    THE PARENTS\u27 PREFERENCE IN CHOOSING AN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL OF SANGGAR ANAK ALAM (SALAM) IN BANTUL DIY: A ‘PROJECT’ TO INHERIT WISDOM VALUES

    Parents\u27 awareness of choosing the best school for their children is vital and not a simple task. In selecting this school, the aspects of knowledge, life experience, and parents\u27 ideology play an essential role. This study aims to reveal the rational choice of parents who send their children to the alternative school of Sanggar Anak Alam (SALAM) Bantul, Yogyakarta. This research is descriptive-qualitative, using a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with 5 (five) informants who send their children to school in SALAM. The researcher uses James S. Coleman\u27s Rational choice theory to explain this phenomenon by looking at the aspects of resources, rewards, costs, values , and preferences. The results of this study indicate that life experiences and the need for life wisdom values than the need for material selections influenced the rational choice of parents.Kesadaran orangtua untuk memilihkan sekolah terbaik bagi anaknya merupakan hal vital dan tidak sederhana. Dalam proses pemilihan sekolah ini, aspek pengetahuan, pengalaman hidup dan ideologi orang tua memainkan peran penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap pilihan rasional orang tua yang menyekolahkan anaknya di sekolah alternatif Sanggar Anak Alam (SALAM) Bantul, Yogyakarta. Desain penelitian berupa kualitatif interpretatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara mendalam terhadap 5 (lima) orang informan yang menyekolahkan anaknya di di SALAM. Peneliti menggunakan teori pilihan Rasional James S. Coleman untuk menjelaskan fenomena ini dengan melihat pada aspek sumber daya, reward, cost, nilai dan preferensi. Teknik pengolahan data menggunakan metode analisis data fenomenologi Van Kaam yakni horizonalisasi, reduksi & eliminasi, pengelompokan tema, identifikasi final data, mengonstruksi deskripsi tekstural - struktural, lalu menggabungkan keduanya untuk menghasilkan makna dan esensi dari permasalahan penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pilihan rasional orang tua yang menyekolahkan anaknya di SALAM lebih dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman hidup dan kebutuhan akan nilai-nilai kearifan hidup daripada kebutuhan akan preferensi materi

    THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN ROMANCE AND FAITH: STUDY OF THE DA\u27WAH MESSAGE IN THE MOVIE "AJARI AKU ISLAM"

    The form of Islamic da\u27wah is currently very rapidly advancing, as is the use of its da\u27wah media. Da\u27wah symbols are made more interesting for everyone. In the past, da’wah was delivered through events such as recitation or other formal educational events. One form of media used for da’wah is through film work. In 2019 the national film industry was enlivened by films with islamic themes. A film called “Ajari Aku Islam” carrying the theme of love wrapped in islamic background. In addition to being a means of entertainment, this film also contains messages of da’wah. By packaging da\u27wah in films, it is hoped that it can be a solution to improve the religious community. Combining pop themes or those currently favored by the community is also very useful for making films containing da\u27wah that can attract the attention of the audience. Attractive da\u27wah packaging is very much needed by today\u27s people who really prioritize taste. The researcher uses a descriptive qualitative approach to reveal the message in the film that has been reviewed with semiotic theory. This paper found that maintaining faith is very important for Muslims and places faith above all else.The film combines Islamic da\u27wah wrapped in a romance story of teenagers of different religions. There was a very important da\u27wah message, one of them is as Muslims we must always maintain our faith until we die. Maintaining faith and Islam is very important for Muslims to do in any condition.

    THE SHIFTING PARADIGM IN INDONESIAN FILM DISTRIBUTION DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

    Cinemas or movie theaters are one of the industries that can hold its own amidst digital disruption. As a means of distribution and exhibition of conventional films, cinemas have the ability to adapt themselves to various digital innovations; starting from the audio-visual projection device, ticketing, payment system to 3D technology. The existence and survival of a cinema rely on two factors, namely film distribution and moviegoer factors, the COVID-19 pandemic has shifted these two factors. If previously movie distribution and moviegoing occurred conventionally, the two activities have shifted considerably to online distribution/streaming. This study analyzed the paradigm shift in film distribution and moviegoing during and after the pandemic using a “three-stage model of theory building” as an analytical tool which is part of the descriptive-qualitative methodology. The results showed that the COVID-19 pandemic is an anomaly that is shifting the paradigm in conventional film distribution as evidenced by the fact that it is not new media that pose a threat to the existence of cinemas, but the insubstantial social functions and cinema activities during the pandemic. There are five factors why cinemas will continue to develop as a film distribution and exhibition medium post COVID-19: cinema adaptation, big screen sensation, entertainment and social values, historical values, and economic factors

    ATTRACTION OF CULINARY TOURISM DESTINATIONS TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT DURING THE PANDEMIC

    Culinary tourism had the most extensive product portfolio and was one of the tourism sectors most affected by the pandemic in Indonesia. The website was a specific communication tool for promoting tourism. The study objective was to examine how the government\u27s promotion of culinary tourism in official website content strengthens the sustainability of culinary tourism development during the pandemic. This study used qualitative content analysis on the official tourism promotion website of the Indonesian government, namely https://www.indonesia.travel. Two hundred twenty-four articles on the "Culinaries\u27\u27 and "Culinaries & Wellness" links were analyzed in seven data groups and 17 keywords. The placement and number of keyword analysis on the website found that tourism promotion had identified culinary resources but not enough to promote culinary as a tourist attraction. Business actors with small capital have not been promoted adequately, and promotion has not offered virtual culinary tour packages and online purchase messages sufficiently. It was concluded that the promotion of culinary tourism still required improvement to strengthen it’s sustainability during the pandemic. The government must promote culinary tourism by increasing the messages specifically for culinary tourism, information on culinary tourism attractions, business actors, local food, small-capital business actors, supporting online promotion, and integrating culinary tourism into other tours

    Essence of justice and gender equality cannot be separated from the context of society\u27s understanding of the roles and place of men and women in the social realities of society. People still understand that gender is a cultural construct of roles, functions, and social responsibility between men and women. In general, beings in the women\u27s world experience marginalization in both social and personal spheres. Alienation, injustice, and even ignoring women feel very common among men. The bad view of women throughout history has led to a bad view of all aspects of women. All religions, especially Islam, face new challenges. Islam is considered to perpetuate injustice and oppression of women, including patterns of male-female relationship (gender inequality). The problem, however, is that these gender inequalities stem either from religion itself, or from religious interpretations or understandings influenced by patriarchal traditions or cultures, capitalist ideologies or medieval Middle Eastern cultures. From the Islamic point of view, leadership is related to two basic social expectations or demands placed on leaders. The purpose of this study is to inform readers about the meaning of women\u27s leadership, the challenges of leaders, and aspects of leadership by examining them from the perspective of Islam and Islamic psychology. The method used in this study is the use of a literacy research method, or commonly referred to as a literature study, and is sourced from data obtained by recording and processing the research data obtained.Keywords: Leadership, Woman, Islamic Psychological Perspective

    This article intends to discuss the thoughts of M. Quraish Shihab, Hussein Muhammad, and Nasaruddin Umar in interpreting polygamy in Islam. The practice of polygamy in Indonesian society has always been a controversial debate for the public. Even the media also brought the issue through films and video documentaries about the practices of polygamy in Indonesia. This phenomenon can indirectly affect the perspective and thinking of the community regarding the legitimacy of polygamy in the socio-cultural context of Indonesian society. Therefore, it is very important to examine the thoughts of the three Indonesian Islamic figures above as a mirror to see how the Indonesian Muslim community should interpret polygamy. This article was compiled based on qualitative research through library research and searching virtual data on the internet. The results showed that the perspectives of the three Islamic figures were very relevant and contextual to be applied in analyzing the phenomenon of polygamy in Indonesia. However, the meaning of polygamy within the society is still tend to be literal. Therefore, a more comprehensive perspective is needed and more attention to local aspects is also required so that polygamy can be placed fairly within society.Artikel ini bermaksud untuk membedah pemikiran M. Quraish Shihab, Hussein Muhammad, dan Nasaruddin Umar dalam memaknai poligami dalam Islam. Praktik poligami di masyarakat Indonesia selalu menjadi isu yang hangat dibicarakan oleh publik. Bahkan media turut membawa isu tersebut melalui film dan video dokumenter tentang praktik-praktik poligami di Indonesia. Fenomena ini secara tidak langsung dapat mempengaruhi cara pandang dan berpikir pada masyarakat berkenaan dengan keabsahan poligami dalam konteks sosial budaya masyarakat Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, sangat penting untuk mengkaji pemikiran tiga (3) tokoh Islam Indonesia di atas sebagai cermin untuk melihat bagaimana seharusnya masyarakat Muslim Indonesia memaknai poligami. Artikel ini disusun berdasarkan penelitian kuatitatif melalui studi pustaka dan penelusuran data-data virtual di internet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perspektif ketiga tokoh Islam tersebut sangat relevan dan kontekstual untuk diterapkan dalam membaca fenomena poligami di Indonesia. Mengingat selama ini pemaknaan masyarakat terhadap poligami masih literal, dan diperlukan perspektif yang lebih komprehensif dan memperhatikan aspek kelokalan agar poligami dapat didudukkan secara adil di masyarakat

    The hybridity of Muslim youth with popular culture has had an influence on the da\u27wah packaging strategy carried out by many da\u27wah communities in Indonesia, including the Teras Da\u27wah Community in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The packaging of da\u27wah with a more popular, fun, and modern cover has made Teras Da\u27wah as one of da\u27wah communities with the most wanted by many younger Muslims in Indonesia. This article aims to describe how the branding strategy is run by the Teras Da\u27wah Community using a qualitative research approach, namely through ethnographic and netnographic studies for six (6) months in the Teras Da\u27wah Community. The results of the study reveal that the appreciation of popular culture among young people today has a significant role in \u27attracting\u27 these millennials to recite the Koran in a relaxed but serious manner at Teras Da\u27wah. The form of this appreciation is packaged from the selection of an attractive logo, the interior of the room that resembles a cafe, the study content packaged in slang and the clustering of the study program according to the level of understanding of the members. The consequence of this strategy is the increasingly hybrid identity of Muslim youth in Indonesia due to the intersection between Islamic values and popular culture that has long been attached to them.Hibriditas anak-anak muda muslim dengan budaya populer telah membawa pengaruh pada strategi pengemasan dakwah yang dilakukan oleh banyak komunitas dakwah di Indonesia. Salah satu diantaranya yang telah menerapkan strategi tersebut adalah Komunitas Teras Dakwah di Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Pengemasan dakwah dengan cover yang lebih ngepop, fun, dan modern telah menjadikan Teras Dakwah sebagai komunitas dakwah yang diminati oleh banyak anak-anak muda muslim di Indonesia. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana strategi branding yang dilakukan oleh Komunitas Teras Dakwah dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, yakni melalui studi etnografi dan netnografi selama enam (6) bulan di Komunitas Teras Dakwah. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa apresiasi Teras Dakwah terhadap budaya populer di kalangan anak muda saat ini memiliki peran signifikan dalam ‘menarik’ milenial ini untuk mengaji dengan santai tapi serius di Teras Dakwah. Wujud apresiasi ini dikemas dari pemilihan logo yang menarik, interior ruangan yang menyerupai kafe, konten kajian yang dikemas dengan bahasa gaul dan klusterisasi program kajian sesuai dengan tingkat pemahaman anggota. Konsekuensi dari strategi ini adalah semakin hibridnya identitas anak-anak muslim di Indonesia akibat persinggungan antara nilai-nilai Islam dengan budaya populer yang sudah lama melekat pada diri mereka

    THE CONTINUITY OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN SIDOREJO VILLAGE, BENGKULU PROVINCE

    The Covid-19 pandemic has led the Government of Indonesia to implement health protocols. Although it can have a serious impact on the sustainability of social and economic activities. This research examines the impact of implementing health protocols on the sustainability of social and economic activities in society. This research was conducted in Sidorejo Village, Pondok Kelapa District, Central Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The data was collected through observation and interviews of 15 informants. The results revealed that the implementation of health protocols did not significantly affect the sustainability of social and economic activities. The efforts made by the community in meeting their basic needs are saving expenses, utilizing the yard to grow vegetables, and using sparingly funds and basic goods from the government.Pandemi covid-19 telah membuat Pemerintah Indonesia menerapkan protokol kesehatan, meskipun bisa berdampak pada keberlangsungan kegiatan-kegiatan sosial dan ekonomi. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengkaji dampak penerapan protokol kesehatan terhadap keberlangsungan kegiatan sosial dan ekonomi di masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Sidorejo, Kecamatan Pondok Kelapa, Kabupaten Bengkulu Tengah, Provinsi Bengkulu dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan pengamatan dan wawancara terhadap 15 orang informan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa penerapan protokol kesehatan tidak terlalu mempengaruhi keberlangsungan kegiatan sosial dan ekonomi. Upaya yang dilakukan masyarakat dalam mencukupi kebutuhan-kebutuhan dasarnya adalah menghemat pengeluaran, mendayagunakan pekarangan untuk menanam sayur-sayuran, dan menggunakan secara hemat bantuan dana serta barang-barang kebutuhan pokok dari pemerintah

    BUILDING INTERFAITH SOLIDARITY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC THROUGH CELEBRATION OF MUSLIM AND CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS IN INDONESIA

    Physical distancing policy has forced religious people in Indonesia to carry out worship at home and celebrate religious holidays with following a strict health protocol. This situation has affected for a loosening of solidarity in society, especially at the beginning era of pandemic. However, there are religious groups that modify some of the practices of religious rituals on their religious holidays, and adapt them to the rules of physical distancing, including Muslims and Christians in North Sulawesi. This article intends to discuss about Lebaran Ketupat and Thanksgiving, which are Muslim and Christian holidays in Minahasa as a means to strengthen community solidarity during the pandemic. This article was compiled based on a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews with Muslim and Christian communities in Ratatotok, Southeast Minahasa and Poigar Bolaang Mongondow in North Sulawesi. The results showed that the practice of Lebaran Ketupat and Thanksgiving can create social solidarity among interfaith groups. In addition, modifications to the practice of Eid Ketupat and Thanksgiving during the 2020-2021 pandemic have become a local resilience in dealing with the various impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their ability to modify the Lebaran Ketupat and Thanksgiving rituals allows Muslim and Christian communities to create their solidarity as “torang samua basudara” (we are all brothers), in both idea and practice.Physical distancing telah memaksa umat beragama di Indonesia untuk melaksanakan ibadah di rumah dan merayakan hari besar keagamaan dengan protokol kesehatan yang ketat. Hal ini berimplikasi pada mulai merenggangnya solidaritas di masyarakat. Namun demikian, terdapat kelompok keagamaan yang memodifikasi beberapa praktik ritual keagamaan pada hari besar keagamaan mereka, dan menyesuaikannya dengan  aturan pembatasan physical distancing tersebut, diantaranya adalah umat Muslim dan Kristen di Sulawesi Utara. Artikel ini bermaksud untuk membahas tentang Lebaran Ketupat dan Pengucapan Syukur yang merupakan hari besar umat Muslim dan Nasrani di Minahasa sebagai sarana untuk memperkuat solidaritas masyarakat di masa pandemi. Artikel ini disusun berdasarkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mandalam terhadap masyarakat Muslim dan Kristen di Ratatotok Minahasa Tenggara dan Poigar Bolaang Mongondow di Sulawesi Utara.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik Lebaran Ketupat dan Pengucapan Syukur dapat menciptakan solidaritas sosial diantara kelompok lintas agama. Selain itu, modifikasi praktik Lebaran Ketupat dan Pengucapan Syukur di masa pandemi pada tahun 2020-2021 telah menjadi local resilience dalam menghadapi berbagai dampak pandemi Covid-19. Kemampuan mereka untuk memodifikasi ritual Lebaran Ketupat dan Pengucapan Syukur memungkinkan masyarakat Muslim dan Kristen untuk menciptakan solidaritas mereka sebagai “torang samua basudara” (kita semua bersaudara), baik dalam ide maupun praktik.

    Peran Professional Commitment terhadap Subjective Career Success pada Guru

    Every teacher dreams of a successful and sustainable career to achieve satisfaction in their career. Even though teachers\u27 career is guaranteed, teachers are still worried about their career success, especially about their subjective success. Subjective career success is defined as an individual\u27s subjective perspective, assessment, and satisfaction with his/her career achievement. Professional commitment is loyalty to their profession, and positive evaluation of the profession, so that it is considered to have a role in achieving subjective career success. The objective of this research was to examine the role of professional commitment on subjective career success in teachers. Using a non-experimental correlational quantitative approach this research has 320 teachers as the subject. The measuring instrument used was Professional Commitment Scale and Subjective Career Success Inventory, with the sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The data analysis method used a simple regression test to determine the correlation between variables and a multiple regression test to determine the per dimension role. The research results indicated the role of professional commitment on subjective career success. It is hoped that the results of this study can be considered in increasing teacher commitment to their profession to increase subjective career success. Abstrak. Setiap guru memimpikan karier yang sukses dan berkelanjutan agar mendapatkan kepuasan dalam kariernya. Meskipun berkarier menjadi seorang guru begitu terjamin, namun seorang guru tetap merasakan kekhawatiran akan kesuksesan kariernya, terkhusus pada kesuksesan subjektifnya. Subjective career success didefinisikan sebagai perspektif subjektif individu, penilaian, dan kepuasan terhadap pencapaian kariernya. Professional commitment merupakan loyalitas terhadap profesi, dan evaluasi positif pada profesi, sehingga dianggap mampu berperan dalam mencapai subjective career success. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui peran professional commitment terhadap subjective career success pada guru. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional non-eksperimen dengan subjek penelitian yaitu 320 guru. Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu Professional Commitment Scale dan Subjective Career Success Inventory, dengan teknik sampling yang digunakan yaitu accidental sampling. Metode analisis data menggunakan uji regresi sederhana untuk mengetahui peran antar variabel dan uji regresi berganda untuk mengetahui peran per dimensi.
