With the rapid pace of technological advancements and the high-pressure environment characteristic of the IT sector, burnout has emerged as a significant concern, affecting not only individual employees' mental and physical health but also organizational productivity and success. The primary objectives of this review were to identify the state of employee well-being in the IT industry, evaluate the current and potential future strategies for burnout prevention, and offer strategic directions for fostering a healthier workplace. Data were sourced from a comprehensive search across multiple academic and professional databases, focusing on studies published in English from 2000 to 2024 The inclusion criteria targeted research explicitly related to well-being initiatives in the IT sector, resulting in a selection of empirical studies, review articles, and grey literature for analysis.Key findings indicate a prevalent issue of burnout among IT professionals, driven by unique industry challenges. However, initiatives such as flexible work arrangements, leadership development, mental health support, and the use of AI for personalized well-being interventions show promise in mitigating these effects. The study concludes that fostering a culture of well-being and resilience within the IT industry requires a multifaceted approach, emphasizing the need for organizational commitment to employee health and continuous adaptation of well-being strategies to meet evolving workforce needs.

Effects of trade liberalization and institutional quality on economic growth in Nigeria
Get PDFThis study examined the effects of trade liberalization and institutional quality on economic growth in Nigeria from 1985 to 2023, using the vector error correction model (VECM) technique: Granger causality, impulse response function (IRF) and Forecast error variance decomposition (FEVD) approaches in line with the study objectives. The study was anchored on the endogenous growth theory, as trade liberalization and institutional quality goes with human innovation and creativity. The data used in this study were sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin, National Bureau of Statistics and World Bank Development Indicators. The variables used include real GDP, the dependent variable and a measure for economic growth; average import tariff (AIT), the dependent variable and a proxy for trade liberalization. Other variables used include institutional quality, foreign direct investment, remittances, gross fixed capital formation, exchange rate, financial development and labor force. The findings revealed that: average import tariff (AIT) has a significant negative impact on real GDP in Nigeria in the long-run; quality of institutions has significant impact on real GDP in Nigeria; average import tariff (AIT) granger causes real GDP in Nigeria; shocks to average import tariff (AIT) influences the trends of real GDP in Nigeria. This study therefore, recommended the removal of bottlenecks by the Nigerian Custom Service in clearing of goods imported into Nigeria, appropriate duty specification, strengthening of institutions and regulatory reforms, and stabilization of tariff regime in order to realize the benefits of trade liberalization and good quality of institutions on economic growth in Nigeria.

Community-based tourism homestay model: a study in Lao Cai Province, Vietnam
Get PDFSince the development of homestays, the lives of people in the villages offering this service have significantly improved. Ethnic minorities have recognized the importance of their cultural heritage in the process of tourism development in their villages. Several new community-based tourism sites, such as Ta Van Chu (Bac Ha district), Cat Cat (Sa Pa town), and Cao Son (Muong Khuong district), have been established and proven effective. On average, the number of tourists visiting Lao Cai province exceeds one million each year. Besides generating income, the homestay model has created an environment for the revival and development of certain traditional crafts of ethnic minorities in Lao Cai. Many national and international organizations have helped localities in the province to "revitalize" some traditional industries. For example, Craft Link has supported the Dao ethnic people (Ta Phin commune) and the Mong ethnic people (Hoang Lien commune, Sa Pa town) in developing the Brocade Club, creating jobs for nearly 100 Mong and Dao women. The International Labour Organization, in collaboration with the Vietnam Institute for Rural Crafts Development, has supported the establishment of five pilot craft models serving tourism in Sa Pa, providing direct employment for over 100 ethnic minority households.
