A Study of the Curriculum in Preschool-Elementary School Cooperation : Investigation by observing the classes of 'Physical Education' and 'Music' for the 1st graders
The purpose of this study is to investigate what puzzlement or stumbling the 1st graders of elementary school would feel. Then, we will discuss the consistent curriculum focusing on the encouragement of children's learning. From the results of class observations and the class teachers' notice on their 1st graders' behaviors, it was revealed that the children felt various puzzlement or stumbling, although the teachers had already taken proper actions for it. However, since some of the children's problems (or "barriers") continue after the 1st term, it remained uncertain whether the problems were too hard for the children to overcome or solvable with the passage of time. In the future, we will continue to explore if the children will be able to overcome the problems by observing their classes in the next term

A Study on Mentors' Images of Practice-teachers and Their Expectation Concerning Talents of Practice-teachers
During students' on-site training of child nursing or kindergarten education, teachiers at the institutes, functioning as their mentors, present role models to those practice-teachers, and contribute to the young trainees developing their professional "identity as nursery school or kindergarten teachers". In this research a questionnaire is given to 102 caretakers and kindergarten teachers who have experienced mentoring of practice-teaching students, with questions as to "their impression about mentoring", "their image of practice-teachers", "their anxiety toward trainees' participation" or "their idea about the best timing to acquire skills and talents as a teacher", and their answers are analyzed. The results of the analysis are as follows:
1.Whether mentors accept their trainee affects the image or anxiety they hold toward the younger ones.
2.The main element of the difficulty mentors hold toward their trainees is whether the students already have basic caring skills or not. The shorter experience mentors have, the more difficult they feel mentoring is.
3.Mentors' expectation is that basic attitudes and basic skills needed as nursing school/kindergarten teachers should be acquired before on-site practice, and that the skills to develop relationship with children should be acquired during the on-sight experience. They recognize that the skills to developing relationship with guardians, structuring children's environment, and treatment of children with special needs may be acquired after employment
