Nasal obstruction in adults: how it affects psychological status?

    No full text
ObjectiveThis study investigated the psychological status of patients with unilateral or bilateral complete nasal obstruction.MethodThe study included 49 consecutive cases of unilateral or bilateral complete nasal obstruction. In order to assess participants' personality traits, both groups completed the Personality Belief Questionnaire, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory form, Beck Depression Inventory and Beck Anxiety Inventory.ResultsThe groups were similar in terms of demographic characteristics. Patients with unilateral or bilateral complete nasal obstruction had higher scores on all the psychological assessments compared with the healthy controls, except for the Beck Anxiety Inventory. Although all personality assessment scores were higher in patients, the only differences that were statistically significant were in the dependent, antisocial and avoidant personality trait scores.ConclusionThe psychological conditions of patients with structural deformities that cause nasal obstruction may be affected, and appropriate treatment should be provided to improve their symptoms and quality of life

It was found to explain 32%, 30%, 29%, and 22% of the total effect, respectively.ConclusionIt supports the claim that developing public health nurses' holistic nursing competence and social justice advocacy skills is an important criterion for achieving sustainable development goals

On Mahler's Um-numbers in fields of formal power series over finite fields

    No full text
Let K be a finite field, K(x) be the quotient field of the ring of polynomials in x with coefficients in K and K be the field of formal power series over K. In this paper, we treat polynomials whose coefficients belong to a field extension of degree m over K(x). We show that the values of these polynomials at certain U-1-numbers in the field K are U-m- numbers in K

A Modified Approach to the Rack Generation of Beveloid Gears

    No full text
The purpose of this paper is to present an easier and more efficient method for the determination of the geometry of a bevelled gear tooth. Based on a method that provides an easier way for the rack generation of involute helical gears, the mathematical model of a beveloid gear is studied. The mathematical procedure for developing two-dimensional cross-sections has been extended to three-dimensional gear models. A computer programme is developed to obtain generating and generated surfaces. The proposed algorithm is compared with the previous studies for verification and validation. The results demonstrate that the coordinates obtained from the given method are nearly the same on the start and end points of the main gear parts, such as the involute and root fillets regions. Also, between the limits, the values can be considered acceptable. A coordinate deviation of the gear profile has been observed in the mathematical model, because of the profile shift. Modifications have been developed in the equations to eliminate these cases. The main advantage of the proposed method is to obtain mathematical models without carrying out some of the calculation steps used in previous studies. Eventually, this feature will provide an easier and faster method to develop computer-aided models of the beveloid gear types

The Struggle of Great and Regional Powers in the War of Ukraine: Russia's Perspective

    No full text
This study investigates the Ukraine-Russia War, which started in February 2022, from the perspective of Russia. In the study, why Russia declared war on Ukraine, Russia's policies, official documents and official discourses were examined. Despite the end of the Cold War, enlargement of NATO, which is a military structure, and the Eastern European enlargement of the EU as an economic-political structure has been closely followed in Russia since the Yeltsin period. In the Putin period, it was reflected in the official documents that this was a threat. At this point, it was deduced that this war emerged not only with the influence of Russia's but also the West's policies. Ukraine-Russia War had global effects, for this reason, it has been inferred that Ukraine has become a battleground of major and regional powers. Another finding of the research is that Ukraine is subject to a war that is a reflection of a struggle between great powers. As a result of the research, it was concluded that Russia declared war on Ukraine due to a threat perception coming from the West, especially with the expansion of NATO, its struggle with the USA, and its efforts to preserve its influence in the former Soviet region

    No full text
BackgroundDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, negative working conditions in the nursing profession have worsened, and nurses have experienced various challenges that have increased their intention to leave work. Findings on the role of nurse performance under such conditions are limited.AimsThis study aimed to investigate the role of performance in the effect of the challenges experienced by nurses during the pandemic on their intention to leave work.MethodsThis descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted between July 2022 and August 2023 in Turkey using an online survey. A total of 462 nurses participated in the study, which employed the non-probability random and snowball sampling methods.ResultsThe mediating factors in the effect of the challenges experienced by nurses during the pandemic on their intention to leave work were task performance (beta = 0.07), contextual performance (beta = 0.05), and counterproductive work behavior (beta = 0.12), respectively.ConclusionsThis study determined that task performance, contextual performance, and counterproductive work behavior played an important role in the effect of the challenges experienced by nurses during the pandemic on their intention to leave work. The present results may serve as a guide in determining effective strategies to be employed in possible pandemic situations

    No full text
This article offers a novel flux controlled floating memristor emulator based on second-generation current conveyor (CCII). The floating memristor is designed using two CCIIs, one resistor, and one PMOS transistor. The presented memristor emulator does not need external capacitance. The proposed designed circuit exhibits pinch hysteresis loops in voltage-current plane up to 2 GHz frequency. The performance of the circuit under consideration is evaluated using 180 nm CMOS technology parameter by the SPICE simulator. The circuit requires a DC power supply of +/- 1.2 V and exhibits a power consumption of 0.766 mW. Furthermore, the resilience of the planned circuit is assessed by examining process corner fluctuation, supply voltage variation, temperature variation, and transistor size variations. In addition, a Schmitt trigger circuit and high order filters based on designed memristor are used to confirm the operation of the proposed design at high and low frequency, respectively. No full text
In order to increase energy supply reliability, a regulation was issued by the Turkish Energy Market Supervisory Authority. According to this regulation, operation hydroelectric power plants are allowed to add solar power plants with the power calculated according to certain conditions. Herewith will increase electricity generation by utilizing the existing facilities of the operating hydroelectric power plant. Thus, the hydroelectric power plant will be operated more efficiently and effectively. In this study, a real case study on the hybridization of an operating hydroelectric power plant in Turkey with a solar power plant was conducted. The study investigated the amount of energy increase of the power plant, the financing need for additional investment, and the feasibility of this investment. According to the results of the study, the payback period of the additional investment in the Turkish energy market is 4 years and the annual revenue of the hybrid power plant increases by 20%. In conclusion, this study has shown that the hybrid power plant is technically and economically feasible
