THE ROAD TO SERENE: A HOLISTIC ANALYSIS OF AL-KINDI'S CONCEPT OF HAPPINESS AND ITS CONTRIBUTION TO MENTAL HEALTH IN THE MODERN ERA
Al-Kindi's concept of happiness offers a synthesis of rational philosophy and Islamic spirituality that is highly relevant in the modern era. This study aims to explore Al-Kindi's concept of happiness philosophically and practically, by exploring the methods of achieving it and its relevance in facing the challenges of contemporary life. The method used was a qualitative library research approach to collect and analyze data from various sources. The results show that Al-Kindi places reason as the primary instrument for achieving true happiness. He emphasized the importance of self-control over desires and emotions, as well as closeness to God as the pinnacle of eternal happiness. His rational approach to overcoming grief, which bears similarities to Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), proves the relevance of his thinking in the context of modern psychology. Thus, Al-Kindi's thinking not only enriches the treasury of Islamic philosophy but also provides psychospiritual solutions for building a meaningful and happiness
DECONSTRUCTING THE HISTORICITY OF THE QUR'AN JOHN WANSBROUGH'S PERSPECTIVE: A HERMENEUTIC STUDY OF ISLAMIC PHILOLOGICAL SUSPICION AND CRITICISM
This article discusses John Wansbrough's radical approach to viewing the Qur'ān as a historical construction that developed in the context of sectarian polemics between Jewish, Christian and proto-Muslim communities. Through a historical-critical approach, philological and literary analysis, Wansbrough rejects the traditional narrative of Qur'ānic revelation and codification agreed upon by the majority of Muslims. He treats the Qur'ān as the discursive product of early Muslim communities living within the theological, social and political dynamics of the Levant and Iraq. Employing a hermeneutic methodology of suspicion, Wansbrough emphasizes the importance of critiquing classical Islamic sources such as hadith and sirah, and tracing the Qur'ān's intertextuality with Biblical texts. This article uses a qualitative-descriptive approach based on a desk study of the works of Wansbrough and his followers, as well as responses from Muslim scholars. The results show that although Wansbrough's approach was highly controversial and widely rejected by Muslim scholars, his contribution opened up a new paradigm in the critical study of the Qur'ān in the Western academic world. THE SHIFTING RELIGIOUS AUTHORITY OF THE INDONESIAN ULEMA COUNCIL (MUI) IN THE DYNAMICS OF ISLAMIC DIGITALIZATION IN INDONESIA
The development of digital technology has changed the pattern of religious knowledge consumption in Indonesia and triggered the fragmentation of authority that was previously institutionalized and centralized. Data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) shows that internet penetration has reached 221 million users or 79.5% of the population, confirming the digital space as the main arena for religious interaction. In this context, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) as an official religious institution faces challenges in maintaining its legitimacy amid the rise of non-formal digital religious actors. This study aims to analyze the shift in religious authority in the digital society and evaluate the effectiveness of the MUI's official website (mui.or.id) as an authoritative channel. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the support of secondary quantitative data. The results show that the main preference of site users is for fatwa content (57.7%), followed by halal information (53.8%) and sharia economics (46.2%). The results of the analysis show that religious authority is now more decentralized and personalistic, challenged by the popularity of digital ustaz. Strengthening digital strategies, religious literacy, and cross-platform collaboration are key to maintaining the sustainability of the MUI's formal authority
THE ROLE OF LOCAL ULAMA IN BUILDING PEACE SOCIAL IN POST-CONFLICT AREAS
This article discusses the role of local clerics in building social peace in Sigi Regency, an area that is still experiencing post-conflict communal tensions. Conflicts that occurred in the past leave trauma and resentment, which are intergenerational inheritance in a hereditary way. In this situation, the ulama play a role as agents actualizing peace, moderate Islamic values through moderate and contextual da'wah. Research This approach uses qualitative methods with design studies, case studies, which rely on primary data from in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and field documentation. Research results show that scholars carry out three leading roles: as social mediators, preachers of peace, and guardians of the collective narrative. The da'wah strategy used participatory, dialogical, and cultural approaches, which proved effective in building social cohesion and care in the community. However, scholars also face various challenges, such as resistance from extreme groups, limitations on source power, and unresolved social trauma that has not fully recovered. Research confirms that the role of scholars in social reconciliation is vital, and the Wasathiyah da'wah strategy has the potential to be a big instrument for social transformation in post-conflict societies. UPAYA GURU UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KREATIVITAS MEMBACA TEKS PERCAKAPAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI SEKOLAH DASAR ALKHAIRAAT PENGAWU KOTA PALU
Students' creativity has not been fully facilitated, and learning is often not directed to instill Islamic values explicitly through reading texts. This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic Education values in building students' reading creativity in Indonesian language subjects. This research uses qualitative methods by using observation and interview data collection techniques. This research uses Miles and Huberman analysis. The results showed that the implementation of Islamic Education values in building reading creativity was carried out through reading habituation activities 10 minutes before learning, providing a reading corner with Islamic reading materials, and using Islamic varied and contextual learning methods. The strategy is effective in instilling values such as responsibility (amanah), honesty (shidq), cooperation (ta'awun), and love of knowledge (hubbul 'ilmPenelitian ini membahas tentang Upaya Guru Meningkatkan Kreativitas Membaca Teks Percakapan Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Kelas V Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Khairaat Pengawu Kota Palu. Permasalahan penelitian adalah 1) Bagaimana upaya guru meningkatkan kreativitas membaca teks percakapan? 2) Apa saja faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam meningkatkan kreativitas membaca teks percakapan? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menggunakan sumber data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) upaya guru meningkatkan kreativitas membaca teks percakapan pada pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia adalah membiasakan membaca buku sebelum memulai pelajaran, menyediakan pojok baca, menggunakan metode yang bervariasi. 2) Faktor Pendukung adalah penggunaan bahan ajar bergambar pada materi membaca teks percakapan, pemberian ice breaking, dan pendekatan yang digunakan disesuaikan dengan materi pembelajaran. Sedangkan faktor penghambat adalah kondisi lingkungan kelas yang kurang kondusif, kurangnya motivasi belajar peserta didik, metode pengajaran guru belum bervariasi
Adab Sosial Al-Ghazali dalam Bidayatul Hidayah: Solusi Interaksi Sosial Remaja di Era Modern
This study examines the relevance of Al-Ghazali's concept of social interaction in the book Bidayatul Hidayah as a solution to the challenges of adolescent social interaction in the digital era. Using a qualitative research method with a literature study approach, this study analyzes Al-Ghazali's teachings on social etiquette and ethics and their contextualization with the reality of modern adolescent social interaction. The results of the study indicate that Al-Ghazali's principles, such as being careful in interacting and avoiding useless conversations, have significant relevance in dealing with contemporary issues such as cyberbullying and social media addiction. Practical implementations of this concept include developing digital self-awareness, online communication ethics, and emotional management in digital interactions. In conclusion, the integration of Al-Ghazali's teachings into adolescent character education has the potential to create a more ethical and constructive model of social interaction in the digital era, while maintaining essential human values.Penelitian ini mengkaji relevansi konsep pergaulan Al-Ghazali dalam kitab Bidayatul Hidayah sebagai solusi untuk tantangan interaksi sosial remaja di era digital. Menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan, studi ini menganalisis ajaran Al-Ghazali tentang adab dan etika sosial serta kontekstualisasinya dengan realitas pergaulan remaja modern. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip Al-Ghazali, seperti kehati-hatian dalam berinteraksi dan menghindari percakapan tidak bermanfaat, memiliki relevansi signifikan dalam menghadapi isu-isu kontemporer seperti cyberbullying dan kecanduan media sosial. Implementasi praktis dari konsep ini meliputi pengembangan kesadaran diri digital, etika komunikasi online, dan manajemen emosi dalam interaksi digital. TRANSFORMING THE MENTALITY OF POVERTY INTO PHILANTHROPY THROUGH ZAKAT
Poverty is one of the chronic and complex social issues that has long been a concern in Indonesia. On the other hand, the phenomenon of "rich people feeling poor" also significantly contributes to worsening this problem. This study aims to formulate effective strategies within Islamic education to transform the poverty mentality into a philanthropic mindset. Employing the Arksey and O'Malley scoping review approach, this research emphasizes transparency and reliability in its findings through several stages: (1) formulating the research question, (2) selecting relevant studies, (3) mapping key data, and (4) compiling and reporting the results. The findings reveal that Islamic education plays a crucial role in transforming the poverty mentality by instilling values of independence, moral responsibility, and social solidarity. More importantly, Islamic education serves as a bridge to philanthropy by integrating religious teachings with ethical economic behavior. It promotes the practice of zakat, waqf, and other philanthropic acts not only as religious obligations but also as instruments of social justice and wealth redistribution. Through this integration, Islamic education fosters a culture of giving, empowers communities, and reduces socioeconomic gaps. The spiritual and moral values embedded in the educational process inspire individuals to actively contribute to collective welfare, making philanthropy a sustainable strategy in alleviating poverty rooted in mindset and social structure.
Kemiskinan merupakan salah satu masalah sosial kronis dan kompleks yang telah lama menjadi perhatian diindonesia. Disisi lain fenomena “orang kaya merasa miskin”juga sangat berkontribusi dalam memperburuk masalah ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi dalam pendidikan Islam yang efektif untuk membina mentalitas kemiskinan menjadi filantropis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Arksey dan O'Malley, yang menekankan transparansi serta memastikan reliabilitas temuan penelitian. Tahapan dalam proses ini meliputi: (1) merumuskan pertanyaan penelitian awal, (2) memilih studi yang akan dianalisis, (3) memetakan data, dan (4) menyusun, meringkas, serta melaporkan hasil. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Pendidikan Islam memainkan peran penting dalam mengubah mentalitas kemiskinan melalui penanaman nilai-nilai kemandirian, dukungan komunitas, dan tanggung jawab moral. Pendidikan ini menekankan pentingnya kerja keras, pengembangan keterampilan, serta distribusi kekayaan yang etis, yang secara kolektif berkontribusi pada pengentasan kemiskinan. Dukungan komunitas melalui praktik filantropis seperti zakat dan wakaf menciptakan jaring pengaman sosial, menumbuhkan budaya altruisme, dan mengurangi stigma terhadap kemiskinan. RECLAIMING EPISTEMIC UNITY THROUGH INTEGRATIVE SCIENTIFIC EDUCATION IN BEDIÜZZAMAN SAID NURSI’S MEDRESETÜ’Z-ZEHRA
This article explores Bediüzzaman Said Nursi’s vision of Medresetü’z-Zehra as a paradigm of integrative scientific education rooted in Islamic metaphysics and decolonial epistemology. Situated in the intellectual and political turmoil of late Ottoman and early Republican Turkey, Nursi’s educational proposal responds to the epistemic rupture caused by the secular-religious dualism imposed by Western modernity. Based on Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s theory of Islamization of knowledge and Edward Said’s critique of Western epistemic dominance, the article situates Medresetü’z-Zehra as a theological and postcolonial intervention. The research method used was qualitative with a hermeneutic approach. The results showed that Nursi’s educational model repositions scientific knowledge, especially rational and empirical disciplines, as spiritually meaningful when integrated with religious and humanistic sciences under the ontological unity of tawḥīd, seeking to produce scholars (ʿālim-rabbānī) who are intellectually integrated, morally anchored, and spiritually awakened. EPIGRAPHIC DISCOURSE IN UNDERSTANDING THE QUR’AN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF ROBERT HOYLAND
This article focuses on the study of Epigraphy used to understand the Qur'ān. This article introduces epigraphy as an approach to understanding the Qur'an. In general, this article has the main objectives, namely: First, to describe the epigraphic discourse used by Hoyland to understand the Qur'an. Second, criticizing the discourse factors that encourage the emergence of Epigraphy in understanding the Qur'an and Third, analyzing the implications of Robert Hoyland's Epigraphic discourse. This article uses qualitative research employing Teun A. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis theory to examine Robert Hoyland's social cognition in understanding the Qur'an through epigraphy. The results show that Epigraphy can be applied to understand the Qur'an by considering valid and credible evidence. Then the understanding of the Qur'an with Epigraphy is based on quite crucial factors, such as historical, continuity of the Qur'anic text, and interaction with other religions. In addition, Epigraphy also has implications for aspects of study, social, and practice. So that this article can be considered to have a contribution in the study of Al-Quran tafsir and multidisciplinary science
THE TYPICAL INTERPRETATION OF ISLAM NUSANTARA ON PLURALITY OF GUS MUWAFIQ PERSPECTIVE
Situationally and conditionally plural reality in Indonesia is not a new thing, but has long grown and developed and cultured in the archipelago. Something like this should have been exceeded by all of us. However, today, extremist movements are still entrenched which if left unchecked, will have fatal consequences for the nation's sovereignty. This research will discuss the concept of Gus Muwafiq's interpretation with the idea of his understanding in caring for the archipelago, through the approach of historicity and culturality of the archipelago typical of Indonesia. This research is a research with primary sources of Youtube videos and supported by related books and articles. The data in this study was collected by qualitative methods and using a phenomenological approach where the object of the phenomenon was Gus Muwafiq as an interpreter, in the context of answering the challenges of plurality in Indonesia. The results of this study show that Indonesia holds a big concept that comes from Islam itself, namely the concept of raiyyah (people) which is intended to be mutually responsible in building and caring for the nation. This idea is in line with the idea of inclusive theology and views that plurality is a reality that must be accepted absolutely.Realitas plural Secara situasional dan kondisional di Indonesia bukanlah hal yang baru, melainkan telah lama tumbuh berkembang dan membudaya di Nusantara. Hal seperti ini seharusnya sudah terlampaui oleh kita semua. Namun dewasa ini, gerakan-gerakan ekstrimisme masih tetap mengakar yang jika di biarkan akan berakibat fatal terhadap kedaulatan bangsa. Penelitian ini akan membahas konsep interpretasi Gus Muwafiq dengan gagasan pemahamannya dalam merawat bumi Nusantara ini, melalui pendekatan historisitas dan kulturalitas Nusantara khas ke-Indonesiaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan sumber primer video Youtube dan didukung oleh buku dan artikel terkait. Data pada penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan metode kualitatif dan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologis dimana yang menjadi objek fenonenanya adalah Gus Muwafiq sebagai interpretator, dalam konteks menjawab tantangan pluralitas yang ada di Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia memegang konsep besar yang berasal dari Islam Itu sendiri yaitu konsep raiyyah (rakyat) yang dimaksudkan untuk saling bertanggung jawab dalam membangun dan merawat bangsa. Gagasan tersebut sejalan dengan pemikiran teologi inklusif dan berpandangnan bahwa pluralitas merupakan suatu realitas yang harus diterima secara mutlak
