,959,333. The R/C Ratio was calculated at 2.45, indicating that the business is viable and has potential for further development. The BEP for the product was determined at IDR 14,273 per package. In conclusion, the artificial bait business utilizing the latest innovation—Durable Odor Technology (DAB)—is financially feasible and has the potential to support the development of a startup in the capture fisheries sector
Efektivitas Ekstrak Kulit Buah Manggis, Kulit Pisang, Kulit Jeruk, Dan Kulit Mangga Terhadap Bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memilih jenis herbal dari ekstrak kulit buah manggis, kulit pisang, kulit jeruk, dan kulit mangga yang memiliki daya hambat terbaik terhadap bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi dan Kualitas Air, Program Studi Teknologi dan Manajemen Pembenihan Ikan, Sekolah Vokasi IPB University. Metode yang digunakan yaitu uji in vitro dan uji in vivo. Hasil menunjukkan pada uji in vitro menggunakan pure ekstrak pada semua bahan terbukti efektif dengan besaran zona hambat terbesar yaitu pure ekstrak kulit mangga sebesar 20 mm. Bahan tersebut kemudian diuji pada uji in vivo menggunakan pure ekstrak etanol kulit mangga pada 4 ekor ikan lele selama 1 jam menghasilkan survival rate sebesar 75% dengan kematian 1 ikan. Pada 24 jam menghasilkan survival rate sebesar 25% dengan kematian 3 ikan. Pure ekstrak etanol kulit mangga efektif dalam mengatasi penyakit bakterial yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila.This study aims to select the type of herbs from mangosteen peel, banana peel, orange peel, and mango peel extracts that have the best inhibitory power against Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The study was conducted at the Microbiology and Water Quality Laboratory, Fish Seed Technology and Management Study Program, IPB University Vocational School. The methods used were in vitro and in vivo tests. The results showed that in vitro tests using pure extracts on all materials were proven effective, with the largest inhibition zone size, namely 20 mm, achieved by pure mango peel extract. The material was then tested in an in vivo study using pure mango peel ethanol extract on four catfish for 1 hour, resulting in a survival rate of 75% with one fish dying. At 24 hours, it produced a survival rate of 25%, with 3 fish dying. Pure mango peel ethanol extract effectively treats bacterial diseases caused by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria
Komposisi dan Ukuran Ikan Hasil Tangkapan Pukat Cincin di Pangkalan Pendaratan Ikan Pontap, Palopo, Sulawesi Selatan
Pengoperasian pukat cincin oleh nelayan di Pangkalan Pendaratan Ikan (PPI) Pontap menimbulkan persaingan yang sangat tinggi dalam kegiatan penangkapan ikan. Persaingan ini tentunya dapat memunculkan kekhawatiran terjadinya penangkapan ikan berlebihan (overfishing) tanpa memperhatikan kelayakan ukuran ikan hasil tangkapan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi dan kesesuaian ukuran ikan hasil tangkapan kapal pukat cincin di PPI Pontap. Penelitian dilaksanakan di PPI Pontap dari tanggal 13 Agustus – 12 Oktober 2024. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu observasional dan analisis datanya secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan komposisi hasil tangkapan pukat cincin di PPI Pontap ada 6 jenis ikan yaitu kembung perempuan 9.252 kg (25,47%), kembung lelaki 2.034 kg (5,60%), tembang 3.060 kg (8,42%), layang 19.980 kg (55%), cakalang 1.080 (2,97%) dan selar tetengkek 920 kg (2,53%). Berdasarkan ukuran panjang tubuh ikan pertama kali matang gonad, maka ikan kembung lelaki, ikan kembung perempuan dan ikan layang layak tangkap sedangkan ikan cakalang, ikan selar tetengkek dan ikan tembang tidak layak tangkap.The operation of purse seine by fishermen at the Pontap Fish Landing Base creates very high competition in fishing activities. This competition can certainly raise concerns about overfishing without considering the appropriateness of the size of the fish caught. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the composition and suitability of the size of the fish caught on purse-seine vessels at the Pontap Fish Landing Base. The study was conducted at the Pontap Fish Landing Base from August 13 to October 12, 2024. The research method used was observational, and the data analysis was descriptive. The results of the study showed that the composition of the purse seine catch at the Pontap Fish Landing Base consisted of 6 species of fish, namely shortbodied mackerel 9,252 kg (25.47%), indian mackerel 2,034 kg (5.60%), sardine 3,060 kg (8.42%), mackerel scad 19,980 kg (55%), skipjack tuna 1,080 (2.97%) and torpedo scad 920 kg (2.53%). Based on the length of the fish’s body when the gonads first mature, shortbodied mackerel, indian mackerel, and mackerel scad are suitable for catching. In contrast, skipjack tuna, sardine, and torpedo scad are not suitable for catching
Efektivitas Dan Kesesuaian Alat Tangkap Ikan Pacing Tonda Terhadap Permen Kp No.18 Tahun 2021 Di Natuna, Kepulauan Riau
Studi ini mengkaji tentang penggunaan alat tangkap pancing tonda oleh nelayan di Natuna, Kepulauan Riau. Penelitian dilaksanakan berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan (PERMEN KP) No.18 Tahun 2021 yang mengatur tentang penangkapan ikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian operasi pancing tonda terhadap peraturan pemerintah dan efektivitas teknisnya dalam mendukung keberlanjutan sumber daya ikan. Metode penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan identifikasi lapangan, uji operasional di laut, dan pengumpulan data sosial ekonomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pancing tonda di Natuna tidak sesuai dengan peraturan pemerintah, terutama mengenai jalur penangkapan dan kapasitas alat tangkap. Data lapangan menunjukkan penggunaan pancing nelayan adalah 15 hingga 25 pancing per main line, dimana jumlah ini melebihi batas dari 10 pancing yang ditetapkan oleh undang-undang. Studi ini juga menemukan bahwa cara nelayan menggunakan pancing tonda dan ulur secara bergantian berperan penting dalam meningkatkan efisiensi. Berdasarkan pengkajian di lapangan, diperlukan adanya peninjauan ulang terkait dengan regulasi pemerintah untuk mendukung operasional nelayan kecil, termasuk pembukaan jalur III untuk alat tangkap tonda, guna memperkuat pengelolaan wilayah laut perbatasan secara berkelanjuta
ANALYSIS OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE SELLING PRICE OF FROZEN BIG EYE TUNA (TUNNUS OBESUS) AT CILACAP FISHING PORT
Bigeye tuna is one of Indonesia's leading fishery commodities. One of the main locations for the routine landing and handling of this species is the Cilacap Fishing Port. The selling price of bigeye tuna plays a crucial role in the sustainability of fisheries businesses. However, unstable and unpredictable tuna prices make it difficult for some businesses to assess their long-term sustainability. Various factors influence tuna prices, both internal to fishing operations and external economic conditions. This study aims to identify factors that influence the selling price of bigeye tuna at the Cilacap Fishing Port. This study used direct observation, interviews, and a literature review, with data ranging from 2022 to 2024. The analytical approach used was multiple linear regression analysis. The research findings indicate that the selling price of frozen bigeye tuna is influenced by production volume, production value, fishing month, and operational costs. The F-test results indicate that the dollar exchange rate, export volume and value, production volume, production value, fishing month, and operational costs simultaneously influence the selling price of bigeye tuna. These variables influence 80.6% of the selling price of bigeye tuna, while 19.4% is influenced by other factors outside the research.
PRODUKTIVITAS PENANGKAPAN DAN KOMPOSISI HASIL TANGKAPAN IKAN PADA ALAT TANGKAP BAGAN DI PERAIRAN KABUPATEN PANGANDARAN
Jumlah alat tangkap bagan di Kabupaten Pangandaran mengalami peningkatan yang menyebabkan komposisi hasil tangkapan mengalami peningkatan. Peningkatan tersebut berkaitan dengan produktivitas alat tangkap yang dapat menentukan keberlangsungan bagan di Kabupaten Pangandaran. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi hasil tangkapan, proporsi hasil tangkapan, ukuran layak tangkap dan produktivitas alat tangkap bagan di Kabupaten Pangandaran. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deksriptif dengan pengambilan data menggunakan metode qouta sampling yang dimana data diperoleh dari 3 bagan apung dan 7 bagan tancap. Hasil penelitian menunjukan komposisi hasil tangkapan yang didapatkan bagan apung sebanyak 8 spesies (cumi-cumi, sotong, udang jerbung, udang jambu, layur, layang, kiper dan belanak) dengan proporsi tertinggi yaitu cumi-cumi (44,43%) dan bagan tancap sebanyak 13 spesies (cumi-cumi, sotong, udang rebon, udang jerbung, udang jambu, teri, layur, layang, kiper, belanak, tembang, peperek dan selar kuning) dengan proporsi tertinggi yaitu udang rebon (61,19%). Berdasarkan perhitungan nilai Lc, hasil tangkapan dinilai sudah layak tangkap. Nilai produktivitas pada bagan apung adalah 0,003-0,005 kg/menit dan bagan tancap 0,019-0,028 kg/menit. Produktivitas bagan menunjukan kecenderungan menurun seiring dengan bertambahnya lama waktu efektif penangkapan
