Database of Charters from the Liber de Melros
The database is based on the Bannatyne Club edition of Melrose Abbey charters
(Liber de Melros, ed. C. Innes, vol 1-2, 1837). It is a part of the AHRC
funded project 'Survival and Success on Medieval Borders: Cistercian Houses in
Medieval Scotland and Pomerania' for the AHRC/ESRC programme Religion and
Society from September 2007 to October 2008. The grant holder was Dr Emilia
Jamroziak (University of Leeds) and the database was created by the research
assistant Dr Katharine Keats-Rohan (University of Oxford)

Dataset for exact frequency and phase control of a terahertz laser
This dataset contains the experimental data associated with the paper “Exact frequency and phase control of a terahertz laser". In this work, we report the exact frequency and phase control of a 2.0 terahertz quantum cascade laser (QCL), The QCL is locked optically and electronically to a GPS dsiciplined-all fibre telecommunications wavelength comb using an optical injection phase lock loop. The linewidth of the locked QCL was <1Hz, limited by the measurement instrument. The frequency and phase of the QCL was controlled independently

Dataset associated with “Nanoscale Substrate Roughness Hinders Domain Formation in Supported Lipid Bilayers”
Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs) are model membranes formed at solid substrate surfaces. This architecture renders the membrane experimentally accessible to surface sensitive techniques used to study their properties, including Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), optical fluorescence microscopy, Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) and X-Ray/Neutron Reflectometry, and allows integration with technology for potential biotechnological applications such as drug screening devices. The experimental technique often dictates substrate choice or treatment, and it is anecdotally recognised that certain substrates are suitable for the particular experiment, but the exact influence of the substrate has not been comprehensively investigated. Here, we study the behavior of a simple model bilayer, phase separating on a variety of commonly used substrates, including glass, mica, silicon and quartz, with drastically different results. The distinct micron scale domains observed on mica, identical to those seen in free-floating Giant Unilamellar Vesicles (GUVs), are reduced to nanometer scale domains on glass and quartz. The mechanism for the arrest of domain formation is investigated, and the most likely candidate is nanoscale surface roughness, acting as a drag on the hydrodynamic motion of small domains during phase separation. Evidence was found that the physico-chemical properties of the surface have a mediating effect, most likely due to changes in the lubricating interstitial water layer between surface and bilayer

Optimised cycling stability of sorption enhanced chemical looping steam reforming of acetic acid in a packed bed reactor - dataset
The cycling stability of reactor bed materials during the production of enhanced high purity hydrogen in the sorption enhanced chemical looping steam reforming (SE-CLSR) of acetic acid (HAc) was studied and compared with the conventional steam reforming process. A packed bed reactor was used at 1 atm with a nickel catalyst supported on calcium aluminate intimately mixed with CaO in the role of high temperature CO2 sorbent. Twenty cycles of SE-CLSR were conducted under combined NiO-reduction/HAc steam reforming at 650 °C, at feed molar steam to carbon ratio of 3 and WHSV of 1.18 h−1, cyclically alternating with air feed to perform the coupled Ni-oxidation and CaCO3 calcination at 850 °C. Sustained and consistent reforming was achieved in excess of 80% of HAc conversion across all 20 SE-CLSR cycles; this was accompanied by hydrogen yield efficiencies exceeding 78% when compared to equilibrium values at same conditions. However, by the end of the 20th cycle, the extent of CaO carbonation had dropped to about 50% of that observed in the first cycle. Five SE-CLSR cycles were run using steam hydration at 250 °C prior to the fuel feed with the aim of improving sorbent conversion. A higher hydrogen yield was observed with an increase in fuel conversion. The sorbent conversion was also stable across all 5 SE-CLSR cycles when performed with sorbent pre-hydration using steam. This was attributed to an increased carbonation rate during the sorbent’s pre-breakthrough period. Enhanced auto-reduction of the NiO catalyst resulting from sorption of the CO2 product was also observed, and an improved sorbent conversion outlook over the cycles was investigated. TEM and SEM images indicated that carbon formed during the fuel-feed stage was eliminated during the cyclic oxidation step
