Creation of the Foundations for Childcare Expertise Acquisition for New Childcare Workers 3 ―Utilizing the Modified Grounded Theory Approach Analysis Of Mid-Level Childcare Worker Changes―
Objective: For analysis of foundation formation for newly appointed childcare workers to acquire expertise, we conducted an interview survey of six childcare workers with three to eight years of experience concerning their childcare practice development.
Methods: The interview content was analyzed using M-GTA(Modified Grounded Theory Approach), and the analysis produced 50 concepts, 19 subcategories, and six higher-level categories, including: a)childcare behaviors, b)children's awareness/acceptance, c)integration of childcare practice and awareness, d)responses to parents, e)changes with career advancement, and f)various attitudes to their careers.
Results: The analysis produced an explanatory diagram, and the following growth processes were identified.
・Initial years: Gaining a sense of affirmation by practicing childcare under senior supervision
・3rd to 4th year: Gaining a freedom to practice childcare freely
・5th to 6th year: Gaining a freedom to understand children and the flow of childcare
・ 7th to 8th year: Gaining a freedom to see children with a bird's-eye view to objectively understand
childcare in totality.
Conclusion:
The results of this study indicated that the professional foundation of new childcare workers is an
"integration of childcare practice and children's awareness." This study also indicated that, in order to grow into a mid-level childcare worker, it is necessary to view childcare practice utilizing a meta-perspective.departmental bulletin pape

The Multidimensional Structure of University Students’ Ambiguous Attitudes Toward Employment:Application of the Tolerance of Ambiguity and “Full-time Employee for the time being orientation”Scales
Traditionally, attitudes toward ambiguity have been discussed from a binary perspective: whether the tolerance of ambiguity is high or low. This study was conducted to develop a multifaceted scale to measure attitudes toward ambiguity among university students in the preparatory stage for employment. It also examined the relation between these attitudes and 16 personality traits. For Study 1, we investigated the correspondence between 50 items related to “becoming a regular employee” and the 11 dimensions of the Career Decision-Making Profile (CDMP) through participatory action research. The results of a factor analysis of “becoming a regular employee,” conducted in Study 2, suggested that attitudes toward ambiguity comprise multiple aspects encompassing both positive and negative attitudes: “enjoyment,” “acceptance,” “control,” and “exclusion” of ambiguity. “Enjoyment,” a positive attitude toward ambiguity, was positively correlated with 14 personality traits. It proved to be the most responsive. This finding suggests that, for university second-year and third-year university students in the preparatory stage for employment, holding the assumption that they are in an ambiguous situation and providing career guidance that actively engages them can enhance the effectiveness of career support for recipients with varying levels of readiness.departmental bulletin pape
Proposal of a Method to Predict the Impression of Colorfulness in Textile Designs
In this study, we proposed a method for predicting the impression of colorfulness in textile designs using three features: color diversity based on information entropy, hue dispersion, and average saturation of images. Using these three features as explanatory variables and a multiple regression equation, the subjective impression of colorfulness obtained from a sensory evaluation experiment was predicted. The results demonstrated that the proposed method could predict colorfulness with an accuracy of approximately 60% in terms of the coefficient of determination. The ratio of the contributions of color diversity, hue dispersion, and average saturation was approximately 5:3:1. The proposed method can potentially be applied to product searches using emotional words on e-commerce apparel sites.departmental bulletin pape
Focus on "Amae" in Clinical Practice:Consideration from Doi's View of Treatment and the “Torokashi” Technique by Heisaku Kosawa
This study aims to determine the nature of Takeo Doi’s clinical practice, which is centered on the “Amae” Theory. In this study, the articles discussing Doi’s treatment of “Amae” in his clinical practice were reviewed and his theory of treatment was organized. As a result, a therapeutic mechanism was observed in the early Doi, whereby the patient is put into a state of “wanting to be spoiled but not being spoiled,” thereby restoring a sense of “self” and overcoming “Amae.” This observation was significantly different from the treatment theory and “torokashi” technique of Heisaku Kosawa, which Doi criticized. However, Doi’s theory of treatment has changed along with his changing sense of “Amae.” It became clear that the aim of Doi’s treatment theory in his later years was to address the conflicts and emotions contained in “Amae” by finding them while the therapist identifies with the patient.departmental bulletin pape
