    Perilaku Body Shaming dalam Perspektif Islam

    Body shaming is defined as a behavior of commenting and giving negative judgments related to one\u27s body shape, physique, appearance, and size through words that can interfere with one\u27s physical and psychological conditions. Body shaming is a phenomenon that is often found in people\u27s lives and often this behavior is normalized, even though body shaming can have effects that cannot be underestimated for some people. This study examines body shaming behavior from an Islamic perspective by analyzing the verses of the Quran and Hadith. This research also aims to explain about body shaming behavior according to the Quran and Hadith. The method used in this research is a qualitative method through library research. The results of this study generally explain about body shaming behavior in the perspective of psychology, the views of the Quran and Hadith on body shaming behavior, and the recommendation to speak and behave well. This research also produces several findings, namely there are several verses of the Quran and Hadith that explain body shaming behavior, although they do not mention the term body shaming specifically. The Quranic verses and Hadiths that explain the prohibition of body shaming behavior include Q.S Al-Hujurat verses 11 and 12, as well as one of the Hadiths narrated by Imam At-Tirmidzi and Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim.     Changing Paths and Surviving as an Entrepreneur: Psychological Resilience in Layoff Victims

    The Covid-19 pandemic that has passed has brought about changes in the economic life of the community, including in livelihoods. Not a few people had to change professions due to layoffs from their companies during the pandemic, and now they are turning into entrepreneurs or opening businesses to meet their daily needs. This study aims to provide an overview of the dynamics of psychological resilience in business actors affected by layoffs from the co-19 pandemic with a qualitative phenomenological approach. Informants in this study involved 2 people who are entrepreneurs. The informant criteria are workers who have been affected by layoffs during the pandemic, have a business, and are currently not returning to formal employment. The data collection methods used were interviews and observations. The results showed that psychological resilience in the two informants was described by Tenacity, Strength, and Optimism. Tenacity can be seen from the determination to run a business after being laid off, believing that fortune has been arranged by God and the informant\u27s gratitude brings a path to entrepreneurship. Strenght is seen from the attitude of willingness to sacrifice, a strong intention to run, and from the family who helped strengthen what the informant is currently living. Optimism in informants, namely informants believe in what is currently being lived as a life choice, and persistence to see the prospects of the business being undertaken for their future lives.Keywords: Entrepreneur, Layoff Victims, Resilience

    Religious Commodification in Branding: A Semiotic Analysis of Instaperfect’s Instagram Content

    The commodification of religion in branding practices has become a prominent phenomenon in contemporary consumer culture, particularly in how religious symbols promote commercial products. Brands have increasingly adopted religious imagery and values to appeal to specific market segments, especially in Muslim-majority regions. This study examines how Instaperfect, a beauty brand, commodifies Islamic elements in its branding on Instagram, focusing on integrating of religious symbols with commercial ideals. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a content analysis approach, using John Fiske’s semiotic framework to analyze eight Instagram posts from Instaperfect, published between January and April 2023. Data was collected through a literature review and visual-textual analysis of the selected posts. The results reveal that Instaperfect blends religious symbols with luxury branding to construct an aspirational identity for Muslim women, thereby commodifying religious values. The study highlights how Islamic values such as halal and modesty are reframed to align with capitalist ideologies, turning religious devotion into a commercialized identity. These findings emphasize the growing intersection of religion and consumerism in digital branding. Komodifikasi agama dalam branding semakin banyak ditemui dalam budaya konsumerisme saat ini, terutama dengan penggunaan simbol-simbol agama untuk menarik perhatian konsumen. Banyak merek yang kini memanfaatkan citra agama untuk menjangkau pasar tertentu, khususnya di negara-negara dengan mayoritas Muslim. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana Instaperfect, sebuah merek kosmetik, mengkomodifikasi elemen-elemen Islam dalam strategi branding mereka di Instagram, dengan fokus pada cara mereka menggabungkan simbol-simbol agama dengan nilai komersial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis konten, serta kerangka semiotika John Fiske untuk menganalisis delapan unggahan Instagram Instaperfect yang dipublikasikan antara Januari hingga April 2023. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi literatur dan analisis visual-teks dari unggahan yang terpilih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Instaperfect memadukan simbol agama dengan branding mewah untuk membangun citra aspiratif bagi perempuan Muslim, yang pada gilirannya mengkomodifikasi nilai-nilai agama.     Examining Sufi Practices on Social Media: Distortions and Complexities in Contemporary Pakistan

    The engagement of Sufism on Pakistani social media has sparked many concerns over the inclusivity of religious manifestations and the interpretation of the Qur\u27an. This research seeks to examine the historical development and objectives of Sufism in order to analyse the impact of Sufi activities in the digital domain, specifically focusing on the emergence of religious aberrations. The research was carried out utilizing qualitative methodologies by examining ancient Sufi literature and subsequently comparing it with Sufi practices in the digital domain. The findings demonstrate that internet platforms have fundamentally transformed the availability and dissemination of Sufi teachings, allowing an unparalleled avenue for dialogue and cultural manifestation that was before unachievable. Nevertheless, there are deficiencies in their attitude to community, instructional methods, and the impact of technology on their individual activities. The concept of Digital Sufism demonstrates the integration of traditional practices into the online world, resulting in both opportunities and challenges in the modern day. Praktik Sufi di media sosial Pakistan telah menimbulkan beberapa masalah terkait keberagaman dalam ekspresi keagamaan dan pemahaman terhadap teks Al-Qur’an. Melalui penelusuran sejarah dan tujuan tasawuf, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana praktik Sufi di ranah digital tersebut memunculkan distorsi keagamaan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui studi literatur Sufi klasik dan kemudian membandingkannya dengan praktik sufi di ranah digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan platform online telah merevolusi aksesibilitas dan penyebaran ajaran Sufi, mendorong sebuah cara yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya untuk percakapan dan ekspresi budaya yang sebelumnya tidak mungkin tercapai. Namun, kesenjangan muncul dalam pendekatan mereka terhadap komunitas, teknik pengajaran, dan pengaruh teknologi terhadap praktik mereka masing-masing.     Preserving Cultural Identity Through Tahlilan: Strengthening Social Solidarity in Madura

    The tahlilan tradition in Madura serves not only as a religious ritual but also as a significant social and cultural mechanism that strengthens communal bonds. In the context of Madura, tahlilan goes beyond prayer, representing solidarity, empathy, and social cohesion among community members. This study aims to analyze how tahlilan influences social solidarity and harmony within Madurese society, focusing on its role in community integration and the maintenance of social ties. A qualitative case study method was employed, involving interviews with local religious leaders, community figures, and participants in the tahlilan rituals, along with observations of religious practices in Pasean, Pamekasan. The results show that tahlilan plays a crucial role in reinforcing collective identity and social harmony in Madura. It fosters a sense of belonging and mutual support across social classes, while also serving as a mechanism for collective grieving and emotional expression. However, financial pressures related to hosting tahlilan can lead to social strain, particularly among lower-income families. This study highlights the cultural significance of tahlilan and its impact on social dynamics but acknowledges that further research is needed to explore economic challenges and evolving practices in different socio-economic contexts. Tradisi tahlilan di Madura tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ritual keagamaan, tetapi juga sebagai mekanisme sosial dan budaya yang memperkuat ikatan komunal. Dalam konteks Madura, tahlilan melampaui doa, mencerminkan solidaritas, empati, dan kohesi sosial di antara anggota masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana tahlilan memengaruhi solidaritas sosial dan harmoni dalam masyarakat Madura, dengan fokus pada peran tradisi ini dalam integrasi komunitas dan pemeliharaan hubungan sosial. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus kualitatif, melibatkan wawancara dengan tokoh agama, tokoh masyarakat, dan peserta tahlilan, serta observasi langsung terhadap praktik keagamaan di Pasean, Pamekasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tahlilan berperan penting dalam memperkuat identitas kolektif dan harmoni sosial di Madura. Tradisi ini mendorong rasa memiliki dan saling mendukung di berbagai lapisan masyarakat, serta menjadi mekanisme untuk meredakan duka bersama. Namun, tekanan finansial terkait pelaksanaan tahlilan dapat menimbulkan beban sosial, terutama bagi keluarga berpenghasilan rendah. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya tahlilan secara budaya dan pengaruhnya terhadap dinamika sosial, namun diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mengeksplorasi tantangan ekonomi dan perubahan praktik dalam konteks sosial-ekonomi yang berbeda

    Exploring the Role of Religious Leaders and Religious Organizations in Combating Corruption in Indonesia

    Corruption remains a significant issue in Indonesia, hindering development and governance across various sectors. Despite the strong religious character of Indonesian society, the role of religious leaders in combating corruption has yet to produce substantial results. This study aims to analyze the role and challenges faced by religious leaders in reducing corruption, focusing on their influence in anti-corruption movements at the community level. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature reviews, interviews, and case studies from religious organizations collaborating with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Key informants included KPK officials and religious leaders. The findings reveal that while religious leaders possess moral authority and influence within their communities, their involvement in anti-corruption efforts remains limited. The study also identifies several obstacles, such as limited political influence, difficulties in addressing corruption issues, and challenges in effectively communicating anti-corruption messages to the public. Further research is needed to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of religious leaders\u27 involvement and to develop strategies for strengthening their collaboration with state institutions in the fight against corruption. Korupsi tetap menjadi masalah serius di Indonesia yang menghambat perkembangan dan tata kelola di berbagai sektor. Meskipun masyarakat Indonesia dikenal religius, peran pemimpin agama dalam memberantas korupsi belum memberikan dampak yang signifikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran dan tantangan yang dihadapi pemimpin agama dalam upaya mengurangi korupsi, dengan fokus pada pengaruh mereka terhadap gerakan anti-korupsi di tingkat masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui tinjauan literatur, wawancara, dan studi kasus dari organisasi keagamaan yang bekerja sama dengan Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK). Informan utama mencakup pejabat KPK dan pemimpin organisasi keagamaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pemimpin agama memiliki otoritas moral dan pengaruh dalam komunitas mereka, keterlibatan mereka dalam upaya pemberantasan korupsi masih terbatas. Penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi berbagai hambatan, seperti keterbatasan pengaruh politik, kesulitan dalam memahami isu korupsi, dan tantangan dalam menyampaikan pesan anti-korupsi agar dapat diterima dengan baik oleh masyarakat luas. Penelitian lanjutan diperlukan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas jangka panjang dari keterlibatan pemimpin agama serta mengembangkan strategi untuk meningkatkan kolaborasi mereka dengan lembaga negara dalam pemberantasan korupsi

    Culinary Service Adaptation Strategies for Muslim Tourists: A Case Study of Hotel Yamamoto, Japan

    The recent surge in Muslim tourists visiting Japan has necessitated adaptations within the hospitality industry to cater to specific halal culinary requirements. This study explores the adaptive strategies implemented by Japan\u27s hospitality sector, particularly examining how Hotel Yamamoto has responded to the demand for halal culinary options. This research employs a qualitative method, leveraging in-depth interviews with hotel management and observation of operational protocols. By applying Anthony Giddens’ Theory of Structuration, the analysis underscores how the agency of Muslim tourists has instigated structural changes at Hotel Yamamoto. The hotel\u27s initiatives to secure halal certification and expand its halal menu offerings are viewed as a proactive response to this specific tourist demographic’s evolving preferences and demands. These modifications are progressively institutionalized through standardized practices, establishing new benchmarks for inclusivity and service diversity within the industry. Furthermore, the study reveals a dynamic interplay between the individual actions of tourists and the systemic adaptations by the hotel, illustrating the dual nature of structure as both enabling and constraining. While these adaptations have allowed Hotel Yamamoto to penetrate a new market segment, they also impose constraints related to the consistent delivery of services and the maintenance of halal standards. Lonjakan jumlah turis Muslim yang berkunjung ke Jepang telah mendorong industri perhotelan untuk menyesuaikan layanan mereka agar sesuai dengan kebutuhan kuliner halal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi adaptasi yang diimplementasikan oleh sektor perhotelan Jepang, dengan fokus khusus pada bagaimana Hotel Yamamoto merespons permintaan akan opsi kuliner halal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi kasus pada Hotel Yamamoto, Jepang. Data didapatkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan manajemen hotel dan observasi komprehensif terhadap praktik operasional hotel untuk memperoleh informasi tentang implementasi layanan halal. Melalui penerapan Teori Strukturasi Anthony Giddens, analisis ini menekankan bagaimana agensi dari turis Muslim telah memicu perubahan struktural di Hotel Yamamoto. Inisiatif hotel untuk mendapatkan sertifikasi halal dan memperluas penawaran menu halalnya dilihat sebagai respons proaktif terhadap preferensi dan tuntutan yang berkembang dari segmen turis ini. Modifikasi ini secara bertahap diinstitusionalisasikan melalui praktik yang distandarisasi, menetapkan standar baru untuk inklusivitas dan keragaman layanan dalam industri. Lebih lanjut, studi ini mengungkapkan interaksi dinamis antara tindakan individu dari turis dan adaptasi sistemik oleh hotel, mengilustrasikan sifat ganda struktur sebagai sesuatu yang memungkinkan sekaligus membatasi. Sementara adaptasi ini memungkinkan Hotel Yamamoto untuk menjangkau segmen pasar baru, mereka juga mengalami kendala terkait layanan yang konsisten dan pemeliharaan standar halal.

    The Hijab Transformed: A Shifting Social Identity in Bauman\u27s Liquid Modernity

    The hijab, traditionally seen as a religious symbol in Islam, has undergone significant transformations in modern society, shifting its role from a marker of religious modesty to a dynamic symbol of social identity. Global cultural shifts, media representations, and the tension between traditional values and contemporary aspirations influence this transformation. The study explores the evolving meanings and functions of the hijab as a social identity in the context of Bauman\u27s theory of liquid modernity. This research employs a qualitative literature review methodology to examine 40 peer-reviewed articles from both international and national journals. A content analysis approach is utilized to identify recurring themes and patterns in the hijab’s depiction as a social symbol across diverse cultural and social landscapes. The findings indicate that in the era of liquid modernity, the hijab symbolizes a fragmentation of its traditional meanings, shaped by forces like globalization, consumerism, and individualization. Although it continues to signify religious identity, the hijab also represents modernity, resistance, and commodification. Social media plays a crucial role in this transformation, offering a platform for Muslim women to reinterpret the hijab as both a personal and communal statement. This study highlights the hijab’s transformation into a fluid and multifaceted symbol of identity in a rapidly evolving global context. Jilbab, yang secara tradisional dipandang sebagai simbol religius dalam Islam, telah mengalami transformasi yang signifikan dalam masyarakat modern, bergeser dari peran sebagai penanda religius menjadi simbol identitas sosial yang dinamis. Transformasi ini dipengaruhi oleh pergeseran budaya global, representasi media, serta ketegangan antara nilai-nilai tradisional dan aspirasi kontemporer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi evolusi perubahan makna dan fungsi jilbab sebagai identitas sosial dalam konteks teori modernitas cair Bauman. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif berupa studi literatur, penelitian ini menganalisis 40 artikel jurnal bereputasi internasional dan nasional. Analisis konten digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi tema dan pola yang berulang terkait representasi jilbab sebagai identitas sosial di berbagai konteks budaya dan sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jilbab dalam era modernitas cair mencerminkan fragmentasi makna, yang dipengaruhi oleh globalisasi, konsumerisme, dan individualisasi. Meskipun tetap menjadi penanda identitas religius, jilbab kini juga berfungsi sebagai pernyataan modernitas, resistensi, dan komodifikasi. Media sosial memainkan peran penting dalam transformasi ini, menjadi platform bagi perempuan Muslim untuk mereformulasi jilbab sebagai ekspresi pribadi dan komunal.     The book Religion, Conflict, and Peacebuilding by Stipe Odak examines the role of religion in conflicts and peacebuilding efforts, focusing on Bosnia and Herzegovina. This book emerges amidst the rise of religiously motivated violence, such as the events of 2014, and addresses a critical question: Can religion be part of the solution when it is often perceived as part of the problem? In terms of substance, Odak explores how religious leaders can either exacerbate or mitigate conflicts and how they serve as agents of change in the peace process. The book is based on interviews with religious leaders and in-depth case studies, discussing strategies for interfaith dialogue and faith-based peace initiatives. Odak highlights two contrasting realities: violence fueled by religious beliefs and the substantial efforts by religious individuals and institutions to foster peace. Criticism of the book centers on its narrow geographic focus, which may lead readers to feel that its findings are confined to the Balkan context. Additionally, the book lacks a deeper critical analysis of the potential biases of religious leaders in their approaches. Nevertheless, it makes a significant contribution to the literature on religion, conflict, and peacebuilding, particularly for those interested in the dynamics of religion-based conflicts.     The Changing Significance of the Gerebeg Maulid Tradition: An Examination of Its Socio-Economic Impact in Indonesia

    The tradition of Grebeg Maulid in Yogyakarta plays a significant role within Indonesian Musim society. It is not just a cultural identity with significances of religiosity, but also a multifaceted socio-economic phenomenon. The aim of this study is to explore how the Muslim society perceives this heritage, specifically within the socio-economic context. The study employed qualitative research methodology, utilizing observation and interviews to collect data from informants who are actively engaged in the practice. The findings indicated that Grebeg Maulid serves not only as a platform for religious expression, but also as a catalyst for economic endeavors and touristic aspects. Its economic impacts are clearly identified through the numerous business transactions that take place during the event, providing a boost to the local tourism industry. However, the commercialization of this tradition has changed its meaning, with economic values overshadowing its religious significance. In a nutshell, the significance of Grebeg Maulid has undergone a significant change within Javanese Muslim culture. It has evolved beyond being solely a celebration of the Prophet Muhammad\u27s birth and now serves as a hub for tourism and commercial endeavors in the community. Tradisi Grebeg Maulid di Yogyakarta dalam kehidupan masyarakat Muslim di Indonesia, tidak hanya sebagai simbol budaya dengan makna religius, tetapi juga sebagai fenomena sosial ekonomi yang kompleks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali pemaknaan masyarakat Muslim terhadap tradisi ini, khususnya dalam konteks sosial ekonomi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, adapun pengumpulan data melalui proses observasi dan wawancara dengan informan yang terlibat dalam tradisi tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Grebeg Maulid tidak hanya menjadi sarana untuk mengekspresikan keberagamaan, tetapi juga sebagai sarana untuk aktivitas ekonomi dan pariwisata. Dimensi ekonomi dalam tradisi ini tercermin dalam bentuk transaksi ekonomi yang terjadi selama acara dan memberi dampak positif terhadap industri pariwisata setempat. Meskipun demikian, keberadaan dimensi ekonomi ini telah menggeser makna sakralitas tradisi tersebut, kebutuhan akan nilai ekonomi menjadi lebih dominan dibandingkan dengan makna religious yang melekat dalam tradisi Grebeg Maulud. Dengan kata lain, Grebeg Maulid telah mengalami transformasi makna yang signifikan bagi masyarakat Muslim Jawa, tidak lagi hanya sebagai pengingat kelahiran Nabi Muhammad, tetapi juga sebagai objek wisata dan ekonomi masyarakat
