Efter en redogörelse av Rumis dikt, presenteras representationer av Iblis och MuÊ¿awiyah från olika muslimska traditioner vilka sedan relateras till motiven i Rumis text. Jag redogör kort för olika tolkningar av berättelsen om Iblis och MuÊ¿awiyah, för att slutligen föreslå en läsning som tar till vara den ambivalens som dikten bär
Unge mænd mellem homosocialitet og homoseksualitet
Get PDFI artiklen drøftes unge mænds sociale omgangsformer og intimitet i en senmoderne dansk kontekst. Artiklen tager konkret afsæt i essayet Mikkels pik. En beretning om venskab og kønsorganer, hvor den ene forfatter har berettet om et slæng af sine mandevenner og deres begejstring for en af gutternes lem, som af og til bliver vist frem, berøres og tages i munden af de andre. I artiklen, som er formet som en mailkorrespondance mellem de to forfattere, drøftes spørgsmålet om, hvorvidt mandefællesskabets samvær â og intimitet og socialitet mellem mænd mere generelt â i dag er betinget af en streng heteronormativ og homofobisk ramme eller om denne baggrundsramme er under opløsning i disse år på grund af et mere afdramatiseret forhold til homoseksualitet. Den anden forfatter argumenterer for et mere sanselig-fænomenologisk blik på mandefællesskabet, der anlægger et bredere perspektiv på lyst og interesser mellem mænd, seksualitet og kønsforhold â og som måske også bedre kan indfange mulige nybrud og aktuelle forandringstendenser i unge mænds intimitet og omgangsformer. Som afslutning peges på behovet for forskellige perspektiver og mere forskning til at belyse og indfange kompleksiteten i unge mænds homosociale samvær og de intimitetsformer, der lader sig registrere i ungdomskulturen i disse år
Et fast punkt for klimaet? Vitenskap og politikk i den svarte âBali-boksenâ
Get PDFVår forståelse av klimaendringene domineres av tall og naturvitenskapelig kunnskap. Selv om både forskere og beslutningstakere ønsker et tett forhold mellom vitenskap og politikk, for eksempel gjennom FNs klimapanel, forutsetter de fleste aktører at disse to sfærene opererer adskilt fra hverandre. Gjennom en nærmere undersøkelse av en enkelt faktaboks i FNs klimapanels fjerde hovedrapport, utfordrer vi i denne artikkelen den puristiske forestillingen om et klart skille mellom vitenskap og politikk. Den såkalte âBali-boksenâ fikk en framtredende rolle i forhandlingene om en ny internasjonal klimaavtale fram mot København-toppmøtet i 2009, fordi den ble ansett å gi et vitenskapelig og kvantifisert svar på spørsmålet om fordeling av ansvar for klimaendringer mellom Nord og Sør. Den puristiske forståelsen av Bali-boksen som âren vitenskapâ førte imidlertid til et tilbakeslag da aktører i forhandlingene ble oppmerksomme på boksens âureneâ bindinger til politiske hensyn og moralske avveininger. Vi analyserer historien om Bali-boksen med utgangspunkt i begreper fra vitenskaps- og teknologisosiologien, og arguÂmenterer for at diskusjonen om klimaendringene vil kunne få et bedre grunnlag dersom man unngår å insistere på en sterk grensedragning mellom vitenskap og politikk

Get PDFThe main purpose of this article is to present and discuss age as an axis of social life. The age-based categories of child(hood), youth and adult(hood) have yet to be explored. Unless one is working with elderly people or the very young, age is unmarked. The topics discussed within this frame all relate to the adult role and its obvious position as the dominant, making adulthood both invisible and powerful in its role as norm. A principal value of adulthood is autonomy; a value which impacts significantly on how we define and practise the upbringing of our children. Another line of argument presented in this article is a discussion of alternative concepts and ways of thinking about age, and the author introduces the thoughts of the British scholar Nick Lee and his way of playing with the dichotomy of becoming versus being

Boken har et sterkt fokus på radiologisk datering, og da spesielt gjennom tandemakseleratorsystemet. En stor del av boken presenterer nye og til dels oppsiktsvekkende dateringer av velkjent materialtilfang fra Norden, fortrinnsvis fra Sverige og Norge. Her får vi resultater av akseleratoranalyser utført over en rekke år på 1990-tallet, i en periode hvor det foregikk en suksessiv utvikling og forbedring av denne metoden. Forfatterne henvender seg i første rekke til museumssektoren og til humanister innenfor tekstil og draktvitenskap

Get PDFTraditional monuments are usually associated with material forms or figures which represents the persons and memorable events that are regarded as being so important that they are worthy of a place in the collective memory. Â However, also the unofficial spheres of daily life are characterized with a variety of material objects, which serve, not only as carriers of memories and significant events, but also have the ability to bring into existence feelings and messages that cannot be formulated in any language. Â Photographic postcards belong to this category and can be perceived as monuments at a different level. The postcards can be looked upon as a storage house of material and monumental phenomena. In postcards from the former turn of the century, we can search for facts and features which have contributed to the construction of the modern, urban landscapes. Â The photos are more than material representations of places. Through his lens the photographer also directs the story of the picture. Thus, the photos can also be interpreted as the cultural monumentalizations of cities. How this happens becomes evident when we compare postcards from different periods. Â Moreover, the pictures are in themselves material objects which appear as monuments of their time. Â Thus, postcards can be looked upon both as a part of the place-establishing processes and as a part of the memory-carrying material which continuously preserve and create history

Get PDFThis article gives an analysis of the Royal wedding between the Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon and Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby in Oslo in August 2001, regarded as a Media Event. The Media Event is analysed in terms of genre and rhetoric, in order to show how an âordinary single motherâ is transformed into a Royal Highness. The analysis is based on the proposition that mediation shapes an event by composing a dramaturgy to fit the genres of the medium and the expectations of the viewers. In this case the melodramas of popular culture and the transformations of narratology are of special interest. Two plot points form a perfect symmetry in a steep dramaturgic curve: the âconfessionâ of Miss Høiby at the press conference on August 22, and the sermon by Bishop Gunnar Stålsett at the wedding three days later. The rhetoric of the sermon grasped the criticism confirmed by the brideâs confession, and then raised her to new dignity. The love of the single mother for her child was connected to the love of God for his children, as well as her passion for the Prince, and the coming Monarchâs love for his people. Thus the coming princess seemed to pass the last glorifying test, and the rhetoric of the wedding sermon made the viewers âfall in love with loveâ
Regjeringsmakt og motstandspolitikk
Get PDFIn the last few years the tradition of science studies has started to turn âoutwardsâ and engage in empirical studies of politics. This article is part of this movement. I present a cluster of selected stories to show how a specific form of governable nature was created in a particular set of scientific and technical practices. Through these stories I show how a new governable entity called âfluorineâ altered established policies in Norway. I also show that this material entity âfluorineâ became governable because it was quantified. This quantification helped to create âpolitical fluorineâ as a crucial object in real political events. Thus, the article is on the significance of numerical technologies in the making of the political. However, the politics of nature and its objects, come into being (or not) when they encounter other entities, such as the factory or âthe economyâ. The ambition of this is article is to demonstrate the ways in which these clashes or confrontations help to shape both a state politics and a politics of resistance
