    No full text
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed at investigating whether there is a relationship between 7- or 30-day mortality and mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, platelet count-to-total lymphocyte count ratio, or red cell distribution width in patients with traumatic brain injury.METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed intensive care unit patients with traumatic brain injury. We recorded patients' ages; genders; diagnoses; Glasgow Coma Scale scores; length of intensive care unit stay (in days); mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, platelet count-to-total lymphocyte count ratio, and red cell distribution width values upon hospital admission; and health on the 7th and 30th days of their stays.RESULTS: We analyzed data from 110 patients. Of these, 84 (76.4%) were male and 26 (23.6%) were female. On the 7- and 30-day mortality evaluations, compared to the living patients, the deceased patients had a significantly higher median age and a significantly lower median Glasgow Coma Scale. Thus, increased age and lower Glasgow Coma Scale scores were associated with increased 7- and 30-day mortality rates. mean platelet volume and platelet distribution width values were similar in living and deceased patients. platelet count-to-total lymphocyte count ratio values were lower in deceased patients, but this difference was not statistically significant. Within 30 days after traumatic brain injury, deceased patients' red cell distribution width values were significantly elevated in deceased patients compared to those of living patients. CONCLUSION: Mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, and platelet count-to-total lymphocyte count ratio values were not associated with 7- and 30-day mortality, whereas only elevated red cell distribution width was associated with 30-day mortality

Charm content of the proton: An analytic calculation

    No full text
According to general understanding, the proton as one of the main ingredients of the nucleus is composed of one down and two up quarks bound together by gluons, described by quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this view, heavy quarks do not contribute to the primary wave function of the proton. Heavy quarks arise in the proton perturbatively by gluon splitting and the probability gradually increases as Q2 increases (extrinsic heavy quarks). In addition, the existence of nonperturbative intrinsic charm quarks in the proton has also been predicted by QCD. In this picture, the heavy quarks also exist in the proton's wave function. In fact, the wave function has a five-quark structure Iuudcc over bar ) in addition to the three-quark bound state Iuud). So far, many studies have been done to confirm or reject this additional component. One of the recent studies has been done by the NNPDF Collaboration. They established the existence of an intrinsic charm component at the 3-standard-deviation level in the proton from the structure function measurements. Most of the studies performed to calculate the contribution of the intrinsic charm so far have been based on the global analyses of the experimental data. In this article, for the first time we directly calculate this contribution by an analytic method. We estimate a xcc over bar = (1.36 +/- 0.67)% contribution for the Iuudcc over bar ) component of the proton.Iran Science Elites Federation (Saramadan) [ISEF/M/99171]K.

The introduction of Add - Differentiate IC, AD-IC, a new integrated circuit, into schemes for realizing single input multiple output current mode filters is the motivation behind this paper. In the circuit structure of this filter with only one active device with a minimal number of transistors and five passive components are being used. Non ideal effects of the design are investigated and simulation results of the application, using TSMC 0.25 mu m process parameters with +/- 1.25 V power supply voltage and the bias VBVB {V}_B as 0.8 V resulting in 0.99 mW power dissipation for the entire filter, are also presented to confirm the theoretical analysis. With this new design technique, the tunabilities of the angular frequency ( omega 0ω0 {\omega}_0 ) and quality factor ( QQ Q ) can be performed independently

Bunun yanı sıra, sanal zorbalık farkındalığı ise sadece anne eğitim seviyesine bağlı olarak farklılaşmaktadır

Prediction of heat transfer characteristics in a microchannel with vortex generators by machine learning

    No full text
Because of the prompt improvements in Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, thermal management necessities have altered paying attention to the compactness and high energy consumption of actual electronic devices in industry. In this study, 625 data sets obtained numerically according to the change of five different geometric parameters and Reynolds numbers for delta winglet type vortex generator pairs placed in a microchannel were utilized. Four dissimilar artificial neural network models were established to predict the heat transfer characteristics in a microchannel with innovatively oriented vortex generators in the literature. Friction factor, Nusselt number, and performance evaluation criteria were considered to explore the heat transfer characteristics. Different neuron numbers were determined in the hidden layer of each of the models in which the Levethenberg-Marquardt training algorithm was benefited as the training algorithm. The predicted values were checked against the target data and empirical correlations. The coefficient of determination values calculated for each machine learning model were found to be above 0.99. According to obtained results, the designed artificial neural networks can provide high prediction performance for each data set and have higher prediction accuracy compared to empirical correlations. All data predicted by machine learning models were collected within the range of +/- 3% deviation bands, whereas the majority of the estimated data by empirical correlations dispersed within & PLUSMN;20% ones. For that reason, a full evaluation of the estimation performance of artificial neural networks versus empirical correlations data is enabled to fill a gap in the literature as one of the uncommon works

CFOA-based floating frequency dependent negative resistor, floating capacitance multiplier, and simulated floating inductor

    No full text
This paper introduces a new floating simulator circuit suitable for realizing a floating frequency dependent negative resistor (FFDNR) or a floating capacitance multiplier (FCM) with selections of the passive elements. In addition, a new circuit for realizing a simulated floating inductor (SFI) is introduced. The introduced FFDNR, FCM, and SFI use three current feedback operational amplifiers. The introduced FFDNR and FCM include a canonical number of passive components without any matching requirements, while the SFI contains three re-sistors and a grounded capacitor with a single resistive matching condition. Voltage-mode band-pass, low-pass, and notch filters are given as application examples

Key nodes mining for complex networks based on local gravity model

    No full text
Identification of key nodes in complex networks can effectively speed up the spread of favourable information or prevent the spread of rumours and diseases. An algorithm based on local gravity model is proposed to mine the key spreaders in complex networks. The existing algorithms based on gravity model consider the shortest distance between nodes. However, nodes not only influence each other through the shortest path, which will lead the loss of information between nodes. Different from the existing gravity model, the distance considered in this model is not the shortest distance between nodes, but the reciprocal of the number of feasible paths between nodes. Conveniently, the model is called FPLGM (Local Gravity Model Based on Feasible Paths). Ten different networks are utilised to verify the effectiveness of FPLGM. Results show that the FPLGM performs best in comparison with the well-known state-of-the-art methods.National Natural Science Foundation of China [62276058, 61902057, 41774063]; Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities [N2217003]; Joint Fund of Science AMP; Technology Department of Liaoning Province; State Key Laboratory of Robotics, China [2020-KF-12-11]This work was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China [grant number 62276058, 61902057, 41774063]; Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities [grant number N2217003]; Joint Fund of Science & Technology Department of Liaoning Province and State Key Laboratory of Robotics, China [grant number 2020-KF-12-11]
