PEMBARUAN HUKUM ISLAM (Esensi, Urgensi dan Kendala)
Renewal of Islamic Law will discuss about the problem: the essence, renewing the urgency of Islamic law, the constraints faced by Islamic law reform, and efforts to over come the obstacle store form Islamic law be accepted by Muslims as a whole. In Taklid Period does not mean empty mujtahid imams competent to be ijtihad as its predecessor, but due to various factors they limit themselves in the line of a particular school. Among them are political factors; Islam has been divided into several governmental and civil war often a rise. Islamic legal reform does not mean rejecting or remodel any results of ijtihad scholars, but is an update was conducted on the al-i'adah, al-ibabanah and al-Ihya Pembaruan Hukum Islam akan membahas seputar masalah esensi, urgensi, dan kendala yang dihadapi pembaruan hukum Islam serta upaya mengatasi kendala tersebut sehingga pembaruan Hukum Islam dapat diterima oleh umat Islam secara menyeluruh. Perkembangan hukum Islam terjadi selama beberapa periode, salah satunya adalah periode taklid. Pada masa ini bukan berarti terjadi kekosongan para imam mujtahid yang berkompeten untuk berijtihad seperti pendahulunya, akan tetapi karena adanya berbagai faktor mereka membatasi diri dalam garis mazhab tertentu. Di antaranya adalah faktor politik; umat Islam telah terpecah belah menjadi beberapa pemerintahan dan sering timbul perang saudara. Pembaruan hukum Islam bukanlah berarti menolak atau merombak segala hasil ijtihad ulama masa lalu, tetapi adalah pembaruan yang dilakukan meliputi alI'adah, al-ibabanah dan al-ihya
KESULITAN BELAJAR YANG DIHADAPI OLEH MAHASISWA DAN SOLUSINYA
One of the problems in the world of education in Indonesia highlighted that many people are of quality problems or quality. Quality of education is of course related to learning. However, reality shows that a lot of the students did not achieve expected maximum learning because there are several factors that influence them, which are; the influence of close friends, economic status, encouragement of parents, facilities and infrastructure. On the other hand the dynamics of what happens to the students showed clearly the tendency of students to disinterest in science studies. This paper presented: a. Difficulty in learning influenced by; 1) internal factors; intelligence factors and interest, 2) external factors; family and community factors. While solutions to reduce the difficulty of learning are as follows; 1) provides tutoring, 2) generate interest in students to learn the lessons that follow, 3) information service, 4) placement services, and 5) counseling services
METODE IJTIHAD MAJELIS ULAMA INDONESIA
Fatwa is believed to be a container having an important and significant role in the religious life of the Islamic community. The urgency and significance can be seen from its function as a mediating between the ideals of Islamic law on the one hand with the factual reality-communities on the other. This is where all the problems, concerns, hopes, aspirations and experiences presented and confronted people to look for common ground with the ideals of moral and religious ethics in Shari'ah mediated by the intellectual prowess of a mufti. One of the institutions that are semi-formal fatwa is the fatwa issued by the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), because these institutions are formally established by the government, but its provisions can not be forced as the decision of the judiciary. Since its establishment in 1975 MUI fatwa has been issued either at the request of individuals, community groups and at the request of the government. This simple article will try to look at and examine some of the MUI fatwa has been issued, to then be viewed and analyzed, especially in terms of legal istinbat method used in formulating his fatwa. Fatwa diyakini sebagai wadah yang memiliki peran penting dan signifikan dalam kehidupan beragama komunitas Islam. Urgensi dan signifikansinya terlihat dari fungsinya sebagai mediasi antara cita ideal hukum Islam di satu pihak dengan realitas-faktual masyarakat di pihak lain. Di sinilah setiap problem, keprihatinan, harapan, aspirasi dan pengalaman masyarakat disampaikan dan dikonfrontasikan untuk dicarikan titik temu dengan cita moral dan etika religius dalam syari’ah yang dimediasi oleh kecakapan intelektual seorang mufti. Salah satu lembaga fatwa yang bersifat semiformal adalah fatwa yang dikeluarkan oleh Komisi Fatwa Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI), karena lembaga ini resmi dibentuk oleh pemerintah, namun ketetapannya tidak dapat memaksa sebagaimana keputusan lembaga peradilan. Sejak berdiri tahun 1975, MUI telah banyak mengeluarkan fatwa baik atas permintaan individu, kelompok masyarakat maupun atas permintaan pemerintah. Tulisan sederhana ini akan mencoba untuk melihat dan meneliti beberapa fatwa yang telah dikeluarkan MUI, untuk kemudian dilihat dan dianalisis, terutama dari segi metode istinbat hukum yang digunakan dalam merumuskan fatwanya
TEACHING SKIMMING ARTICLES IN AN ESP CONTEXT BY USING METACOGNITIVE STRATEGY TO INCREASE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION
To get good understanding of reading, the students can use skimming, reading quickly without missing important points. However, some students still do not know how to do skimming effectively, even in ESP context, because they still use the tradional one. This paper discussed about metacognitive skimming strategy to increase students understanding towards long articles. The steps of the strategy are (1). provide them with ten pages articles and ask them to read, (2). Stop them while just reading two or three paragraphs, (3). Take opportunity of their confussions to explain about why they read this, (4). Extend the discussion to show that how people read is closely connected to why they read, (5). Then ask them to speculate on the purposes of reading texts in science and how these purposes may influence the way they approach the technical reading material, and (6). Discuss how skimming can be used in the research context. It hopes that by using this strategy the students could read long text by considering the purpose of reading itself especially in ESP context
AN INVESTIGATION OF INDONESIAN EFL TEACHERS’ PERCEPTION OF COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING
Over the past three decades, the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) has become one of the most dominant approaches in the field of ESL or EFL teaching in many countries around the world, including Indonesia. The aims of this study were threefold: (a) to investigate Indonesian EFL teachers’ theoretical perceptions of CLT, (b) to look at whether the teachers have implemented CLT in the classroom, and (c) to identify difficulties the teachers face in implementing CLT. The participants in the study were 7 Indonesian EFL teachers who were pursuing their study in TESOL and Foreign Language Teaching program at the University of Canberra. Thirty-item questionnaires were used for data collection. The results of the study revealed that the teachers involved in this study generally had considerably good understanding of principles and activities of CLT. Most of the teachers also reported thatthey have implemented CLT in their classrooms even though many of them still maintained activities of traditional approaches. The results also revealed that all of the teachers face some constraints in implementing CLT activities in their classrooms. Among the most common constraints include low English proficiency of the students, large classrooms, and lack of sources.
