    AFLES’s Inspirations and Its ASEAN Youth Community Development (ASEAN Future Leaders Summit)

    This article is discussing about experiences of conducting AFLES (ASEAN Future Leaders Summit), which started in 2013 with the collaboration between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Prince of Songkla University, Thailand (PSU). AFLES is an action-packed summit meant for ASEAN youth with exciting forums, discussions, lectures, team-work, outdoor activities, community work, services, sight-seeing and cultural events. With the main objectives of developing ASEAN youth community in terms of their leadership skills and to serve as a platform for ASEAN youth to get together and connected to each other, AFLES for the last sixth term (2013-2018), has evolved to be a looking after summit to participate by ASEAN university student leaders. Over the years AFLES has developed and progressed with a few more collaborators, namely AKEPT (Malaysia Higher Education Leadership Academy), UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA), UUM (Universiti Utara Malaysia) and UKM (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). Community development, ASEAN unity and harmonization, and Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions in ASEAN are discussed regarding to the sustainability of AFLES in conducting an international program for youth across ASEAN region

    This study about media economy wants to see how far the relationship between the market and the content strategy of a television program. Kompas Sport program of Kompas TV is selected to be the focus of this study, because the program as a sport program is not only presenting game shows, but also other side of athletes’ life. This program is considered interesting because it is packaged in contrast to other sport programs. This study uses critical theories regarding media economics, market oligopoly, market structure, market conduct, and market performance. While the method that is chosen in this study is qualitative with critical paradigm. The result of this research is showing that there is relationship between market competition and content strategy. It showed that there is interdependence between market structure condition the company itself. The company's behavior in the interdependent oligopoly market led to mergers and acquisitions of several television stations

    DEVELOPMENT OF SIMPLE INFRASTRUCTURE TO ENHANCE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN PASIR MULYA TOURISM VILLAGE

    Pasir Mulya Tourism Village Sustainable Development in Bandung Regency is one of the programs of Binus Bangun Desa. Some developments have been conducted in this village such as the reconstruction of sanitation facilities of rented houses, the development of small/middle size entrepreneurship economics, and etc. This study was performed based on the discussion between the community, village officers, and the chief of the village and also the survey conducted by our team. The survey was conducted on the types of simple infrastructures and urgent needs of the village. Based on the survey it is shown that the needs of the community were trainings and assistance. The assistance were regarding the understanding of prevention acts during natural disasters such as earthquake and landslide. The trainings needed were regarding how to design a simple earthquake proof house, design and repair village roads and design water distribution system with a storage pond. This paper will present a future action plan to enhance the development and programs that have been conducted in Pasir Mulya village

    Rural areas experience an imbalance between rural development and cities due to a centralistic development approach. Noting this reality, the government shifted its approach to development strategies that led to decentralization policies. The development of tourism in the village of Pasirmulya is directed at the concept of sustainable development, where local communities are given the authority to manage the tourism potential that exists. The problem is that there are no accommodation facilities for visitors in the village of Pasirmulya, according to the character of rural areas. Eco-homestay is the concept of accommodation facilities in the local ecotourism destination area which is natural, clean, healthy, safe, orderly and environmentally friendly. Applied the concept of marketing, understanding the values ​​of tourism, and improving the quality of human resources, is expected to contribute economically to local communities in the village of Pasirmulya. The results of mentoring that have been carried out are the ability of the community in tourism awareness, can carry out independent cleaning of the homestay and increase income in homestay management

Along with the development of information and communication technology (ICT), which is increasing rapidly today, Mitra Bintaro Middle School has an official website as one of the means of disseminating information for students, parents and the community. However, Mitra Bintaro Middle School does not have e-learning based learning media that can be accessed by teachers and students. This service activitywas held with the aim to implement an e-learning based learning system and train teachers and students in using E-learning at Mitra Bintaro Middle School. This training activity was divided into two sessions. In the first session, the material was delivered regarding the use of e-learning for teachers. Whereas in the second session the e-learning material was delivered to students of Mitra Bintaro Middle School. Participants are required to practice the material presented directly. With the implementation of the e-learning technology, the competency and access to learning for students and teachers of Mitra Bintaro Junior High School is easier and increasing

    EMPOWERMENT OF HOMESTAY CONCEPTS IN WANGUN VILLAGE, PASIRMULYA, BANDUNG

    This study aims to observe the condition of the Wangun tourist village of Pasirmulya Banjaran Village, Bandung, especially the houses of the residents so it meets the standards of a homestay type based on hospitality concept to empower the village developing their tourism advantage. A programmed training session is important to the resident to upgrade their knowledge of hospitality skills. The method used in this study is qualitative method with direct interviews to residents of the Wangun village. Researcher also do some direct observation to the village, and collect literatures to support this study. The result indicates that many houses are not suitable enough to run as a homestay standard to accommodate the visitor. Plus, the residents’ ability to communicate and their hospitality skills are still low. After training the results obtained that several houses have been gradually able to meet the standard of a homestay based on the hospitality standard, as well as the villagers’ ability to communicate and their hospitality skills are improved

    Human interactions are being communicated by means of electronic, Internet-based Medias. This research is about representation differ in presentation on online dating applications. This study is aimed at understanding how images are used as a means of creating an identity, specifically through Tinder. Self-presentation is divided into two parts: the front region and the back region. The front region is the area where a person displays a self-presentation that he/she wants to show the audience or user in this context in the picture. Front region consists of setting, appearance, and manner that are related to each other. In the back region, the appearance is a visual appearance that is not displayed or any activity performed. That will create impression management in Tinder which create personal branding. In this study qualitative method are used to answer the research questions. The process of research involves emerging questions and procedures, data typically collected in the participant’s setting, data analysis inductively building from particulars to general themes, and the researcher making interpretations of the meaning of the data. The results showed that starting from self-presentation, every participant have their own style to build their own personal branding to make him/her unique among all the other tinder user. This allows them to stand out. The implication of this research is the need for management of personal branding for every individual involved because personal branding is really important as a form of self-presentation in order to compete in relationship or business

    The use of animation media is one of the many problems in learning in schools. Over time, the existence of supporting media for learning by using various basic media based on information technology such as short films with short duration of time is actually one of the alternatives to handle the saturation of the unpleasant conditions of students in teaching and learning activities. However, the use of animated film media is only used to present students' work. The use of Microsoft Power Point as a medium to create animated short films applies a scientific approach in which applying a scientific attitude and good knowledge is not enough if it is not supported by activities involving pycnomorphic or skills. This is so that training participants can experience positive development both in terms of knowledge and skills and it is hoped that scientific attitudes will arise to solve problems so that they are ready to face the times in their golden age

    Based on the survey released by the UNESCO in 2017, Indonesia was ranked 60th out of 61 countries on reading interest. This result is in line with the findings of the preliminary survey conducted by a community dedication team in South Meruya district. They find that reading interest in the area is very low indicated by the number of books read. The low reading interest could cause a negative impact, especially in a digital era where any information can be accessed through social media. Unfortunately, such information cannot be justified and is more often to provoke and causing chaos. Therefore, community service is held in Meruya Selatan district in order to increase the community literacy. The purpose is done by making a reading corner which aims to provide the community access to interesting and useful reading materials to increase reading interest and knowledge to create a high-quality community life
