An awakening that silenced completely the University and almost all the institutions inherited from Modernity. Digitropismo Urbano. Una taxonomía de las redes digitales inductoras de cambios direccionales en el espacio urbano
No full textThe Information and Communication technologies have stealthily taken over everyday life, but with unquestionable force. In this article we analyze how, consciously or unconsciously, citizens and visitors are responsible for activating Network and digital technologies which are triggering major directional changes in the city’s physical space. In this paper, this phenomenon is coined as urban digitropism. For a better understanding of the phenomenon, we carry out a taxonomy based on the classification of different networksthat act within the cityand observe their impact on the urban space. Firstly, we analyze networks based on passive citizen participation in urban transformations. Secondly, we study a set of emerging networks that facilitate the active citizen participation in the directional changes of the city. Thirdly, we catalogue the unleashing effects of these networks in the metabolism of cities, which allowed the identification of a first group of transformations related to changes in the use of the urban space entailing gentrification, displacements and increases in urban flows. These urban transformations are, in turn, causing physical and identity changes in the urban space. A second group of transformations was recognised, capable of stimulating the regeneration and creation of new urban spaces. Finally, the article concludes with a research agenda on urban digitropism.Las Tecnologías de la Información y de la Comunicación, han entrado en nuestro modo de vida de forma sigilosa, pero con una fuerza incuestionable. En este artículo analizamos como los ciudadanos, de forma consciente o inconsciente, somos los encargados de activar la Red y los dispositivos tecnológicos que están estimulando cambios direccionales de la ciudad, fenómeno que hemos denominado digitropismo urbano. Para una mejor comprensión del tema, tras la contextualización del fenómeno, realizamos una taxonomía a partir de la clasificación de las redes que actúan sobre la ciudad y sus repercusiones sobre el espacio físico. En primer lugar, hemos procedido a analizar las redes basadas en la participación pasiva del individuo en las transformaciones urbanas, para luego estudiar un conjunto de redes emergentes que facilitan la participación activa del individuo en los cambios direccionales de la ciudad. Esta clasificación, nos permitió determinar un primer grupo de transformaciones que están induciendo a la gentrificación, al desplazamiento y a la ampliación de flujos urbanos, que consecuentemente producen cambios físicos y de identidad de los lugares. Además, detectamos un segundo grupo de transformaciones, capaces de estimular la regeneración y la creación de nuevos espacios urbanos. Para finalizar, concluimos con la propuesta de una agenda de investigación sobre el digitropismo urbano

Full text linkThis work explores the social, political and cultural changes that led to the complete redefinition of the South Korean health system and the switch in the bodies’ perception as objects for apirational consumerism and commodification in contemporary society. Through different external influences that came into Korea: from the Japanese colonial period of the early twentieth century, to western discourses, which, together with the country´s globalization prompted a revision over the popular culture and the neo-confucian traditions to the point that has turned, nowadays, South Korea into the world´s plastic surgery republic. The cosmetic practice assembles: architectures, agents, narratives and technologies that redesign Seoul´s urban space from the transformation of the bodies beyond translocal networks.El trabajo explora los cambios sociales, políticos y culturales que provocaron la redefinición del sistema de salud surcoreano y el cambio en la percepción de los cuerpos como objetos de consumismo aspiracional en la sociedad contemporánea. Se recorren las distintas influencias externas que llegaron a Corea: desde el periodo colonial japonés de principios de siglo XX, hasta los discursos occidentales, que, junto a la globalización del país, impulsaron una revisión de la cultura popular y las tradiciones neo-confucionistas hasta convertir Corea del Sur en la república de la cirugía plástica mundial. No full textThe article analyzes the reasons why an artistic education within official channels is insufficient for the formation of truly effective agents in the contemporary art scene. From this analysis, the text focuses on what a parallel education needs to offer in order to compensate for the shortcomings mentioned, and suggests ways to make it possible. In essence, non-regulated education needs to generate positions against what’s been stated. That is, to stimulate the generation of self-educating organisms that exist as a negation of what has been pro-posed to them. No full textSe trata de la reseña de tres libros que se expone siguiendo un alógica de disminución dela escala de aproximación a los fenómenos urbanos y arquitectónicos. El primer libro reseñado, "Fuera del mapa" (2017), trata sobre lugares del mundo que se deslizan entre geografías físicas y virtuales, con ciudades o asentamientos urbanos que cuestionan sus conceptios clásicos. El segundo libro, "Transformación del espacio público de Alicante (1975-1995)", (2016) estudia la evolución de los espacios urbanos de esta ciudad -las plazas- en el perido de la Transiciñon española con el protagonismo y rol para la recuperación de la convivencia y la interacción social. Y el tercero de los libros, "Volte stellari e planteriane negli atri barocchi in Torino" (2017), analiza el caso de los complejos zaguanes de los inmuebles nobiliarios y burgueses del barroco de Turín, con sus extraordinarias geometrías, como umbrales de transición desde el espacio exterior público hacia los interiores residenciales privados, mediante levantamientos gráficos actuales apoyados en una amplia investigación histórica

No full textNew Sealand, closely related to the concept of micronation, was born as a dream of freedom, an experiment that idealizes the future but does not want to stop working to meet the expectations of that admired future. Like any googie of its own, with its feet on the ground and looking at the sky, all the ingredients that will form part of this experiment, which takes place on a naval defence platform abandoned about 20km from the English coast, are carefully chosen. Then, born from a collection of our concerns and interests, both as future architects and as people, one by one were emerging the unique characters, already mature and far from being simple concerns begin to colonize the place and end up owning the experiment. In this context, architecture is a container and content, an ecology that facilitates interactions between people, technologies, machines, nature, art, music, colours, flavours, dreams and nightmares, etc., all of which are disordered and harmonised from the subjectivity of time. This gives each personality the capacity to judge the suitability of the designs, which far from being static, become an anonymous poem made by all and yet to be made, which is perfected in time thanks to the modifications and contributions of each inhabitant. And this poem, this architecture in which they coexist, turns out to be the point where people converge and the community emerges, the nexus of union of such disparate identities that with discrepancies and affinities, work in collaboration so that this community is the best version of itself, and from there lay the foundations of a future that admires progress and trusts technology and advances the role of providers of well-being and strength, which is in a way the same future that the googies dreamed of and never arrived. The world is hopelessly broken, but it is also so big and so full of people that it would be wearisome, and despite any effort, also impossible to put it back together. No full textHabitantes Paisajistas (Landscaping Inhabitants) is a tool and work methodology: use the act of walking as a way of approaching and interpreting the landscape. Every year it proposes a relevant topic around which to activate processes of reflection, creation and collective learning, integrating in the artistic practice different knowledge and disciplines. An artistic project by Virginia López, which began its development in 2015 within the framework of PACA Proyectos Artísticos Casa Antonino: a self-managed artist run space in the rural area of Gijón (Asturias) from which the artist proposes experiences of training, creation and contemporary artistic experimentation, so that artistic practice and research, in addition to having an aesthetic and poetic valence, generate new ways of interpretation and knowledge of the territory in which they operate, through cultural, environmental and social values. Habitantes Paisajistas is done in collaboration with the archaeological museum Villa Romana de Veranes, in the attempt to bring new audiences and in particular the local community to the institution through new practices where the educational, experiential and artistic issues interact with our daily landscapes, favoring affective and intellectual ties. This text describes methodologies and experiences carried out during last four years, local development context, references and contradictions that emerged along the way.Habitantes Paisajistas es una herramienta y metodología de trabajo: utilizar el acto de caminar como forma de aproximación e interpretación del paisaje. Cada año propone un tema relevante en torno al cual activar procesos de reflexión, creación y aprendizajes colectivos, integrando en la práctica artística diferentes saberes y disciplinas. Un proyecto artístico de Virginia López, que ha iniciado su desarrollo en el 2015 dentro del marco del proyecto PACA_Proyectos Artísticos Casa Antonino: un artist run space auto-gestionado en la zona periurbana y rural de Gijón (Asturias) desde el que la artista propone experiencias de formación, creación y experimentación artística contemporánea, de manera que la práctica e investigación artística, además de tener una valencia estética y poética, generen nuevas vías de interpretación y de conocimiento del territorio en el que operan, a través de valores culturales, ambientales y sociales. Habitantes Paisajistas se realiza en colaboración con el museo arqueológico Villa Romana de Veranes, en el intento de acercar nuevos públicos y en particular la comunidad local a la institución a través de nuevas prácticas donde lo educativo, lo experiencial y lo artístico se relacionan con la memoria de nuestros paisajes cotidianos, favoreciendo lazos afectivos e intelectuales.
