Collaborative professional learning community serves as one of teacher professional development forms. In the last few decades, teacher professional learning community has been utilized by the Indonesian government as a model of teacher professional development program. However, several issues are still found in the program. Some of those problematic issues are the design of the activity which has not included teachers’ perception and the learning process which has not put enough focus on students. Didactical Design Research (DDR) is a theoretical and methodological framework in teacher professional learning community. DDR has been developed and implemented in several programs of teacher professional development community in Indonesia. This article elaborates teachers’ perception on teacher professional learning community and design of DDR-based teacher professional learning community which is developed by referring to teachers’ perception. Qualitative and quantitative designs are applied in collecting, cultivating, analyzing the research data. Teachers participated in this research were as many as 145 coming from 9 different provinces in Indonesia. Research findings revealed that majority of teachers generated the following notions; ideal total learning hours were 2-4 lesson hours, meeting was conducted once a month, there should be 10-20 participants involved, and they declared the necessity of involving the government, technology use, and research-based activities. Another idea was the design of the program consisted of 12 meetings which was begun with students’ difficulty test and ended by dissemination of the result of the program. Referring to those outcomes, a conclusion can be drawn highlighting that teachers’ perception serves as a crucial component in developing the design of DDR-based teacher professional learning community

The rapid pace of population growth and continuous expansion of urban area is moving us towards economic prosperity but causes limited water resources across the globe. Water quality issues are prevailing due to the meteoric urban development and knocking the doors of legislators, city planners and development specialist for the efficient management of groundwater by adopting sustainable approaches. To address this alarming situation, current study examines the quality of groundwater in industrial and trading zone, Pakistan, as well as its influences on human fitness and ecological environment. Suitability and quality of 24 boring wells are examined at different depth ranges between (100-150 feet). The study involves substantial field work for collection of water sample, laboratory testing further, correlation matrix in the study figure out water excellence by computing physical parameters i-e pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, turbidity, hardness), chemical parameters including significant ions (sodium, potassium, , magnesium, chloride, calcium, bicarbonate, nitrate), few minor elements (iron, manganese) and trace elements (zinc, nickel, cobalt, chromium and copper) and comparing it with World Health Organization standards. The findings have reported the substandard water quality in the S.I.T.E (Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate) town. However, issues-oriented groundwater protection and management policies can help to promote sustainable development especially taking all stakeholders on board for the smooth implementation and fruitful results. Growth of population and increased demand on food and water in arid areas like the Middle East is a chronic problem. To overcome water shortage many countries depend on imported virtual water. Kurdistan region, however, is a unique case. The region has more than 30BCM of fresh water for six million people, but it is importing huge amount of virtual water. Turkey has found it’s the best and the nearest market for its virtual water exports in Kurdistan region and South Iraq. The aim of this work is to find the size of imported virtual water into Kurdistan market, Turkey contribution to this market and water footprint in Kurdistan region. Methods of analysing, comparing and description were used. The paper has found that Turkey is reducing water flow of Rivers to Kurdistan region and South Iraq; In contrast, it increases virtual water exports into those two markets. The paper has shown that annually Turkey exports about 7.5 BCM of Virtual water into Kurdistan region-Iraq. In addition, the value of each cubic meter of imported virtual water from Turkey has been estimated. And finally, the paper has explored the volume of water footprint-per person in Kurdistan region which is the third highest in the world. This paper can be mentioned as a first step toward scientific work on virtual water, its value and water footprint in Kurdistan region and Iraq

Role of Medicine Patent Pool (MPP) in Resolving Conflict between Patents and Access to Essential Medicines

    Get PDF
This paper analyses the issue from both international intellectual property law and access to medicine with reference to contributions made by Medicine Patent Pool (MPP), an alternate model of resolving conflict between patent protection of medicines and access to medicine. Adoption of Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) Agreement, under framework of World Trade Organisation (WTO), has significantly altered the enforcement standards of intellectual property rights, especially patent rights (Halewood, 1997).  Although, TRIPS Agreement introduces minimum standards of intellectual property rights protection but in case of pharmaceutical patents, they have impact on access to essential medicines because of strict standards (Kojo, 2018). This paper aims at analysing role of MPP towards solving conflict between patents on medicines and access to medicine

    Get PDF
The role of money supply along with domestic credit to the private sector is considered very critical in an economy. It helps to improve economic growth and economic well-being of the inhabitants of a country. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of money supply and domestic credit to the private sector on the economic well-being of the inhabitants of Pakistan using annual data set over the period from 1981 to 2018. Autoregressive Distributive Lag (ARDL) with Bound Testing and Error Correction Model (ECM) have been applied to analyse the model for the long run as well as short run. The findings of the study indicate that both money supply and domestic credit have a statistically significant and positive impact on economic well-being measured by GDP per capita. On the other hand, inflation and real effective exchange rate, both have a significant and negative impact on economic well-being. The study suggests an easy monetary policy to promote domestic consumption and domestic credit since both are important determinants of economic growth and well-being

    Get PDF
State aid control can encourage the design of more effective growth-enhancing policies and it can ensure that competition distortions remain limited so that the European Union (EU) internal market remains open and contestable. The objectives of this paper are exhaustive in nature. One of them is to examine the impact of different aids on GDP of EU for time period of 2005 to 2015. Another is to evaluate the proportion of different aids in a year and their cross-year analysis. To achieve the objectives, descriptive as well as inferential analysis has been used and to assess the effect of different aids on GDP of EU, the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Model has been used. The descriptive analysis reveals that the aid in subsidies (SUB) and tax exemptions (TAX) have the larger proportion throughout the time period. The results of ARDL model conclude that the two aids SUB and TAX having the largest proportion do not have a significant impact on EU GDP.

    Get PDF
This article computes the energy security performance between two crucial South Asian neighboring countries in the region through aggregated energy security performance indicators (AESPI) using time series data of time spanning 1990-2018. The findings of this manuscript suggest that total primary energy supply, final energy consumption, household electricity consumption, share of non- carbon energy per total primary energy consumption, net energy import dependency Co2 emissions per capita and per GDP and residential energy consumption lead to make better energy security performance in Pakistan. However, total primary electricity consumption, total primary and final energy intensity, reserve production ratio of oil & gas and transformation losses adversely affect energy security performance in Pakistan. On another end, in India final energy consumption, total primary energy intensity, household electricity consumption, share of capacity of renewable energy per total electricity generation, share of renewable energy per final energy consumption, net energy import dependency and Co2 emissions per capita lead to improve energy security performance. Conversely, total primary energy supply, total primary electricity consumption, final energy intensity, transformation loss, reserve production ratio of oil & gas, share of non-carbon energy per total primary energy supply and Co2 emissions per GDP may cause to reduce energy security performance in India. In conclusion, the overall energy security performance is improved in both the countries by time, India (more improved than Pakistan) and Pakistan, as the findings of this manuscript suggest

COVID 19 Infodemic: An Analysis of Myths and Realities

    Get PDF
Coronavirus pandemic on one hand has affected the social life and attitude of the people and on the other hand, it has given a fertile ground to the opportunists to propagate and develop novel theories. This investigation aimed to explore one of the viral theories that claim the pandemic as a sponsored plan of WHO and other donor agencies which involve the international leadership, governments and global media. It claims that coronavirus cases and deaths increased after the announcement of financial assistance for the virus-affected countries by WHO on March 11, 2020. The quantitative study analyzes the data consisting of corona-cases and corona-deaths reported from March 1-31, 2020 in Pakistan, India, Italy and America, and media coverage of the pandemic by news channels like Geo News, ARY News, Aaj Tak News and a renowned international channel CNN during the same time span. The results of the study negate the theory of global conspiracy and planted media coverage. It presents that COVID 19 is a pandemic that has nothing proportional with any proposed and sponsored plan by any organization. The study recommends a replica study by selecting a longer duration of the pandemic, increasing the number of counties and news channels to confirm the result of the study

This study aims to determine the influence of related parties, profitability, committee on firm value, through the mediating role of economic growth. We conducted research on 40 companies of various industrial subsectors on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), over a period of  3 years (2016 to 2018), and the analysis model are Multivariate Regression and Moderating Regression Analysis (MRA). The empirical findings of this study are that the disclosure of related party transactions has an effect on firm’s value, while profitability has no effect on firm’s value, then the audit committee has no effect on firm’s value. The results of this study also indicate that economic growth can moderate the effect of related party disclosure on firm’s value, but it does not have a role in the relationship between profitability and the audit committee on firm’s value
