The research provides a reading of the course of modern Algerian poetry from Emir Abdelkader until the beginning of the publication of free poetry in the mid-fifties. Throughout this period, poetry was associated with heritage references, especially Sufism, which enabled it to achieve its own poetry, a poetry that restores heritage in varying ways, in which heritage appears as a constant in the poem, even when the structural transformation of the poem occurred, and it moved from vertical poetry to free poetry, and the mystical heritage was A special presence in the Algerian poetic experiences due to its linguistic and symbolic loads, appropriate to the aesthetics of the poem

The socio-textual structure and the worldview in the contemporary Arabic novel The Other Rooms as an example The social and textual structures in the contemporary Arabic novel are a fundamental aspect in forming the worldview, as it is defined by Lucian Goldman, through actual and possible awareness, world vision, meaningful structure and whole vision. The cognitive aspect of the Arabic novel makes it a reflection of the Arab social reality in its modern historical eras. The Arabic novel shows various directions and currents of thought, culture, civilizations and societies. Hence, we will work on one novel Alghoraf Al-Okhra by Jebra Ibrahim Jebra that has been considered prominent in the last decades as an example. It tackles the political hegemony on social life. The social structure varied between Paralysis and action due to the coercive political power. The novel's fictional characters that reflect the social reality are paralysed because of the absence of non-compulsory or enforced awareness. The research is concerned with five axes: actual awareness, possible awareness, world vision, meaningful structure, and whole vision. We relied on the methodology of constitutive structuralism in tackling the novel. We reached some results. The paper started by approaching the role of textual and social structures in formatting the vision of the world in the novel

Free Vibration of Statically Deformed Bi-directionally Graded Timoshenko Beam on Elastic Foundation

    Get PDF
In the present work, geometric nonlinearity is taken into consideration to study the free vibration response of nonlinearly deflected Timoshenko beam with bi-directional gradation, resting on an elastic foundation of Winkler type. Exponential variation of material properties is considered along the thickness and length direction. In order to carry out the present numerical study, the entire physical domain of analysis is converted into a normalized domain and suitable number of computational points are created on it to conduct a whole domain analysis. The adopted mathematical formulation is displacement based and semi-analytical. A unique methodology is used for the formulation, in which the static analysis is taken first under large amplitude static force, then a subsequent eigenvalue analysis is performed on the known statically deformed beam profile. Appropriate energy principles are utilized for both analyses to derive the equation of motion in matrix form, which are solved with the help of the algorithm of direct substitution method. Generated results are validated with the results of previously published paper. New sets of result are also presented as benchmark results to represent the impact of bi-directional gradation and elastic foundation on nonlinear vibration response

Etude de l’effet d’adhérence acier-béton sur la réponse non-linéaire des piles de pont en BA

    Get PDF

Coefficient of surface water absorption: A non-destructive test index for evaluation and quality grading of cover-concrete

    Get PDF
Surface Water Absorption Test (SWAT) has long been proposed as a non-destructive testing device for evaluation and grading of the quality of the cover concrete and standardization of SWAT is still in process. In this study, the acceptability and validity of a new water sorptivity index of the SWAT method - the coefficient of surface water absorption (CSWA), are appraised by a correlative assessment between CSWA and the coefficient of air permeability (kT values) measured by the Torrent’s double chamber air permeability device. The tests were conducted on fourteen different kinds of concrete at different ages, produced with three different cement types, four water-to-binder ratios, and four curing conditions. The results revealed a good correlation between CSWA and kT for both the specimens with uniform moisture content and the ones with varying degrees of moisture gradients. The findings validate the CSWA as an effective quality control index during design as well as a durability quantifier for evaluating the water absorption resistance of in-situ concrete structures

Study on the performance of natural fiber reinforced concrete of different strength with DIP technique and T- Test Analysis

    Get PDF
This work focuses on the effect of natural plant fiber as reinforcement on the strength properties of concrete of different grade strength (M30-M50). Fibers of different length were added to the concrete mix at the rate 3% of the binder content. Three different lengths of fibers (10-30 mm) at fixed volume fraction were added to M30, M40 and M50 grades of concrete. The fresh and mechanical property of twelve different fiber reinforced concrete mixes was investigated.  The effect of fibers on the pre cracking, post cracking behaviour of the concrete specimen was investigated using digital image processing technique and video measuring system images.  Using the developed linear regression plot, empirical equations were formulated to establish relation between the compressive strength and other mechanical properties of concrete. From the study it can be concluded that the caryota fiber with rich cellulose content contributes to arrest the cracks at the initial stage of loading and prevents major crack plane in the post peak region. Fibers mainly contribute to increase the tensile property of concrete. The effect of fibers is more prominent in M30 mix concrete when compared to M40 and M50 concrete mixes

The Symbolic of Women in the Algerian Cultural Heritage as Represented in Malika Mokeddem’s L’ interdite (1993) and La nuit de la lezarde(1998)

    Get PDF
This article investigates the symbolic of women in Algerian cultural heritage as represented by Algerian novelist Malika Mokeddem in her L’interdite (1993) and La nuit de la lézarde(1998). It aims to study the ways into which Mokeddem depicts her females not as victims but as rebels against the patriarchal cultural codes imposed by the Islamist upsurge of the ‘Black Decade’, that is Algeria of the 1990s. We will demonstrate that through reading and breaking the cultural fundamentalist code of marriage, Mokeddem’s female characters overcome their subjugation in the  conflicting political and cultural situation in Algeria of the 1990s. It will be shown that the novelist created her female characters as an allegory of her own defiance and denunciation not only of the ‘retrograde’ 1984 Algerian Family Code, but of the hegemonic fundamentalist rule as well
