    No full text
Remarriages are often found in big cities or developed regions. However, the phenomenon of remarriage is common in a remote village in Emete Village, Obaa District, Mappi Regency, South Papua Province. This study investigates the phenomenon of remarriage among women in Emete Village, Obaa District, Mappi Regency, South Papua, focusing on the socio-economic and cultural dynamics that drive such practices and their implications under Islamic law. Unlike the widely studied contexts of urban and developed regions, remarriages in this remote village present unique challenges and cultural nuances. The study explores key questions: what factors compel women in Emete Village to remarry, and how do these marriages align with Islamic principles? Utilizing qualitative research with an ethnographic approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and analysis of religious and social practices. The findings reveal two forms of remarriage: those following legal divorces and those occurring without formal divorce, each shaped by economic pressures, failed previous marriages, and the quest for social recognition. Further, the study underscores the significant legal, social, and economic implications, including non-compliance with iddah (waiting period) rules, lack of financial justice, and risks associated with unregistered marriages. These practices challenge Islamic principles concerning fairness, legal status, and protection for women and children. This research contributes to the broader discourse on Islamic family law by highlighting the need for integrative socio-religious solutions to address the complexities of remarriage in remote communities

This study aims to explore the quality indicators of calligraphy within the implementation of the Hamidi Method, as well as to trace the spiritual dimensions embedded in the calligraphy learning process at SAKAL Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) in Jombang. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes how technical aspects—such as proportional accuracy (nisbah), consistency of letterforms, and artistic composition—are harmoniously integrated with spiritual values, making each stroke of calligraphy a form of devotion to the Divine Word (Kalamullah). The Hamidi Method is implemented progressively through the use of kurrasah (instructional booklets) and scholarly mentorship rooted in a chain of transmission (sanad), developing students'skills while instilling discipline and Islamic spirituality. The indicators of calligraphy quality in this context include five key aspects: proper use of tools and materials, technical precision, harmonious layout composition, fluency in writing, and artistic expression grounded in tradition. From Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s perspective on spirituality, calligraphy is not merely visual art but sacred art that fulfills four main functions: psychological-spiritual balance, reminder of Divine transcendence, reflection of collective religious consciousness, and a symbol of Islamic civilizational progress. The findings indicate that the Hamidi Method is not only effective for technical skill development but also serves as a transformative educational model that blends spirituality and culture, bridging classical Islamic values with contemporary relevance

Harmoni dalam Keragaman Weton: Tradisi Perkawinan di Desa Kepuh Kembeng

The weton tradition in Javanese culture remains a significant cultural heritage that influences marriage decisions in various communities, including in Kepuh Kembeng Village, Jombang. This study aims to analyze how local society responds to weton incompatibility in marriage and to what extent such cultural values affect their social life. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observations and interviews involving community leaders, religious figures, and couples who experienced weton differences. The findings reveal that although weton is still respected, it is no longer viewed as an absolute barrier to marriage. Values of social harmony and collective deliberation serve as key social mechanisms that enable negotiation between cultural traditions and family interests. Using Talcott Parsons’ structural functionalism, the weton tradition is interpreted as a flexible symbolic system that functions to maintain social order rather than as a rigid normative constraint. This study contributes to the discourse on living law and enriches the understanding of the interplay between cultural tradition and religious values in contemporary Muslim Javanese society

The study investigated the crucial role of supervisory feedback in academic supervision from students' perspectives in two distinct English-speaking university contexts: EFL and ESL. The research included the participation of 59 students and relied on a comprehensive methodology, utilizing a combination of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews for data collection. In analyzing the data, the study employed simple statistics to measure frequency and mean, while interview data were subjected to thematic analysis. The study's findings revealed that students in both Indonesian and Malaysian university contexts reported similar experiences concerning supervisory feedback. Specifically, their supervisors were found to provide comprehensive feedback and consistently engage in regular face-to-face meetings. However, the study identified a notable disparity in the preferred types of supervisory feedback between Indonesian and Malaysian students. Indonesian students preferred oral feedback, while Malaysian students leaned towards written feedback. These findings have important implications for academic supervision in Indonesian and Malaysian contexts. By shedding light on the differences in student feedback preferences, the study aims to increase awareness and provoke discussions about how supervisory feedback is administered. This, in turn, could potentially lead to positive changes in how academic supervision is conducted in these contexts. Ultimately, by exploring students’ perceptions of supervisory feedback, the study functions as a valuable resource that can inform the refinement of current feedback approaches to better align with the needs of students, thus enhancing the quality of academic supervision and the overall educational experience

This study aims to examine the contribution of self-regulated learning and peer social support to academic procrastination among university students in completing their thesis. Meanwhile, peer social support provides emotional and motivational assistance that can help students overcome academic stress and maintain their commitment to completing tasks. Using a quantitative correlational design, the research population is 2353 students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training which was found to be a sample of 100 students who used the Taro Yamane formula. The analysis of this study uses description, simple and multiple linear regression. The analysis of research data was conducted using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 28 For Windows application. The results showed that both self-regulated learning and peer social support significantly contribute to reducing academic procrastination, with self-regulated learning having a stronger influence. Furthermore, the combination of these two factors explained a substantial portion of the variance in procrastination behaviour. The findings suggest that interventions aimed at improving students’ self-regulation skills and fostering supportive peer networks can effectively decrease procrastination and enhance thesis completion rates. This study provides valuable insights for educators and academic counsellors in designing comprehensive support programs to assist students in overcoming procrastination challenge
