This thesis examines the use of artificial intelligence in journalism, focusing on the changes these tools bring to editorial processes. A review of the literature highlights key trends such as task automation, data support, and content adaptation, along with ethical and regulatory challenges. The empirical part is based on a survey among media studies students who will co-create the journalistic environment in the future. Findings show that they are frequent but average users of artificial intelligence. It is considered a useful tool, while it was emphasized that responsibility for the created content must remain with the journalist who uses it

Magnetni nanodelci (MND) so že dosegli široko uporabo v biomedicinskih aplikacijah, diagnostiki, mehaniki, katalizi in sanaciji okolja. MND smo sintetizirali z metodo koprecipitacije oz. s soobarjalno metodo. Vzorce smo analizirali s termogravimetrično metodo (TGA), dinamičnim sipanjem svetlobe (DLS), infrardečo spektroskopijo s Fourierjevo transformacijo (FTIR) in Brauner-Emmett-Tellerjevo metodo (BET).Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have already achieved widespread use in biomedical applications, diagnostics, mechanics, catalysis and environmental remediation. Advances in technology have enabled the combination of MNPs with other materials, resulting in what is known as a nanocomposite. A nanocomposite is a material with dimensions smaller than 100 nm and exhibits the combined properties of constituent materials. In our thesis, we synthesized a magnetic-zeolite nanocomposite, a material with the properties of zeolites and MNPs. MNPs were synthesized using the coprecipitation method. Zeolites 4A and 13X were ground in a planetary ball mill using different mass ratios and grinding times. By changing the parameters, we determined which combination yields the best results for synthesizing the magnetic-zeolite nanocomposite. The goal of grinding was to obtain the largest possible surface area of zeolite, as this provides the most active sites for MNP binding. The samples were characterized with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic light scattering (DLS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Brauner-Emmett-Teller (BET) method

Zaradi okoljskih, zdravstvenih in prometnih izzivov kolesarjenje postaja pomembna alternativa motoriziranemu prometu, vendar zahteva ustrezno in premišljeno načrtovano infrastrukturo. Z uporabo kombinacije metod — analiza dokumentacije, terensko opazovanje, statistična obdelava podatkov in anketiranje kolesarjev na Smetanovi ulici — smo pridobili celovit vpogled v trenutno stanje in prepoznali ključne težave. The master’s thesis addresses the design of bicycle lanes as a key factor for safe and efficient cycling infrastructure in urban environments. The primary aim of the work was to define the principles and criteria for designing bicycle lanes that improve traffic safety and user experience. Due to environmental, health, and traffic challenges, cycling is becoming an important alternative to motorized transport, but it requires appropriate and thoughtfully planned infrastructure. Within the research, we reviewed domestic and international professional literature covering technical guidelines, traffic safety, and user needs in bicycle lane design. This review provided insight into various approaches and best practices and helped establish a theoretical foundation for further analysis. An analysis of the situation in Slovenia shows that cycling infrastructure is often inadequately planned, reducing its safety and usability. In the case of Rošpoh Road, we identified key deficiencies in the existing cycling infrastructure, particularly inadequate horizontal traffic signage, such as faded or missing road markings. For a more detailed assessment, we analyzed a section of Vrbanska Street toward the tree-lined avenue, as well as Smetanova Street in Maribor, where auxiliary cycle lanes are in place. By applying a combination of methods—document analysis, field observation, statistical data processing, and a survey of cyclists on Smetanova Street—we obtained a comprehensive insight into the current state and identified the main issues. The survey specifically highlighted users’ perceptions of safety and comfort. Based on the collected results, we developed technical and spatial proposals for improvements that significantly contribute to enhanced traffic safety and the promotion of sustainable mobility

Izzivi prevajanja metafor v slovenskih posodobljenih prevodih kratkih zgodb Edgarja Allana Poeja

The article focuses on translations of metaphors, a unique aesthetic and poetic figure that requires special attention and accurate rendering in a literary translation. When translating metaphors, the translator should understand and preserve the meaning and the aesthetic component of the metaphors. The study discusses the rendering of metaphors in translations and re-translations of three short stories by Edgar Allan Poe: “The Gold Bug,” translated by Boris Rihteršič in 1935, and Jože Udovič in 1960“The Pit and the Pendulum,” translated by Rihteršič in 1935 and by Udovič in 1972, and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” translated by Zoran Jerin and Igor Šentjurc (1952), and by Udovič in 1972. In gothic fiction, Poe established himself as a master of metaphors, which he used with astonishing fluency and precision. The results of the analysis demonstrate how and in which way Slovene translators rendered metaphors in the short stories of one of the greatest writers of gothic fiction, and what strategies they used to preserve Poe’s unique, dark, and delirious metaphorical style.V prispevku so obravnavani prevodi metafor iz izvirnega v ciljni jezik.

Blockchain technology implementation for traceability in the food supply chain – case research

    Get PDF
Food supply chains are evolving into coordinated systems, prompting competition between companies and entire supply networks. In this context, Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) have emerged as a response to public concerns about food sourcing and handling. Defined by the EU as systems involving few economic actors committed to local development and close producer-consumer relations, SFSCs present both opportunities and challenges. Among key challenges are identity management, transparency, and security. Blockchain technology, introduced shortly after SFSCs gained attention, offers promising solutions by enhancing traceability and linking product information with physical flows. This chapter explores the role of blockchain in addressing traceability challenges and presents a practical case of its application in SFSCs

Optional protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography – criminalising practices including and exceeding exploitation and abuse of children

    Get PDF
The 2000 Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography is considered one of the most widely ratified international treaties, promulgating the incrimination of customers and intermediaries in cases of sexual and other forms of exploitation of children. This chapter highlights its strengths and limitations. Special emphasis is placed on provisions prohibiting and criminalising practices covered under the Protocol, particularly concerning topical and divisive issues such as commercial surrogacy, virtual pornography and the maximum age of protection under the Optional Protocol. Moreover, topics such as sanctions and other substantive issues, jurisdiction, freezing and confiscation of assets, extradition and further instruments of mutual legal assistance, rights of child victims and preventive measures are briefly addressed. Where applicable, the contrast between the Convention and the Optional Protocol is emphasised, as the drafters of the latter opted for a more welfarist approach. This implies that the Optional Protocol drastically limits children’s agency to, for example, using explicit sexual materials in the context of sexting as a part of their sexual development. Recognising this issue, the authors argue against an unreasonably extensive interpretation of the Protocol’s provisions which concern practices that far exceed the exploitation or abuse of children

The role of cognitive strategies in the regulation of food craving

    Get PDF
Dva sta brez kognitivne regulacije (ZDAJ in GLEJ), preostala dva pa sta pogoja kognitivne regulacije in vsebujeta razmišljanje o dolgoročnih negativnih posledicah uživanja visokokalorične hrane (KASNEJE NEGATIVNO) oz. dolgoročnih pozitivnih posledicah izogibanja visokokalorični hrani (KASNEJE POZITIVNO). The central theme of this thesis is the regulation of food cravings. In today\u27s world, as we are faced with an obesity epidemic, this is one of the topics that can help shed light on this problem. One of the factors that particularly contributes to the development of obesity is the environment in which we live today, the so-called obesogenic environment. In an obesogenic environment, there is an abundance of food stimuli, so it is important to understand how individuals respond to them. One of the responses to food stimuli is food craving, which individuals can regulate. In existing literature, cognitive regulation strategies that can be adapted to the individual and their environment stand out as an effective intervention. In this master\u27s thesis, we wanted to investigate how food cravings change depending on the use of different cognitive strategies. Additionally, we examined the relationship between cravings and event-related potentials (ERPs), obtained using EEG. We focused specifically on the LPP, which reflects the motivational significance of a stimulus and occurs 400 ms after its presentation. We were also interested in self-reported arousal as a factor associated with changes in LPP amplitude. Participants (N = 57) took part in an experiment, during which they viewed images of high-calorie foods while their EEG signals were recorded. They received four sets of instructions, which also represented four experimental conditions. Two were without cognitive regulation (NOW and LOOK), while the other two were conditions of cognitive regulation, and involved thinking about the long-term negative consequences of consuming high-calorie foods (LATER NEGATIVE), or the long-term positive consequences of avoiding high-calorie foods (LATER POSITIVE). Data analysis showed that self-reported food cravings were significantly lower in conditions where cognitive regulation was present compared to conditions without craving regulation. We also examined whether early LPP amplitudes varied depending on the use of cognitive strategies, but did not detect any systematic changes. Additionally, we examined the relationship between early LPP amplitudes and self-reported arousal, but found no significant correlations. We used a moderation analysis to check whether arousal moderates the relationship between early LPP amplitudes and self-reported craving. This relationship was statistically significant only in the LOOK condition, where we observed a stronger relationship between self-reported craving and changes in early LPP amplitudes at higher levels of arousal. Our results support cognitive regulation as an effective strategy for managing (self-reported) cravings for high-calorie foods. At the same time, they highlight the need for further research that systematically investigates the dynamics between subjective experiences and neurological processes, which could lead to the development of more precise and targeted interventions
