We present three partial studies about the transmission of Aeschines text in manuscripts of Spain and Portugal:
1. The text of the Letters atributed to Aeschines in Matrit. 4693 and 4809.
2. Study of the epigram transmitted in Matrit. 4693.
3. The text of the oration Against Ctesiphon in the manuscript Res. 463 of the National Library of Lisbon.

Among other forms in the lexicon of Hesychius a preverb ζά ‘much, very’, without an indication of the dialectal provenance can be found; this form has been quoted as a typical Lesbian formation by Johannes Grammaticus Philoponus (490-580 AD) in his work on Lesbian dialect. In fact, the occurence of instead of may be observed only twice in Lesbian inscriptions. On the other hand, one observes the use of ζά attested in literary dialect, both in an absolute form and as a member of compound in Sappho and Alcaeus. The forms with ζα- are attested also in Homeric poems, and as probable Homeric elements they occur also in the Archaic Lyric. According to Hoffmann, all the glosses found in Hesychius, which display the use of the preverb ζά in place of διά should be interpreted as originating from the Lesbian dialect. It seems however more probable to consider the big group of compound glosses consisting of ζα- to be rather poetical formations. They all belong to the poetical diction (even if the possibility of existing in the vernacular use in some cases cannot be excluded), where since early Epic the metrically caused variants ζα- and δια- existed hand in hand. The occurring interchange ζά for διά for the metrical reason in Sappho and Alcaeus should then be considered another element of Epic/Homeric influence upon an independent Aeolic poetical tradition.
The complexity of the fictive dialog created by Tacitus in the Dialogus de oratoribus has generated a lively scholarly debate about the relationships between the arguments presented by the different characters and Tacitus’ own ideas about the development and possibilities of oratory under the imperial regime. In this paper a new approach to this problematic will be presented, different from other traditional approaches to the question. Beyond the different arguments presented by the characters of the work, attention will here be focused on some underlying points of consensus between them. This consensus, seen in relationship with all of the historian’s works, reveals interesting new aspects of Tacitus’ opinion about the central subject of the dialog.
In this article I pay special attention to the two longest direct speeches which Sallust places in the mouth of Catiline (Sall., Cat. 20 and 58). The aim of my research is to analyze the structure of these orations, testing whether they adapt to the theory and praxis of dramatic speech in Greek and Roman historians, and, above all, to establish which role these orationes played in the general program of Sallust’s Catilinarian Conspiracy.
Relectura morfo-semántica del término etrusco TUŚURΘI(R)
The Etruscan term tuśurθi(r) has been interpreted up to the date as a nominative and translated as ‘consort’. A detailed analysis of morphology in this term and, especially, a comparative study with syntactic Etruscan structures and with elements of cultural Greco-Roman method, they allow to see, in clear continuity with the intuitions of Pallottino and Rix, a plural locative in the same one. This hypothesis helps to confirm, in addition, the hierarchy of animated nouns in the distribution of the different marks of plural in Etruscan.
