論 文 内 容 の 要 旨 
 
Sports are one of the potentials in economics. There is no research setting other than sports where 
we know the name, face, and life history of every production worker and supervisor in the industry 
(Kahn, 2000). Additionally, we also have access to detailed performance statistics, compensation 
records, and even datasets on the matching between workers and employers. These factors make 
sports an excellent laboratory to study human behavior in real competitive environments (Bar-Eli et 
al., 2020). Consequently, sports can offer rare moments of clarity to social scientists within an 
otherwise complex real world (Singleton et al., 2022). Leveraging this unique aspect of sports, this 
dissertation aims to answer economic issues with sports, instead of answering sports issues with 
economics. 
The interest of this dissertation is the worker evaluation and its effects on their behavior and 
wages. In the labor market, the evaluation forms the basis for hiring, compensation, and promotion. It 
is also connected to labor economics topics such as human resource management and wage 
discrimination. Recently, these topics have been expanded by behavioral economic perspectives, 
suggesting that biases such as prejudice and heuristics may lead to distorted worker evaluations 
(Bohren et al., 2023, 2022; Gauriot and Page, 2019). However, most of the evidence on biases in 
evaluations comes from experimental or case-study research. The lack of data covering worker 
performance and compensation restricts quantitative evidence in the field. 
This dissertation addresses these challenges by focusing on the labor market within professional 
sports. It presents three independent empirical studies that examine biases in woker evaluation and 
their effects on wages and behavior. The first chapter investigates the cognitive bias of 
over-evaluating luck in managerial decision-making in Major League Baseball: MLB. The second 
chapter explores how biased evaluations based on birth month in the hiring process affect wage 
profiles in Japanese professional baseball (Nippon Professional Baseball: NPB). The third chapter 
analyzes the impact of reference points in batting average, one of the most common evaluation 
indicators in baseball, on players' risk preferences, using play-by-play data from NPB. 
In the first chapter, I examine the outcome bias, which is an over-evaluation of random outcomes, 
by extracting a natural experimental setting from tracking data provided by MLB. The natural 
experimental setting is the situation where the hits fall near the wall, and we can assume that the 
outcome in this case is as good as random in that it is not correlated with unobservable agent action. 
The estimation results indicate that players who succeed in these random situations receive 
significantly higher evaluations from managers, with this effect lasting for at least 10 games. In 
addition, further analysis shows two types of heterogeneity in the outcome bias. First, there is 
heterogeneity by player race: outcome bias is larger and more persistent for white players compared 
to racial minorities. Second, there is heterogeneity by manager experience: more experienced 
managers exhibit a smaller and less persistent outcome bias. 
In the second chapter, I examine wage discrimination by birth month and its underlying mechanisms. 
While previous research has documented a wage gap associated with birth month (Kawaguchi, 2011; 
Larsen and Solli, 2017), it has left open the question of whether this gap reflects a disadvantage in 
skill development or actual labor discrimination. This research finds that the wage gap by birth month 
persists even after controlling for player performance, suggesting that discrimination is one of the 
channels linking birth month to the wage gap. Specifically, younger players within a cohort tend to 
receive 11% lower initial incomes due to lower evaluations in the hiring process. This initial 
underpayment stagnates subsequent income growth, explaining much of the observed wage 
discrimination. This phenomenon stems from biased hiring practices by NPB teams, which 
overestimate players' current skill levels rather than considering their potential growth trajectory at 
the recruitment. 
In the third chapter, we examine the behavioral changes around the reference point using 
pitch-by-pitch data provided by NPB. Previous research shows that in MLB, the relative frequency 
of a batting average - a widely recognized performance metric - has a notable peak at .300 and a dip 
at .299(Pope and Simonsohn, 2011). A similar discontinuity in NPB suggests that a .300 batting 
average serves as a reference point for players and could be a criterion for managers to evaluate 
player performance. Our findings reveal that players' swing probabilities shift around this reference 
point, likely to represent a reversal in risk preferences. The change in attitude toward the risk, which 
persists even when end-of-season data are excluded, may reflect players' loss aversion. However, 
since this behavior does not increase the number of hits, contracts that incentivize a .300 batting 
average are unlikely to benefit the team. 
 
論 文 審 査 結 果 の 要 旨 
 
本博士論文は、日本プロ野球（NPB）およびメジャーリーグベースボール（MLB）のデータを活用し、
労働経済学および行動経済学の視点から、評価バイアスや賃金格差を実証的に分析した 3つの独立
した研究で構成されている。 
第 1 章では、MLB における成果バイアスの影響を検証している。成果バイアスとは、ランダムな成功が
過大評価される傾向を指す。これまで、成果バイアスの存在については主に実験データや野球以外
のスポーツデータで検証されていたものの、バイアスの持続性や評価の異質性については十分に解
明されていなかった。本研究は、MLBの詳細なデータで識別できるフェンス近くのホームランというラン
ダム性の高い状況を活用することで、成果バイアスの検証を行い、さらに、その持続性や異質性につ
いて分析したところに新規性がある。分析の結果、ホームランを打った選手は次の試合でスタメン起用
される確率が高まることが明らかになった。このバイアスは約 10試合持続し、特に白人選手に対して顕
著である一方、監督の経験が豊富な場合には軽減されることも示された。 
第 2章では、NPBを対象に、誕生月が選手の賃金に与える影響を分析している。これまでの研究では、
学年内の相対的な年齢差が学力等の差を生むことや、所得格差につながることが指摘されていたもの
の、データの制約上、そのメカニズムは十分に検証されていなかった。本研究では、NPB における選
手の成績指標データを活用し、成績をコントロールした上でも誕生月による差異が年俸に残ること、そ
してその差異が初任給の格差で説明できることを示した点で既存研究に対して新規性を有している。
具体的には、1～3月生まれの選手は、4～6月生まれの選手に比べ、成績をコントロールしても年俸が
約 2％低いことが明らかになった。また、1～3月生まれの選手は初任給が約 11％低く評価されており、
これがキャリア全体の収入成長を停滞させる主要な要因であることが判明した。この要因として、チー
ムが選手の現在の能力を過大評価し、成長可能性を過小評価する採用バイアスが挙げられる。 
第 3章では、打率 3割という基準値が選手の行動に与える影響を検証している。これまでの研究では、
MLB において打率が 3 割付近で非連続的な分布を示す現象が明らかにされ、打率 3 割が行動経済
学における参照点として機能していることが示唆されていた。本研究では、NPB における打率の分布
においても同様の非連続性を確認し、さらに新たな知見として、参照点を挟んだリスク選好の反転を実
証的に明らかにした。具体的には、打率 3割に僅かに届かない選手はリスク愛好的な傾向を示し、スイ
ング確率が通常よりも上昇する一方で、打率 3 割を僅かに超える選手はリスク回避的な傾向を示し、ス
イング確率が通常よりも低下する。この行動変容は打率を 3割台に調整する点において一定の効果が
あるものの、結果的にパフォーマンスの向上には寄与しない。この結果は、固定的な基準値をインセン
ティブとすることが非効率性をもたらす可能性を示唆している。 
本論文は、プロスポーツというユニークな環境を活用し、ランダム要素や評価バイアスが賃金や選手行
動に与える影響を実証的に解明している。これにより、労働経済学および行動経済学の分野に新たな
知見をもたらしている点で学術的意義が高い。以上の理由から、本論文は博士（経済学）の学位を授
与するに十分であると判断する。

第１章 序論 
本章では，本論文の背景と研究の目的を述べる．産業界では，複雑化する課題への対応や競争力の
維持を目的として，組合せ最適化を中心とした最適化技術の活用が急速に進んでいる．一方，組合せ
最適化における課題として，問題のサイズが大きくなると厳密な解を得るために必要な計算コストが
急増し，現実的な時間内で解を求めることが難しくなることが知られている．このため，最適性を犠
牲にした上で高速に計算を行う近似的な解法が求められている．遺伝的アルゴリズムやシミュレーテ
ッドアニーリングなどの手法は，解の探索空間を大域的に探索し，幅広い問題に対して近似的な解を
見つけるための汎用的な手法として知られているが，近年は量子力学的な現象を利用して解の探索を
行う量子アニーリング（QA）という手法が注目されている．さらに，QA の派生形として注目されて
いるのがリバースアニーリング（RA）である．通常の QA が大域的に探索するのに対して，RA は予
め与えられた初期状態の周辺を局所的に探索する．これにより，既存の解をベースに，さらに洗練さ
れた解を効率的に見つけることが可能である．この手法は，既にある程度最適解に近い初期状態が得
られている場合に特に効果的であり，問題によっては QA よりも効率的に最適解にたどり着くことが
できることが示されている．この特性により，RA は QA の性能を向上させるための重要な手法とし
て注目されている． 
本研究は，リソース運用における最適化問題に対して QA の応用範囲を拡張し，その特性を活かし
た効率的な計算手法を構築することを目的としている．具体的には，QA を適用するための問題定式
化の検討に加え，RA を導入することで，通常の QA よりも性能を向上させることを追究する点に主
眼を置く． 
 
第２章 組合せ最適化と量子アニーリング 
本章では，本論文で扱う研究分野や先行手法を概説した上で，QA の基本原理とD-Wave Systems
社が開発進める QA のハードウェア（以降，D-Wave マシンと呼ぶ．）に関して説明する．組合せ最適

化問題は，離散的な値を取る変数の組合せを探索し，目的関数を最小化または最大化する最適解を探
す問題である．計算複雑性理論の観点からは，多くの組合せ最適化問題がNP 困難な問題クラスに分
類され，多項式時間で解くことができるアルゴリズムは存在しないと信じられているため，高速に近
似的な解を得るために近似アルゴリズムやヒューリスティクスが模索されてきた．これらの手法の中
でも，幅広い問題に対して適用可能なメタヒューリスティクスは実用的に重要なアプローチとして位
置づけられており，シミュレーテッドアニーリングやタブーサーチ，遺伝的アルゴリズムなどが代表
的な手法として知られている． 
QA は，シミュレーテッドアニーリングで用いられる熱ゆらぎを量子ゆらぎに置き換えることで，
イジング模型の基底状態を探索し，組合せ最適化問題を解くことを試みるメタヒューリスティクスで
ある．初期状態は全ての状態が等確率で重ね合わさった自明な基底状態であり，横磁場を徐々に弱め
ることで，最終的には問題に対応するハミルトニアンの基底状態へ到達を試みる．この過程は量子断
熱定理に基づくが，複雑な問題では有限時間内で確実に最適解を得ることは難しいことが示されてい
る．しかし，既存の古典的手法とは異なる原理を利用するという特徴から，新たなヒューリスティク
スとして期待されている． 
RA は，QA の発展的手法であり，古典的な初期状態を利用してその近傍で最適解を探索する方法で
ある．通常の QA では全域的な探索が中心となり，古典的な初期状態を入力することを前提としない
が，RA はある程度良好な解を得られる初期状態が分かっている場合には，その解を初期状態に利用
することができる．初期状態を設定する際には，基底状態に持つようなハミルトニアンを導入するア
プローチや，励起状態として初期化するアプローチをとり，問題によっては高速化や探索性能の向上
が期待できる．理論解析の一例として p スピン模型では，最適解に近い初期状態を用いると一次相転
移に伴うエネルギーギャップの急激な減少を回避できる可能性が示されている． 
D-Wave マシンは，超伝導技術を利用した量子ビットとその相互作用を物理的に実装した装置であ
り，物理的に QA を実行するプロセッサを内蔵している．各量子ビット間の結合が疎なため，一般的
なイジングモデルをそのまま実装することは難しく，マイナー埋め込みと呼ばれる手法で論理変数を
実際の量子ビットに対応付ける必要がある．この冗長化された量子ビットの連なりをチェーンと呼び，
値が揃う必要がある．しかし，計算結果として得られるサンプルではチェーンが破れることも多く，
後処理によって解の修復や改善を行うのが実用上の基本的な流れである．性能評価には，最適解との
エネルギー差を表す残留エネルギーや，ある確率で最適解を得るまでに要する平均時間を評価する
Time-to-solution (TTS) などの指標が用いられる． 
 
第３章 無人搬送車における経路最適化とリバースアニーリングの適用 
本章では，無人搬送車 (AGV) の効率的な経路選択のための最適化手法を提案し，その中で RA を
適用した結果について述べる．QA の産業応用を目指した研究が活発に行われている中でも，AGV の
制御は QA の活用に成功した例の一つである．本研究では，複数の AGV に対して移動時間を最小化
する定式化を提案する． 仮想的な環境でのシミュレーションにより，全体的な迂回距離を考慮しない
ベースライン手法である貪欲法に比べて効率的な搬送を実現することを示す．さらに，D-Wave マシ
ンの特徴を最大限に活かすため，RA の適用法も提案する．まずは高速な貪欲法により比較的良質な
解を得たうえで，その近傍をRA によって探索し，洗練された解を得る． 提案手法では，通常の QA
単体の場合と比較して性能が向上し，さらに商用ソルバーである Gurobi Optimizer より最大 10 倍高
速に最適化可能であることを確認した． 本研究は，AGV システムにおいて最適化の適用範囲を拡張

するとともに，QA の中でもRA の有用性を最適化性能と実用性の観点から示すものである． 
 
第４章 都市型エアモビリティの経路・スケジュール最適化への応用 
本章では，都市型エアモビリティ (UAM) の経路・スケジュール最適化へ QA を応用し，シミュレ
ーションによってその性能を評価する．都市交通の混雑やそれに伴う環境的・経済的影響を背景に，
UAM の開発が加速している．UAM を用いた都市域での輸送や配送では，近い将来に高密度の航空
交通が予想されるため，安全かつ効率的な運用を行うための高度な管理が不可欠である．本章では，
都市部で稼働する多数のUAM 機体を想定し，ルーティングおよびスケジューリングのフレームワー
クを提案する．整数計画法による最適化モデルを解くことで，大規模な機体のフライトを効率的かつ
衝突のないように計画する．具体的には，ルーティングを重み付き最大独立点集合問題として定式化
し，この種の問題に対して QA を含む多様なアルゴリズムの活用を可能にする．提案手法の有効性を
示すため，シンガポールの空域を想定した無人機交通管理シミュレータを用いて性能を検証する．本
手法は広範囲にわたって交通密度を分散化し，空域の利用効率を高める効果を示した．本研究は，
UAM 交通管理における最適化技術の活用範囲を拡大する可能性を示すものである． 
 
第５章 線形計画緩和とリバースアニーリングを用いた二値制約付き非負値行列分解 
本章では，二値制約付き非負値行列分解における線形計画緩和とRA を組み合わせた手法を提案し，
その性能を評価する．QA は，量子力学に着想を得たメタヒューリスティクスとして組合せ最適化問
題への応用が期待されているが，数ある応用先の中でも，二値制約付き非負値行列分解は教師無し機
械学習の分野で重要かつ複雑な問題の一つである．初期状態近傍を重点的に探索する QA の派生手法
である RA は，行列分解における最適化性能を向上させることが先行研究によって報告されている．
本研究では，与えられた初期状態の近傍探索を優先的に行う RA の特性を活用し，行列分解における
最適化性能を高める手法を提案する．顔画像データセットに対する実験の結果，RA を用いる従来手
法に比べて，提案手法はより良い収束性能を示すことが明らかとなった．また，乱数生成したデータ
セットに対して緩和による初期化手法を適用することで，緩和解と最適解の関係を考察し，その有効
性を確認した．以上の結果から，RA と古典的な最適化技術を組み合わせる可能性を示し，QA におけ
る最適化性能の向上を実現する新たな方策を示唆する． 
 
第６章 結論 
本章では，本論文を総括した上で，今後の展望を述べる．本論文では，QA，特にRA の特徴を活用
し，古典的なアルゴリズムと組み合わせることで，リソース運用における最適化問題に対してより効
率的に解を導き得る手法を提案し，評価を行った．RA では，予め与えられた古典的な初期状態を基
軸として探索を進めるため，古典手法による解の質が QA の性能に影響を与える．本論文では，その
特性を踏まえて RA を複数の応用例に導入し，古典手法と RA を複合したアプローチが QA 単体より
も最適化性能を向上させることを示した． 
QA の産業応用を進めるうえでは，対応可能な問題の範囲や得られる解の精度が課題となるが，ハ
ードウェアの性能が今後大きく向上する可能性とともに，アルゴリズムの検討が一層重要となる．RA
を活用して古典的な最適化や線形計画緩和などと連携させるアプローチは，QA の探索能力を引き出
す方策として有望であり，その性能評価や適用範囲の拡大が今後の研究課題となる． 
論 文 審 査 結 果 の 要 旨 
 
本論文は量子アニーリングを応用する広範囲の課題についてそれぞれの課題ごとに適切な定式化と
計算手法を開発して適用した研究成果についてまとめたものである。 
１章では、序論として現代の産業における最適化技術の重要性と、従来の手法が抱える課題につい
て述べている。特に、NP 困難な組合せ最適化問題における量子アニーリングの可能性と、リバースア
ニーリングの応用について議論している。 
２章では、リソースの運用最適化と、それを解決するための量子アニーリング技術について解説し
ている。量子アニーリングの基礎理論、断熱定理、リバースアニーリングの特性を詳述し、現状の課
題とその可能性を論じている。 
3 章では、AGV の効率的な運用における経路最適化問題を取り上げている。量子アニーリングとリ
バースアニーリングを適用し、シミュレーションを通じてその効果を検証している。提案手法によ
り、従来の課題であった余分な移動距離を削減し、搬送効率の向上を達成したことを報告している。 
4 章では、都市型エアモビリティ（UAM）のフリート管理における経路とスケジュールの最適化を扱
い、シミュレーションを通じて、提案手法が運用効率を改善し、安全かつ効率的な UAM 運用を可能に
することを示している 
5 章では、連続変数と二値変数を同時に含む非負値行列分解の問題にリバースアニーリングを適用
する手法を提案している。この手法により、従来手法が抱えていた連続変数を含む問題への適用困難
性を克服し、効率的かつ高精度な解を得ることが可能であることを実証した。 
6 章は、研究成果を総括し、今後の展望を示している。 
審査の結果、本論文はリソース運用最適化における量子アニーリングの新たな応用可能性を開拓した
点で独創性と実用性を兼ね備えていると評価する。特にエアモビリティの最適化については、その定
式化においてグラフ理論の知見、典型的な組合せ最適化問題への帰着、量子アニーリングに有力な形
式での定式化に成功し、その有効性は世界的に見ても顕著な成果である。 
これらの結果を総合して、本論文は、羽場廉一郎氏に博士（情報科学）の学位論文として合格と認
める。

論文内容の要旨 
 
 
【Background and Objectives】 
Root-nodule symbiosis between leguminous plants and rhizobia is a critical process for sustainable agriculture, 
where plants provide carbon sources to rhizobia, and in return, rhizobia convert atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia 
for plant utilization. This mutualistic relationship is initiated by molecular signals such as flavonoids released by the 
plant, which induce the synthesis of nodulation factors (NFs) in rhizobia. These NFs are recognized by plant receptors 
(NFRs), triggering nodule development. In addition to the NF-mediated signaling, surface polysaccharides, including 
exopolysaccharides (EPS), lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and capsular polysaccharides (KPS), also play vital roles in 
establishing and maintaining symbiosis. These surface signals contribute to the plant's ability to distinguish between 
compatible and incompatible rhizobial partners. Furthermore, the type III secretion system (T3SS) is employed by 
both the host plant and rhizobia to carefully select symbiotic partners. T3SS is a specialized protein secretion 
mechanism used by bacteria, including rhizobia, to deliver effector proteins directly into host plant cells. These T3SS-
delivered effectors modulate plant immune responses and influence nodulation. On the other hand, plants can 
recognize these effectors and activate defense mechanisms to exclude incompatible rhizobial strains and ensure the 
selection of beneficial symbionts. As a result, the effect of T3SS effector proteins is context-dependent, either 
promoting or inhibiting symbiosis depending on the combination of interaction. One such effector, NopM, is identified 
in several rhizobial strains, including Bradyrhizobium elkanii USDA61, and is predicted to function as an E3 ubiquitin 
ligase that function in the ubiquitination process. In the interaction between B. elkanii USDA61 and a model legume 
species, Lotus japonicus, it was reported that early senescence of nodule is induced by NopM dependent manner. 
However, the precise mechanisms by which NopM affects symbiosis process remain poorly understood. This study 
aims to explore the structural and functional roles of B. elkanii USDA61 NopM in the rhizobial symbiosis with L. 
japonicus, to further our understanding of how NopM influences symbiotic outcomes. 
【Results and Discussion】 
1. Structural and functional analysis of NopM using domain-deletion mutants in interaction with L. japonicus 
MG-20 and L. burttii 
It was reported that NopM contains two functional domains: a leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain and a novel E3 
ubiquitin ligase domain (NEL), and I confirmed these two domains on NopM of B. elkanii USDA61 by amino acid 
sequence alligment. To elucidate the roles of these domains in symbiotic interaction with L. japonicus, I constructed 
various NopM domain-deletion mutants (BEΔnopM-LRR, BEΔnopM-LRRa, and BEΔnopM-NEL), and performed 
inoculation experiments with these mutants, along with wild-type B. elkanii USDA61 (WT), a T3SS disruptant 
(BEΩrhcJ), and a nopM disruptant (BEΩnopM), on MG-20 and L. burttii. 
Inoculation with WT strain induced the formation of white (immature) and brownish (senescent) nodules in 
both MG-20 and L. burttii. Additionally, in L. burttii, where maturation inhibition was induced by the T3SS effector 
other than NopM, an increase in nodule number was observed. Inoculation with BEΩrhcJ and BEΩnopM, on the other 
hand, led to the formation of pink (mature) nodules and a marked reduction in brownish nodules as reported by 
Kusakabe et al. (2020). Inoculation with all of the constructed NopM domain-deletion mutants exhibited a reduction 
in the number of brownish nodules and an increase in the number of pink nodules, similar to the phenotypes observed 
with BEΩnopM strains, indicating that both of the LRR and NEL domains are involved in triggering the senescence-
like response. Notably, when compared in detail with the phenotype observed during BEΩnopM inoculation, a small 
number of brownish nodules were observed in inoculation with the BEΔnopM-LRR and BEΔnopM-LRRa in MG-20. 
Furthermore, significant increase in the number of brownish nodules and a decrease in the number of pink nodules 
were observed in inoculation of L. burttii with all domain-deletion mutants, and this trend was pronounced in the 
mutants lacking the LRR domain. This result suggests that both the LRR and NEL domains may independently induce 
the early senescence-like response, although to a lesser extent than NopM.  
2. Transcriptome based analysis of host responses triggered by NopM  
To elucidate the molecular mechanism of the early-senescence-like response induced by NopM, transcriptome 
analysis was performed on the MG-20 line inoculated with the WT, BEΩnopM, and BEΩrhcJ strains. RNA-seq 
analysis revealed 996 genes were found to have an increased expression level after inoculation with BEΩnopM and 
BEΩrhcJ strains, and 1587 genes exhibited decreased expression after inoculation with BEΩnopM and BEΩrhcJ 
strains. The genes commonly upregulated in both BEΩnopM and BEΩrhcJ strains were linked to essential processes 
for nodule maturation and nitrogen fixation, such as carbohydrate, ion, and nutrient transport, leghemoglobin, 
glutamine dumper protein 5-like, and homocitrate synthase, indicating nodule maturation is prevented by NopM. In 
contrast, genes downregulated in both BEΩnopM and BEΩrhcJ inoculations, compared to WT, were play pivotal 
roles in plant defense, including thaumatin-like proteins (TLPs), NBS-LRR resistance proteins, and WRKY 
transcription factors. The reduced expression of these genes suggests that NopM may trigger plant defense by 
activating effector-triggered immunity (ETI), leading to a hypersensitive response (HR) in infected nodule cells, 
which in turn induces nodule senescence, even in immature stages. 
To explore the functional roles of LRR and NEL domains of NopM on the basis of gene expression, deletion 
mutants BE△nopM-LRR and BE△nopM-NEL were analyzed using qRT-PCR. For the qRT-PCR analysis, genes 
related to plant defense that showed significant changes in expression between WT inoculation and BEΩnopM and 
BEΩrhcJ inoculation were selected, i.e. receptor-like protein 12-like, WRKY70-like, TLP, and TLP-PR5a. As a result 
of the qRT-PCR analysis, when the expression levels of WT inoculation were used as a baseline, the expression levels 
of BEΩnopM inoculation were significantly decreased for all the genes analyzed, confirming the accuracy of the 
transcriptome analysis. On the other hand, in the inoculation with partial deletion mutants, no significant decrease in 
expression was observed for any gene compared to the expression levels of WT inoculation, suggesting that the two 
functional domains of NopM may independently induce a defense response. When comparing between domains, it 
was revealed that for three genes, excluding WRKY70-like, the expression levels were higher in BE△nopM-LRR 
inoculation, indicating that the presence of the NEL domain might induce a stronger defense response than the 
presence of the LRR domain.   
【Conclusion】 
This study explores the structural and functional roles of NopM and its domains in the rhizobial symbiosis 
between B. elkanii USDA61 and L. japonicus. By using domain based deletion mutants, I confirmed both of LRR and 
NEL domains play a crucial role in triggering early-senescence response, while each domain can function 
independently as early-senescence was observed compared to the complete deletion mutant. Transcriptome analysis 
using nopM deletion mutants indicated NopM trigger ETI, leading to HR and the cell death of infected cells could be 
resulted in early senescence in L. japonicus nodules, Additionally, both domains independently induce defense 
responses, with the NEL domain eliciting a stronger response.

 細胞内への根粒菌の受け入れを伴うマメ科植物と根粒菌の共生系において、正しい共生相手を選
択するための相互認識機構は重要な役割を果たしている。そのような宿主特異性を決める分子機構
の一つとして、根粒菌が持つ TypeIII 分泌系(T3SS)が近年着目されている。根粒菌の T3SS により
分泌されるエフェクターの機能は、共生促進の効果や、逆に宿主による effector triggered immunity 
(ETI) を引き起こすことによる挿入阻害の反応を中心に研究が進められており、根粒菌を受け入れる
という特殊化した器官である根粒細胞におけるエフェクターを介した相互作用については未解明で
あった。 
 CUI YING さんは、当研究室の日下部により見出された Bradyrhizobium elkanii USDA61 株 
(USDA61 株)とミヤコグサの相互作用時に、USDA61 株の NopM エフェクターにより、根粒の早期老
化の現象に着目し、根粒細胞内で起こる T3SS エフェクターと宿主植物の相互作用の解析を行った。
E3-ユビキチンリガーゼの活性を持つ NopM の 2 つの機能ドメイン LRR と NEL の機能が根粒の早
期老化現象の誘導に果たす役割を解析する目的で、それぞれ一方のドメインを欠失した変異体株を
作製し、接種実験を行った。その結果、いずれのドメインを欠失した場合も、早期老化のレベルが著
しく下がることから、どちらのドメインも根粒細胞内での相互作用に必要であることを見出し、ター
ゲットを絞った NopM によるユビキチン化が早期老化のシグナルになっていることを明らかとした。
加えて、NopM 欠損株および T3SS 機構の欠損株の接種時の RNA-seq 解析により、NopM により根粒
細胞内で ETI が誘導されており、その結果として根粒の感染細胞の細胞死が誘導されている可能性
を示唆するデータを得た。このことから、分化した根粒細胞においても基本的な免疫反応が維持され
ているとこを示すことに成功した。 
 
これらの研究成果は、博士論文提出者が自立して研究活動を行うのに必要な高度の研究能力と学識
を有することを示している。したがって、CUI YING さん提出の論文は，博士（生命科学）の学位論

Chapter 1 Introduction 
Analyzing spatial data is essential for understanding spatial phenomena and uncovering the complex 
interactions among factors related to the formation process. Consistent with data analysis in general, spatial data 
analysis mainly applies quantification methods, such as a linear regression model, to measure relationships 
between any object of interest and its associated factors in geographical space. However, the distinct 
characteristics of spatial data sets require a different perspective and special methodologies for analysis. One of 
the most fundamental characteristics of spatial data is spatial heterogeneity, which means that the process that 
generates spatial phenomena is inconsistent in space. Various approaches, such as spatially varying coefficients 
(SVC) models, have been proposed to characterize spatial heterogeneity. However, one aspect that has long been 
ignored in the current research field is the heterogeneity in the probability distribution of spatial data. For 
instance, buyers of high- and low-priced houses may value housing attributes like property size and living 
environment differently, leading to varying effects of these factors at different price levels. Neglecting the 
variability across other levels of data distribution can hinder a comprehensive understanding of the underlying 
relationships in the spatial data. 
To fill this research gap, this study aims to develop a novel methodology for spatial data analysis to consider 
the heterogeneity in both geographical space and data distribution. This study develops two novel approaches 
based on the Moran eigenvector-based spatially varying coefficients (MSVC) model which uses Moran 
eigenvectors (MEs) to capture multiscale spatial heterogeneity efficiently. First, the Moran eigenvector-based 
spatially varying quantile regression (MSVQR) model is developed to analyze individual-level spatial data by 
integrating MSVC with conditional quantile regression (CQR). It estimates location- and quantile-specific 
coefficients, enabling insights into heterogeneity across geographical space and continuous data distribution. The

second approach extends MSVC within the compositional data analysis (CoDa) framework to model aggregated 
spatial data. This method captures spatial heterogeneity and distributional changes through relative ratios of 
aggregated categories. The proposed methodologies were evaluated through simulation experiments and applied 
to empirical datasets, including rental housing prices and household income data in Tokyo, Japan. 
 
Chapter 2 Literature Review 
This chapter reviews previous research addressing spatial heterogeneity and the heterogeneity in data 
distribution, respectively. As this study primarily focuses on multiscale continuous spatial heterogeneity, this 
chapter first compares different SVC models, which are the main approaches in this field. This chapter 
emphasizes the superiority of the MSVC model in terms of the ability to address multiple scales and the 
computational efficiency compared to other SVC models. Next, this chapter introduces CQR, the dominant 
approach for addressing heterogeneity in continuous data distribution, and its previous applications. We further 
introduce CoDa, which can potentially address the gap in handling the distribution of aggregated spatial data. 
 
Chapter 3 Basic Models 
This chapter delves into the technical details of MSVQR, CQR, and CoDa, which form the foundation of the 
methodology proposed in this study. This chapter begins with the theory of MEs, which serves as the basis for 
the MSVC model. We then provide details of the model specifications of MSVC and the selection of MEs for 
capturing the multiple scales of spatial heterogeneity. Next, this chapter introduces how CQR cosiders the 
heterogeneity of data distribution by regressing on multiple conditional quantiles. This section highlights the 
difference between CQR and conventional linear regression. Moreover, this chapter introduces CoDa, including 
the principles of handling compositional structure and modeling approaches based on the orthonormal log-ratio 
(olr) transformation. 
 
Chapter 4 Analyzing Heterogeneity in Geographical Space and Data Distribution: A Continuous Perspective 
In this chapter, we develop the MSVQR model by combining MSVC with CQR to analyze heterogeneity 
across geographical space and continuous data distribution. This chapter first provides the mathematical details 
of MSVQR and explains the estimation of SVC at multiple quantiles to address these two types of heterogeneity. 
In addition, we introduce a bootstrap technique for statistical inference of the model estimates. Next, this chapter 
presents a simulation study that uses 100 simulated datasets generated in a two-dimensional spatial region. The 
objective is to compare MSVQR with previously established methods and assess the effect of eigenvector 
selection on MSVQR estimation. Finally, this chapter features a case study using rental apartment price data to 
demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed MSVQR model. 
 
Chapter 5 Analyzing Heterogeneity in Geographical Space and Data Distribution: A Compositional Perspective 
Creating a continuous distribution to obtain any particular distribution level is difficult for aggregated data 
where individual information is unknown. To address this issue, in this chapter, we focus on relative ratios 
between aggregated categories to reflect the changes in the whole data distribution rather than only focusing on 
the average level. This chapter first develops the MSVC-based CoDa model for analyzing two types of 
heterogeneity. We provide a generalized version of the proposed model for the case that both dependent and

independent variables have a compositional structure. Furthermore, this chapter presents a simulation experiment 
that evaluates the performances of the proposed model and investigates the compatibility of olr transformation 
and the selection of MEs. In addition, this chapter presents the application of the proposed model to analyze 
annual household income in Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. 
 
Chapter 6 Conclusions 
This chapter summarizes this study and discusses the limitations we will address in future work.

空間データ分析は、社会経済現象をはじめとする多様な空間現象の形成過程を理解する上で重要で
ある。既往の分析手法は、空間データが有する性質の 1 つである、地理空間上およびデータ分布上の
位置に依って空間現象の形成過程が異なることを考慮できないため、偏りのある推定結果に基づく誤
った地域特性解釈を産む可能性があった。著者は、この 2 種類の異質性を同時に分析可能な手法の開
発を通し、地域・都市政策の決定に対して有効な根拠を提供するための研究に取り組んできた。本論
文は、その成果をまとめたもので、全編 6 章からなる。 
第 1 章は序論である。 
第 2 章では、先行研究を整理する。空間的異質性分析に関して、その空間スケール把握に対する性
能と計算効率の観点から、Moran 固有ベクトルに基づく空間的可変係数（MSVC）モデルの優位性を
強調する。また、連続データと階級データそれぞれの分布に関する異質性に対処する条件付き分位点
回帰（CQR）と組成データ分析（CoDa）を紹介する。 
第 3 章では、本研究の基盤となる MSVC、CQR、CoDa の技術的詳細について紹介する。 
第 4 章では、MSVC に基づく分位点回帰（MSVQR）モデルを提案する。MSVC と CQR を統合した
本手法は、地理空間上および連続データ分布上の異質性を分析することができる。シミュレーション
実験を通して、MSVQR は従来手法よりも空間変動を正確に識別する性能を有し、特に局所的な空間
変動の把握能力が高いことを確認した。東京都区部の集合住宅賃料分析への適用では、賃料決定要因
の影響が地域や賃料水準により異なることを明らかにし、提案手法の有効性を確認した。 
第 5 章では、MSVC に基づく CoDa モデルを提案する。MSVC と CoDa を統合した本手法は、地理
空間上および階級データ分布形状の異質性を分析することができる。シミュレーション実験を通し
て、本手法は従来の CoDa よりも高い推定精度を有することを確認した。東京都・市区町別の年間世
帯所得の階級データ分析への適用では、所得階級割合への影響が市区町毎に異なることを明らかに
し、提案手法の有効性を確認した。 
第 6 章は結論である。 
以上のように、本論文は、地理空間上とデータ分布に関する異質性を同時に把握する新規性の高い
手法を開発しており、地理情報科学分野の発展に寄与するものである。 
よって、本論文は、博士（情報科学）の学位論文として合格と認める。
