Facial animation and speech animation in Blender
Diplomsko delo obravnava področje obrazne animacije in primerja različne pristope k njeni izvedbi. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljene osnove animacije obraza ter sodobne tehnologije zajema obrazne mimike. V praktičnem delu smo izdelali animacijo govora z dvema različnima metodama – z ročno animacijo in z uporabo tehnologije za zajem obraza. Na koncu smo metode primerjali glede na učinkovitost in primernost uporabe ter podali sklepne ugotovitve o prednostih in omejitvah posameznega pristopa. The diploma thesis deals with the field of facial animation and compares different approaches to its implementation. The theoretical part presents the basics of facial animation and modern facial expression capture technologies. In the practical part, we created speech animation using two different methods - manual animation and face capture technology. Finally, we compared the methods in terms of efficiency and suitability for use and provided conclusions about the advantages and limitations of each approach
The impact of self-confidence and social skills on development of innovating and entrepreneurial success
Hkrati poudarja pomembnost samozavedanja in osebne rasti za trajnostno in inovativno podjetništvo v sodobnem poslovnem okolju. The thesis explores the impact of self-confidence and social skills on entrepreneurial success, with a special focus on the role of soft skills in developing innovative approaches in entrepreneurship. The theoretical part defines key concepts such as self-confidence, social skills, innovation, and business success, and emphasizes their interconnections. Particular attention is given to the growing importance of soft skills as a complement to traditional (hard) knowledge in areas such as leadership, sales, and the development of new ideas.
The empirical part is based on two methodological approaches, a quantitative analysis of a survey among Slovenian entrepreneurs and qualitative analysis of interviews, conducted using thematic analysis. The collected data shows that entrepreneurs who rate their self-confidence as high more often report stronger business growth, better communication with clients, and greater adaptability to market changes. Social skills, such as negotiation, networking, and public speaking, are also recognized as key factors for success and long-term competitiveness.
The research confirmed most of the proposed hypotheses, including the finding that self-confidence and social skills significantly contribute to entrepreneurial success, and that the use of innovative approaches positively affects business growth. It was also found that soft skills are most developed through practice and working with clients, while formal methods such as workshops and coaching, through helpful, are less frequently used.
This thesis highlights the need for greater integration of soft skills development into educational programs and entrepreneurial support systems. It also underscores the importance of self-awareness and personal growth for sustainable and innovative entrepreneurship in today’s dynamic business environment
The impact of quantization on the performance of deep neural networks
This master\u27s thesis presents various quantization techniques for deep neural networks and investigates their impact on model performance.
We evaluate the ResNet-18 classification model and an LSTM regression model using quantization methods applied during and after training, experimenting with the quantization of weights, activations, and gradients at bit widths of 16 and 8.
The results align with expectations and show that certain methods significantly reduce model size and improve inference speed, while maintaining comparable accuracy, thereby enabling efficient deployment of models on devices with limited computational resources
Shakespeare na sojenju: jezik vrednotenja pravnega diskurza v Shakespearovem Othellu in dveh slovenskih prevodih
The thesis explores the connection between literature and law through an appraisal-based linguistic analysis of thirteen selected excerpts from William Shakespeare\u27s Othello and its Slovene translations by Oton Župančič (1923) and Milan Jesih (2013). Excerpts exemplify courtroom rhetoric as characters employ legal roles, such as judge, witness, and solicitor, thus engaging in discourse that mirrors judicial proceedings. The focus of the analysis is therefore on the legal discourse and how this discourse is either maintained or omitted in the Slovene translations. Using Martin and White\u27s appraisal framework, developed in 2005 within systemic functional linguistics, this study examines how attitude, graduation, and engagement contribute to the usage of legal discourse. The comparative analysis of the original and the translations also reveals key differences in how evaluative meaning is preserved or transformed, highlighting the similarities and discrepancies. The research demonstrates that in Othello, legal discourse helps reveal character\u27s intentions, while appraisal analysis reveals moral evaluations of the character\u27s behavior, their emotions, and the aesthetic evaluation of circumstances, as well as how these evaluations are graded and how characters use their voice to either confirm the accusations or deny them.
Accompanying factors of decision making and well-being of participants during the process of education in institutions for serving prison sentences
In this master\u27s thesis, we examine the accompanying factors of decision-making and the well-being of participants during the education process in correctional facilities. Education has a significant impact on the re-socialization of offenders in correctional facilities. The purpose of the research was to study the frequency of an individual\u27s decision to pursue education, to explore the factors that most often attract offenders to education and the factors that most often deter them from the education process, and to determine how offenders feel during the education process and how various factors affect their feelings. In the empirical part, we used a quantitative survey method. The results of the research show that the most attractive factor for offenders to participate in education is the usefulness of the education, while the most common factor that deters them from participating in education is the educational program. The research generally showed good well-being during the education process in correctional facilities. It would be good to try to improve the accompanying factors of decision-making for inclusion or exclusion from education and well-being during the education process in the future, which could lead to improved education in correctional facilities. We would try to encourage more and more offenders to participate in education and improve their well-being while serving their prison sentences
Food Safety Knowledge Among Lower Secondary Level Elementary School Students and an Innovative Approach to Teaching Food Safety Practices Through Games
This master\u27s thesis presents a comprehensive study of food safety awareness among upper primary school students in Slovenia. To facilitate the study, a structured questionnaire was developed and completed by 1,178 students from different primary schools in the country. The data analysis revealed that the students\u27 knowledge of food safety is generally insufficient, with female students having a higher level of knowledge on average than their male counterparts. In addition, a didactic board game entitled "Safe Food – Our Shared Responsibility: From Farm to Fork" was developed. The aim of the game was to introduce food safety concepts to students in an interactive and student-friendly way and to assess its impact on their knowledge. A comparative analysis of the results obtained before and after the game showed a statistically significant improvement in students’ knowledge. This confirmed the effectiveness of the game as an educational tool to promote awareness and understanding of food safety among primary school students at the selected school

The system represents an effective solution for quality assurance in the production of such products
The effects of merger clauses in contracts governed by CISG in light of article 8 CISG
The purpose of the CISG is to provide a uniform instrument for contracts for international sale of goods in order to reduce the uncertainty and risk of international transactions, which otherwise arise from the different national rules. The CISG allows and encourages the parties to enter into contractual agreements by allowing the parties to alter or replace any of its provisions in the contract. Among the most important rules of the CISG is Art. 8, which governs the interpretation of the parties’ conduct relating to the contract. This master’s thesis examines how the rules contained in the aforementioned Art. are applied in the interpretation of a sales contract if the parties include a so-called ‘merger clause’ in the contractual terms.
The rules on the interpretation of merger clauses also present certain limitations within the CISG. Therefore, this master’s thesis introduces the authors’ opinions that propose improvements to the approach to interpreting clauses, that would comprehensively cover individually negotiated and standard merger clauses in contracts to which the CISG applies. Furthermore, CISG-AC Opinion contains a few inadequacies in relation to the effects of merger clauses and Art. 8 CISG.
Thus, the mere integration of such a clause into a contract does not automatically have the effect of excluding extrinsic evidence for the interpretation of the contract. When drafting such clauses, the parties must therefore pay attention to the very wording of the clause and the meaning they assign to it
Investigation of the influencing parameters of the ▫▫ photochemical treatment of waste liquid from the hydrothermal carbonization process in a microreactor flow system
Due to its complex composition and toxicity, the waste liquid from hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) poses a serious environmental challenge that must be addressed before disposal. In this study, the photochemical treatment of HTC liquid in a microreactor flow system was investigated. The effects of wavelength, the presence of atmospheric oxygen, oxidizing agent (H2O2) and catalyst (FeSO4), residence time and pH on the efficiency of the photo-treatment were investigated. In addition, the influence of the addition of deep eutectic solvent (DES) on photo-treatment was studied. The results showed that the photochemical treatment was more efficient at 365 nm than at 420 nm, and that the acidic conditions gave better results than the basic ones. UV365 treatment in the presence of H2O2 (at a dosage of 1 vol%) resulted in removal efficiencies of 31.6% for COD, 17.6% for TOC, 16.9% for NH4-N and 17.2% for PO4-P. The addition of FeSO4 caused coagulation/flocculation effects, but improved phosphorus removal. The addition of DES resulted in slight discolouration of the liquid and proved unsuccessful in COD removal. The GC-MS analysis and 3D-EEM spectra showed significant changes in the fate of organics and in the fluorescence intensity of aromatic proteins and humic acid-like substances. Photochemical treatment in a microreactor flow system in the presence of H2O2 under the selected operating conditions reduced the content of organics and nutrients in the HTC liquid, but the process liquids still showed toxic effects on the organisms V. fischeri and Daphnia magna
Threshold adaptation for improved wrapper-based evolutionary feature selection
Feature selection is essential for enhancing classification accuracy, reducing overfitting, and improving interpretability in high-dimensional datasets. Evolutionary Feature Selection (EFS) methods employ a threshold parameter to decide feature inclusion, yet the widely used static setting =0.5 may not yield optimal results. This paper presents the first large-scale, systematic evaluation of threshold adaptation mechanisms in wrapper-based EFS across a diverse number of benchmark datasets. We examine deterministic, adaptive, and self-adaptive threshold parameter control under a unified framework, which can be used in an arbitrary bio-inspired algorithm. Extensive experiments and statistical analyses of classification accuracy, feature subset size, and convergence properties demonstrate that adaptive mechanisms outperform the static threshold parameter control significantly. In particular, they not only provide superior tradeoffs between accuracy and subset size but also surpass the state-of-the-art feature selection methods on multiple benchmarks. Our findings highlight the critical role of threshold adaptation in EFS and establish practical guidelines for its effective application
