REVEALING THE FACES OF RURAL POVERTY IN INDONESIA: A CASE FROM TEMANGGUNG, CENTRAL JAVA
Previous research on poverty in rural areas of Indonesia has identified structural poverty as a significant underlying cause. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the internal and external factors contributing to poverty in rural Java. The study utilized quantitative research methods and was conducted in the Merah Village, Temanggung, Central Java, which was selected as a representative area falling within the national poverty threshold. The findings indicated that rural communities were confronted not only with structural poverty issues such as limited access to economic resources, education, and empowerment. In addition, cultural poverty further compounded the issue, as it was characterized by pervasive perceptions of subjective well-being among the rural communities, with a majority (81.7%) feeling poor and uncertain about finding a way out of their situation, while only a minority (18.3%) felt prosperous. The prevalent perception of cultural poverty is closely intertwined with the structural characteristics of Javanese society, particularly the concept of \u27nerimo\u27, which can be interpreted as the belief that poverty is a God-given destiny that cannot be rejected or altered.

WOMEN IN THE SHADOW OF TERRORISM: EXPOSING THE DISCURSIVE AWARENESS BEHIND THE DIVORCE OF TERRORIST WIVES IN INDONESIA
In 2022, the National Counter-Terrorism Agency released data that over the last 10 (ten) years the involvement of women in terrorism activism has increased by 10%. The increase was coupled with an increase in divorce cases among spouses of perpetrators of terrorism. The objective of this study is to elucidate the reasons and mechanisms behind the correlation between the surge in women\u27s involvement in terrorism and the phenomenon of divorce. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and tracing of data from the National Counter-Terrorism Agency. The data collected were then analyzed using Anthony Giddens\u27 Structural Theory. According to the findings, multiple factors contributed to the divorce of terrorist couples, such as insufficient financial resources, pressure from peer groups to end the marriage due to differences in supporting the Islamic State, and the realization of no longer wanting to be associated with husbands engaged in terrorist activities. By applying Giddens\u27 framework, these results formed a compelling argument that the wives of terrorists possessed a discursive awareness of the societal context in which they lived, leading them to make the decision to divorce their husbands.
DECONSTRUCTING CULTURAL STEREOTYPES TO UNCOVER HIDDEN TOURISM POTENTIALS
People of Minangkabau descent in Indonesia have several negative stereotypes that have long developed in society. Not only can it disturb the psychological condition of these ethnic group members, but it can also trigger intercultural conflict. This condition does not help the local government promote West Sumatra as a cultural tourism destination. This study deconstructs the negative stereotypes in order to correct misperceptions that have occurred so far. The study tests Hofstede’s cultural dimensions in two ways; first is towards the deconstruction process of Minangkabau’s original traditional teachings. The second is towards the nuclear family configuration using ANOVA test to find the shifting cultural values. This study attempts to find the origin of the negative stereotypes and confirm it with the original traditional teachings. This study can ward off bad cultural stereotypes as it corrects misconceptions about the nature of the matrilineal Minangkabau culture. Besides elaborating on the cause of negative stereotypes, this study also finds out the origin of positive ones. They are known to have high social awareness, strong entrepreneurial abilities, and excellent leadership skills. Thanks to these three good stereotypes, the Minangkabau people can then produce crafts that are intelligent and timeless, such as the production of engravings on songket cloth that are full of philosophy, the architectural feature of the Bagonjong house roof, the traditional dress, culinary menus, music, and art. This research produces data artifacts about contemporary Minangkabau culture to benefit the cultural tourism industry. This deconstruction approach has never been tested on the Minangkabau tribe
THE INFLUENCE OF YOUTUBE CONTENT EXPOSURE ON GEN Z RELIGIOSITY IN JAVA AND SUMATRA
At the beginning of YouTube development, there were few broadcasts featuring information about religious values. But now, along with the times, many preachers are starting to use YouTube as a medium of da\u27wah to reach the younger generation who may not come to conventional recitations such as lectures in recitation activities. Based on this background, this study aims to measure the effects of YouTube, especially da\u27wah shows, on the younger generation’s religiosity at universities in Java and Sumatra. The religiosity aspect consists of Aqidah, morals, and sharia. These three aspects will be used as variables revealed to be questioned for respondents. The research method used in this study is the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) analysis technique. Data collection in the study was conducted at four campuses: UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Pamulang University (UNPAM) and UIN Imam Bonjol Padang and Padang State University (UNP), with a sample of 200 students representing Gen-Z. Sampling used simple random sampling. The research results obtained a significance score of 0.031 < 0.05 so that it can be concluded; First, the preachers (YouTube) figure has little effect on the religiosity of Gen-Z, namely the preachers is only 0.019, meaning that the effect is small. On YouTube, the second theory, preaching, affects Gen-Z religiosity by 0.093, meaning that the effect is negligible. Third, the da\u27wah method on YouTube involves the religiosity of Gen-Z, which is equal to 0.131, which means that the method is more influential than the preacher and material. This means that the hypothesis is accepted or has a significant effect, especially on the da\u27wah method
